i wanted to completely reset my SGS2, and formatted all partitions in siyah-recovery (dorimanx kernel): cache, data, system, internal storage (emmc). i just left external storage (my 32GB sd card ) untouched.
so normally, on the phone there shouldn't be any data any more, right?
but, then i flashed 4.1.2 and was wondering afterwards why all the data on the internal storage were still here (pics, whatsapp, and so on)
can anyone tell me why formatting "emmc" didn't work in recovery? (everything seemed fine when doing it: "formatting 'emmc' successfully"

Hi guys, I have been using the AURA Rom for a while now but today when I rebooted my phone it would not go past the beginning blue android splash screen. I am trying to use CWM to wipe data and factory reset but it says:
wiping data...
Formatting /data...
Formatting /cache...
Formatting /sdcard/.android_secure...
Error Mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!
Skipping Format...
Formatting /emmc/.android_secure...
Data Wipe Complete
Now when I reboot the phone it gets stuck at Blur setup and none of the buttons are responsive. Eventually, the screen goes black and thats it. On the top left of the notification bar there is the icon for mounting internal storage and it doesnt go away. I am getting the feeling that the phone is not being able to mount the internal storage. I would really appreciate some help as I have no clue what to do and googling isnt bringing up any results. Thanks
So the phone just went past the blur setup part and booted into android. The problem is that the internal storage is not being recognized and is not mounting. When I go into settings and storage. It doesnt register the internal storage. It shows 0 bytes and hitting format does not do anything. Also when I try to connect to computer, I cannot see the internal storage. If you try to mount the internal storage, everything freezes.
Edit: Problem solved by formatting internal storage in Windows

connect phone to computer with usb and when the drives show up on your then select the internal sc card (right click) and select format.
Sorry, I meant how to format the internal flash storage, which has many partitions on it (one of them being the internal SD you refer to)
In CW recovery, when I do wipes i goto Mount and Storage then format / data, cache, system.
What happens if i select format / sdcard? will that erase my internal sd card?
Formatting an SD card will wipe it totally clean, so yes.
I've never used it but I suspect it's the same as formatting sd card from settings / storage. You would lose all your photos, media files and everything else on your internal SD card.

Plus phone will no longer boot .
Useful for a fresh install on a clean phone via download mode and Odin and stock rom .

I just flashed resurrection remix 3.1.3 (full wipe). And I also wanted to format my internal and external SDs. But when I go to Settings / Storage, I get "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped". There is another way to format the internal storage?
From recovery, mount and storage, format emmc or format internal sdcard
Will the CWM backups disappear after a full wipe? Please answer.
Thank you!
If on your external sd card then no, they won't. Internal sd will be wiped, depending on how you're doing the wipe.
Mine didn't but they were on the external sd card everything on the internal was gone but external stayed intact.

It depends on what you call full wipe. On my recovery and generally speaking it is /cache dalvick cache, and /data except the internal sdcard folder. Sometimes it adds system and preload wipe. So your internal card personal data are untouched. With those recoveries the option to wipe internal card completely is explicitly labeled and you can't make a mistake.
I have partitioned my phone incorrectly. Phone is asking for a reset..
I deleted the /data and /sdcard because I formatted the internal storage and every time I reboot, I get a Encryption...
