Hey man try to go in download mode by these method
Remove battery and at the time of inserting samultanously press buttons volume up and down and power button it will work again saying simultanously it will 100% work so after gng in download mode just flash stock by odin as you already know
Sent from my Ace-i
Use ODIN
Following Hitesh2626's guide, You should remove the battery, press the volume up and down buttons simultaneously and turn power on, then connect the usb. Then download odin and a firmware for your phone from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2199503 . Then flash it and then you are fixed. If this dosen't help, use usb jig from ebay or even if the usb jig dosen't work then you have to get it repaired from store. Hope it helps. Thanks for fast reply. Ill try and I will tell if will work
Unlock bootloader, install custom kernel, install custom ROM via Recovery.
Probably you missed the 2nd step.
Oh and no root is needed to install custom ROM. At all.
How to set the phone to the flash mode ? I have back button on touch.

Switch off the phone, press volume down button, connect the phone through USB > green led ! Annd you're done

Green LED?! Blue LED must be lit up not Green LED! And also Volume Up key has to be pressed not Volume Down key.
Hold Volume Up key, then connect USB cable; Blue LED has to be lit up.
I recommend you not to flash it again, things will be worse. Give it somewhere to repair.

It's volume down. Volume up is used to enter fastboot, afaik.

Yes, and flash is possible from this way. I've not heard about flashmode. When Green LED lits up it means the phone is charging (If more than 90%).
Am I right?

You, sir, are a fail.
Blue LED is fastboot mode, not flashmode. Volume UP is fastboot mode, not flashmode.
EDIT: I see, you posted there between, before me.
Volume Down while turned off and connecting USB cable, is flashmode, where you can install stock firmware to your phone.
Volume Up etc... is fastboot mode, only used to install custom kernels(and unlock bootloader if using official way).
Got it, thank you.
Everyone excuse me for giving erroneous information.

Button combinations for i9100 are different to get into download and recovery, afaik. Search i9100 forums for proper button combinations, or install an i777 ROM on your i777. On i777 Vol+/Vol-/power is for recovery, not download mode.

You probably flashed I9100 secondary bootloader with one of the firmwares you flashed. That would have changed the button combination. You can try the following: Remove battery and leave it out. Hold down one or both of the volume buttons while plugging in the usb cable which is already attached to your windows pc. If this successfully boots the phone into download mode then you need to flash the I777 secondary bootloader, or the full stock firmware which includes the secondary bootloader using Odin. The files are available in the Download Repository. See the link in my signature.
If the above does not work, then you probably need to buy, borrow or build a USB jig, which will boot the phone into download mode, so that you can flash as above.

I assume you mean it would not go into download mode with the battery out? I wasn't sure if that would work.
You can try to change key mapping if you know what you are doing (I don't), but really just a couple of dollars for a usb jig should boot the phone to download mode. Seems to me that is the easiest and most straight forward way to proceed.
I flashed a kernel on my S3 via recovery and then reboot my phone. It goes to a black screen now. When I pull the battery and power on holding volume down to go into recovery the Samsung Galaxy S3 logo keeps appearing and disappearing until I let go of the volume down key. Then it's stuck at the same black screen. When I try to put the phone in download mode to re-flash via odin it does the same thing. I'm pretty sure I'm fu*ked, but I just want to make sure there's not a way to fix this. Any ideas?

Don't worry..i have done worse things with my phone and yet to brick it..
Fist thing to go into recovery you hold vol up + power + home and not vol down..
Second thing what you will have to do is after the Odin flash..press and hold vol up+power+home..you will boot into the stock recovery..from here do a factory reset but mind you all the data on your internal sdcard will be lost when you do this..now reboot your phone..your phone will boot up properly now..assuming that you have flashed the firmware properly in Odin..

As zoot1 replied to you for download mode press vol down+home+power for a few seconds......for recovery vol up+home+power.........
And make very sure the kernel you flash is compatible with your phone and firmware!!!!!!!!!!!! The rest zoot1 explained in his reply
Good luck

Anyone have an idea what I've done.... Black screen with blue light. I can get to the recovery menu, clockwork is installed, but I can't flash a rom. The only way to get the phone to stay off is by removing the battery.
This is a Cspire L710. I've attempted to flash a Cspire_nandroid_stock zip, the phone will find it but can't open it. I missed a step somewhere I guess. I had it in download mode but made the mistake of trying the factory reset-which changed that.
I've also tried a couple of other roms with the same results.

Unless there is a way to get to download mode through the recovery menu, download mode is not an option.

You might be able to get to download mode via a usb jig.
I have a problem. My volume up was not working very well for a while but it worked if you pressed it hard enough so I didn't go on about fixing it, because I was controlling volume within the settings. The problem got worse all the time and now it isn't working at all. And on top of that now my phone can't boot probably cause of some bad zip I was flashing while trying some mods for my rom (I am using Omega v51), and the phone stays on the omega droid walking screen and doesn't boot. Usually this would not be a problem because I would boot into recovery and reflash the rom, or wipe davlik and cache or fix permissions or whatever. But now with the volume up not working I can't go into recovery. I can't go into download mode either, to flash rom via odin, because, despite volume down button works ok, when you go into download mode you still have to press volume up to "continue".
Any other way to get into recovery or download mode without the use of volume rockers?
I even try with adb commands but they don't seem to work when the rom is booting...
PS. I don't think it's a problem of the volume rocker, rather it's a problem of the volume switch on the cable, because i removed the back panel and removed the volume button, and pressed the switch manually and it doesn't work either. I can order another cable from e-bay but it will take a while to arrive and in the meantime, I am stuck without a phone, so any help on getting in the recovery or download mode is appreciated.

Thanks for the answer. I thought of that but I don't have one and if i order one from e-bay it will take a while to arrive also. I am hoping for a solution that doesn't involve waiting that long
Just un update. Finally i got into download mode and stayed in the screen where you need to press volume up to go into download mode, removed the volume up button and pressed the up switch with a screwdriver hoping that at least one time it will be pressed and go into download mode and finally i was able to do that. So i reflashed the rom via odin and it booted into the rom. now volume up still not working, but at least I have a working phone until the parts from e-bay arrive to replace the faulty button and/or switch
Thanks for the help.

I'm facing the same problem now. Thank you
Hello there, I own a galaxy s3 for quite a while and I remember I rooted the device and flashed the Revolutionary S5 ROM via odin long time ago (I did all this with the help of several youtube videos because I am an ignorant in this matter).
But well the problem started when I was going to make a factory reset to the phone because I lent it to a friend and when I got it back I just wanted to clean it and wipe all the info. I entered to recovery mode (twrp) and by accident I wiped all the phone had including te OS. I noticed it because when I was going to power off the phone in recovery mode it told me that there was no OS.
So now the phone is in a bootloop, because when I try to turn it on I only see the samsung galaxy logo and thats it, the same when I plug the phone to the power it only shows the battery screen.
I also have the problem with the volume up key that doesnt work so I cant access the recovery mode. Only the download mode using the volume down+home+lock button combination but still i cant do anything because of the volume up buttom that doesnt work.
If someone can help me with this problem I would really appreciatte it. Explaining me like a 5 yo.

No I dont, I can enter download mode by pressing the volume down + home+ lock button. But after that I cant do anything else because in download mode it tells me to press volume up to continue and volumen down to cancel. And unfortunately my volume up button doesnt work.
Any ideas?
The jig will put the phone into download mode, no buttons required.
To use the jig, remove battery, insert jig, insert battery.

Thanks, I will try to find a usb jig and do that.
Any other way I can get into download mode without the jig?
I don't know of any other way to get into download mode.
The jig works with many models of Samsung phones.
Op states he can access download mode but not recovery. Flash the latest stock firmware twice via odin and factory reset in between flashes. Make sure the firmware matches your phone region etc and must android 4.3.

Sorry to bother you but can you tell in depth how to do that without using the volume up key, because I cant fully access the download mode. I just get stuck in the screen that says press volume up to continue or volume down to cancel.
Solved.
Maybe its not the best way to fix it but I inserted a little blade into the volume buttons and took the button out, I clean it a little bit and inserted it so that the volume up key could function (not fully). So that way I accessed recovery mode and flashed the rom I had using an extsd card where I previously copied the zip of the rom. Now I will flash the stock rom twice and who know from there.
Thanks all for your answers

Ah, ok then that isn't download mode at all.
Looks like you'd be best sending it to a repair shop because at this point you need the buttons working. You could dismantle the phone and short the button pad with a small metallic object but if your skills don't range to that i would advise against it as it is very easy to damage the component when shorting it out manually.
