Hi!
I want to use hotspot on galaxy ace, but my cheap tablet doesnt connect to wifi with channel 6. If I change the channel - I tried it with router - the connection is ok.
How can I change the channel? I tried some wifi tether app like open garden or barnacle, but when i click the Start button the phone writes "the sharing is running", however there's no any wifi connection!
So do you know a good app, or do you know what should I modify in the system?
Thank you!

just received my A70, installed GApps and a few programs through the file viewer after transferring via USB.
Then, I wanted to download a few apps from the market...
I got Barnacle setup on my X10, and my laptops can both see the new WiFi network created by it, but the Archos can't
Has anyone tethered using this method before?
If so, I think I am using the wrong channel to connect, but can anyone advise which WiFi channel the A70 would require??
I can pick up other WiFi networks, but can't actually connect to them due to restrictions on the routers (I'm at work, they require MAC addresses and for some reason wont let me add this to the network )
Try any channel below 11. It's a known kernel issue.
if it creates an AD-HOC connection, then that's the issue.
Aha, yes it does. Damn
I'll have to try the proper tethering method then using the cell phone tether option (which I briefly tried but failed to connect through bluetooth)
Try "Wireless Tether for root users" with it's bluetooth option. Works for me Have the tether activated on the phone while pairing it with the Archos though.
I just got my new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 WIFI version. I am able to connect to the internet smoothly with my home WLAN network. However, when I turn on the wifi hotspot from my mobile phone, the tab does not recognize it (WIFI analyzer can though). My Lenovo laptop can see it and connect via it to the internet, so the hotspot itself is working.
I am just wondering if connecting to wifi hotspot is really supported in the tab and/or Android 3.1?
Thank you for your advice in advance
Connecting to an "Access Point" Hotspot works fine, tested it with my Galaxy S. Maybe your phone opens an Ad Hoc network?
thanks. this seems to be right into the point. i use symbian phone running joiku, and it indeed seems to support adhoc mode only. so anyway to enable adhoc wifi connecting support in my tab?
Haven't tried it myself but it seems there is a patch in the development section which enables ad-hoc network detection/connection (Tab needs to be rooted): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123638
Thank you. Now I have managed to make the adhoc wifi connecting work by following the instructions behind the above link

The 2.3.3 update provides the following that are fully functional:
USB Tethering - allows you to attach a single device via USB to allow it to access the Internet through your X10's WiFi or 3G data connection
Portable WiFi Hotspot - allows other WiFi-enabled devices to attach to your X10 via WiFi to allow them to access the Internet through your X10's 3G data connection
Go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Tethering & Portable Hotspot to get to and set up those features.
For USB tethering, you'll need either a WiFi or 3G data connection available. For the portable WiFi hotspot, you need a 3G data connection available and the WiFi hardware must be on as well (since your X10 will become a WiFi router).
They work quite well, and they easily replace what we used to need 3rd-party apps for in the past.

Configure it first, set your password or change to open.

Need to share my 3g bandwidth from my samsung tab 10.1 , I found no inbuilt options (or did I miss something, pls say I did) .. Tried wireless tether, runs and shows as Ad Hoc hotspot, but no device can connect to it.
And Oh I'm rooted
You don't have a built in mobile hotspot app?
under wireless settings, there should be an option that says tethering and wireless hotspot.
Hi All
I have a rooted android TV box that I also use as a wifi router (cable from router is connected to TV Box which is then shared through wifi)
However I have to always do that manually by going into settings. Is there any script that I can launch on startup to enable wifi tethering automatically?
I tried searching but it didnt help.
Thanks in advance.
