why make another thread when you already have one.. ?
i know the first one was not in correct section..
you need to report the thread to move that thread in q & a section instead of making new thread..
.
.
anyway, for your problem
reset your phone, wipe data and everything..
flash stock or any custom rom..
or
if your phone is still under waranty then flash stock via odin and reset the custom binary counter and take it to service center..

[Q] Help! Need to revert to AT&T Stock, broken USB port

Greetings!
My USB port is going (or already is) bad, I need to get it warranty repaired.
I just KNOW that the warranty center is going to give me **** because I run a custom rom, even though this is clearly a hardware issue.
I can't use ODIN because of the USB issue (it doesn't connect to the PC for data at all, but it still gets a trickle charge)
I have TWRP installed, I need a flashable stock rom as well as some way to reset the flash counter, if possible.
What can I do?
I appreciate everyone's help!
Flash the rooted stock ICS rom from bigfau in the super thread ....(at the top of the general section )
The flash counter zip file is in the same thread ...just scroll down the first post and you'll see it ...
Both are. Zip format and you'll be good ...g

Take a charger, plug it into phone, cut the other end. Stick directly to car battery. Bam! Fried. Can't tell its a custom Rom if it won't even turn on

This is an example of why companies are locking phones down..
People make their own mistakes and fry phones so they don't have to pony up the coin for a new device.. the company then replaces the phone for a issue that wasn't their fault..
Say it, Don't spray it.

[Q] [HELP!] S3 wont even boot

So my S3 went into a boot loop. And I dont know how I got to this point but now the phone wont even boot, when plugged in to my comp it shows the battery symbol but its greyed out with the circle in the middle, and it stays like that. If i hold the power putton it comes up with the Galaxy SIII GT i9300 screen but then goes back to the battery. I can get it to go into download mode though. I think somehow I may have deleted all the files required for the phone to actually boot(Im a n00b so im not completely sure) Can somebody please help me?
I was on custom ROM before and my binary counter is at 4, so sending into samsung doesn't sound like a great idea :/
Thanks for the help and sorry if this has been asked before, I have searched for hours.

If you also can go into recovery, try to wipe. In addition did you flash any custom kernel?
If not, try to reflash a rom with odin after you got into download mode or did you try this already?

If you mean with CWM mod, no I cant, it just shows the Galaxy S3 GT i9300 screen then goes black. Yes i did have a custom kernel, I believe it was the latest Perseus one. I already tried this with a stock rom and it idnt work, it said it had passed but i still can boot the phone.

as you can go into download mode but not recovery, what about flashing CWM another time (if you did not try it already). Maybe it solves the issue with recovery and from there you could go on trying to wipe etc.
Other options would be to do a mega or super wipe (if this is possible from odin & download mode, not sure though), to get your phone completely empty (mega) or at least to factory reset (super).

The thing is there is nothing wrong with my phone in terms of hardware. The problem that I am having is purely software, I think I just need to restore my phone to a previous version. I did see that thread but didnt feel my post belonged there as my problem is nothing to do with broken battery or mobo or anything along those lines. Hence why I am posting here
Just factory reset via recovery then flash a stock rom via Odin .
No recovery flash CF root via Odin .

I did install a stock ROM and it was still stuck on bootloop, left it like that for an hour, still nothing. So I went into CWM (after flashing it) Wiped and factory reset (noticing it said error mounting /data but ignored) and then restored with a backup I had. it did say error mounting /data and so skipped that step. Still stuck in boot loop. now that I try wiping again the same error occurs, error mounting /data any ideas please?
I did have this problem a few days back. The only thing i did was downloaded my Carrier stock firmwaer and extracted boot.img and used Samsung galaxy toolkit and make a filé that i was able to use with Odin. Dunno if ot helps you but my Phone is still going strong

[Q] sgs3 system status-custom .. why?

hello , i have sgs3.
few weaks ago it stoped working,
it shut down and when i tried to turn it on it was stuck on the SAMSUNG logo.
and its not charging the battery.
couldnt get into recovery mode, and when i got into download mode it shows
i had an original 4.04 samung israel rom, and never tried to change it or customizig it.
when i tried to get service from samsung israel , they saw the download mode and said that i tried to custom my rom and wrecked the phone.
and i DID'NT.
im trying to find out why do they think that, why is that line
"system status - custom" showed up?
i didnt try to custom.. can it be becouse of a physically problem in the phone?
please help me.
thank u, Amir

had OTA a week before it happened.
and now i cant flash a new rom , they say the motherboard is damaged
Thread moved to proper forum.
can that OTA change that line to "custom"?
Not really ota updates are official firmware so it should leave that as Samsung official the only way you'll get that to be custom is by rooting and flashing custom firmware.
Sent From My Omega'd Galaxy S3 ...
Their have been some posts where users say OTA has changed it to custom .
I would argue this point with Samsung .
Or try flash stock firmware reboot and factory reset and see if it clears custom .

I doubt it; a stock (company based) build of Android has no customization in it, and the OTA updates install via recovery, therefore they "sneak past" the download mode. I mean (Please correct me, if I'm wrong, I've never [ever] done an OTA update on a Samsung Android device, so there's my XP gone.) but if you install software via CWM, it normally won't show up, in download mode, because they are two different parts of the system, and it basically thinks, that only original software gets installed via recovery (because obviously, not everyone on the world, knows what is possible with any computer.
So much from me
Hope I could help!

Try (Obv try this at your own risk, tho Odin is relatively safe)
Odin to flash a stock rom,
wipe everything (data,cache,dalvik).
Flash Siyah kernel,
use triangle away,
flash stock rom (to get rid of Siyah).
This should reset the counter to 0 and set everything to "Official".
I say to flash Siyah first because TA doesn't work all the time on the official kernels.
Next time, leave OTAs alone, just flash it in Odin when a new FW pops up on Sammobile
there is no option to flash a new rom .
few days ago i went to a lab and they said i need to change the motherboard..
it is too expensive so i didnt do it.
today i went to a different lab, they said (as i suspected from the beginning) that the flash memory is not working
and thats why in the 1st line there is no device name (should be i9300 )
and this is why the word custom is written in the last line..
my problem was that samsung israel declined my warrenty becouse they thought i flashed a rom , but i didnt.
so hopefully i can prove them that i didnt do it.
i'll see what happen tommorow when i get back my phone from the lab

[Q] Using P.A.C Rom 4.1.2 Not sure how to flash back to stock rom

Lets say I flash my current rom back to the stock rom via CWM, how should i proceed to remove CWM entirely? I need to send my phone into warranty because of a lingering battery issue. It dies out within an hour of using it from 100% battery and its REALLY annoying. I have a 5 year warranty on this phone and I'm thankful for that. I'm new on this forum. Perhaps there's a link I can refer to? Thank you and sorry if threads like these have been repeated.

Install/run Triangle Away to reset binary counter.
Reboot into cwm and use rom/kernel wipe scripts from here.
Reboot into download mode and flash your stock rom via ODIN from sammobile.com
By the way, if you have a battery issue just replace battery?

Stucked at relooping samsung logo

Hi guys i have a issue here.
My phone was initially rooted in clockworkmod and running cyogenomod 10. But the rom kept hanging which pisses me a little.
So, i did a stock rom install using odin. After the reflash, i can see and hear the startup music, thereafter, it starts to restart. From there on, it reloops at the samsung S3 GT-I9300.
I tried to send to samsung for repair and they couldnt resolve this. Instead the recovery mode was restored back to the original (without clockworkmod now).
With my issues, can you guys help me on this whether can i restore the phone again? Appreciate your comments!
*BTW, i had backup in clockworkmod on my external sd card.

Could not do factory reset in software because i cant even get to that.
Did the "reset" in recovery mode by deleting user data files, doesn't work
Is this a complete brick for me?
I do not wanna send in the phone for the MB changeout till i can resolve this.

If you wont read the basics then yes take to service and pay for a repair as you do not have a clue what you are doing its safer .

I also think something went wrong while flashing. As stated above, try factory reset and flash again. My guess would be you forgot to wipe your (Dalvik) cache, had a similar problem.

You said Samsung didn't manage to fix it? It it was a local repair center?
The only thing to do is to flash a whole complete stock Rom with Odin, see in stock roms there's I'm general section to grab one. You can try also to use Samsung s3 toolkit in original android section, stickies.. if you have a Rom image it will be easier to flash it with it no risk messing with Odin settings.
Perhaps you should read about pit corruption, it can be this also.

Just a short update, i had install clockworkmod. But still facing similar issues.
Tried PIT flashing method, still no help...
Hello.. I have faced similar issue in India with looping of logo on my Galaxy S3.
I went to the official service center and they flashed my phone 2 times with original stock rom but the issue did not go.
Finally they have to replace my phone's mother board completely and it got resolved.
I am still not sure how this has happened or is it some kind of virus.. but i was watching a video and my phone hanged and looping of logo started on my S3.
Good that my phone was under warantee so i did not have to pay any money...
But some senior members should through some light on it...
Hi Guys,
i managed to get it back to stock rom by flashing the below linked rom.
The samsung service are really......What they can't solve, they would use the worst scenario which is to change the board...
Actually i have been charged (30 bucks) by them which they can't resolve. They told me that they had flashed the ROM and that incured the charges....I was thinking wat dafuq....Cannot resolve still have the cheek to charge me. Anyway in short, they void my warranty because they saw the cwm. They were very happy when they saw that.... Anyway the warranty left 3 months, not of a issue to me.
For people who have the same issue with me, just flashed the rom (JB) that was in the below link. All the best.
