So I want to install CM10.1 on my HTC Evo 3D and I followed all the wonderful guides on the website. I got it rooted through HTC dev, then installed 4EXT recovery, then installed the latest superuser, and finally went through the JuopunutBear S-OFF process, All of it was sucessful but I still can't flash ROMs. This is the error get when I try to install any ROM (I've tried CM10.1, Pacman, and AOSP)...
Installing update...
assert failed: getprop("ro.bootloader") == "1.04.2000" [and it keeps listing various versions of getproped("ro.bootloader")]
E:Error in /sdcard/WILD-FOR-THE-NIGHT-06212013-shooter.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted
Any idea what the problem is?
Solution: I was on hboot 1.58 and I downgrade to 1.50. You can only use JB ROMs with hboots 1.57 or LOWER.
AOSP ROMs will only work with hboots 1.50 or lower. The error you are seeing is a recovery check to see what hboot you are running. What hboot version do you have?

I have 1.58 hboot but with the JuopunutBear installed. Also, I thought that might of been a problem but for CM10.1 one which requires 1.57 or higher, I get the same error.
No...CM10.1 WFTN is definitely 1.50 or lower...that is my daily driver

Ah I misread. It was 1.57 or lower. Is there a way to downgrade the Hboot without having to redo everything?
EDIT: NVM, found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30014044
Downgrade to 1.5, I'll let you know if this fixes the problem.
Okay, now its stuck on the Sprint loading screen and it says the bootloader is locked.
Since you're s-off you can just flash a lower hboot through the bootloader. You can search for the flashable hboot zips or you can use this. http://db.tt/rKbHRXDv
1.04 eng hboot, same that I use. Just rename it to PG86IMG.zip and put it on the root of your sdcard, and reboot to bootloader, and it should ask if you want to install. After it completes, and you reboot, you will need to delete the zip from your sdcard through the computer, then boot to recovery and either wipe cache or install a ROM.

I got stuck in a bootloop but I deleted the PG86IMG.zip with an SD card reader. Now I can flash ROMs perfectly fine (I just tested with CM10.1)
Great!

How did you manage that

I followed all the tutorials to downgrade hboot to 0007, revolutionary s-off method, installed recovery and rooted.
Then i downloaded the original rru for hboot 0007 then flashed that over the top, still left with s off and unlocked but no root, it then said there was an 48mb update for 3d games and security upgrades then flashed that,
Was left with hboot 0018, upto date radio and s-off with unlocked bootloader and flashed then clockwork touch recovery, not the shortest method but its working.
I never heard of these hboots in my life.

Where are directions for downgrading the hboot? Last time i checked that was impossible.
1. Unlock your bootloader with HTC Unlocktoken
2. Change your CID on fastboot
3.Re-Lock your bootloader
[If you already have europian CID and hboot 1.49.0018 you can pass first 2 steps...]
Yes Thats it Now all you need PG86IMG.zip on your SD card.
Download PG86IMG.zip http://www.multiupload.com/39NSAMWQU7 NOTE:it will delete all your internal memory. Before flash it make backup)
4. Put your sd Card to your pc copy PG86IMG.zip to your sd card root
5. Power off your phone.
6. Press Vol Down+Power to open hboot.
7. Let the device find the zip file and flash it.
8. Chk the hboot version now.
9. I thing I don't need to explain how to use Revolutionary tool
This isn't my work. These are just the steps I followed. The thread is in the first post.

You're good to go since you're still S-Off. Just flash a recovery and do everything you would normally.
I am trying to flash my phone with the RUU 2.13 so I can get the new firmware and flash meanbean. I am following this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31520093&postcount=11730) to do so. After following what Captain says, which is to relock the bootloader I can't get past the bootloader (which I now understand is normal right?) and then try to run the RUU through HBOOT, however I get the USB error. Is this due to the bootloader being relocked or am I missing the htc drivers on my computer?
Also, I'd rather go to S-Off, so if anyone could shed some light on how I would go from S-On to S-Off I would greatly appreciate it.
Which firmware are you trying to get on your phone? Because the way I'm reading it is you're using the older ruu file to try to get the newest firmware. Just wanna make sure you're using the newest ruu of 3.15 (came out December 22).

Ya wow can't believe how long it's been since I've flashed a rom. An old version of MeanRom has lasted me so long. I am on an old firmware (1.13) I believe. I want to preferably go from S-On to S-Off. Before, I tried Captain Throwbacks method (relocking the bootloader, flashing the RUU) however I ran into a USB Connection Problem with the RUU. So I am trying to figure out if it was because I didn't have the right htc drivers installed or something else. If S-On to S-Off would eliminate the need for those steps I would much rather do that. I am trying to get to the latest firmware. Thanks!
What Hboot are you on?
Edit: If you're on 1.12 you're going to have to go the Dirty Racun route, since Lazy Panda is no longer officially supported. This, of course, requires you to RUU to upgrade to either Hboot 1.15 or 1.19, then run Dirty Racun to get S-off. Getting S-off is definitely the way to go, as it can save you some headache down the road. Also, don't run the RUU for 3.15 (JB) as this will update your Hboot and currently there is no exploit to get S-off with the new Hboot. You can still unlock and root it, but you'll be S-on.

Hi i just finished updating my wife's phone. I went from rooted 1.12 to s-off 1.19 using dirtyracun. I then tried captain throwback's full firmware 3.15, but nothing updated. I tried running the 3.15 Ruu.exe which is how I got Hboot 2.09 the phone is stuck on the firmware in the topic. And now says tampered Locked on the bootloader screen. Do I need to rerun dirty racing?

You are still s-off. No need to run dirty racun again. Tampered and locked don't matter cause you are s-off. And the radio you have is the one from 3.15. And the 2.13 is based on the rom you are running. That will change to 3.15 or 3.16 when you flash a jellybean rom.
You should be able to get the full firmware zip for 3.16 from Captain_Throwback's thread. Make sure to follow the directions and check the md5.
Thanks for the help, I read up and realized I needed the twrp 2.3.1.0 recovery not 2.4.1.0. Successfully updated it to 3.15. Thanks again.

Hello i was trying to downgrade my hboot from 1.58 to 1.50 my evo has s-off and i need s-off in order to flash the rom CyanogenMod 10.1
the bootloader is JBear . and when i downgraded the cellphone just boots and boots not passing the welcome screen
i upgraded again to 1.58 but im wondering if there is another or better way to do it.
THanks
Try a different 1.50 hboot, maybe? Also, after hboot change the rom you had previously installed does not boot and you MUST format all partitions (except sdcard, ofcourse) before installing another ROM.

After hboot change you must minimally wipe cache and dalvik. I always do this and reboot recovery then restore my backup. Never an issue. It's not necessary to wipe all after an hboot change.

Similar Issue
I had that issue as well, only no one tried to help lol. I fixed it by flashing the RUU. That'll give you a clean slate to work from. I used hboot 1.4, and obviously s-off and am now running CM10.1.

make sure you wipe all partitions (except sd card) before flashing new rom. and for kitkat you need the latest version of 4ext recovery.
and you are sure you're s-off? does it show s-off in bootloader?

Update your radio version
Sent from my Evo 3D GSM using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
radio version shouldnt really be a problem if coming from 1.53 hboot unless you flashed a gb ruu. but just to be sure flash this in bootloader: http://d-h.st/ttm
then flash rom in recovery
