Hi!
I’m one of those strange people that WANT the Wifi to stay connected at all times.
I use the tab as a media router, directing media from 4 servers and 3 receivers in the house, quite cool actually...
Now the problem is that every time my tab looses Wifi, it messes up the list of servers/receivers.
I have a slight memory that the Wifi policy settings worked in the beginning, but now they don’t. Witch ever profile I choose, the Wifi is dropped when the screen turns of. I don’t have any powersaving app installed, and I have found a workaround in an app called Softlock. The only problem with softlock is that it seems to keep the CPU awake as well, and this drains battery.
Hopefully someone here in the forum can set there tab to the sleep policy “newer”, then shut of the screen, wait for a couple of seconds then turn on the screen and check the right bottom corner, if you have Wifi/Internet connection.
I am on 3.2, and if someone gets the “newer” disconnect policy working I might just have to bite the bullet and do a soft reset…
I've just selected the wifi disconnection policy to never. that seems to work fine.
Yup bug!
This is a bug on 3.2 for sure even after a factory reset setting the wifi policy to never the wifi connection is disconnected after about only 5 seconds with the screen off. Even setting the setting to never when plugging in and then plugging in the tablet the wifi still goes off as soon as screen turns off.
Other people are also having problem on Sony forum:
https://forum.sel.sony.com/viewtopic.php?f=105&t=11080
Got the same problem here but sometimes its fine.... even bought a new router today and still the same

When you set the Wifi disconnect policy to NEVER, sometimes it needs a powercycle (power off and on) in order for it to take effect.. hold power button for at least 3 seconds, choose OK when it asks you to shutdown. Then turn on again.
I am having this issue with the wifi disconnecting when set to "never" as well. However after a reboot it seems to work for a bit but then starts shutting off again. I think we can safely say this is a definite bug.
didnt stay awake long for 3.1 either..
I kept my tablet s on 3.1 for awhile to see if iit really needed the update it didnt but I opted for it regardless and it no setting change or application I've tried will keep wifi on I call either bug or sony wifi defect.

Let me know what they say. This is the response I received from tech support last week. I'm pretty sure this guy does not even have a tablet next to him or he can see its clearly a bug. And the stuff about it being the router and about it still keeping a connection when downloading is crap. We are not talking about when something is downloading it will keep a Wifi connection just when you put the tablet to sleep.
"I'm sorry that the issue still persists even after performing factory reset and updating the OS in the tablet. The tablet is not known by Sony to be defective in any way and we are not aware of any such issues. Sony does not address any comments published on, or quoted from a non-Sony website.
In that case, I suggest that you reset your wireless router or access point and your cable or DSL modem by removing and reconnecting the AC power source.
After resetting the wireless router or access point, try downloading any application from the android market, then turn off the tablet screen. After that, turn ON the tablet and check whether the application is still downloading. This is to confirm whether the issue is resolved.
If the issue still persists, I suggest that you contact our next level of Hotline Support team. You can contact our technical support team via phone using our toll-free number: 855-476-6982.
Reduce your call wait time. Use our priority service line (US only - Long distance charges may apply): 239-245-6476."

tbh its kinda like talkin to an advanced AI. Hope they really r aware of the problem and will get us an update soon.
well, it is reassuring that they are looking into it....
Mine had the issue for a week, but for the last 2 or 3 days, wifi policy has been prefect.. I wonder if that will go on forever, or if it will stop again if I power off my tablet and switch it back on
Question is now
How long before we get ICS Watched the Google/Samsung presentation and there is alot to like about the Android 4.0 changes. The drag and drop folders, the flipping away email, notifications, chats, apps you are done with, the people app and the improved voice to text are my favorite.
Oops wrong thread, sorry.
i had the same issue when i bought the tablet.. but after a day or so, and a few shut downs seems now is working as intended. Is been 4 days with no more disconnecting when screen goes off.

Its kinda hard to miss if ur not downloading anything or r remotely connected to ur PC f.e. But I tried it on three different devices...they all show "No Internet Connection" in the lower right corner once u turn on the display. It gets back access pretty quickly, but well thats not the problem.
Sony Mod got himself involved in the official Sony tablet forum. Lets hope for the best

You're absolutely right, it did lose internet connectivity even with the always on policy activated!
However this seems to be random, sometimes it does retain the connection, sometimes it doesn't... but definitely something going on there - not so much a need for me, but understandably in need of a fix!
now been over a week with consistent wifi performance, never goes off anymore when screen is locked.... I only had the problem for the first 4 or 5 days, but no issues since..very weird, but glad it finally works as desired.

but you only can solve it by having access to registry (interop)
Ive been using the camera without any issues so im not sure if it is related only to a couple apps or if its a possible problem with the camera that may get worse over time.
When using redlaser or att code scanner, after the item is done being scanned, the camera itself makes an audible click which is not a shutter noise. You can feel it, its not as strong a feel as the haptic feedback so i believe its the camera.
Is this something i should be worried about? Should i do an exchange on it?
On a side note, this click does not happen with the normal camera app or with any others ive used, just redlaser and att code scanner so far.
try factory restart

Yea i can confirm this…this is normal. I think happens because of the camera focusing.
Thank you guys for the feedback and suggestion Glad to know that its not an issue!

Actually, it turns out you DON'T need one!
Samsung thought about this long and hard...finally, they decided to add an actual button on the side of the phone that will do it!! You may see a (+), that means LOUDER. The (-) one means QUIETER! Samsung is the absolute best!
---------- Post added at 07:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:53 PM ----------
If you are still determined to get it even louder, you can check this link out.
The sound on my s9 plus seems to sounds a bit muffled and not crispy at all. Does anyone know what I can do. I think i can live with it but it's annoying compared to the crisp sound of my note 4
It's terrible in comparison to my S6 Edge+.
Every call so far, I have had to get people to txt me a number so I can call them back from a landline.
At this rate I'll be returning the phone.

I don't have any options around "HD calling" as I'm not in the US - I believe it's a Sprint or other US carrier option only.
If I understand the option correctly it's part of VoLTE?

I saw that there was a release in Germany a few days back to resolve call stability, which some sites also claimed to resolve call quality issues.
Version G965FXXU1ARCC by the looks of it. Can you post what version/build number your device now has? Mine is G965FXXU1ARC4.
https://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/ne...ndia-call-stability-wallpaper-quality-1830630
I placed a support call to Samsung yesterday, we did some troubleshooting including swapping the SIM for my wife's one.
I'm on Spark NZ, she's on Vodafone NZ, and the call quality with hers was perfect.
Her SIM is new, as her device (my Galaxy S6 Edge Plus) was the first she's had with a nano SIM.
My SIM is older, maybe 2 years old.
Anyway Samsung has grabbed hard onto that snippet of info and advised me to get a replacement SIM, and place a new support call if the issue continues.
@jeremysherriff - I am on R16NW.G965FXXU1ARCC
Well for me in Portugal , when i start a call with any one, the sound is really really good at the start i can hear them clearly, and then it gets lower, and lower , and worst and worst i don't understand why, i can still hear them properly, but not as clear as the start of the phone call
