If I ever find the .apk do i just install it from the SD card or do i have to move it to system/apps somehow? I DL'd some talk.apks for other phones and tried to install those and it fails, and i cant move them into the system/app directory with Astro... maybe i need to use some other tools? thanks, all very new to me lol

LG Optimus V. Like others, I deleted it because I didn't use it... or thought I had. Now my cousin keeps sending me messages and they disaply, but I cannot respond to them. Nothing happens when I try.
I would like to reinstall it so I can use it to chat with my cousin. I have tried several versions of "talk.apk:, but all have failed.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

[Q] Restoring stock TW Launcher

Hi
Finally - first post after just reading the forum, and for good start it's kind of how to questions.
So, as mentioned in the topic I need to restore standard TW Launcher on my device, at the moment it is broken thanks to my noobish operations. I tried to replace TW with the modded TW4.5.
TW4.5 doesn't work on my gs2 and to install it I just deleted the stock one. I made a copy of standard apk, but nothing happend when I copy it back into system/app directory. It also won't to be installed.
Now I use GO Launcher and I'm happy with it but the thought that standard one doesn't work make feel strange.
Please help
I had the same issue last night but got TW4.5 working fine in the end. However i did end up going back to the original anyway (some widget bugs that i probably could have sorted but couldnt be bothered -.-').
The way i got my original TW back was as follows:
1) Put the original touchwiz30.apk file and the .odex file back into /system/app.
2) Delete the Touchwiz4.apk
3) Try install the old launcher only to be told "Application not installed".
4) Reboot the phone and it should let you use the normal launcher again, use Home Switcher if youve set the other as default.
Hope this helps

Thanks a lot mate, this is what I actually thought, cuz it's simple and the most logical at all, but I lost my mind with this mess, so can I ask you/anyone for a favor to upload/send on email both of these files, please?

edit:
Problem's solved, I made silly mistake - I didn't recognize that the root uninstaller app did add the '2.3.3' phrase between file name and file extension.
U helped a lot by posting the correct file name.
Thanks
Thanks for the question I have the same problem.
can u post ur stock files cuz i ****ed up and didnt take backup plz?
Srry for lag, havent seen it. I'll upload it tommorow from work or if u need it earlier I suggest to download a rom based on stock one and you will find it (there's stock tw in villain rom for sure).

Request, stock email app

hi guys
I used titanium backup to backup the original email app on my gt 8.9. I later uninstalled it and as a result my social hub its not working any more. I try to restore it with titanium but it sucks. I was hoping there is a way to get my email app back.
thanks in advance.

Hi shahinfarhadi,
I extracted the original TW e-mail app from my GT-P7500 (ROM P7500XXKI) before I put the stock HC 3.1 e-mail app on it.
The requested files are odexed, according to my knowledge it might require a deodexing process before they work for your rom version. As far as I know you need the framework from the corresponding Rom for deodexing.
Could someone confirm my "deodexing assumption" and maybe she/he has a guide for deodexing on
hand
brgds
Andi
Thanks a lot Thanks Meter
i see if i can make it work

[Q] Removing unwanted apps from OS

Hi Everyone!
Great Work everyone. Keeping this forum alive helps a lot of novices like me.
I was looking for info about removing unwanted apps from the ".zip" file used for ROM installation.
I found this as an alternative, using root+Titanium to uninstall the unwanted apps.
My question:
" By removing the specific .apk and odex files from system/app folder will I be able to get rid of this unwanted applications? Also will this affect the performance of OS by anyway? Is it possible that phone might be bricked ? (not recoverable even using KDZ or re-flashing) "
I'm using a LG P500 with mik_OS [stable:6.5.8,testing:6.6.1] CyanogenMod 7.1.0 (Android 2.3.7) ROM on my mobile.
P.S: mik_OS ROM is clean and thin, but still this question/possibility kept buzzing me.
Refer this link about apps which can be removed from CM7

Read the description carefully before you uninstall the apk using Titanium..

Yes it helped. Thanks for the help. Hands up...
But what happens if i just delete an odex/apk file from "system/app" folder?
Curiosity continues...
You delete an odex - the app wont work
You delete apk - app gone forever and odex file does nothing

How about editing your first post, uploading the file somewhere, and putting these instructions underneath?
That would help a lot.

You may need to clear the cache from the recovery if it doesn't install, just install as an.apk.
