[Q] TWRP Help! - AT&T HTC One (M7)

I can't get the TWRP files off my "sd card". When I plug my phone into my windows 8 PC I get an error, and when I use my windows 7 laptop, they just don't copy. I have been trying to look around for solutions, and seem to find that I need to do some kinda of ABD pull, but I havn't been able to figure out how to do that. Time is important, as my phone has a dead pixel and I can only return the phone to the store hassle free within the next few days. I want to get this backup on my PC, or dorpbox, or really anywhere besides my internal storage so I can put it back on my new phone and not have to re setup my phone *again*.
How would I go about getting the backup off the phone, I am using CM 10.1 with teamwin recovery 2.6.0.1.

Was able to figure it out, hopefully ill get better at this rooting thang . Aint as easy as jailbreaking, but it is a lot more fun!

[Q] Cant delete anything.

Hey guys I have been trolling this forum for some very useful information, and it has helped me quite a bit, but on this one I am stuck. Every time I try and delete something on this phone (Samsung Vibrant) it just comes back. This was not my phone before, I am just trying to put it back to stock.
I have flashed the phone 3 times using odin, including using the re-partition option.
When I hook the phone up to the pc, and load update.zip into the root folder, and reboot into recovery mode, it says cannot find sd card/update.zip. Even when I go in and manually delete apps if I reboot the phone, they all just come back.
Am I missing something? part of me wants to say its something easy.. but I have searched and searched about this and found nothing. Is there a mod out there that does this? -Thanks
*edit* Oh, and it seems like any time I think I might get close, I get the little android and the triange w/ the exclamation point.
Bueller?
How are you deleting? What are you deleting? Why are you using odin to delete apps? Not enough info to help you.
Hi, I am just trying to totally wipe the phone back to stock, hence odin. I dont care about info being lost. But like I said.. if I go in and manage applications, and remove them manually, I restart the phone and like magic they are all back.. I am quite confused. I hook the phone up to the pc, open the phone and manually delete pics and songs that way.. unplug the phone from the pc, and its like i never did anything.

If you want to wipe the best thing to do is flash Eugene's Froyo that does not brick. That will get rid of EVERYTHING. From there flash JFD. That will give you the clean start you want.

Yeah, that is the problem. I already did that, and the stuff is still there. I did it 3 times. I flashed it with the 512 pit, did a re-partition and the JFD. Then went back and even updated it to the JI6 firmware, and loaded it with the stock kernel.
I'll help you out before you needlessly flash roms over and over and over.
Before you say, "WTF!!!! That doesn't answer my question" please read to the end.
1. As I understand your problem, you want to wide everything from your INTERNAL SD Card.
2. as such, The steps are as follows:
3. Go to settings.
4. Go to "SD Card and phone storage"
5. "Unmount phone storage"
6. "Format phone storage"
This is assuming that you are ALREADY on stock Rom.
If not, flash the stock first, then wipe your internal SD.
Remove your External SD and SIM card. *(Not required), but i'm paranoid, and this always helps me feel better on the off chance that something does happen while i'm wiping the internal SD.
GL
That was first thing I tried to do, sorry I didnt post that in OP. I tried to unmount and format using the in phone software. I have tried a hard reset using the button combinations on the phone. I have also done a factory format using the service code. All to no avail.
Thanks for the input.. believe me, if I could have avoided the time and hassle of reading about odin I would have. Odin was a last resort.
I dont know if this is helpful or not but after I format the internal sd.
Total Space: 13.18 GB
Free Space 12.31 GB
I am really beginning to think that the internal SD is broken/corrupted or something. As I said in the OP when I boot into recovery, it says it cannot find sdcard/update.zip. Furthermore, if I mount the usb as mass storage, and go into the folders and delete pictures/whatnot. Even if I unplug the phone from the computer, its as if I never did anything. The pictures will all still be there as if nothing happened. If I go in and manage apps, and remove them all one by one, then reboot the phone all the apps are there. These are all reasons why I think the internal storage is messed up.
I was/am quite confused. This is why I requested ideas from people smarter than me.. i.e you guys . Thanks for all the input this far, my OP was a little lacking I suppose.
Did you ever get problem resolved?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
@jorsh :
I had the same problem with u. Can't delete few old files that stored in the internal SD. Also, I can't use update.zip in the recovery mode. It says "cannot find sdcard/update.zip.
My phone also can't play MP3 file or 3GP file that transfered from other phone / PC.
Anyone can help us ?
How are you deleting the files?
What are you running?
the update.zip, are you guys talking about rooting, or clockwork recovery?
Sorry, thanksgiving was preventing me from following the thread. The problem is still unresolved. I was trying the update.zip in recovery mode, as far as I know there is no clockwork on the phone. I thought the update.zip was just a recovery image that the phone used as a basis for restoring the phone.

I have tried deleting files a few different ways.
Odin, directly via pc with usb mount, and using the software on the phone itself, and tried using factory formats/resets hard and soft.
What do you mean by what am I running?
i just buy a used vibrant. There are some photos & files in the internal memory. I can erase it with file manager, but when I restart the phone, those photos & files appear again.
Same thing with with the gmail account. This gmail account is sign up by previous user. I can't remove this account.
I already try using "factory reset", but it's useless. Those photos & gmail account still in my phone.
I'm running in 2.1 T959UVJI2
about the update.zip, I'm using for rooting. I can't root the phone too. I'm using the file "SGH-959 Root Update.zip" then rename it to "update.zip"
I put this update.zip that the root folder of my internal SD. Bad thing is, this file is gone when I restart my phone (turn off then turn on). So, when I goes to recovery mode, it always said : cannot find sd card/update.zip
anybody can help me ? pleaseeee. So frustated >.<
Yeah that sounds pretty much exactly like my problems.
Perhaps people are having a hard time helping because we cant determine what you are trying to do....
first, yes, there is a clockwork recovery... download rom manager from the market.
there are going to be folders on the internal memory you can not remove because the OS puts them there.
could you please say exactly what you want to do???
I am just trying to delete everything and basically restore the phone back to factory. But it seems like the normal ways of doing that are not working.
Use ODIN to go to stock ji6 or jk2. I have a guide in my signature
Once you reboot mount the internal memory and format it. Settings > sd card and phone storage

data recovery cause of accidental format: suggestions appreciated

So I was messing around on my nook color and vibrant. I decided to try out honeycomb using win32diskimager of course, but accidently put it on the wrong drive, which formated it. Now I haven't touch it since, instead booted to Clockwork on my vibrant and mounted the internal sd and am currently attempting one of those photo, video recoveries which is what I am trying to recover. Any suggestions on software or previous experiences since I am desperate right now? Also, should I format it again to properly scan it for any possible recovery files? I know, I screwed up on something ridiculous, but I know it's an easy fix if possible(simply a program or tool i hope)
If your lucky you might be able to get some data back (Maybe)
try this program for your computer point it to your phone and let it work to see what it can dig out.
http://www.piriform.com/recuva
EXAMPLE
take the word DATA now format it your left with ---- open spots to write on there is still data there but it only last until its wrote over

Aborted install from CWM

I have been scouring these boards for hours and can't find my exact problem so I think I need to post this as a noob. I did Albert Wertz's method of rooting my Nook Tablet 16GB which he states will void the warranty. Afterwards I showed version 9.9.9 so I think it was rooted however I never saw superuser and such. I did something where the main menu bar no longer appears when pressing the n button too, annoying, I want it back too.
Anyway I booted into CWM from SD and then removed my boot SD and installed another SD with the img files on it. I have about 4 img files on it from throughout the day trying to update to CM7 and then tried a restore and just a CWM flash, every img file I select starts to perform it's update and somewhere around "extracting files" it says "installation aborted". At first I thought I had a bad memory card but both cards behave the same so I think they are good (creating 70MB partition on the CWM). I did a system restore on it and now it reports version 1.4.0 but I still get all the same errors, I'm stuck. I've spent about 9 hours of messing with this today and can’t think straight. I am going to bed and will try tomorrow, but if anyone could please tell me what I am missing I would very much appreciate it. Happy Easter ! Thanks, Mark O

In CWM, you need to install from .zip files. It sound like you're trying to install .img.
Thanks... I was installing .zip files, not .img. I was pretty useless last night. I used Alberts 4_5SD recovery this morn and got it rooted to 9.9.9 and I had superuser and titanium backup so all was good. I ran NWM from internal on the tablet and told it to install ROM from the SD card. I pointed to the file and told it to backup, then install the new ROM it said an error had occured when I tried this. I then booted from another SD card to go to CWM and after the white screen with the box, it went into backup and then restored the ROM, however it took me back to a unrooted version. It looked for the ROM I wanted to load but that was on the other SD card. Now I am back at square one, frustrated...
I think I might have found the problem but I am not sure. When I was doing the original CM7 update I wrote CWM to the E drive, (MyNook) so now the drive reports a total size of .99GB with 433MB free. So CWM is installed on this drive and I think that is the proplem. Is there a way to get CWM off the E drive? If I can just uninstall it, will that be sufficient enough to get the root back and then correctly install CM7? Thanks again in advance.
I guess this is turning out to be an ongoing update from me, lol... I am back to a rooted Nook Tablet with 9.9.9 So since I am a glutton for punishment I will try again tonight to do the CM7. I simply deleted the CWM file that I found in the internal memory and it seemed to not hurt anything.
This time I am planning to download Indirect’s latest "NOOK Tab Recovery Flasher.apk" directly to my Nook Tablet, (at the inlaws now and no wifi
If I understand correctly it will install CWM direct on my tablet, I am just wondering where it will end up installed? Then I downloaded the file for internal CM7 installation, the file is named "Nook-Tablet-CM7-Alpha-Final-TEAM-B-signed" I have it and nothing else on the sd card. So when I run CWM from the Nook, I point to the .zip file on the SD card. Sounds easy but after three screw ups, I am aprehensive.
If someone could please confirm that this procedure and the files I am using are compatible and should work with my 16GB Nook Tablet. Again thanks very much and I hope all have been enjoying this Easter holiday........

The steps that you have listed in this post are correct. If you do this exactly, everything should go according to plan.
Indirect's great app installs CWM to the recovery partition of your device, overwriting the B&N stock recovery. You can always go back to stock recovery if need be, though, so don't worry.
Thanks Solar.Plexus
The procedure worked as I hoped. I don't understand what went so wrong in my first attempt but the main thing is my wife doesn't look at me with THAT look anymore, since she thought I bricked her 12 hour old NT.....

[Q] Clone my Rezound? (adb backup)

Well not clone, but you know..
I know similar topics have come up (even by me) but I thought maybe some fresh eyes/brains might have some new insight.
I've been going through CLNR Rezounds non stop lately, just got number 7 today.
Here's the thing, I've put more hours into making my device exactly how I want it than I'd care to admit. I know the conventional method is to just get a custom recovery and bam, erase, restore, whatever. But I don't want to be unlocking, rooting, s-off, etc with every replacement I get just to have to undo all of it and get the phone back to stock to send in and start over again.. I want to make sure my phone works...
The only "solution" I've found is using the adb backup over and over again hoping one of them comes out not corrupt..
from a command prompt (windows 7 through parallels on a mac) I get to where I need to be (platform tools) and run:
adb backup –apk –shared –all –f /backup/mybackup.ab
then to restore:
adb restore C:\backup\mybackup.ab
I make sure to take out or unmount my micro sd before and during all of this.
I get files ranging from 1-8.5gb's, yeah, lot's of stuff, no photos or videos either.
During the restores it goes fine then gets hung up on "com.android.sharedstoragebackup"
tl;dr
Full backups and restores (shortcuts, widgets, data, etc) till I get a Rezound that's not a POS, possible?
I know I'm very "ranty" right now, my brian is kind of fried 12 hours today alone trying to get this sh*t done.... not counting all the phone calls to Verizon in the past few days..I hope I'm not coming off rude or crazy. Thanks for any help you can provide.

[Q] Used Nook Tablet Won't Download Any Apps

So here's my problem. I recently bought a Nook Tablet (hardly used) at a garage sale. The owner had rooted it when she got it, and she said she simply "no longer needed it", but I think she simply just screwed it up beyond her ability to repair. She factory reset it (which obviously did not get rid of root) before she sold it, and now that I have it I cannot download any apps. However, I can download books. Also, whenever I turn it off and then back on, I get this error message: "The application DownloadAdmin (process com.bn.nook.dadmin) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." I took it to a Barne's and Noble a few days ago and explained the situation, and the lady there said that what the problem is is that when they rooted it they turned off automatic updates, so now the only way to fix it is to reroot it and turn auto-updates back on.
I attempted to reroot it, but so far I have not gotten any luck. I tried installing CWM by reformatting an SD card and using that, but instead of automatically booting into recovery mode it just booted like normal, presenting the files on the card simply as unreadable, useless files. I don't really know what to do, as it seems that no matter what I do I am unable to complete the process because of whatever problem my Nook is having. Any advice, leads on what I should do, etc?

Well before doing anything else I recommend just using the repart image which will take your Tablet back to stock 1.4.2. Write this image file to a SD card (using win32diskimager) and put it in your NT. Once you get the green checkmark take the SD card out and it will start to restore your NT to stock.
http://raywaldo.com/2012/06/make-unbrick-repartition-image/
If you have any problems just shout them out.
Whether you...
go back to stock and then root, and just use the device like that (which is not really what I think most might consider the best option), or
just go straight to a full Android ROM (which is already rooted "out of the, errr, 'box'")
My recommendation would be focus on the second option.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2056626 is the way to go, just use the latest versions of files as follows:
The newest version of cwm_6.0.*.*_acclaim_recovery_sdcard.img from here instead of the others in step 2b.
The newest or the stable version (your choice) of CyanogenMod from here instead of the one in step 2c.
The newest gapps-jb-2013* from here for step 2d.
If you have any problems, describe the steps you took and we'll help you out.
Good luck!
Don't confuse the eMMC and SDC versions of the ROMs. The SDC image isn't the same as the .zip files. You write the .img files to an SD card and it creates the 4 partitions (boot, system, data, sdcard) for the SDC version of the ROM. You can use the .img file to create the partitions then install the zip, or manually create the partitions and install the zip.
If you want to internally install CM then follow the instruction InUrKitchen gave and use a non SDC file.
