Hello guys, Sorry for posting a new thread, I understand it's unwelcome, but I've been looking around for a bit now and can't seem to find a solution to my problem.
So what's happening is that a while ago I rooted my device and installed Jellybam 7.2 something... Recently, I wanted to update Jelly Bam to the latest version and so I downloaded it using ROM manager and lauched the install from the recovery mod.
Problem is that now, my phone doesn't start anymore, it turn's on, the Samsung Galaxy stuff appears on the screen and stays there, nothing else is coming. Been like that for hours.
So if anyone can direct me to a solution to recover my phone in a working state, that would be awesome.
I tried to recover backups but didn't work
I tried to swipe all data and cache and to do a factory reset, nothing worked, I'm running out of ideas. Please someone.
Peace to you all
Morgan
Common solution is to flash the stock rom via odin on your pc, plenty on guides how to do in the stickies.
Also, questions should be posted in q&a forum, you can request a moderator move it for you.

No not unwelcome at all all are welcome except when its a question that has been asked day after day after day and been answered .Or users dont want to bother themselves by reading the basic faqs and guides .

If you can't get into recovery or download mode it can probably be Sudden death syndrome.
I think u have flashed a wrong version.
I have heard multiple people saying that they have stuck at Samsung logo after flashing a wrong file.
Are you sure that you have flashed a I9300 version ?

Hey guys, thanks so much for your answers. I'm pretty sure I've downloaded the version for my I9300 as I got careful with that detail while rooting, flashing etc... Though, my version of Jelly BAM was the 7.2 something and the new one 9.something... maybe the upgrade was not possible from mine to the new one... Flashing the stock version seems to me to be the way to go. I'm gonna try that and let you know if it worked.
Sorry for misplacing the question, how do I request a moderator to move it ?
Peace y'all!

Stuck in the process.
Hey everybody, so I've started to work on flashing the stock rom on my s3 i9300 and I'm following the tutorial located here
androidrootz.com/2013/06/how-to-unroot-galaxy-s3-on-mac-osx.html
I have a problem now, the step 10 of the tutorial tells me to locate aboot in Heimdall's flash tab after locating the pit file from my phone that I saved in step 5.
10. Click on "Add" and select "ABOOT". Then click on "Browse" and locate "aboot.mbn". It is the folder that was renamed and untarred. Then click "Add" and do the process again for the all files in the folder (watch the video above for detailed instructions).
aboot.mbn --- ABOOT
boot.img --- BOOT
cache.img.ext4 --- CACHE
NON-HLOS.bin --- MODEM
recovery.img --- RECOVERY
rpm.mbn --- RPM
sbl2.mbn --- SLB2
sbl3.mbn --- SLB3
system.img.ext4 --- SYSTEM
tz.mbn --- TZ
Problem is that I can't see anything called ABOOT in the scroller it should be in. Even weirder, the tar file I got from the stock rom I downloaded doesn't contain that "aboot.mdn" the tutorial is talking about.
Anyone knows about that ?
Thanks a lot

Not sure. You may need to add "Heimdall aboot?" to your thread title to get a more targeted response now as the scope of your original issue has changed. Now you need heimdall support.
Or maybe create a new thread with this new issue?
Ok
Ok, I will do that. Thanks

Hey guys,
I posted a new Thread with a better title here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2379894 but I got no answer whatsoever. When I make a google search about my problem, the first result is actually my own thread so I don't know if anybody got the same problem before. Can any of you tell me where I should look for help conscerning Heimdall and my particular problem.

Hi. Maybe you can try to flash IT with oder in a win PC. Maybe one of your friends does own one. Since there is obviously no one Who can help you Witherspoon flashing with heimdall.

And now I get stuck at the yellow triangle.
The phone doesn´t boot.
tried to pull the battery out. and tha push it back. boot.
Still stuck at the Triangle.
what to do
edit: I received this phone 28th of june so maybe this kernel is not available for download yet?
Flash another rom with odin ???
If you get that far then you should be able to get into Download mode. Please try:
Code:
Power off
Hold down Home and VolumeDown buttons at the same time.
Whilst the above buttons are held, press and hold power.
Release all buttons when you get a message pop-up stating something about Download mode/Custom ROMs.
If this is the case, then the device can be resurrected.
What to do next:
If I were in your position, I would use Odin to reflash the whole installation back to stock using this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Download the files from here (also in the above URL)
http://www.multiupload.com/P2AHY9IJPW
it will put you back on stock everything.
I used the XXKF2 PHONEDA/CSC.
The flashing will take about ten mins., or there abouts.
After you have this back and you are relieved that it works, you can flash the Chainfire CF-Root for XXKF2 (also written as KF2) as a PDA file in Odin. This will give you a rooted stock kernel.
Forum is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Exact file is here with root stock kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=630777&d=1308560511
I hope that this helps. Please remember to read the parts about how to flash using Odin, as people seem to like ticking the wrong boxes, even when the guides are pretty specific about what one has to do.
Best of luck.
Regards.
P.S I have used XXKF2 above because it pretty recent, I have used it myself, and the battery life on KF2 is very good.
Isn´t this a kernel problem?
Agreed that it could be a kernel problem, but I don't know.
I was aiming for a complete restart from scratch solution.
Of course, he could just flash the right CF-Root for his installation, so long as he knows what kernel he had before, and that the last kernel he flashed was the correct version.
Thanks! I will try your to install ALLstock as you stated in your first post!
This is what I get when trying the stock tar.

DUDE STOP.
You said you have a GT-I9100G, right???
Though they are similar, the GT-I9100 and GT-I9100G are actually two different phones, with different hardware, and different components. The firmwares and kernels are NOT compatible.
If you flashed a kernel and/or ROM that is specifically for the GT-I9100 (and NOT for the GT-I9100G), then you have screwed the pooch on your phone, and will likely have to take it to a service center.
EDIT: You should look here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2068824. It may contain help for you.

Dude, you're trying to install a ROM for your GT-I9100G, quoting a thread specifically for it. You would be MUCH better off asking for help in THAT thread instead of this one.
Asking for help with your GT-I9100G in a thread that is more likely to be viewed by users of the GT-I9100 model isn't likely to get you much useful advice or guidance.

Hi, can someone who has the US version of Galaxy Player 4.0 (yp-g1cwy/xaa) please make a flashable rom backup of the firmware and upload it?
Thanks
I have access to a 4.0 player recently bought from amazon. How would I go about dumping the rom? Would this also dump the persons information with it or is the memory range limited to just the rom?

You will need a rooted device first, but that can be easily done if you just search around the forums.
Twobits, or anyone could you please make the firmware from the guide given?
The other day I let my friend use my player, and he was stupid and opened titanium backup and accidentally deleted a whole bunch of system apps. I had not backed then up yet, and so now my device is super buggy and many things don't work right.
Just use terminal emulator from the market and first type "su" (you need to root your device first), then copy paste those commands under system, kernel, and recovery to create three files on the root directory of your phone. Then can you upload them to a site (such as mediafire, megaupload, etc) and post or pm me the links?
Thanks. I would really appreciate it if you could help me.
Can anbody please help me?
I really need the firmware urgently.
Thanks.

l (minus L)
from choucas06:
But you only have to make a backup a of the Sytem and the Kernel (recovery is not needed).
To backup the system, the correct command for YP-G1 is :
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/stl9 of=/sdcard/factoryfs.rfs bs=4096
For the kernel, it is :
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/bml7 of=/sdcard/zImage bs=4096

When odin recognize this mode it's a form a download mode. At this point you have 2 choices.
1. send to samsung for a little fee
2. hope for someone to backup a rom
I would like to help you but I have a non-US player (maybe that depends of what you have)
I have backup files I did with terminal emuator, don't know what to do with them though, I read you need to have linux to make a backup rom, I only have windows.
Why would samsung charge, isnt it under warranty?

He still has to figure out how to parse the filename himself...
Which I personally thought was obvious. But some don't find it that obvious.
I look at it more like I put the spoon in the food for him, and now it's up to him to get it to his own mouth.
My hope is posts like mine (and Bruce MJ's) help guys like muzzyx with the critical thinking, and learn to read entire posts before just jumping into stuff they don't necessarily understand.

Because you re-flashed a stock firmware during the course of your fix, if you followed that guide correctly. You'll have to re-root. Root does not persist firmware flashes, unless the firmware you're flashing is pre-rooted.
Flash a stock kernel = lose root. Flash a CFRoot kernel or root your phone again via another method. Or flash a custom rom/kernel.

Read this
when I flash this 'official' ROM, 4.2.2 leaked official XXUFME7
it changes the IMEI to 0049990xxx...,
and so I get only emergency calls allowed for the phone...
the rest looks ok, but I reverted to last 4.1.2 -
I am on O2 monthly contract - is that a problem?
otherwise, even though it lost phone capability, everything else seemed cool...
any idea around this without having to fiddle trying to restore the IMEI back to original...
when I flash back the last official released 4.1.2, the IMEI corrects itself...
a guru at O2 finds it weird... LOL! and said O2 does not support flashing with Odin, only through Kies...
Please Read one of the hundred other threads saying that you need to use mg4 modem since the latest released mg4 4.1.2 rewrites the efs partition.

this is how:
1. rename I9300XXUFME7_I9300OXAFME7_I9300XXUFME7_HOME.tar.md5 without .md5 extension i.e.
I9300XXUFME7_I9300OXAFME7_I9300XXUFME7_HOME.tar
2. in Linux delete modem.bin from the resulting .tar archive
3. flash, with Odin 3.04, I9300XXUFME7_I9300OXAFME7_I9300XXUFME7_HOME.tar (that had modem.bin removed)
This will keep the correct modem.bin of KIES_HOME_I9300XXEMG4_I9300OXAEMG4_1314436_REV00_u ser_low_ship.tar.md5
and so solves the problem...
and all this can be done without rooting...

Hi All,
In Windows delete modem.bin from the resulting .tar archive using 7zip program. I just deleted the modem from this rom and its working perfectly. Thank you all for the Help. God bless you guys. Take care.

1. Flashed 4,2,2 without backuping EFS and got that imei or efc corrupted.
2. Flased back to original stock 4.1.2 and its still the same,,

dont have an UART cable to solve this.. usb only wont work this time,.. so need another soluton..
Hi,
We have a sticky thread all about IMEI / EFS issues. This is because if you do a search here now, you'll find literally hundreds of threads all about the same thing.
Please go to:
general > Sticky roll-up thread > "IMEI / EFS - Know this stuff"
... have a read. If you have further questions, please feel free to ask them in that thread. We set it up to try and keep the forum tidy.
Thanks

Ok, after some time i managed to delete Modem.bin via Linux.
I had STOCK 4.1.2 and flashed to 4.2.2 without Modem.bin, but as a result i get nothing changed.. its still 004999...
Did you read the above thread in detail? Please do. Its all been covered multiple times, hence the sticky thread.

Heh.. my bad...

Here is a potential working PIT file for the P600 on MK1 (32gb):
http://relic.gdiny.com/~dasmoover/android/sgn10/p600_MK1.pit
I encourage other members with different devices and different ROM versions to run this command and upload your results:
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/devicemodel_romversion.pit bs=1 skip=17408 count=4244
You can check the layout in the tool PIT Magic:
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/pit-magic-lets-you-create-analyze-and-edit-samsung-pit-files/
Hope this helps a few people out.
I will update the thread as new models and versions are posted.
Thanks.
Thanks for creating this useful thread
And here`s mine , P601 variant 16GB - MJB
Sm-p600 mk1 16gb

I did a windiff on our 2 analysis files and the only difference was the file names and dates.. shouldn't they have had some variance due to 32 vs 16 gb?
The only issue is none of these are samsung signed so they fail the usual ODIN method.

Samsung has to release one. I have the Source but it doesn't seem to be anywhere obvious.
Or we find a way to flash the PIT without signature analysis.
Here is mine. I guess it is only useful for ppl who is from Turkey cos Samsung created a model which called sm-p602 only for here (Which is almost same with p601 but dont have phone call feature. Meanwhile i am trying to port p601 firmware to this device but i dont have a useful pit. I tried lsherif's pit file yet seems like there are a problem with the pit cos it is not re-partitioning my device and also when i check with pit magic i got error. So an 16 gb sm-p601 pit will be useful if someone upload

So anyway to signed them Cuz I'm suffering from some proplems and no pit file can work on my s6500 via Odin so I created pit file from this method anyway to flash it or sign it to be flashable via odin

Sorry to ask such a stupid question...but what the heck does a PIT file do that helps out? Not trying to be an ass, just don't get it. Or is it just another name for the firmware file?
don't recall it being called a PIT when i was working on my previous samsung devices anyways....i had one of these tablets but returned it because there was zero dev going on - now there's a small amount, but it's just not seeming to be worth the huge cost of the device to me. Which sucks, because it's a killer unit... if samsung was to release the LTE model in north america then that would be more alluring... HEAR ME SAMSUNG? RELEASE IT DAMNIT!
Hello i tried to execute the script but it doesn't work. I see cmd screen opening and closing very fast. Can somebody make a tuto to extract .pit file.
Thanks
The PIT Files are essentially useless unless we find a signed version or another method of flashing it to the device.
Hello. Can someone upload sm-p605 16GB pit file. I bricked my tablet so I can't do anything, and I think I damaged my hidden - /dev/block/mmcblk0p25 I guess I was formatted it wrong format. I can't flash any ROM's via Odin, I can flash recovery, root using Odin.

You need a proper root - Super SU; a proper installed Busybox then plug it into PC, open EFS professional or some program that allow to extract all partition you need. That's at least thing I knew from owning Note 2.
