We'll have an AT&T dump soon as they start being delivered as well. Seems there was an issue with the one we ordered though <insert extremely pissed off emoticon here>

My wife and I. She ordered one for me for a v day gift.
Dev will be slow at first so if this is a first android for anyone, be patient and help however you can. We don't have a device so no CWM or custom kernels yet. Once we do things will start rolling.
<insert witty signature here>
First android noob here. Will have mine Friday. What can be done to help? Or just keep an eye out for talented devs on these boards and do whatever they say?
This isn't development - when a dump actually takes place, a thread can be placed in Development, not before.

Unfortunatly, I didn't have any luck with this method.
I installed adb drivers from the windows version of Samsung Kies. (You can download it here)
Adb connects, files are pushed, but for some reason, no root.
Tried with Superoneclick as well and same no luck.
I am still going go try tomorrow.
No promises

No reports of this working for the i717 yet but I will give it a shot when I get home.

Didn't work for me either and it even messed up my phone. Can't access my internal storage from PC now! Tried restart on phone but still didn't work. The computer doesn't even detect it. But one thing i haven't tried is to restart the computer (didn't have time) so not sure if it's the phone or the PC.

Don't post system dumps from other carriers/countries in AT&T Note forum. Despite what you think - it's not the same. It may have the same hardware, but software wise those are very different firmwares and attempting to flash cooked roms from another carrier "will* cause problems.
- Telus version has worknig NFC, AT&T Note has it disabled in the firmware
- LTE has 16 bands and the ones, used and enabled from Telus are not the same as the AT&T version
- AT&T Note has embedded software configuration settings for voice GSM, data HSPA+, LTE networks, voicemail, etc'. All those are very different from Telus and there is no telling how easy it'd be to manually restore all those AT&T settings to assure fully functional operation of all radios
- AT&T Note has a lot of bloatware, Telus has less and different stuff
- Each carriers has customized their firmware according to their security needs. Protection may not be the same, and bootloader & radios firmwares may not be the same on AT&T and Telus.
List goes on. It's a bad idea to post here system dump from another carrier & country.
That doesn't mean the Telus dump won't be useful, and despite the AT&T in the title of the forum, this is also the forum for his device (forum name should really be I717, imo). Go ahead and post the dump if you can; just make sure it's clear that it's a Telus and not an AT&T dump.

Well not really. The system dump will definitely help with development of the ATT Note. Im was running Rogers based roms on both of my skyrockets. No ATT bloat and NFC enabled. Having the system dump will help devs build a compatible rom for the ATT note as well. And pretty much everything you listed as being different was built into the roms I had on both skyrockets. Only thing that had to be done was APN settings
Judging by your signature you have a serious problem, my friend. I think you may require rehab, or at least an intervention. I have a friend in FA (flashaholics anonymous) who can help get you started.
hi,
i just bought a razr a couple days ago on the fido network here in canada.
its unlocked now and im using it on the rogers network.
i cant seem to find a straight answer anywhere; is there any OTA official rom from another country that will work on this phone, flawlessly?
thanks

there are 2 fastboot files that are guaranteed to work: Retail.BR and ViVo.BR.
u will need RSD Lite to flash.
once there, there's a few nandroid backups you can do too using CWM recovery.
Just wait for ICS. I was a rom flashing junkie with my atrix and its difficult but I am waiting this one out. Hopefully ICS is worth the wait. (Im on Fido)

exactly my thoughts, im coming from a nexus s (way too much time spent flashing modded roms then ota roms then modded roms .. ) and id really like to stay stock from now on, without the headache of drivers, adb, cwm, recoveries, radios, etc.
i guess i'll wait for an official one seeing as there arent many options, i dont want to run into something not working .

with the brazilian ROMs, the only stuff not working are the Rogers bloatware. everything else is pretty much the same.
so really, there's not much reason to update.
i did it coz i screwed up my stock ROM after rooting it, and pretty much didnt have any stock Rogers ROM anywhere.
just wait for ICS. Moto promised us Q2 2012, but with Rogers/Fido, who knows..............
Hi,
Well, I know that this is na old phone, but let's try to fix...
I have a Samsung SGH-T589 (Gravity Smart), originally from T-Mobile, but now unlocked. Since I'm in Brazil, tha 3G connection doesn't work. After some (and for some I mean months) time of research, I figured out that T-Mobile Works on a diferent 3G frequency than brazilian ops. But, I've also figured out that maybe (and just maybe) could be possible fix this by flashing the SGH-T589W (Gravity Smart/Galaxy Q) or SGH-T589R firmware on this phone. There were no problems related until now... but I'm having trouble to find this firmware. Tryied Samfirmware, Sampro, and many others...
Anyone have this file or I should just retire this phone once and forever?
Thanks everyone.

Well, it wouldn't be helped by the t589W because that also uses the weird 1700/2100 AWS bands for 3G service. The R would be the way to go, if it were possible, but even if it did flash successfully, the phone still has a hardware limitation where it just doesn't support other bands, despite what radio/modem you could install.
If you wanna try though, just for the heck of it (at your OWN risk - I do not think this will work. Not likely to hard brick it, but will probably need to restock with the correct firmware if it fails):
http://www.bergfiles.com/i/bf38cacda3hci0#
And you'll want the official firmware flashing Odin version for the phone, because for some reason it doesn't work with the regular Odin ones:

My phone only works on EDGE and now I've found why...
This model uses 3G over the 1700/1900 Mhz ... All operators in Brazil works with 3G over 850/2100 Mhz...
So, no luck for me...
Now, I'll try to swap this phone on eBay or something like...
If you know someone who wanna change a phone, please tell me...hehehehe.
Thanks for everything! Now I can sleep in Peace....
Hey now!
I just rooted/flashed my AT&T Galaxy S5 with AllianceRom - Build 3 to use with T-mobile.
I would like to know if I can get wifi-calling and VoLTE to work with my phone with this ROM or would I need to download the stock Tmobile ROM in order for it to work?
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!
Your post would fit better in your custom ROM thread, where 99% of the readers will be using the same ROM. Here, only a minority of people will have any specific experience with that ROM.
Does your custom ROM include wifi calling? Are people reporting wifi call success or failures in the custom ROM thread?
Has your custom ROM been updated to include the recent VoLTE update e.g. the equivalent of G900TUVU1BNF6? If so, you should be fine. You have a locked bootloader, but AFAIK that shouldn't interfere with wifi calling. You just need the features configured in the ROM.
Given your locked bootloader, you should do your research before you flash firmware from another carrier. Trying to flash a TMB bootloader, kernel or possibly even stock TMB recovery may put your bootloader in a position of having to choose between incrementing Knox or bricking your phone for you. And we're assuming that you wouldn't want that.

VoLTE is modem specific. If you don't have the T-Mobile modem, you won't have VoLTE (so unless you want a brick, do NOT flash the T-Mobile radio to your ATT device. You will NEVER have VoLTE) I didn't have VoLTE until i flashed the NF6 (first update to include VoLTE) modem. Even with a T-Mobile device. Once i flashed the full tar that included the modem to NF6, i got VoLTE. So you will never have that.
As far as WiFi calling, as long as its present in the frameworks and ROM, last i understood, it should work. I know when i had my S4 people flashed a T-Mobile ROM to their ATT S4 and had WiFi calling. So long as you have a T-Mobile SIM as well. Ensure the ROM supports it as fffft stated.

If root is broken on your phone, then redo your root. It certainly isn't broken for all ATT phones. Nor is the Alliance ROM likely to be broken for ATT phones i.e. 900A either. And of course you can use towel root. It's a good habit to do a forum search before posting.. then you'd be able to pose better informed questions.
To use towel root, you simply have to use a pre June 3rd stock ROM as a base. If necessary, use Odin to write a pre June 3rd 4.4.2 ATT firmware to your phone.

I used towel root in the first place to get my phone to install roms. I've no problems with root with AT&T roms.
Forgot to mention but the Alliance rom that I tried to install was made for t-mobile so I can use wifi-calling/ISIS. That might be the reason why root doesn't work?
If anyone is able to install tmobile specific rom on their AT&T s5, please help me out.
Thanks!

Im on att s5 on tmobile alliance. all u need to do is rerun towel root and download busybox again. Once i did that everything worked correctly with root apps like titanium backup. Also good to know about the modem so that means we r f'd with volte unless the very unlikely att/verizon bootloader is unlocked.

I had the ATT gs4 using it with Tmobile and had the same issue and never solved it. Im not saying it cant be done but I was told I might be better off just trading my s4 for the tmobile version .. Ended up just buying a Tmobile s5 .. Also my bootloader was locked on my ATT s4 and that was reason enough to dump ATT . No kernels = No att for me
If you find a solution for wifi calling let me know. I do have a buddy with att s5 asking me about it

I posted the solution in another thread. Basically, with a combination of the OA1 ATT firmware, safestrap and Alliance Rom, you can achieve Volte and Wifi calling with a tmobile sim card on a G900A.
edit:
- added link
- be careful not to take the OC4 update from ATT, or it will not work.

You can go to About Device in the settings, and look at the last three characters of the Base version field. If you see NCE, ND3, NG3 or OA1 you're fine.
It seems that I can try to follow the instructions on this thread but not sure what ATT firmware I should be installing since new updates have been released since OA1. Can someone tell me if I should install entire Tmobile ROM including modem with Odin?
Guillaume2x said:
Guys, I have some great news. Both wifi calling AND VoLTE now work on my SM-G900A on the T-mobile network. Here is what I did:
I installed the latest ATT firmware (OA1), released earlier this February. OTA update did not work, so I had to flash the original firmware (ANCE) via Odin, and then flash the two subsequent updates using update.zip on the SD Card. This will remove safestrap and root, but fear not.
Once my phone had AO1 installed, I used this tutorial to root the phone again. It invonves temporarily flashing an earlier (ND3) kernel, using TowelRoot, and then reflashing the OA1 kernel
With my OA1 rooted, I installed safestrap. Make sure you install busybox first.
With safestrap, I installed the T-mobile Alliance Rom (build B4).
Seconds after booting, both Wifi Calling and Voice over LTE work!
Enjoy!
Guillaume

Great to hear, thanks again.
Thanks for the upload!!! I wanted to switch my phone to the Verizon firmware but wanted to make sure I could first get back to the latest AT&T firmware just in case. I was able to flash this over my existing AT&T firmware just as a test and indeed it's the same version which is also the latest as of today (4/17/2017). It wipes your data of course but I used Samsung Switch to backup everything up first and worse case scenario I just setup all my apps again just takes extra time.
UPDATE: I needed to use moded Odin to flash the latest Verizon firmware from updato.com after flashing the firmware posted here due to the SHA256 error. After I used the moded Odin from the XDA post below it worked fine.

Thanks for this! Flashed this last night with no problems.
AT&T to Verizon to AT&T
Just in case anyone is curious like I was about switching their Galaxy S7 to Verizon from an AT&T model like I did (and why I looked for this firmware) it works well. You can flash the latest firmware from updato.com for the SM-G930V on top of the stock SM-G930A and it works perfectly. It will wipe your data but that's to be expected. In the end coverage was not good at my house so I switched back to AT&T. It wasn't the phone or the firmware though because my mom's brand new Verizon iPhone almost had worst coverage than I did. At work I got pretty decent coverage and decent speeds on Verizon. Also using LTE discovery I verified it was connecting to bands the AT&T phone was not suppose to have. I was able to use this image to flash back to AT&T in the end and had everything working like before. Samsung switch doesn't backup stuff that well and in the end I just factory reset again and restored from a Google backup. Still required some app setup, but in the end it works just as before and again getting the AT&T only bands. Thanks again for posting this very useful image.
