I tried install RUU_PROTO_U_ICS_40A_HTC_Europe_1.18.401.1_Radio_10.21.40.06U_1.10.40.23.exe, but it stuck on "Error 155". In the bootloader was written that:"Hboot version is older". My hboot 1.24.Can anyone help?
Did you relock bootloader before you run the RUU ?
Error 155 - usually due to bootloader not relocked
Yes.I do it two times, but it still didn't work.

hI guys this is what I done.
1. Root with HTC supertool v3
2. checked bootloader still said 1.49.0018
3. downloaded the correct RUU from here for my device Europe.
4. Ran the RUU and it allowed installed the lower version
5. completed and booted into Hboot, which is now 1.49.007
6. rerooted with HTC supertool
7 And unlocked bootloader with rev tool no relock note if you want to relock bootloader.
8. Ran RUU again went into bootloader now says locked.
9. Checked OTA updates found it
10. Installed update now back to 1.49.0018 LOCKED, but by the looks of it you will be permantly s-off, unless the next update puts it back to s-on.
I am not responsible if anything happens to your device

You probably don't have superuser installed... Install the recovery via fastboot
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA
Try downgrading your bootloader to 1.40. The file is in the sticky.

Are you s off for real or just HTC dev unlocked. You can flash recovery through fastboot in either case.

Agree with the above poster. My guess is that you're s-on and the radio flash didnt go as you expected.

hboot-0.57
when I root my htc ari with unrevoked latest version
this error has been got every time.
validation error backup cid missing
what shoud I do
You should update your hboot to 1.02 by fetching the official HTC update, then unlock the boot loader with revolutionary a d after that you can try unrevoked again.

Ok here is the skinny on the situation:
I began with an unlocked bootloader & S-OFF using the wire trick & 4ext
After loading the borked CM9 yesterday, to recover I used the RUU for T-Mobile

I want to first say thanks to the unlimited.io team for making S-OFF possible.
Secondly, by following these instructions you are acknowledging that should something go wrong and you brick your device, I am not at fault nor are the developers of the S-OFF method for the HTC RUBY. Follow these instructions at your own risk! I am NOT a dev, just stupid enough to be the first one (I think) To try this. I am not going to give instructions on how to use fastboot, if you are S-Off, then you should already know.
Third, you WILL be able to re-unlock your bootloader and regain S-OFF after you have followed these instructions. If you want to do so, there are other threads on how to do that.
And 4th, I have only tried this on a tmobile branded device. I have no idea if this works on any other device. I think it should, but I don't know for sure. If anybody wants to give it a try and let me know, then i will update the OP.
Now to the steps.
1. Download the stock ruu from here
2. Lock your bootloader by using the fastboot command "fastboot oem lock"
Now my bootloader displays:
***LOCKED***
RUBY PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.93.0002
eMMC-boot

When attempting to flash a recovery with latest Hasoon 5.1 toolkit
or
using the recovery.zip from dcacklam
I'm presented with:
C:\ADB\fastboot flash recovery c:\adb\recovery.zip
seding 'recovery' <6320 KB>... OKAY [ 1.513s]
writing 'recovery' ... FAILED <remote: not allowed>
Finished. total time: 1.839s
So I attempted to unlock via HTCdev bootloader procedures and I'm presented with an the following error:
Unlocking Bootloader Failed!
Sorry it didn't work out. Here's why:
We're sorry, but it appears your attempt to unlock the bootloader on this device has failed. This could be caused by several factors including simple errors in the entry of the unlock token, problems with your device, or a lack of manufacturer support for the unlocking process. Please see the specific error code listed below, and try again if necessary.
Error Code: 173.
Error Reason: Check Rule Fail with exception.
After attempting at least 5 times (I had read HTCdev has given a similar error as a false answer) the other error was that the token id was to long
I've searched for over 2 hours after a 12 hour day & a 3 hour drive this evening. Anyone with advice I would welcome it.
Do I attempt to S-OFF the phone again?
Keeping trying the HTCdev site (its incredibly slow with IE 9 & Chrome)?
Thanks again.
My bootloader sayes *unlocked* and S-ON wel it cares only aboved the S-*** i think.

Do you need to be unlocked if you use jbear hboot?
I mean don't you just need a eng hboot or jbear hboot,to flash recovery?
Sent from my HTC Ruby using xda app-developers app
You don't need to unlock your bootloader. You need either JB HBOOT or ENG HBOOT. Flash either HBOOT and then flash the recovery.
So wouldn't it be less of a headache to just flash jbear hboot then try to re-unlock bootloader if it just errors repeatedly.

Just need another HBOOT. He has s-off. That's the point. You don't need to unlock the bootloader since s-off is an unlocked bootloader.

You said he may need to reunlock the boot loader. I'm saying he doesn't need to, unless I misunderstood what you wrote.

Wrong thread. You can use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2124142 to downgrade your Hboot and to get soff with Revolutionary. With Revolutionary Hboot you dont have to unlock your device.
