UPDATE: I left it charging in my computer for an hour, came back, and it turned on. Weird, but I'm not complaining
Hi again, everyone. New issue. Yay.
My phone's USB port broke, so I had to get a replacement (another Evo 4G LTE). Upon getting the new phone I inserted my microSD card and connected it to my computer to charge (it had 2% battery) and to transfer some files. A minute later the phone shutdown, showing the Sprint shutdown animation and wouldn't turn back on. Assuming the battery had died I plugged it into its charger. The charging light didn't come on and the screen didn't turn on. I tried holding power and volume down to restart into the bootloader (didn't work). Removing the microSD card and holding the power button didn't work either. I plugged it into my computer. Same result, but I got a notification for installing drivers for device QHUSB_DLOAD. Turning the phone on and off wont get it out of QHUSB_DLOAD mode. Most of the fixes I've seen from unlimited.io and other companies are for fixing QHUSB_DLOAD errors while performing an S-OFF/RUU method. Keep in mind I just got this phone as a replacement and had not done ANYTHING to it. It is refurbished, not brand new, and I have no idea if any previous owner did anything to mess with its boot. If I try the fix provided by unlimited.io will it brick the phone? Or is there another way? As far as I know, the phone is unrooted and locked. It is running the stock HTC ROM (either 3.15 or 3.16, I don't know). All other information about the phone is to be assumed. I didn't boot into the bootloader to check its details. And I'd really hate to have to return it to Sprint for yet ANOTHER replacement so any ideas are strongly appreciated.

Thanks! I'll try it if it breaks again. For some reason the phone just turned back on. I left it charging in my computer for an hour and came back and the charging light was on. It turns on, yay.

I totally think I brick my Venue. Here's what happened, I pushed the - volume(down volume) and then the power. I got a nice little list of options. I then push the download SD option, out of curiosity, and then it started to do a factory reset.
Obviously I didn't want this, but It started to shutdown the phone. I thought hell I'll have to put everything back on the phone, but the phone never came back on.
You can see the power come on at the bottom when the buttons light up, but nothing not even the dell screen.
I can't even push the two volumes and power button to boot, or the down volume and power to boot. Any Ideas?
Ok since no one wants to reply to this thread I will.... After looking a little further on this site I found a thread that someone removed the apps that were installed on the SD card and then their phone booted just fine. I didn't have a chance to try this as Dell had my replacement phone delivered to me within two days.
Hi, I have the same problem here, I think my phone is bricked. The phone won't start and Dell logo loops when I boot the phone, nothing else happens.
So can someone tell me what I can do from here to get it boot again? I can't seem to get the update.pnk to the memory stick and try run it from there. What can I do ???
help
1st thread does it boot at all?

just reread yours David,
you hard bricked it, i did that to my vibrant 4g/sgs4g. i had to send it in to be reflashed with a jtag sodderless machine. i found one online for $30 that included return shipping!!!
Hello,
Have the same problem, and yes, I'm curious. So I have the same problem. And what I have achieved. So if I plug usb cable and power with volume down, I can load the system. And all working but battery indicator with question and no indication of charging. I try to calibrate battery with no result. May be some one know what can I do with battery?

It is likely that you plug/unplug your USB cable quite frequently -> the device thinks that there are problems with your power supply and to save the battery's life the device stopped charging.
I think you can remove the battery, then insert it again + attempt to recharge. Please try!
hi everyone, I have the same scenario with the first..and now it won't boot...the dell logo doesn't show up....please help....thanks
Hello,
I have a problem with my Evo 3D. Yesterday the battery goes down to 0 and the Evo was shutting down.
When I come home, I want to charge, but the Evo don't charge.
The notification LED goes on for one second and then off. I can't boot the Evo.
What I can do?
Sorry for my bad english.
---------- Post added at 08:45 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:12 AM ----------
Problem solved.
I connect the phone with my PC and use the command box to enter adb devices.
The phone was shown.
Then I type adb reboot and the phone booted with 0% battery to sense and then the phone begin to charge the battery
This same thing happened to me Thursday night. I have a second battery that was charged and that is the only way I could get the phone to turn back on. It would not charge no matter what before that. Very frustrating.

Think you are on Clockworkmod recovery 5.cc.20? Will not charge with the phone off...I have to be careful, not fixed yet. Glad to know about the adb fix...

Oh btw sorry to bring up an old thread, but i was searching for quite a bit and didn't want to start a new thread.
Hi
I have a Rooted S-on HTC EVO GSM, Flashed Rom : [ROM] Crypt0's RUU V.1.4 | FAST | STABLE | WWE [24 OCT]
Had the phone for just under a month and after a big night out my battery died. Put phone in charger and left over night. Woke up and phone wouldn't turn on. i have tried everything. also read all the other posts.
I have taken out the battery for 20min and put back in. i have removed SD card and done a battery drop too many times.
When i plug the phone to the charger the light comes on for 2-3 seconds and turns off again.
1)Was just wondering of solutions people have come up with that have worked!?!
2)Also if i send the Phone back for a warranty replacement will i get a replacement considering the phone is rooted and has a custom rom flashed?
3)does the CWR have anything to do with the phone not charging?
Am currently going to try to charge the battery manually by using the wires in one of my cords and attached them to the + & - point on the battery. this worked on my HD2 might just work for my Evo.
more than likely is a bad connection. try a new usb cable and i bet it will solve your problem
CWM 5.0.2.0 won't charge when the phone switchs off.
try plug in to pc and do adb reboot bootloader
My roommate's evo 3d died the same way today.

hey thanks for all your responses. have tired 3 different cables.
1. i bought from ebay
2. i have for my WD HD
3. my HTC cable that came with my phone and I still get the same thing. Wont boot.
I have found that when i have my charger plugged in my phone and do a battery drop and then put it back in the charging light flashes 5-6 times but that the only thing that's different. still doesn't boot.
Holding the camera button doesn't work.
To be honest i cant remember what version of CWM I have but i'm 99% sure it has charged before when asleep. i will check what version i downloaded when i get home.
just a little more information:
I had flashed a new rom the night i went out. Everything was working. making calls, sms and camera but when i flashed my rom i had a wifi error so i flashed a kernel that matches the rom. that's about it. phone battery died that now your up to date.
would still like to know if i could send this back to get a replacement? not too sure how it goes with the whole phone being rooted and a new cooked rom on it? i bought the phone on ebay and i live in Australia so if i was to send the phone back it would take ages. just want to make sure they will replace before i send it off.
however any other solutions would be much appreciated.
OK! So took the SD card and the battery OUT for 30min then put the battery back in with the SD card sill OUT and pressed the volume down button and power on button (i had done this before but didn't seem to work last time)...
Didn't boot up so got frustrated and kept hitting the power button with the volume button still held down. When i let go of the volume down button the phone finally booted up into recovery!! Problem Solved! its charging ATM but i dont understand what the SD card has to do with the phone not booting up? will keep it charged until I get home so I can back up my data and reformat my SD card!
If anyone know about what the the SD card has to do with the phone not booting please let me know pretty interested to find out why that is?
I would also like to know about warranty information considering phone is rooted and has a flashed stock rom. I'm sure people out there have a phone that are rooted and flashed but wont turn on! if the phone doesn't turn on can't HTC just replace the Phone as they have no other way to find out if the phone is rooted and flashed?
I know these are separate questions but if anyone knows the answers, would be much appreciated to find out.
Thanks to all who have responded! and remember if this solution has worked for you let people know!
same thing happened to me the other day I had CWM installed. Install Revolutionary & you should be good

hi, also I have the same problem! i've removed the battery and the SD-Card for a lot of time..I've reboot the phone without the SD but when i plug the phone to the charger the light comes on for 2-3 seconds and turns off again (and my EVO 3D GSM Wont Turn On!)..please help me!!
i've solved..battery was died..
I have read the similar threads, unfortunately they do not seem to help.
Relevant information:
ROM: Cyanogenmod 9 2nd June 2012 Nightly
Kernel: Siyah 3.2.8
What happened: I was playing Rage of Bahamut (a game, nothing too intensive) when my screen appeared to dim and get stuck on the current image. I could press the home button and the screen will turn off, pressing home button 4 times triggered the inverted colors mode but I could not get to the homescreen itself, so I turned off the phone. When I tried to turn it on again it won't turn on.
What I tried:
Swapping out with a full battery - Doesn't work
Booting with USB Jig - Doesn't work
Plugging in to PC to see if USB is recognized - Doesn't work
Trying Recovery and Download key combinations - Doesn't work
I'm utterly at a loss as my phone appeared to be working fine, and from what I read the SGS2 is unbrickable. However I have been reading on the Siyah thread that 3.2.8 has a lot of issues and I really hope that I'm not experiencing another hard brick like what happened with Siyah 3.2.1RC6 (IIRC).
Thanks for reading! Hope someone has a suggestion.
Note: Interestingly, when I plug in the charging cable after a while the back of the phone gets warm; However still nothing happens when I attempt to turn it on. No response, no vibration, no soft key lights no nothing.
Service center (JTAG repairer might well say unfixable). No signs of life, no download mode, no jig. Dead phone.

I was kinda resigned to that. Just hoping one of you guys might have an obscure method to bring the phone back to life.
Thanks for your kind reply!
U cant turn the phone on, your pc doesnt recognize it, you cant go into recovery or download mode, you cant use USB jig. Oh boy, you're in deep trouble. Maybe the charge of the phone might be finished? U sure the other battery you placed was fully charged? I have never seen someone whose phone doesn't turn on at all, and even the pc doesnt recognize!

Dude, i dont even think this is a problem related to the software. I think its probably the hardware. Maybe the battery case has some defect? You should go see an expert for this.

Indeed I suspect it's hardware also. The strange thing is, I took the battery out to charge it in an external charger, and left the phone battery-less while I slept. When I woke up, I put the battery in and tried to turn on the phone. No luck. Strange thing was that after a while the phone felt warm.
Samsung Galaxy SII SGH-i777
OMNI 4.4 Nightly
I've been having charging problems ever since installing this ROM. When I plugged it in before, it would show a battery with a question mark. The phone eventually died and it won't boot up. I am not really sure what else to put but just ask and I'll answer.
yeah, that's a weird bug with OMNI right now -The phone isn't really OFF when it's off. It shows the questionmark and gets very hot, and it won't boot while it's plugged in. I have submitted a jira report, which just got downgraded to minor. You have to unpplug the phone from any usb charger or port and hope that it has enough juice to boot. Then leave it charging while it's ON.
I'm not sure how to recover from a dead battery in this case, unless the battery-out download-mode thing works? give me fifteen minutes and I'll try it...

sorry @jmsato,
if your battery really is too low to boot the phone, then the only option I'm aware of is to ODIN it to stock and start over.
1)remove the battery
2)plug the phone into a pc usb port
3)hold vol+ & vol- & power until the warning appears
maybe someone else knows some trick way to charge a battery out of the phone.
