Hi! I just bought a Jawbone ERA and I'm trying to get it to work with my DNA. When I press the button on the bluetooth headset, Voice Dialer is launched on my phone. I would rather Google Search (Google Now) was launched. I tried installing Bluetooth Launch and selecting com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox.VoiceSearchActivity as the application to launch, but it's not working. I read a few posts that said to disable Voice Dialer, but I don't see it listed in Apps or in Titanium Backup, so I can't disable or freeze it. Another post said to convert Google Search from a system app to a user app, but I'm not given that option in Titanium Backup (I do have the Pro version too). Has anyone found a way to launch Goolge Search from a bluetooth headset on the DNA? Thanks!!
Well, I have it half-working now. I was able to use Bluetooth Launch to launch Google Search and allow me to speak a command, but it only works once. Then I have to reboot the phone to get it to work again.

How did you get Google voice working? When I install it, I go through the setup process, and when I get to the section about setting up voicemail (which obviously won't work) I get an error.
I believe the choices on the error are "cancel" (which let's you try again, to no avail obviously) or "skip". When I press skip, it just dumps me back to the same page of the setup I'm on (voicemail), but both the back and forward buttons are greyed out...
Now, the funny thing is that Google Voice is now running! If I get a text, it pops up in the notification bar. But if I want to go into Google Voice manually and write a text, I can't because I can't get past the setup process...very annoying.
I also use Google Voice on a real phone (HTC Magic on t-Mobile) using the same Google account....would that make a difference?
someone did a mod to the voice .apk, I don't remember which forum I got it from. I will put it on my dropbox and post the link here in a few. The modified .apk allows you to skip the phone settings part where you got stuck.
update:
I didn't think I would find it this quick on my computer. I uninstalled google voice then reinstalled using this one and it works like a champ

Thanks, that worked perfectly! I wasn't able to uninstall the old version (said it was a system app, not uninstallable), so I installed the new one right on top of the old one, no trouble.
You can also just upgrade to the current Google Voice in the market. The skip button works fine in it.

sweet, then I'll pull my super secret dropbox version off.
I'm using Liquid Smooth 2.1 Stable AOKP (kernel 3.0., based on some late March CM 10.1) for Sprint GS3 (d2spr.)
I backed up the rom right after updating Google Search today to try a new rom. I have now restored the backup.
The new Google Search doesn't listen to BT microphone when using voice dialing over BT. So I tried a number of things, but that AOKP just doesn't seem to listen to the mic with the new version of Google Search (and neither does new Google Now voice search.)
I then uninstalled the update to Google Search. The old Google Search does listen (and so does the old Google Now voice search), but it crashes upon actual dialing (it never did before.)
I tried the following -
clear cache and dalvik cache
clear data for Google Search
clear data for Google Framework Services\
fix permissions
and all permutations of above measures.
Google Search keeps crashing - "Unfortunately, Google Search has stopped."
What else can I do?
Thanks.
CM roms must be made by one person - that archaic, one person must not have a Bluetooth phone dialer device.
Because CM has never had working BT phone dialing.
Hi xda! (been awhile since I last was here...)
I seem to have a problem with my Ultra (C6833), Android version 4.4.4 (official), not rooted, just plain stock Nordic rom via OTA. But using Google Now Launcher.
I can't seem to make "ok google" work with voice only. The settings -> input -> voice search -> "ok Google" detection -> From any screen -page doesn't register my voice *at all*, nothing happens on that screen. Also on any launcher screen or Google Now, saying "ok google" doesn't have any effects what so ever. When I manually click on the mic icon on any of these pages, Google now works perfectly and most of the time I don't have any trouble it understanding me (not native English speaker).
I tried installing OpenMic+ and tried that, but almost the same happens with that. It works when the actual OpenMic+ program is open, but NOT when it is in the background.
The same settings DO work on my Note 8.0 just fine, and the mic works on the Xperia when making calls (or after clicking the mic icon, voice search works fine). So what gives?
if you still need help with this first make sure your play services google (search or now whichever u decide to call it)play store an gmail are up-to-date last two may not be necessary not i an others have had issues when not once thats done clear cache an data in apps section under settings for Google an play services
Oh, thanks and yeah, haven't gotten it to work. I forgot to clear the caches, silly me. I did check that everything is up to date. I'll try clearing caches.
Ok everything is up to date and clearing the cache still doesn't do it this should be magic goto Google now go to settings go go to voice go to offline speech recognition set auto update to always over data or WiFi go and download UK English language for offline once it's done go back to the installed tab press and hold English UK the selected close Google now open it back go back in that same section and press and hold English us language to select it now try your okay Google

yes i know but the switch to uk an then switching back is what works
EDIT: SOLUTION FOUND! SEE BELOW
I'm having the exact same problem with my Xperia Z2.
Any further advice would be amazing. I'm running Android 4.4.4 and read that some apps can interfere with 'ok google', but I can't track down this problem.
Changing languages doesn't seem to help (I tried Australian in the past). Can someone confirm the above worked? I'm running on limited data plan here and would like to avoid recklessly using it up ;(
EDIT: After browsing for a few hours a few days ago looking for a solution, just after writing this post, THAT article showed up. And 'ok google' works now!
http://ausdroid.net/2014/05/08/fix-google-now-voice-commands/
It was LastPass accessibility service running in background! After turning it off, 'ok google' works now
For the record, to this day I haven't been able to make it work on my Xperia. It works perfectly on my Galaxy Note 8.0 and my HTC One M7, but for the life of me, I have not been able to get it to work on this Sony device. It keeps working the same as always - works perfectly with manual activation, but I cannot get the "Ok Google Detection" to do ANYTHING. (the page where it asks you to say "ok google" three times to "learn" your voice). It just does nothing, it does not register my voice at all on that page.
So glad found this post!
dark_skeleton, you are my HERO!
I couldn't find a solution for this problem for around 4 month!
I was already thinking that there is a hardware problem in my phone,
and just for the chance of succession checked Google again, and SO GLAD I DID!
I used 'OK Google' detection on a daily basis!
In my case, the problem was the application "Informer for SmartWatch".
It was using an accessibility service and blocked the voice recognition.
AnttiV, try going to the accessibility menu and check what services there are external (not pre-installed by Sony).
Seems like it really helps!
Thanks again dark_sekeleton!!
Another app, which is making problems with "Ok Google" is Smart Extension - Hangouts.

Yeah, it was that for me. I've been testing a week or so now without it and everything seems to be working fine. Sadly there's now no way to have hangouts on my SW2, which sucks. But the extension doesn't work with Lollipop anyway, so...
Time to upgrade to Android Wear / Apple Watch?
Hi Everyone
DISCLAIMER: I am a total noob when it comes to custom Roms/Root/etc..
I recently decided to try and go “Google free” on my Moto g3 osprey phone. I setup TWRP recovery and flashed crDroidAndroid-7.1.2-20171027-osprey-v3.8.2 to my phone but no Gapps. So far I have almost everything working but I need your help/suggestions about a couple of things.
1- I think I need a keyboard that has its own voice support to get voice to text to work. Everyone I have tried so far seems to depend on Google services. I know voice will work since I have installed Hound and the voice search works fine with it.
2- App notifications for non-system apps all seem to depend on something Google related. I only have a few apps that I need notification from. I was wondering if the ?tasker? app or something like that would work for app notifications, any suggestions?
3- The only other problems I have had are that when I attach a picture to SMS it will not send. Could this be related to no Google services? Also I installed the factory Moto camera app but cannot change the storage setting to save to the SD card. I know there is a fix for the camera but I cannot remember what it is.
Thanks in advance
Erik
Hey guys
I'm using Lineage 16.0 on a Note 3 HLTE. I would like to install Google Assistant and have it so that I can access it from any app with voice match.
Doing a clean install of Lineage with pico GAPPS, I go to install the Assistant from the play store and it tells me I need the Google App, so I install that. A bit of fumbling around, I'm able to get the Assistant working as the default. I can tell which app is which because the Assistant voice box appears at the bottom, and the Google App (search) appears at the top. I find the Assistant to be the nicer app to use. However with this method, voice match does not work. I've tried everything.
Doing a clean install of Lineage with micro GAPPS, it will install the Google App and voice match works. I went to the play store to install the Assistant and it just doesn't seem to work. Clicking the Assistant icon just loads up the Google App, like it's just a link/placeholder now.
The tldr
I can install pico GAPPS and Assistant/Google App from the play store. Everything works but voice match is greyed out/missing/doesn't work
I can install micro GAPPS (includes Google App) and Assistant from the play store. Voice match now works, but Assistant just seems to link to/load the Google App instead.
Any ideas?
After a bit of fumbing around, disabling apps and so on, it seems I got it working. I think what did it was setting it as the default assist app. It didn't occurr to me to do this at first because it was already responding to my voice, but it seems setting the default will change it from google search to assistant. Who knew? Leaving this here in case anyone else has the same issue. I've seen plenty of people who couldn't get voice match working. It seems the thing to do is install the Google App as a system app/use a GAPPS that includes it, then install Assistant from the play store and set it as the default
