Ok. But i realized something few days ago, we can create special system images based on stock ota or whatever, we can dd to system partitions. Cant we? Any devs? Like sts flasher did.

Locked bootloader refuses to boot custom kernel -> bricked device if you will do it. Modified system will pass, so technically you could create custom rom but with stock kernel. Even better with bootloader s, you do not need to overwrite system... But what would be the point?

Kernel and recovery are in another partition already. Writing an another system partition doesn't affect kernel. We can make roms based on stock kernel. And I don't know what would the point.

Yes they are, I never said writing system would not be possible, but writing new kernel is not due to locked bootloader. Yeah we could make new ROM using stock kernel. I actually once went as far as syncing CM10.1 sources to my computer and was planning to try to compile it and make it work with XTS stock kernel. But really, lacking ability to use custom kernel is a major drawback...
If somebody is able to make kexec to work with stock kernel it just could be possible to hot-load new kernel also and then anything could be possible. That would require quite a lot of kernel and hardware level experience, I doubt there is many people capable of doing that owning XTS or Tablet S...
Also, since Sony has not realased kernel sources, it is also possible that some of the devices would not work even if new kernel could be loaded. If there are some made by Sony devices or something like that. Perhaps IR, I do not know. Of course Sony is committing crime and violating license agreements since they are not releasing kernel sources, but we should already know that Sony is immoral criminal company.

Doubtful. Sony has been publishing the Sony Tablet S OS source code and SDK since its initial release.

i came across a very interesting article on Sony Ericsson Product Blog... SE seems to be working on ICS and outlines what all goes on to get stuff to work...
here is the link: http://developer.sonyericsson.com/w...from-source-code-release-to-software-upgrade/
i have posted it here (in development section) as i think it will be useful for users to make them aware on what all goes on in development for new OS version release...
also do keep in mind that even the device manufacturer (SE) has to do so much work; so u can only imagine the amount of work/efforts the devs (here at XDA and other android forums/portals), who are working on sources, are pouring into making this work for the community...
please do read it... its very interesting...

DooMLoRD

So does this mean as soon as the source code is released from sony we could easily flash this to rooted R800x plays even with a locked bootloader

It's impossible to flash a custom rom with a locked bootloader. S1 boot will not allow the flashing of unsigned images

That's partly incorrect... U can flash custom roms on locked bootloader (flashing via recovery)... How do u think the users of Xperia 2009-2010 devices have survived locked bootloaders
But u can't use FLASHTOOL to flash them as FTF/.SIN...

I Remember with the droid X and 2 the locked bootloaders didn't stop development on it i believe koush made a boot strap program to get flashing to work :/, also that was a very interesting read.
It's not an obstacle either for the Xperia bootloaders, given that the same people here brought custom ROMs to the bootloader-locked older Xperia models. But again, they decided not to try to bypass the locked bootloader, seeing as there is an officially sponsored way to unlock it.
Damn :-( I just can't seem to get the fastboot commands working on windows XP damn it's age!

With locked bootloader using root you should be able to use a shell script to boot into a custom recovery. But as we have no other ways to flash kernels, roms are mosty limited to stock.

the whole meaning of this blogpost is "why we will deliver ICS in 4months from now" or "why it will take ages to release ICS on the Xperia 2011 line" they could also release ICS clean without any Sony Stuff and provide a "skinned" Version later,i would prefer ICS as it is on the Galaxy Nexus personally
don`t really know what they are trying with this post other than an early excuse why it will be long time till we see ICS on the xperia 2011 line..

working on a sense base but theres alot of issues lol
also working on a asop base but i have talked to a few who claim the kernel will never let it boot so im still optimistic about it working but full functional no tell at this point

See my other post here. I think that maybe since I was able to flash the tz.mbn that we might be able to exploit the TrustZone similar to how djrbliss did with moto's bootloaders? Of course flashing the dev firmware failed predictably, it did however get much further than MDK;s firmware does. Anyone have any ideas? If not, this might also be able to help kexec. Stock recoveries will be allowed through the 4.4.2 bootloader check. Custom recoveries are not allowed because they pass through the aboot and if they are not 100% stock you are dropped into fastboot. Sorry man, this idea won't work.

You do not know what my idea is so no reason to shot it down already. If you think you know better than go try something on your own. It's easy to sit there and say something without trying to do anything about it.

I definitely agree! Trying something beats giving up. Please keep up your efforts and share your findings.

What about root? I really don't care about custom recovery but isn't there no way to root?

He's already made a flashable KK with root access for D802 & D800.
I was also able to get into that recovery while messing with something. It was one time though. In read in Gibhub of Loki that LG has patched for Loki exploit but he used the previous aboot but that was just for an OTA. https://github.com/djrbliss/loki/issues/44
This a great News Im looking for your custom recavary
Thanks for Hard work:good:

Well lot of us do
I am not an Android Dev but how much work would it be to just create a g2 framework package that would overlay on a source aosp rom? Lg ui isn't some mystical New rom is just an overlay. Very involved but I see other people exporting the Sony ui to other roms. It might be easier than trying to find an exploit that might not exist
