Hi all, I've been playing Order & Chaos a bit and love the game but am disappointed that I have to play over a Wifi connection. I've tried the trick of turning on wifi but not connecting it and it doesn't work for me. I'm curious if anyone else with a Vibrant has been able to play over 3G. Also I'm wondering if anyone has thought about developing an app similar to the 3G unrestrictor that the Iphone has that allows them to play over 3G. I'm on MiUi ReVaMpEd 3.1

I play this as well and always been wondering the same thing

There are other devices out there that are able to trick the game into thinking that the phone is connected to wifi by turning wifi on and just letting it scan but not let it connect. I have tried this trick on a couple different ROMs and I'm starting to think that it's not the ROM but the phone itself. I just flashed CM7.1 so I will give that a try later today and report back.
An app to fake wifi would be really useful,

Ya, that would be awesome.
I tried with CM7.1 but still a no go. My buddy has an HTC Inspire 4G running CM7 and he can play straight from the network without having to even turn on his wifi. I'm thinking that it either has something to do with 4G connection or the Vibrant in specific. Maybe if there was a way to fool apps into thinking it was connecting at 4G or thinking that it was a different phone, the Inspire for instance.
There are a lot of games that are requiring wifi download only these days and a way to trick them, in addition to being able to play really cool games like Order & Chaos, would be really great.
Yeah its the 4G, you can also play gameloft games online using 4g, it seems like nobody cares about the few who don't have wifi.

Check your APN.
I had the same problem except I am using CM7. I was about to give up, then I checked my APN.
I noticed my phone had 2 APNs:
1. Simple <--this one was checked.
2. T-Mobile US
I decided to change the APN to T-Mobile, and the game worked over 3g. Finally!!
Good luck!

Trying to help a buddy on his thunderbolt apply this zip file leak to fix the hotspot drop problem
It downloaded as 2.11.605.19.zip
It's supposed to be the fix for the hotspot
But I don't use htc at the moment
I tried to rename it as update.zip and apply as update in recovery but no luck
What's the process I'd anyOne knows about thIs new leak fix
I'm having the same problem with my thunderbolt I put the eternity rom beats edition on and i even downloaded a wifi tether app. it connects but doesn't send or receive packets
I'm just now getting around to looking at tethering my TBolt. Just wondering, does this app/update require Verizon tethering subscription?
If you download and use the wireless tether app it has to be setup properly to work. Under device profile select thunderbolt. Scroll down and select router fix.

The router fix may be the step I was missing. I'll give it a try right now. THANKS!

No love. I don't want to hijack the thread, so I'll hunt through the forum topics for a how-to. Thanks again!

Posting just in case someone else searching for a solution runs across this thread:
Seems like solutions for getting wifi tethering to work is all over the place. For me, wifi tethering for root seemed to start, and other devices could see it, but the devices could never connect to the Internet. In my case, switching to open garden solved the issue.
I haven't had any issues with any form of tethering with this phone. I was even able to share my internet from the phone, to a net book, and then to my ps3 via a wifi router. I know a lot of others have been having problems with it though and Im wonder if its possibly a hardware difference between the phones.

How would it be a hardware difference when the phones are the same
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA
Sometimes they use parts manufactured by different people. If someone can make a part cheaper then chances are they'll use it. Especially, when a device has been out for a while or out of production. This happened when I had an Eris. They changed the touchscreen manufacturer and some people started to find in some roms the touchscreen wouldnt work.

I searched a bit bit can't seem to find an answer to this, which surprises me. Had anyone gotten the tmobile WiFi calling app to work on the At&t Note? I know there are options, but none seem to work as well as the one that comes straight from tmobile.

I gave up on that thing about six weeks ago. Now I use Viber. It works in any country I've been in, on wifi or cellular data.
T-Mobile WiFi calling is tied up in the kernel, to my knowledge you would need a custom kernel for it to work, or a hack that adds the necessary data to the kernel to make it work. I have a T-Mobile HD2 and when I was using it , tons of kernel modding went into making WiFi calling because of course the hd2 wasn't originally android and it needed a modded kernel to make it work, and even after it working it wasn't very stable .
RoloRacer Paranoid on JellyBean
I've been searching for weeks as well and came up with nothing. I've read that it's part of the kernel, part of the TouchWiz framework, etc. Seems there's way too many factors to get the native wifi calling for t-mobile. Apparently, back in the day t-mobile was using GAN based wifi calling, and it was an app. People got it to work on the t-mobile sensation 4g, but that's an HTC phone so it won't work for us. I was reading up on a thread in the galaxy s2 forums of some devs trying to get the native wifi calling on that device (FYI, tmo now uses an IMS based wifi calling structure) and there's a lot of work involved, including modifying some of the framework files, the phone apk and the settings apk.
The best solution at this point is to just flash the Tmo Note stock ROM in the Tmo Note Dev forum. User Tomin.fhl was kind enough to make it flashable and wifi calling works great for me on that. Just wish I was able to use AOKP or PA with wifi calling though
Yeah, I figured out how to get it done, just flash the TMobile stock ROM which is fine with me since I'm on TMobile and actually like the stock... Then you need a new Sim.
Sent from my SGH-T879 using Tapatalk 2
Dont you need the AWS chip for that stuff, isnt this a hardware limitation??????
Whatever you need is already built into our phones. I have been using the tmobile WiFi calling feature in my at&t note for a while now. No problems.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
What's the name of the app, can I get that from play store or can you please share .apk file
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
If you follow the instructions to flash any stock based T-Mobile ROM onto your i717, it will be there. You need a new SIM though.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
GrooVeIP will let you do voip (3g and wifi)
just make sure to set your gvoice account to use your email address as the primary number.
voila! incoming and outgoing voip calls (works for every carrier i've come across)
Wondering if anyone has seen anything on this for the note? I recently moved and tmobile service sucks but I get a good wifi signal in my apartment! Just wondering if there is any other solutions besides gvoice...I get free minutes when I use wifi calling also with tmobile so it would be awesome if it could be incorporated.
Yeah, while there are 3rd party solutions like GrooveIP, the best solution is to follow the link I posted and flash the T Mobile note img file and install the tmobile stock ROM which includes the true tmobile WiFi calling feature.

If you follow the link, toward the bottom of the first post there are instructions on running T-mobile ROM's on the i717. Follow those and you won't have any problems. I also have the at&t version, I believe though, you will have to be on the t-mobile network.

Yes, right now I am using my note on tmobile, so I guess it has been flashed to or with some other firmware....So would I still need a new sim I do not see why I would.....So you are saying just flashing a tmobile compatible rom. Do you have any suggestions? Maybe one with less bloatware and better battery life.

Might want to make a guide on how to do this. I feel like the T-Mobile Wi-Fi calling is in silent but in high demand by unlocked users.
I'm curious...if the T-Mobile stock ROMs work, why wouldn't a custom ROM for Tmobile also work? Has anyone tried?
While I was on a call the other day I decided to browse the internet during the call....FAIL
I wondered if there was something wrong with my phone so I tried it on another call after I restarted my phone and still not internet during call. I called T Mobile to ask them about this and they told me that the HTC One does not support that feature.
That just sound crazy to me because I was able to do it with my 2 year old myTouch 4g.
Has anybody else tried or experienced the same?
Does anybody know any information or a fix to this?
I searched around the threads for a while to see if anybody noticed this or made a thread about it but I didn't see anything. If there is other information regarding this please direct me.
Hmmm I can't say about web browsing but I can confirm you can send and receive text while in the phone. I'll try browsing next time I'm on a call.

Is your device a tmobile HTC One? Were you on 4g when you tried to browse while on call? Do you even get 4g service? Browsing while in call requires for you to be in 4g.

Is your device a tmobile device? I seen some thing on the web where people with dev edition or people using att device with tmobile couldn't browse while in call. Is the reason I ask. If you have a dev edition on tmo network, that might be the problem.

Update:
I did a complete shutdown, not restart. Then I powered my phone back on after about 5 mins. I later tried to browse the internet while on the phone and...IT WORKED!!!
I dont know why but Im happy. So if anyone else is having this issue try that.
Sidebar:
I spoke to a Tmobile rep about the issue and he told me that the HTC One does not support on call interenet browsing.....
Cleary he was clueless...smh lol
It has worked fine for me while connected to bluetooth Ford Sync I was able to post comments on Facebook while on the phone in Honolulu on 4G, pretty sure anything other than 4G and wifi it won't work

I believe that what you experienced is just a general, minor Android bug. I've owned numerous devices, and everything from the mytouch 4G, to the Nexus 4, has given me a rare issue where sometimes when I'm making a call, I'll try to load the web, and see that I have no data. In order to regain my data, I'll have to end the call, wait a few moments for the data to fully restore itself, and then I can make the call again and use the web.

I think it is normal for data connection to not work properly right after your phone/IMEI/SIM is first activated with T-Mobile's system..... always takes a reboot.

Glad you got it to work. That rep you talked to was indeed clueless: browsing data while on a call isn't a "feature"; it's how the freaking network works. All GSM/UMTS/HSPA+ networks allow you to do this (in the US, this is tmo/att). CDMA networks work differently and don't allow EVDO use (3G) while on call. I think most verizon phones with LTE do allow you to use LTE and voice at the same time, though it might depend on the exact baseband setup. CDMA, blech.
So I'm running a paid version of Wifi Tether Router which is confirmed working on this device. Using Wpa2, Method 3, hostap patch on/off etc. And combinations of other things and at one point had an access point created but nothing would connect due to I.P. issue. Should my wireless signal be on or off under quick settings? I cannot find the flashable odex rom due to the xda download server being down.
Any help would be much appreciated as I have a house full of gadgets, and brand new 4G at our new house and it's amazingly fast.

Hmm, I always just use some kind of custom rom and then the native tether service within the settings works 100% of the time with no issues. I have no experience with any tethering apps so I just thought I'd throw in what I know works with great speeds and without fail.
I guess I can always flash back and update. I was just waiting for stock KitKat before I began looking for a rom simply for the S pen support. I use it all the time. This beast is my Daily driver and run my business from it and love the S pen.
So yea still no luck with my wifi tether router app. Guess I'm off to find a rom. Any suggestions? I'm a compatibility seeker. Heimdall FTW.
Any help with the app is still appreciated though in case I ever go back.
Thanks

I have Easy Tether (paid) from a few years ago side-loaded on the N3. It's there "just in case" but I haven't needed it since flashing the Hot Spot mod. It works flawlessly and has been 100% consistent. Give it a try.
On a side note, I flashed the Hot Spot Mod while I was "Rooted Stock," had to do a factory reset (full wipe) followed by re-rooting and found that the Hot Spot mod was still intact and working flawlessly. No need to re-flash. Unfortunately, I did not check to see if the Hot Spot remained unlocked prior to re-rooting the device.
