Hi,
My phone keeps shutting down when I browse the web (facebook expecially) ,sometimes happens in Candy Crash.. it just freeze and after 5 seconds it shut off. And when i turn the phone on , w/e level of charge i had before (like 80%) it says low battery like 15% BUT if I let the phone off for a while and then turn it on , it restore like before...
When i'm playing with the phone when it is in charge, this doesn't happen at all ...
It's the battery that is gone wild , i don't know, maybe when in stress it become faulty ...
I have Stock android (4.1) , but the phone is unlocked (it's not my phone though , is from my sis , bought from a friend)
Sounds like a bad battery mate. Have you wiped cache and dalv cache if rooted if not just wipe cache in stock recovery and reboot.

Ok , i'll try with that.
Yeah def sounds like battery. The minute it tries something remotely intensive it clearly doesn't like it.. Try replacing battery, maybe a friend has a spare? Or even as a test try a friends battery with those few apps running and compare?

Hey gf was playing game (defender) and the battery died so after pulling the battery I got the cell to startup but it would show the bootloader or anything so after just letting it charge at the chargeing screen retryed starting up and left it for a couple hours still nothing and then I left it for a bit and decided to try it again and I got a backlight so I let it go for a couple more mins then normal it it went straight to the lockscreen with no bootloader I think something happened to the delvik chache since that usely makes it take longer to boot and nothing was changed so I don't think anyother chache or factory default was deleted the cell has pesopefect ROM any advice on what might of happened and how to prevent it from happening again

Try reflashing the rom again wiping cache and dalvik cache
Will give that a try I also noticed the other day when I was useing her cell that it no longer locks and the home button dousent work except to turn the screen on I suspect this will be fixed once I flash the Rom but for future problem is their a quick fix for this?
Hello.
Because of numerous rom and Kernel flashes my battery behaves erratically.
For example, i am out of battery, my phone died, but when i put it for charging, the battery status indicates 100%.
I have tried clearing the battery stats but no luck there.
How can i solve this problem.
Thanks in advance.
Charge full battery and calibrate it with battery calibration from google play
I can't. I am charging the phone with it off, but it indicates a full charge state. If i try to power it on, after about 1-2 minutes, the phone turns itself off, like when not having enough battery.
I have tried the battery calibration tool, but the problem still persists.

I think you should read this tread regarding MAX17040 chip that is installed in your battery and steps to reset it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312273. If this doesn't work then I'm afraid that your battery is gone and that needs to be replaced.
I have done the indicated steps and i had no luck.
I have observed that after charging to full ( 100% ) the phone runs ok until about 93-94%. After this, the phone shuts itself down, and if i try to power it on, the display hangs at the Galaxy S2 screen ( the one with the triangle )
What am i suposed to do?
This happened to me before, and i got over it without much hassle, but now i can;t get past it.

or u can look at the beautiful triangle
joke
maybe this would help
reboot in cwm,
-factory/data reset
-cache reset
-in advanced menu dalvik cache reset and battery stat reset
-in mount and storage menu format system
-flash custom rom,
-when done ( do not restart system ) do a factory/data reset and battery stat reset again
i know, i can see irony in my advice but can't think of anything else
Try charging it for a while, just to make sure it is actually 100%, then pull the battery and wait 2-3 mins. Plug it back in should be good to go, works every time for me.

1) Battery calibration apps/methods are rubbish/placebo & do absolutely nothing. Save your time/money.
2) Sounds like the battery is cactus to me. Time for a new one.
I have managed to get it working by leaving the battery out of the phone, overnight.
My problem is kind of strange.. when I turn off the phone, it thinks it's being charged (no cable plugged in).. and i'm unable to boot the OS as per usual. The only way for me to do it is to load CWM and choose the reboot option, which does work but only with 1 battery (a spare hyperion one). The stock battery and my other hyperion aftermarket battery does not work. Instead, it takes me to the stock recovery system.
I tried remedying this problem by doing wiping battery stats, but it doesn't help any. I also decided to make the jump from unnamed ROM (gingerbread) to an ICS rom (AOKP)
On top of that, the phone no longer makes a beeping sound when i plug the cable in, but it does charge the battery.
Another thing: the boot screen (when turning phone on) shows "samsung i9100" when i'm pretty sure my phone is an i777.. i might have done something to this phone when i got it about 10 months ago, but i don't remember. All i remember was rooting the phone and flashing it to unnamed ROM.
It seems like this might be a hardware issue, but i'm no expert.

I would try wiping cache and dalvik cache in cwm. Also, fix permissions in cwm. If that does nothing, I would try a different kernel. However, this may be an internal issue of the phone.

Well you fixed your charging issue by itself It says that because the flash counter has been tripped. Just use any triangle away app from the play store.

i just flashed to AOKP ics rom yesterday from unnamed ROM, so i doubt it's a a kernel issue. just tried wiping cache, dalvik cache, and fixed permissions. still the same issue. im afraid of shutting the phone off or changing the batteries now, which is a pain since the new ICS rom burns battery power like crazy.

the flash counter isn't a big issue for me; thought i had circumvented it when i flashed the ROM 10 months ago, but i guess not. the phone still thinks it's being charged when it's turned off though. that's my main problem.

Try to go to stock and see if the problem persists. If it does obviously a hardware issue
ultimately, if i really want to confirm, i'd probably have to do that. but i've already installed 2 different ROMs and the issue is still persistent, so i'm just going to assume it's a hardware issue. it also seems now that the phone no longer turns off. if i choose to turn it off, it'll just reboot the phone. this phone will have to last me another 9-10 months, i just hope it doesn't die out on me.
but yeah, i tried ICS for about a day and didn't like it. bad battery life, seems slower, and less user intuitive UI.. so i'm going back to gingerbread.

you know samsung has factory warranty for that kind of stuff.
i got my phone refurbished, about 9 or so months ago.. it only came with 3 months for the warranty. i guess getting a returned phone ended up biting me in the ass.
now the phone is overheating when im charging it.. looks like it's going to crap out on me soon.
Download the stock 2.3.4 firmware from the download repository. Do a full wipe including system data cache and dalvik. Boot into download mode hook up Odin and flash the stock firmware. If its a hardware issue your problems will persist in which case u could sell it on eBay for parts. If its a software issue that will fix it.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
that's what i'll probably have to do tomorrow. if i remember correct, rooting the phone on 2.3.4 wasn't that straight forward, so i'd have to read up on how to do that again. but im just gonna leave it as is right now.
the phone acts really weird. when i took out the battery and replaced it with another one, it would keep doing the same thing. so then i plugged the phone into the USB charger and tried turning it on - that worked.
if it's a hardware thing, it's got to be something to do with the battery sensor. the phone is simple to remove, so i wonder if i can replace it myself.
i believe my phone is now semi-FUBAR.. it still runs, but seems like the battery sensor issue is a hardware one. i just tried doing a stock flash/odin thingy, and it still has the same issues... also, the phone is now permanently showing as MTP connected. i am also seeing decreased battery life.. only lasts about 1/2 a day now.
i guess i learned my lesson.. don't switch out the batteries too often, or your phone will die.

is this a big deal? i'm also having samsung i9100? im using ucle5 AJ's rom/kernel.
i'm also having issues with charging the phone. it seems to charge forever, i have to unplug and plug the charger again to properly charge it.
When it says i9100 it means you tripped the flash counter. If you want to reset it use a triangle away app.

i see thanks.
i'll try to run this app and see what will happen.
do wiping battery stat needs to be in full charged? i used to do that on my tab so i guess same principle applies.

No the same principle does not apply. Battery state wiping has no effect on this phone.

Hi everybody
Since one week or so, my phone suddenly crashes for no reason. I'm just typing some message in WhatsApp for example and it crashes. No other apps are running, besides stuff like facebook and avast mobile security. When I try to power it on again, the battery is at about 1% or so (dropped from like 90%!!!) which means, that the phone turns off again very soon.
I can repeat this very often by now, so this phone is at the moment quite useless.
I found out that this doesn't happen, when the phone is charging or connected to PC. When it turns off and I connect it to the PC or charge it, it has about 70% battery (before more than 80%). So there is also a battery drain, but not that high...
I'm running Slim Bean 3.1 with no changes at the UV/OC-settings and other Kernel-settings and stuff. No other Kernel installed than what Slim Bean does.
So my question is: What can I do? Is my battery broken or is it something else?
I bought it like 1 year ago, so I can still send it back.. Just in case the phone is broken.
Oh, i forgot to tell that I can still go to Recovery or Download-Mode. If that might help...
Weird stuff you got here...
I think there's an issue with the battery chip. The sgs2 has a chip that calibrates the battery without the need of an app (although it takes several times to completely calibrate your phone) and if it's broken the phone will think the battery is dead when there's in fact a lot of juice left or overestimate it.
The best way and what i'd do if you still have your warranty is to reflash the stock rom (the one that was on your phone when you first bought it), use an usb jig to reset the flashing counter and then send it to samsung.
The crashing stuff... Try fixing permissions from the recovery. Wipe caches and data for the apps that crash.
As for the huge drain in battery (although from 90% to 1% is most likely an exaggeration, but i get the point ), it's normal.. Usually happens when you reboot at <= 40% battery, but can occur at higher percentages too... Its a hardware thing... No solution... Only thing is that if you use extweaks/stweaks there is an option to reset fuel gauge, which I believe does something

Lol... Its because of the faulty fuel gauge. I've gone 20% up once because of it

Sometimes it's bad when be 50% and then suddenly after reboot went to 15% or good like today form 10% to 54%

i have had this very same problem this is how i fixed it however bare in mind i am running stock 4.0.4.
first charge your phone to 100percent
backup, backup, backup a nand backup is always a good idea
go to recovery and clean you battery stats, clear cache, clear dalvik, fix partitions "do not delete the actual rom on the phone" also before doing any cleans if your running 4.0.4 do research because the stock kernel combined with cleans from recovery will BRICK YOUR PHONE
reboot the phone
turn the phone off and remove the sd card
turn on the phone, go to settings / storage, perform a format usb storage, next go to backup and reset and perform a factory reset.
let the phone reset.
this should fix your problem.
Hi there guys,
First time here.
My problem is similar and for the ones saying the we are exaggerating I can tell you we are not. I have prints but I dont know to add them here with the app.
So the problem, my S2 is using samsung rom for android 4.0.4 (the oficial one and the phone is not rooted). And the phone crashes when under stress and the battery goes from wherever the level is, from 40% to 90%, to 1%. Then if you let the phone off for like 20min it recovers to like half of what it had before crashing.
What I mean with under stress is normal things such as browsing the web.
One thing to notice is that if the phone is connected to the charger it doesnt crash ever. Does that mean that the battery is faulty or is that controller chip? Should I send it to warranty?
Thanks all and make me less of a noob =)

Today I left the house at 100% battery. Everything was normal until an hour later I pulled my phone out to check the time and it wasn't even on. I guessed I could have somehow held the power button down in my pocket so I just tried to turn it on, but nothing happened. I ran home and put in on the charger and once again nothing happened. The phone is absolutely dead for no apparent reason... Any ideas?
Try this, hold (Vol+ Vol- and Power Button) for 5-10 sek if this not working you can flash Stock Soft in Flashtool
I honestly don't know how that worked but thank you... Both for the quick answer and for the solution I had never heard of. You saved me a lot of hassle! It even booted at 87% battery what the f... Any ideas why this would have happened?

an advice, when you wipe cache partition don't reset or turn off the phone, its not hanging or stuck, just takes too much time, wiping cache takes 5 mins aprox. if you reset before the process finish, cache partition can get damaged

Thanks mate
It hapenned to me again today and was way worse than the first time. This time I think was caused by the google store , and google services updates. Link2sd auto linked the DEX file to sd (it insists to auto link a new application even when I deactivated the option from the settings). The phone was really very hot, and was hot also while charging without charging indicator on. Thank God it actually turned on. Thank you again for the solution @BOLEK_PL.
