Hi, I don't think you know, but Broadcom has not released open source drivers because of this reason, some legacy devices can't even have a fully stable CM7 let alone CM9. So I'm begging you, from the bottom of my heart, please sign this petition: https://www.change.org/petitions/br...u-kernel-etc-for-samsung-galaxy-ace-gt-s5830i
Here is a Youtube video that will (hopefully) change your views: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=AdSogkahpdo#t=15
Thank you, DamnTarget

Hello mccoffein
Why you not tray Psptube portage for win mobile
http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/f120/ultimate-psptube-t229526/
Welcome back mccoffein
Eager to see what you have been cooking. Still remember you download/stream video apps... And with WVD with such a huge hiatus and compatibility broken this would surely be a most welcome app (PSPTube has 1 good thing: the fact that each site info is stored in a text based file that anyone can update without the app source... a great concept for keeping apps alive even when the author has dropped them).
PS: Ever considered perfecting ffmpeg to be used in TCPMP? Still the best free player around (ffmpeg component is its heaviest one). The rmvb support would surely be welcome (the source of this component was never released).

Hy frmariam,
thanks a lot! Nice to see you ...
Currently i have compiled the latest ffmpeg libraries ... And they are working like a charm!
And now i try to build ffplay for WinCE. But currently it isnt working. Only the audio output is working yet.
So i have to "cook" around!!!!!!

I have to see! But yes ... Why not! Do you know how to compile ffmpeg for tcpmp???
Greatz
mccoffein
I don't quite believe a direct recompile would work (but I'm no coder)... From my signature you can find a link to bimbam69 thread and his sources (which also include the ffmpeg sources and can serve as an example).
ffplay isnt working yet ... Read my blog post why!
http://ffmpeg4pocketpc.blogspot.com/2010/04/ffplay-still-not-working.html
Hi, mccoffein
Which compiler do you use for building ffmpeg?
I was surprised, I was reading on Wikipedia about FFPlay, and saw a link to a "Windows Mobile" version, but never thought it could be so new.
But... "Blog not found"??
Not even Google Cache could help me... well, I hope you didn't get too angry while trying to compile it.
I'm not a C guru, but I'm always wanting to help, in case you might need ANY help.
CyanogenMod is a free, community built distribution of Android 2.3.7 (Gingerbread) which greatly extends the capabilities of your phone.
Code:
** These CyanogenMod builds are highly experimental and unsupported.
**
** Please refrain from submitting bug reports for any issues
** you may encounter while running one of these builds.
**
** Submitting bug reports on nightly builds is the leading
** cause of male impotence.
Warning : Not for new users, flash this build only if you know what you are doing !!!
What is CyanogenMod (in less terse form - by mad-murdock)?
since i am a bit idle right now, i try to answer this.
cyanogenmod is the only open source rom, that runs on 40+ different devices. we got around 45 devs (people who really write code and tweak things to make it work better - in contrast to cooks, who only use winzip to exchange this vs. that binary thingie) constantly making cyanogenmod better.
as background, you might wanna know, that google usually releases the sourcecode to their products (where honeycomb is the first exception, but thats another matter, ICS will be open source again). but when google releases their source code, you cannot compile it for ANY phone and it runs on it. thats the first part, we jump it - make it compatible with all the phones we support.
once it basicly runs, its time for what we call "cm extras" - we modify a lot on the gui and the system to make it run better. some stuff you as a user will never see involving tweaking libs and kernels, and some stuff you as a user will see a lot, like including theme manager, dsp manager, cm settings (cm settings are about as huge as the normal settings are). those settings range from simple "dont display clock in status bar" to complex profiles (as known from old nokia phones) or remapping of some keys (long press home, remapp search button behavior)
its way to much to list it all here, but i can assure you, cm is fast, usually stable on most devices and VERY VERY customizable - both in grafical ways as also in behavior way.

well this isnt stock rom, is it
Or how I can get it to work...?????If the camera worked like froyo these roms would eb absolutely great but everyone uses the camera!!
Well, that's just Sony's sudden way of saying "***** you"
But I guess it's because the libraries in 2.1 up to 2.3 has undergone significant changes ==> making it hard to port properly.
Hmm I guess it's well explained by: drivers.
Every Computer itself is hardware. Your mobile phone is also hardware and the ccamera is a specific hardware. that every other component of your mobile can use that specific hardware "camera" - for example that your camera recording app wants to use your camera to record video or take apicture - drivers are needed for the operating system.
The stack of communication levels looks very minimalistic like that:
app (camera.apk)
operating system (android in version 2.1. 2.2 or 2.3 or 1.6)
driver (inside operating system)
hardware (camera)
app says: take picture with camera (meaning open shutter, let the light into the light sensor) - operatingsystem knows what to do and tells driver (open specific shutter, let the light into the sensor xyz) and the driver opens the shutter and lets the light into it... maybe you get it...
The point now is: You have a specific camera that needs a specific driver in your phone. And Sony Ericsson has this perfect driver for that and does not give it out to us. That's why their operating system "stock ROM" works perfectly.
For Froyo the devs found a similar driver or maybe (I don't know really) could make the SE-driver compatible for Android 2.2. I guess was hard work to make Android 2.2 also for hardware keyboard and so on compatible for our mini pro!! And it was also another such hard work to make Android 2.3 compatible for our mini pro. But the Camera driver is still the Problem and thus the Camera can not be used as used in Gingerbread that is Android 2.3. And CM7 is a modified Android 2.3 for Mini, and slades and sonybread are based on cm7 and thus camera still does not work as we all would like it.
You can not use the drivers from froyo (cm6) or Eclair...
Okay?
As I guess the devs are still working hard on getting it worked but it's not that easy. That's also the point why the most people use the CM6 edition (Froyo ones)
Okiddoki?
thanks for your replies ...... Hope they LL fix it soon.....I definitely don't wanna go back to stock
Be grateful that it possible to even take pictures! With the HTC Click/Tattoo we had no cam on 2.1 up for over a year!
Download the applixation picsin from market ... Works great and takes.images in better resolution than vga.... Note* i only found it to.work with sonybread 4

Use 6 but change your sdk to 10 and use a theme from 7
I know that the big X10 has different hardware with this phone, I was just wondering is it possible to port something from x10 when the 2.3 update roll out?
Sent from my U20i using XDA Premium App
sorry for offtopic, but can you make a port driver for sound and dsp manager with the CM7 at CM6?
picsin did not work on sonybread 4 for me

I really doubt, that anyone is working on this... in fact I think everybody is waiting for a working driver to be released (from other devices or even from sony).
If somebody was working on getting it done we would know about this...

Paul-xxx (dev of sonybread) said that he is working on the camera drivers right now, and afaik none of the devs inform us always about his projects, before he is ready for a release...
Oh, I didn't even know that paul-xxx was capable of modding drivers (no offense).
And from my experience most developers start developement threads when they start big projects (like modding drivers) as they can work together with other devs that way and avoid doing some work twice (teamwork instead of duplicated work). But in my mind there's a slight difference between ("real") devs and ("just") cooks...
Known whether it will take on this project? I'm anxious to get back to having good photos

Hey,
does someone know, why one of the Promoted 4.0 features, "video snapshots"
is not available in AOSP builds like Cyanogenmod? it means you can take a high-res photo while recording video at the same time.
It is an android 4.0 feature and not specific to the HTC One X as some people suggested earlier (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64JulxSOjzc&feature=relmfu#t=46m13s)
It does not need a special camera sensor since it is available in the value pack for the galaxy S i9000 (http://www.sammobile.com/2012/04/10/guide-samsung-galaxy-s-s-value-pack/)
does someone know how this comes?
The Samsung camera hardware drivers are not open source and are therefore not part of AOSP, the CM devs have modded the AOSP camera apk to run on the SGS2 camera, but not all features are implemented, until a couple of weeks ago you couldn't even save video taken with the SGS2 camera, if it's possible to implement, I'm sure they will at some point, be patient. If you want it faster than 12/24/2045 I suggest downloading the sources for the AOSP camera and see if you can add the features yourself.

yeah, i know that video recording wasn't working until just recently (i've been using CM9 since the first nightlies)
i wish i could help with this feature but i have barely any clue of coding so i would be of no use
Generally the CM team worries about things actually working and working properly before they get into added features, they've made a lot of progress but there are still a few issues that are probably on the list above camera snapshot, patience is always the key with these things.
I just found out that the HP's oen source project has been ported to Android phone. This project is of course still in devs phase, and as you can see from the video it is slow with lot of bugs but yet it is understandable.Ny idea is to see if this can also be ported to SXS.Of course not because it's better than our android or anything, but because it's an open source and i am curious.Who knows maybe this OS can be much cooler than it is now.And would like to see this with dual boot. How about you?You think this is possible? http://www.phonearena.com/news/Open-webOS-ported-to-Galaxy-Nexus_id35023
Hit the thanks button if I helped!
