[Q] adding files to ruu zips - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

is there any way to add/change a file in an official ruu rom?
Like using the old sappimg from the sapphire (htc magic)
if i understand correctly the phone looks at the android-info.txt for version main and on that info it flashes the phone. Correct me if i'm wrong, now we can open those zip files but we can't add or change files in it. so i'm wondering if anyone ever succeeded in doing it. i know those files are signed. but there must be a way to mod those files and put them back on the phones. i tried a lot of zip,rar etc utils to modify but all say mode not implemented. any suggestions.
off topic does anyone have sappdiag files? i looked at an xtc clip video and saw they were used to unlock the phones, this is for a project i'm working on :angel:

I don't think there is any tool available at the moment , but I think it won't be long till one is made,you might also check my post in Windows Mobile\ WP7_OEM_MO_Documentation
It's worth going through.

if they can crack computer systems etc there must be someone who knows how to do this. like i said if u can extract them like normal zips it should not be that hard to add something or change something inside them, i wonder if u could change text in a file inside a zip without opening the zip....
if you can change the misc.img to delude the main version check, it would be easier to change the main version in the android-info.txt,
from:
MainVer: 2.16.181.1
to:
mainver: 3.54.527.6

Also wonder how xtc clip got there files like sappdiag etc

I got the diag.nbh for allot of htc and other phones
