Should work fine, but for more security I would revert to .475 then update back. As there is sometime some change on the ta partition on the .ftf.

Relocking bootloader for Sony XPERIA SP

Just flash this .ftf file via Flashtool. Your bootloader will be relocked and you'll be able to use PC Companion or Sony Update Service to update your phone.
Notes:
If you use custom kernel than before relocking bootloader flash the stock one. Or if you forgot to do it just flash stock kernel after relocking.
Your root access will persist after relocking if you had it before. But some apps will work improperly (RootExplorer v3.0 causes reboot when trying to mount /system as rw) and some apps work good (SolidExplorer, SD Maid...)

Did it by myself. Checked it twice before publishing here.
I always try and check everything what I'm going to publish.
PS There is no TA backup. There is preset.ta which contains data for re-lock.

Well as far as I have read, TA partition differs device to device. And flashing someone else's TA partition can hardbrick your phone

I totally agree. But there is no any TA partition backup in this .ftf file. There are only loader.sin (which is unique to each phone and in this .ftf it was taken from stock fw .257 - the same for all customizations and all fw versions of C5302/03/06) and preset.ta (which contains data for re-lock and that is the same for all phones Sony).
I remind that I checked it twiсe: relocked bootloader and than unlocked it via fastboot and via flashtool.
By the way, it is more convenient to relock bootloader via Flashtool using "BLU" button.
Hi, someone try to do a backup TA with flashtool?

I don't quite understand this part. I thought rooting and unlocking bootloader are two mutually exclusive and that you can execute one independently of each other. My Xperia SP is rooted using DoomLord toolkit but I don;t think my bootloader is unlocked.

[Q] Rooting, Unlocked Bootloader, Custom Recovery

So I I finally rooted, backed up my TA partition, unlocked the bootloader, and flashed CWM/TWRP. Took me forever to do on windows 8, but finally figured it out.
My question is, what effect does flashing OTA updates and/or ftf's have? Will I just lose root? Or will I lose custom recovery as well? Just want to make sure since i'm sure the B.2.257 ftf will be posted shortly and I will want to flash it!
Similarly, if I were to change the CDA to get B.2.257 OTA, would I just lose root? or would I lose recovery as well?
I don't know about ota but flashing a ftf makes you recovery and root go bye bye.

Thanks for the reply. Bootloader remains unlocked correct? So just re-root and reflash?

Yes. Only way to relock is by restoring your probably backed up TA partition.

Need some guidance to downgrade without root

Hello all hope somebody will give me proper guidance and links of threads.
Just got my Xperia ultra today it is United Kingdom (GB) model number C6833 with Build number 14.2.A.0.290
I am very new to Sony Xperia phones, have bit experience in rooting HTC, Archos, Samsung but Xperia is new to me.
I did some research and found it is only possible to root 290 firmware with Unlocked bootloader. Here is the problem start I don't want to loose my DRM keys by unlocking bootloader, wanted to have backup of TA partition before I unlock my bootloader if I needed in case. I can't backup without Root so I am stuck and confused what to do? Is it possible to downgrade to other firmware to root my Xperia ultra then I can backup my DRM keys. Also found some posts by users saying if you downgrade from 290 you loose IMEI so is there any solution?
your help and guidance will be highly appreciated.

Follow the top sticky in this section.
Imei isn't a problem if you go back to 290 ftf, and even if you don't there are solutions.

You can revert back and will probably loose imei. But you will still be able to root and backup your TA that is intact. And from there use any ROM you want.

Z Ultra GPE Root update and Ta Back up

Now from what I understand there is no root method for this device just as yet now my question is how different is the Sony branded Z Ultra from the GPE version besides android version. I all's know that root is needed to back up the TA partition so is there a work around for your our device.
Sent from my C6806_GPe using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The GPe version doesn't have the same type of TA partition as the Xperia model AFAIK, but you still have to unlock the boot loader of the GPe to root it.

That I understand but how is the back up of the ta partition made is root is required to relock the boot loader

You can't backup TA. You root, you lose.
Or you can downgrade (the Xperia model if that's the one you have) to 532, root it, backup TA, update to 290 and lose root, unlock the bootloader and root it again. The difference this time is that you'll have the TA backup. It's a helluva way of doing it, but it's your only option right now.

Nope, you can't do that with the GPe. Root it and lose it. It's as simple as that (for now).
Thanks for the info but I don't think the recovery is stable for the GPE its still testing and I'm not looking for a brick right now can afford another device right now so I'll just wait

Yes you will have lost the DRM keys, but from 4.4 on we dont need them for xreality (bravia) to work.

Confirmed for Netflix. Warranty is the other consideration. I'd say it's worth doing the downgrade and backing up TA.

i think i didnt lose DRM and Xreality(Bravia) , because i downgrade to 4.3 and xreality works fine...
also before downgrade i successfully backed up TA on 4.4.2 rooted frimware.
What about OTA, will you get a notification when there is an update ?

As stated previously, on 4.4.2 unlocking bootloader doesn't affect xreality, but your ta will now be null so you have lost your drm keys.

You will probably get a notification but updates via OTA or pcc will fail with unlocked bootloader, you'll need to flash ftf's.

Updates don't need ta, only locked bootloader. Your ta will be null as you didn't back it up before unlocking.
