I have my Amaze rooted and S-off and I was wondering if there is an advantage of using this hboot? Also, when I tried to flash it, it told me that the CID was not the same (I am on Videotron and the Hboot is for T-Mobile), can I just SuperCID and it will work? Can it cause some problems with the network if I do (internet and phone)?
Also, if I flash a new radio (like the one in the ViperAmaze thread), will it work with any carrier after? Or will I lose the ability to connect to the Videotron network (since it is AWS and all that...)?
Thanks!

Hi there,
Well I recommend that you SuperCID first. If your Cid becomes 111111 then all amaze ROMS will work for you! It basically bypasses the carrier lock. With SuperCID a Videotron user can flash T-Mobile ROMS, and any Amaze ROMS from any carrier.
And yes I recommend the JBear hboot. It definitely has benefits over the stock hboot.
Lastly, you will definitely not lose the ability to connect to Videotron data. That is a total myth! The only thing that can break that is if your IMEI gets corrupted and you have to go back to bone stock, and so everything again. But don't worry about that it's another story!
SuperCID then do the JBear hboot, and press my thanks if that helped.

Desire has Downgrade HBOOT, so you can return to stock completely. How is possible with complete access to the system to have pure HBOOT, aka not relocked? Can be the same be done with E3D as well?

If by "pure HBOOT, aka not relocked" you're meaning after "relocking" the bootloader having it NOT display "relocked", this is only possible using the Revolutionary method.
The official HTC unlock method does not allow this, at least on the CDMA version of the EVO 3D. On the GSM version, the limitation of the official unlock method can be bypassed, probably very similar to the Desire method by downgrading the Hboot, then using the revolutionary method.
If that isn't clear enough, or the question is different, please add more detail.
Hope that helps clarify!
Yes, I unlocked bootloader with HTC tool, then downgraded HBOOT and S-OFFed. After using both RUU and manual update, the "relock" status was back. Why?

The CDMA device doesn't have this option and that is generally the crowd I hear from the most. You're the first GSM user to confirm that after downgrading and being s-off with revolutionary, once bootloader is upgraded and re-locked, it will display as "relocked".
Off the top of my head, there aren't too many divergent paths to take, but more details to your process would help.
While running Revolutionary and S-OFF, directly upgrade either via RUU or flashing an updated bootloader. At this point, does the updated bootloader show Relocked?
If not, is the internal memory still unlocked? If so, is the internal memory locked?
Depending on this outcome, we can formulate the next steps. At this point, we would want to know:
1) what is displayed on the bootloader, locked, unlocked or relocked?
2) what is the *real* status of the internal memory, write protected or write unprotected?
The question really hangs on how the latest stock bootloader determines the lock, unlocked and relocked status which it displays. This can be considered fairly low level and there is not a lot of publicly posted information or research on this specific topic.
Any feedback or testing you want to provide would be help and informative! The CDMA version of the EVO 3D can't perform these tests, only the GSM version is able to downgrade, as far as we've seen.
Hope that helps!
Version of HBOOT is irrelevant, when I replace it with ship HBOOT it says *unlocked*, yet still S-OFF. Only ENG HBOOT will remove it, but after replacing it will bring it back.
But you gave me an idea. I'm going to try to replace HBOOT, then unlock it, S-OFF again and then to re-flash stock ROM.
EDIT: I still have access to NAND memory.
Yeah, that didn't help.
I have a theory that it must be something outside HBOOT.

I'm on hboot 1.12. I've seen some talk about updating my hboot//firmware to the most recent version. it seems like a bit of a process. Can someone tell me the benefit of doing this? Also, if someone could explain how i can do this? thank you so much!
Im on Mean Rom 4.1
thank you
Most important question: are you S-OFF?

Never update your hboot. Updating firmware is a good idea. Definitely get s-off if you haven't already.
Its not a "process" at all.... you just flash it either from recovery or from H-boot depending on if you are S-ON or S-OFF
And you want to update radio and firmware, no tthe Hboot
I think what you may be referring to is relocking and running the RUU to update your firmware. Sure that can be a bit involved, but if you're S-OFF updating firmware is really easy and you don't have to mess with any of that stuff. Like the others have said, since you're 1.12 you should go get S-OFF and then flash the firmware (minus the hboot).
Definitely get s-off, s-on unlocked is a guilded cage
Even if he is S-ON it doesnt matter. Hboot 1.12 can update through recovery
Yea but soff is better
I thought with 1.12 s-on you could only update the radio but the other firmware bits were off limits?

The security is different on 1.12, its practically non existent (compared to hboots 1.15 and 1.19) when you unlock but to have full write access to nand you need soff
I have just got an evo 3d, previosuly owned one, and stupid me forgot to make a back up of my stock rom before i rooted and flashed an ICS rom.
Im in Australia on OPTUS, the CID is OPTUS001 and i cannot chnage this.
Im S-on, with Hboot 1.53.007 and htcdev unlocked
I have tried lots of things but cant for the life of me figure this one out.
I want to S-off and downgrade the hboot. But to do this i need s-off and need to change the cid, which i cant right now
Where can i get the OPTUS RUU for ICS? I have tried the asia RUU but it fails with incorrect CID
I have 4ext recovery and also have fastboot access
Or what can i do?
many thanks in advance

Okay. You are S on and have a custom recovery. Why can't you s off then? Do the wire trick. Unlimited.io has everything you need to know. After s off downgrade hoot and change cid if you need to. Hboot downgrade -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1906172

Not that I know of. Any one else hear different?
Soff with wire trick works ONLY on stock rom from ruu. Not even a flashed one that says stock... His only chance is to find a ruu compatible with his cid (sorry bro, cant help you there, i searched a bit but no good results).
Other case, you can enable Smartflash in 4ext tools and use custom ics roms, but only sense roms. On that bootloader you cannot flash anything else other than sense based.
Just as a question, did you by chance try the european ruu? I have a feeling it might work...

Unlocked bootloader and rooted
S-ON
Flashed latest OTA by sports
Faux v29 kernel

As this phone is S-ON and unlocked bootloader and rooted.. can't get OTA update of 30MB radio.
Can't even flash the radio mentioned with S-ON

Why can't I get S-OFF?? well I am not comfortable with wire trick and also has MAc.. don't have windows machine. So this is my limiattion.
Question for experts:
How can I flash radio 1.15 on HTC Amaze with S-ON, unlocked bootloader and rooted phone?
Is there a work around?
or easy method to S-OFF, not wire trick?
Did lots of research and couldn't find one.

well thats the only way to S OFF by doing wire trick if you want use a windows or linux live cd and run it it's better to do it now while your on stock (flash stock kernel to be on safe side)

From the jumponitbear website, the S-OFF only works in linux, and while it can be run from a CD, I believe it the CD won't work on a Mac.
I'm at a loss I'm unlocked rooted soff supercid
Trying to flash tmo 4.3 ruu on my att one
I am getting a error-159 during utility update .
As far as I understand you can flash another carriers Ruu as long as soff and supercid and you don't even have to relock the bootloader as long as your soff?
Do we have to write our carriers cid before flashing a ruu?
Basically I'm able to do this but evidently missing a step.
I don't want to loose soff or update my hboot which is currently on 1.44
