Is your laptop running Windows 8.1 ?
If yes, fastboot won't work on it.

nope. now its just stuck on the htc screen with red text and wont even boot into bootloader/recovery
Do you have the HTC USB drivers installed ? Check your laptop device manager - Android USB devices - do you have My HTC there ?
You keep saying "device not found" means there is no driver installed.
If there is no driver - download HTC Sync Manager - http://www.htc.com/www/software/htc-sync-manager/
Also to flash fulmix boot.img, just use the fulmix.ROM_boot.img-Installer.zip; you don't need other thing.

Take out the battery and redo the process of flashing boot.img then flash ROM - that after you have all USB drivers installed
ok i tried installing the fulmix boot img installer directly through TWRP on hboot 1.24 but it keeps failing
hboot 1.24 ???
You CAN'T flash fulmix boot.img on hboot 1.24.
It's for 1.25 only
So save the hassle, search any ICS ROM and its boot.img. Flash that.
Or restore your stock backup and upgrade to JB
Is there any stock backup available if i dont have one?

If you can't mount the USB, try to flash a no toutch recovery trough the multitool from lexmaster. You have to search for at the forum.
If nothing works relock the boatloader en then flash the original recovery. After that you can install the original RUU from you computer to get it to stock. After that, unlock the bootloader again and flash a no toutch recovery. Then you can install a new ROM.

Ok, I have tried something like this;
- Try to relock your bootloader true the XL multitool from lexmazter. If it doesn't works try true CMD (command prompt) on your pc.
- Find your RUU at: http://www.filefactory.com/f/0eafb9c43276c308/
look for the right continent and version.
(I've installed after trying many errors: RUU_RUNNYMEDE_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_2.31.401.2_Radio_20.70.30.0832U_3831.16.00.16_M_release_258303_signed)
- Run the .exe and then it's installing the original rom or so.
Here's a thread thats all about getting your device to stock ROM if nothing works
here is also explained how to work with the command prompt
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1706070
I hope that you can fix it with this information. I'm not so good at this rooting stuff eighter. You know because i bricked my own device. It tooked me a fews day before i sucseeded. If you want to know something else, just ask or search the forum.

At first I thought it was okay, I just need to flash the ROM which was downloading. I realised that my phone's TWRP Mount USB can't be detected by my computer!! So, I had no way. I googled HTC ONE X+ RUU. And was fruitless. Many are third party ROMs, and I'm not sure where to download the correct one. Even which to choose I'm not sure.
drivers installed?
There's a link on the TWRP thread you should have read before installing.
As Lloir says, do you have the HTC driver package installed? What recovery you have, should have no impact on how fastboot detects your device, just install drivers and flash a working kernel through fastboot.

Hey i got the same problem and to start here i'am a noob in this. This is my first Android device and my first time trying to install a ROM. I used Hasoons all-in-one kit, and unlocking to bootloader went fine, so did recovery and Perm Root. I tried to install Android Revolution HD 5.1, so first I tried to install the other firmware that was needed for it, that is 1.16.401.6. I did something wrong there i guess and its stuck at the HTC start up logo. I tried to make sense of the posts above but i couldn't. My PC doesnt recognize the phone anymore but if I use a command from the all in one kit it does still respond and i can use the power and volume down button to go into bootloader. I tried some things there but really dont know what I'am doing. If someone can help me to get a ROM installed or go back to factory settings from the phone atleast make it work again would be much appreciated. I think i installed all the drivers because it worked before and it still does respond to flashboot in all-in-one kit. Sorry for being so noob. and thanks for the help.

Could someone please post an idiot proofed set of instructions to do this.
I have the relevent RUU.exe file, but simply running it doesn't work.
I'm assuming I need to replace the boot.img that I flashed with a stock one, but I don't know how to get it out of the .exe file.
My phone is bootloader unlocked, and rooted, and I can get into bootloader or clockwork recovery, but I can't get any new ROM onto the device via USB.
I just want to start again from stock...

Do you have the International or ATT One X+? If you didnt do a nandroid backup first then you need to re lock the bootloader and then run the RUU for your phone. The phone should be in fastboot mode with the bootloader locked and attached to computer via USB. Then you should be able to run the RUU which will restore your phone to stock settings. If you tell me which carrier you have i'll point you to the correct RUU.

Hey,
today I thought I could flash a new rom on my desire x again. It wasn't a special thing to me because I did this very often and everything went perfectly. So I did a full wipe, flashed the flumix rom, rebooted to fastboot and flashed the flumix-boot.img. Everything worked and I wanted to boot the system. You can see the typical HTC logo with the red text under it. But after that the screen becomes black. Only black and nothing happens. I have tried to wipe everything again, flashed other roms, other boot.imgs, other recoverys but my phone just stopps booting and shows the black screen. I can boot to bootloader and to recovery, flashing boot.imgs or roms seem to work.. Can anybody help me?

Ok that's probably the reason fulmix doesn't work either.
When you are in fastboot and plugged into the computer go to the boot.img installer folder where the ''fastboot.exe'' is located
hold shift and right click anywhere in the folder and choose the ''open cmd'' option.
then type in ''fastboot devices'' and look if your device is showing up in the cmd.
If it is not, reisntall htc drivers or htc sync manager and try again

I thought this was the right section.
I found a post with a collection of stock RUU
but I get error signature (132) and says it finds the correct version and try again.
My device does not pass the white HTC screen, bootloader is relocked and the current version is 2.18.707.5 and I'm trying to install is 1.17.401.1 and gives me error.
I can not flash the boot.img or backup because the phone does not recognize it when I connect the pc.

Till now we can't find a suitable RUU for updated HBOOT like yours
All you can do is to unlock your bootloader again and flash a custom ROM and a kernel ( BOOT.IMG )

Bro, i cant unlock again the bootloader cause the phone is not recognized by the pc.
I tried to do it from the All In One Toolkit, Vemom Flasher, and ADB and I could not because the phone is not recognized. And if I have the drivers installed, and htc sync manager.
How I can do?
Remove the original HTC drivers and try this universal adb driver
http://adbdriver.com/
My HOX+ wasn´t recognized at all with the HTC drivers by adb.

I tried to install the "adb installer" and uninstalled the original drivers from HTC, and the installation process tells me "device not found"
I was reading that there may be "bricked" the phone. I try to do anything and for any reason the pc recognize my phone.
I think either your phone is nuked or your usb port is (usb is likely, since I've got that problem once too, sent my com to repair and it's working now)
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app

USB debugging was enable. But when trying to flash, I do not know if it was disabled.
And I can not check because I can not turn on the phone.

There is no Stock RUU for HTC One X + (Version International) to download? I mean the exe file. I was trying to flash this:
RUU_ENRC2B_U_JB_45_HTC_Europe_1.17.401.1_Radio_3.1204.168.32_release_299688_signed
But in the process throws me an error signature, Error 132.
"Find the correct signature and try again"

Hey,
If you have HBOOT 1.70 like I did the only way to restore ROM is via a TWRP back-up.
Take a look at this thread, this is how I got it running again.
