Yes it did, not sure if it's worth it though, music distorted but ring and notification tones mostly didn't. It's trial and error

I find it fine in general. Only with high background noise is the speaker volume insufficient.
Headphone volume is fine, I can't turn it all the way up I'd go deaf

I flashed a Sony ROM, and then tried the mod yesterday. Didn't lose any modem signals..
FYI: I wont be using this mod. I find volume sufficient. Some tones are soft, so just find another thats louder..

I feel the same way than you. I do personally turn it to 100% but I feel it is loud enough for all speakers. Even in call speaker is amazingly clear and can hear in any conditions, louder is only if you wish people around hear what other tell you.

I was using CM10.3 on my Ultra (stock android, similar to that found on a Nexus device). I then flashed a Sony branded firmware (RadioActive ROM), and installed this mod.
I've been working on modding the sound config files to increase the volume since last Sunday, only got my ZU today, I can't look at the posted mod as I'm on mobile at work at the moment but is it the one with just the 1 config file inside, if so it shouldn't work anyway as there's 6 sound config files on the ZU, and they're named differently and are indeed very different to the Z1's, I'll be rooting mine and finishing off editing the files hopefully tomorrow, so as soon as I've done that and tested I'll upload a flashable zip.
Update :
My apologies I thought it was another mod I'd seen elsewhere, I'll have a look at this tomorrow after I've rooted etc and see if I can see what's causing some people modem problems, also turn it down a bit to eliminate distortion if needed.

Sorry, now I'm awake just realized what you said, it will just be a flashable zip file so if you have cwm then yes you'll be able to flash it, well think that should be right, just getting my head around this locked\unlocked recovery thing, been on samsung's for the past 3 phones, things are a little bit simpler with them, and only just discovered that my bootloader is not unlockable.

do you notice the difference in speaker quality/ volume versus galaxy s 1?
and how is the earbuds?
Yes, i also want to know how is the quality and the power with the headphones (in-ear). Do you compare it to an ipod or to a Cowon Iaudio for example (would be perfect...). Just tell me if its good quality and powerful enough.
I got round to trying out the headphone volume for the first time last night and have to say compared to the SGS I find the audio volume to be quite poor.
With the volume up to the max it is only just acceptable.
On the SGS if I turned that to max it would have hurt my ears.
I have tried it on various Media players all with the same effect.
Has anyone else noticed anything similar?

Yes... I have a sneaky feeling I may have a problem with my SGS2.
I have asked a few colleagues at work and they all agree the volume from both the Headphones AND Speaker is quite poor.
I have now purchased Volume + (Sound Boost) and tried increasing the levels but with no success.

Agreed. I'm comparing it to my iRiver H340 which is unfair but the GSII sounds pretty s**t through my Shures, low volume and overall bad dynamics. This wouldn't bother me in the slightest in regards to MP3 use as I have never used a mobile phone as a music player, there isn't a phone in the world that can compete to a proper music player, especially with Rockbox installed like my iRiver. However, the bad volume and dynamics also effect video playback, both in terms of Youtube and local video files. I did a direct comparison between my GSII and my brother's Desire HD with the same Youtube music video and my Shure E2C earphones last night and to say the Samsung was found wanting is an understatement. That does bother me.
Anyone aware of a way to increasing the volume at the very least?

Really...... Interesting as it says at the top of the topic ~ "You must be Rooted…Make a Nand Backup before flashing…I’m not responsible for problems. It should work on any 2.2 ROMs…YMMV"

Is there a flashable Zip? I still have the zip from my GB rom on my phone, if I flash it, will it work?
I know Ressurection ported it over, but I am on DarkyRom, and don't really want to change ROMs etc...
Please delete, flashed and it's working.
Where's that zip? I'd like to try it.
Attached it to this post.
Apologies, i've forgotten who to credit! I had it on my SD card, had it for about 2-3 weeks and forgot which thread it was on.
Use CWM to flash - warning do it at your own risk, it worked for me, but I don't know the first thing about developing flashed stuff, so I probably won't be able to help you if you get stuck.
Backup first as this flash is known to fail to boot on some phones .

Hey folks, I've done a bit of searching, but I've yet to find anyone with this specific issue with my VZW S4.
All of a sudden I do not have ANY sounds what so ever....I've tried working with settings (sounds, adapt sounds, etc.), rebooting, clearing cache with CWM, pulling the battery. I do have sound from headphones.
Yesterday evening I went to a doctors appointment and muted/put phone on vibrate (don't remember which) and noticed when I got home and returned to normal sound mode in the pulldown that I no longer had any sounds....
I have a Rooted stock MDK...I have not cleared or wiped to factory settings and I've never installed a custom ROM....only rooted and have CWM Recovery (did this about two weeks ago).
Any clue/ideas as to what this could be? Will wiping with CWM clear it up? If I wipe to factory settings, will lose root?
Same issue
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 4
Well, I performed a factory rest with CWM Recovery.....no luck. Still no sounds at all....no notification, speaker, alarm, ringer, etc.
Has anyone else experienced this besides the above poster??
Maybe try restoring stock MDK through Odin. Then re-root. Make sure you don't take the OTA though.

I've tried a number of things with no luck.....it seems to be a hardware issue. Verizon is overnighting a new (by new, I mean slightly used, right?) S4. Hoping it will be a MDK and not ME7, but I don't have my hopes up.....
Now on to deleting root apps, Triangle Away and Unroot to stock.....

No Sound At all
Sorry to revive but I wanted some advice
I bought my S4 with VRUAMDK firmware used hence I seriously doubt I can ask Verizon to replace it.
when I got it it tested fine I made calls
after rooting it just stopped making any sounds or phone calls, (I'm pretty certain I followed the rooting instructions correctly)
tried unrooting, going back to stock and rerooting and trying several ROMS I still have no sound whatsoever no headphones nothing, it does eventually detect the headphone if plugged in, even in the diagnostic menu sound doesnt work
I can browse using mobile data I can attempt a call and the other phone rings but the dialer doesnt work after placing the call the phone hangs or restarts sometimes.
everything else works I can send and receive text messages, emails, cameras work. etc
if this is a hardware issue what needs to be replaced? any idea whats the best way to get this fixed?
If I need to start a new thread let me know

you need to do a full repair. return to stock. Perhaps even flash the .510 FTF...
- I use setCPU, and give max at 2000 (only 150mhz below max) and works fine. Max temp is now 78 degrees... before it was high 80's...
I actually set it to 300mhz just for the screen off...
Tried to repair it through PC Companion, Sony Bridge, and finally used SUS.
The process goes on smoothly, until i unplug the phone and it keeps boot looping.
By the way, the loop shows the Sony logo, sometimes it briefly fashes the same logo on the top or bottom of the screen, sometimes it flashes just a dotted line, sometimes the logo fades away.
I'm contacting the repair centre once it's open.
I thought Sony devices were almost unbrickable, well I guess i found a fu#%ing way to brick it.
An what if I had unlocked the bootloader? In this state you can't even relock it I guess.
I'm so pissed off right now.

Dear Togari Owners,
On my Xperia Z(yuga), from completely bricked phone, I can flash kernel with recovery via fastboot. When you have recovery, you can flash rom like CM, via adb sideload. In this situation you can copy any important files to your PC easily. - Recover bricked phone and needed files from internal storage. After that you can flash back stock rom via flashtool.
My question: Can you do the same steps on your Xperia Z Ultra?

Dear Honami Owners,
On my Xperia Z(yuga), from completely bricked phone, I can flash kernel with recovery via fastboot. When you have recovery, you can flash rom like CM, via adb sideload. I don't understand how you address your post to "Honami lovers" and in the end ask a question about the Z Ultra (Togari)...
Anyway, I'm guess you could flash via flashtool and restore the device, but I didn't have the time and I had another hardware related problem anyway.
Oh and by the way, all the aforementioned steps you described are only possible with an unlocked bootloader, which I didn't have at the time.

You can't understand me, because I'm stupid and I made one big mistake. :banghead:
Also, forget my 2000years old research, cause your bootloader is locked

SetCPU can be installed and work just fine, only thing is to know how to use it. This is unfair to troll about this app that work well, it give bad image for the dev and the true problem do not come from the app but from the user.
And with any app modifying CPU freq and voltage there is one almighty rule "while testing never enable set on boot" or you need to have an unlocked bootloader and adb experience for can safely remove the app and its settings without having to wipe and flash and in some case need to flash the boot.img.

Second time. First on. 290 factory reset fixes it. Now on. 136 not rooted. Miss titanium back up. Pain to restore my apps.

Thanks for that report, now we know that it wasn't the rooting method that killed Sound Enhancement.
Is it dead or only working with Walkman?
That is what I have noticed after moving to 136.
It only works with Walkman and does not apply to flac files any more so I ended up with all MP3s and using only Walkman as my player for now.
I stream music. Sliders work but there's no effect on sounds. I check apps running and it's not there. Anyone tried factory reset?

It works for me on Walkman but not on Spotify.
Not gonna bother with a reset until we get the 4.4 update.

This, lol. I'm STILL on 4.2.2, firmware 532.
I refuse to update/upgrade until 4.4 Kitkat has been officially released, rooting is EASY and doesn't involve downgrading and causing headaches in doing so...
Current rooting methods take too long to do, it's a pain in the ass!
I did try 4.3 but found no noticeable differences and downgraded to 4.2 again.

I haven't tried factory reset, because I plan to root now after this & I don't want to re set up the phone, but I stream also. Tune in, Sirius xm, Google music, what I've been doing is dialing my voicemail during music playback to get the eq active / working. Although It doesn't stick a few records loud are better than nothing...

What is the current method of rooting .136 if your bootloaders locked, if any? I was reading about flashing .136 FW infused with root then installing SU from memory card, with locked bootloader, but I thought you needed your BL unlocked before one could flash anything on the ZU???

There is a way to root 136. However, it involves downgrading to firmware 532, rooting, flashing and so fourth. It's easier rooting using an unlocked bootloader, however, you still need to downgrade in order to root.

OT but i'll continue as it may need a little clarification...
If you root 532 and then unlock the bootloader you should never have to downgrade and root again, just wait a week or so for the next upgrade path to become stable in keeping root, but it will normally just be flash FTF, flash recovery, flash SuperSU and maybe a patched kernel (I think well will need another patched kernel for the 4.4 stock update - just a feeling)
If you root 532 and cant unlock the BL, you will have to wait for the devs to build a stock based ROM with SuperSU cooked in, and follow their instructions closely, but again you shouldn't ever have to downgrade and root again if you wait for the Stock ROMs to appear. It tock all of 3? days for the 136 update to have rooted ROMs on the forum
I had the same problem as the OP after the update. Only owned the phone a matter of hours then connected it to my PC to down load files and the Phablet updated then the problems started?
Not uncommon in the technology industry but non the less rather annoying.:crying:

I did a factory reset on my phone just to see if it would start working with Spotify but nope.
Luckily I pretty much only use Walkman so it doesn't really bother me.

I actually like Walkman.. just wish it had some FOLDER option so it would be easier for me to find my music unless I am missing that. All I see is Album which is not as good for me.
Did factory reset fixed the issue?

So far only I have seen one person claiming that it works fine for him....I am waiting for the 6802 version of NUT rom to see if that gets me fully working again but not expecting much.
It's a bug, usually sound enhancement work with everything, this update only makes it wrk with Walkman, restarting phone sometimes makes it work again with everything but once u stop playing music it goes bck to being buggy as he'll.it's annoying.

It works for me with SNES emulators and such. Seems only Spotify it's not working with. Not sure it ever did because I didn't try before I started updating the Phone.
Spotify might even be the issue here.

I tried equalizer apps I used before in my sgs2. It doesn't work too. I stream slackers works fine in my sgs2. Seems to be the update. 136 is really the issue that in only works in walkman. Did Sony knew you this bug?

UPDATE!
I got sound enhancement working with 136 for FLAC and any other app. As I recalled I had other issues before when running non 6802 ROMS on my phone, I was still holding on to some hope that a 6802 based 136 ROM would be the one that will work...and IT DID!
I just flashed the 136 from the NUT thread and it is all working great.
Well how for stock non rooted:'(
