[Q] Weird unwanted apps as Facebook notifications - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
from some time I get occasionally, mostly at phone reboot, weird notifications in status bar which have facebook or google play logo. Any move I do to get rid of it ends with downloading, but I don't know what. It usually has a cartoon astronaut logo and lots of chinese characters and downloading bar. Download ends at 40-60% and nothing happens. I cannot localize anything weird in memory and background processes, no new apps, spam, or services.
Of course I didn't download anything suspicious or Facebook or any stupid game. It came up by itself. I hade same apps I always had on previous android phones and nothing like that happened ever. I get my S2 from someone else but at first I flashed 2.3.6 GB, stock official one. Then I rooted it and get RootAppDelete to get rid of some stuff. I don't use Facebook so it was uninstalled quickly.
Anyone has the same thing?

[Q] Issues after Market update

Has anyone else had weird issues after getting the new market update? I'm running stock thunderbolt, and after getting the new market, the web browser and camera have been having issues where they seem to refresh constantly. In the browser, it looks like the notification bar keeps coming up, constantly taking focus away from what ever field i'm in. The camera is the same, except instead of the notification bar, it just keep refreshing, not allowing you to take a picture or use a menu.
When I uninstall the update for the market, the problem goes away, but, it comes back again soon after, as the market updates itself in the background. Any fixes for this or anyone else having the same issues?

Weird app installing itself?

I noticed that for a few weeks now I'm getting spam type notifications in my notification bar saying things like I've won a free ipad. Was just clearing them out, but now I notice that a shortcut to a "market" has showed up on my homescreen. Can't find anything I didn't install in titanium or my stock application manager. Anyone know what this is and how it gets through my security app. I'm using bit defender. I notice my phones a bit glitchy as well. Widgets aren't wanting to load up. I'd like to figure it out before I do a data wipe.
Usually happens after installing a cracked app. Although I have seen this after installing MP3 Music down loaders as well.
Search for "Airpush detector" in the market then uninstall whatever apps are detected then they shouldn't show up again
Check this out.

[Q] Virus/Phishing Malware repeatedly requesting Gmail login

Hello guys,
I have registered this account to ask this question, I will try my best to avoid any of the annoying pitfalls of being new.
HANDSET - Samsung GT-i9100
CARRIER - Vodafone UK
OS - Android 2.3.3 using GoLauncher Pro
This morning the notification bar showed 10 updates available, I updated them all, all of them being apps that I recognised. Following the updates I now get a recurring pop-up window asking for my Google account username and password. The window pops up in the middle of the screen with whatever I was looking at before dimmed in the background. It occurs on the lockscreen, homescreen and in any app I open. Pressing cancel just causes it to reappear, only pressing the home button makes it go away fully, however never for more than 30 seconds. I am able to stop it from appearing for a few minutes by clearing the RAM.
I tried entering false information into the form to see what happened - it now prompts me with the options to 'Reinput' or 'Cancle' (actual spelling) and appears just as frequently.
AVG has turned up nothing and Android Assistant doesn't show any strange processes.
I am completely stumped.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and in advance for any input you may be able to offer.
solved by unistalling and reinstalling GoLauncher. No idea what caused it. Cheers.

Damn. I uninstalled GoLauncher.
Usually it happens when you try to modify something on your account without stopping the sync before

It was an update to GoLauncher EX Notification - they have been having trouble making it work with the Gmail app for some time and thought they had it cracked, however people updating to the new version experienced this problem. Their poor spelling I suppose exacerbated the problem as it made it look like malware. Can't be critical though, must be an absolute nightmare to program something like this and write the UI in a second language.
Today's update reverts the changes and explains (ish) in the update log.

[Q] My phone seriously messed up itself

Yesterday my phone ran out of battery and it took me a while to get back to my charger. I came back late and I put my phone to recharge over night. I wake up and start my phone and it's like it's never been used before. It has done some sort of reset by itself. All these help popups comes up about how to use slides and motion etc etc. My gmail account is not registered to my phone anymore. I go through my applications and now I start to realize that something is seriously wrong.
Some of my apps are missing on my home screen and when I look for them they seem to be uninstalled, so I try to install these apps again and get the "unknown error code during application install -24" error. This is the case for 3 of my paid applications. Portfolio stocks, swift key and maps with me.
I have more problems though, 50 % of all my apps that are still installed will not even start, like all of my games for example, Every time I try to start one of these I get "Unfortunately, application has stopped" This is also the case for some other apps like skype and spotify. Most of my apps have completely dropped the app settings and information. All my whats app conversations are gone for example and my number isn't even registered anymore.
Some apps still have the icon on my home screen but when I try to start these (like googles for example) it says "application not installed" even though the icon is there.
So as you can tell there some major problem has occurred when my phone turned itself of yesterday.
Now I'm afraid my phone ****ed itself up to much to actually be recovered with is a ***** but I'm wondering how the hell could this happen? What kind of information has deleted itself and why is this possible?
And is there anything you guys think I can do except resetting the whole device. My phone is not rooted and I regret not making backups.....
I have a galaxy s3 I9300 with android 4.1.2
Regards
Victor
factory reset. don't know why it happened

[Q] Background apps won't stay. Little help?

Hi, I've got issues.
My GT i9205 will not run background apps for any length of time.
For example, if I am playing music (poweramp) and I go into any game, or fire up chrome/feedly/redditFlow, the music stops and the app icon for poweramp disappears. The access to the quick controls in my task bar is no longer there and if I switch back to the music app and press play again, it will not remember the last played point. Plus my game will get killed.
Another, possibly better example - if I fire up a more resource heavy game, tasker, swipepad, any kind of system monitor will die and their icons will disappear from the taskbar.
It also seems to be progressive, when it first started - maybe 3 months after getting the phone, I could still play games and some background apps would die, but some would stay. Now none stay and sometimes the games themselves die (while loading a level, it may kick me back out to whatever homescreen launcher I'm using).
There is also an issue whereby, when I reboot the phone, I will have to try 2/3 times as it tends to get stuck at the gently pulsating Samsung Logo and will not go further.
I'd had previous advice from someone who suspected a corrupted filesystem and recommended a factory reset, which I did. No joy, after same deal.
Last week I rooted the phone for the first time (nothing fancy just vcoreroot-v2.tar) and today I went to Sammobile and got the newest Stock ROM. Just used it with Odin and apart from Root disappearing, which was expected, I still have all the same problems.
I'm having a hard time finding a way to locate anybody else whose had the same issue and fast running out of ideas...
Any help would be much appreciated.
