[NOOB WARNING] [Q] Installing a CR on G.Centura? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the Galaxy Centura and I want to install a custom rom on it, Android 4.2.2 or Cyanogen. I'm really new to this whole thing and I don't know how to really do any of it 100% right. I guess the first thing is to ask if my phone is even compatible with putting a custom rom on it and how do I go about doing this?
Thanks!
Phone Model: Galaxy Centura SAMSUNG

I still haven't found anything out, anyone out there with knowledge?

Try googling it, I found a Rom for it on area 51 site. Shows how to root it and what not. Also it's based on the stock ice,I haven't tried it yet.

I havent tried the rom yet, but they also have a kernel that allows overclocking from 800mhz to 1200mhz. Running it with stock rom and its great.

I am running that rom with oc overclocked good work but i have a ril problem and my G C is running in gsm mode and i ve tried everything

My centura is running their ARC 1.1 ROM with the new 1.3 GHz over clocked kernel. No issues at all. I had problems with all their other custom roms, but this version is running pretty solid for me.

So is arc 1.1 still running great? And when do I get it at?

Will ICS fix the lag I'm noticing with the note?

Ever since I got the note, its noticeably slower than my GSII in terms of user interface lag. Will ICS fix that?

Nobody know. Your GSII was running on ICS or Gingerbread?
Gingerbread mostly, I just flashed an unofficial CM9 ICS last week though....

Were you running custom roms before the cm9 build? Also, are you running a custom ROM on your note?
Because if you were running custom on your sgs2, and stock on note, the sgs2 will beat it everyday.

Maybe a little but the HD screen with the s3 processor and the 220 gpu it can't handle the screen you will always see a little lag!!

Saurom_xla2_rc4a and u will need to get cwm update and thats it my fone has beeen goin so fast love it now
If it weren't for the custom ROMs I would have taken this phone back. I came from a skyrocket and this phone is much slower. Since I OC'd and installed Saurom it has been much better.

video recording issues

Guys i have had no issues with video recording on my galaxy s2, my att note, or even my captivate, but today when i was trying to record a short video of my daughter dancing around the house the video was getting very choppy. Is this a known issue and if so is there a fix for it. I've read through the forums for a bit but didn't see anything pertaining to my issue directly. Sorry if there is a thread on this issue already.
OK your sig says you have a note on at&t so I need to ask if your galaxy SIII is the north American model or the international model.
Edit: nvm I just saw that you edited it and it is in fact the international model.
I never experienced choppy video recording personally, do you have custom rom/kernel?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Sorry i just updated my signature. International Gti 9300
Oh and i'm running the criskelo rom with siyah kernel oc'd to 1600mhz.
Have you tried a different rom?
I used wanamlite with siyah and with Franco and never had any problems with video.
Using CM9 now with siyah and no problems here either.
I'm oc'd to 1600mhz also.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I dont think i ever tried using the video camera when i was stock, stock rooted, or even stock rooted just running the siyah kernel. Never noticed this. Only reason i put a rom on it is because i cant leave well enough alone. Modding. Is definitely addictive for sure.
Hmmm. I'll look into those. I really didn't plan on getting to big into romming this one because the stock ics with siyah was pretty nice. But now since i've started i guess i cant look back now. Lolol
Btw: i was trying to download the ics4.04 zip for my note while i was recording. Trying to sell it and i'll get more money for it with the update. Do you think that could have caused this? Just wondering.
That's why we're called crackflashers!
Give another rom a go and see how it works out for you, if it doesn't work then we'll go from there.

I find it funny that people need to overclock for something that runs fine on stock.
Maybe you should just remove the offending party, be it rom or kernel?

I guess ill try the perseus kernel after work and see what it does.
Runs fine on rooted stock.
I'm on beanstown's rooted stock deodexed ROM with stock kernel, runs just fine for me.

My settings/mods for a great S4 experience...

So, I just wanted to share my settings and mods from which I have found the best experience on the S4 with... I have tried all the customs ROMs out, and always find myself coming back to stock simply because everything works, and works great...
Apps: Things I cannot live without...
SD maid pro
Lagfix pro
Nova launcher pro
Titanium BU pro
Solid Explorer pro
SuperSU pro
7Zip
FolderMount pro
Terminal Emulator
Trickster
Mods: Just fun things, all 100% stable..
Nottach w/ Xposed
Trueicon fix-from different carrier forums, the Best icons period and they work with Nottach.
The V for vendetta default contact pics, no more cartons!
Latest Crossbreeder mod on xda
The all in one wifi, hotspot, CRT off mod in our vzw section- projectodex is the name
Custom Android P on apple boot, and Android robot off animations.
A few personal selected blackout app mods
Removed GPS
Removed E911 icon's
Selected bloat all frozen in Tibu
I think those are about it. Everything I listed here is the work of the awesome guys on XDA and Im by no means claiming these as mine. So please thank the individual developers!
Everything I listed here works and will work with each other. IE.., the trueicons will work on top of a completely custom drop down notification panel..
Again, all these things work on a stock rooted ROM, it looks great and nothing crashes ever. I consistently quadrant from low 13k to 14k. The phone boots official eveytime (no custom with the unlocked padlock) and the battery life is pretty great on fauxU kernel.
So, if you can't find a setup that just does it for you, give these mods a try, tweak everything out and enjoy. Remember to thank the respective devs for their work!

So everything runs odex just fine? Also the trueicon fix. Are those jbeitels?

Yep, everything runs just fine on stock odex.
The icons I found in one of the other USA S4 forums, topic named something like "true icons fixed"... Something about the full pack didn't mesh well with our stock ROM, so I tried somebody's fixed version, and it works great.
How's that lagfix app work on your s4? I'm on stock rooted rom and wanna give it a try, just dont wanna screw something up..
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda premium
I can tell a difference, if that helps. I've run it since I rooted and have had no issues. Also use it on my tablet with no side effects. Hope that helps lol.
What bloatware have you frozen or removed?
+1 Nova Launcher and Solid Explorer. I run CleanROM and it's as stable as can be.
where did you find the E911 removal? the ones i find are all for deodexed roms
The E911 removal was posted in our section back when the device first launched, can't remember the thread name for the life of me....
Apps frozen:
All things Verizon/Amazon
All printer things
Honestly, just went through everything and froze what I don't use and a few random other things. There are some good guides out for this.
That's awesome. I'm going to try some of those.
Can you flash a rom(for example pacman or cm or aokp and still do all or a lot of that?

Meh with this amazing hardware we shouldn't see any entropy issues.
It seems to me that a quad core 1.9 ghz processor should be able to handle everything we can throw at it without any lag. Personally, I find the stock s4 to lag slightly. My Note 2 however works like a dream. I guess the different brand of processors really make a noticeable difference.

Hey is that kernel overckock capable and can I use it on pac man 4.3?
Nope, 4.2 kernels don't work with 4.3
Sent from my VZW Note II using XDA DEV
NEAK is generally built around installing and letting it do it's thing. The engine app has modes you can select that do most of the work. Honestly I just let it do it's thing and it's fine. Now the sounds app is another story.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda premium
I am running neak on carbon ROM. And let me tell you, its a beast. I installed the uneak engine app and chose the battery saver option and I have been getting at least 7 hours screen time and around 18 hours total time. Thats under heavy use. If into light I'm sure I could get a day or two.

Actually.....I've got N.E.A.K. running on Paranoid Android 4.3 Alpha without a hitch. I figured I'd give it a shot and see if it boots, and to my surprise, it does and worked. I reverted back to 4.2.2 because of some other graphics anomalies which were outlined in the CM and PA threads.
I just switched to alliance rom recently and and need to find the link to the most updated neak kernel again anyone with link info?
