Hi folks,
Just went onto Samsung Apps and I got an update to UNAService.
Any idea what that could be?
There was a longer description underneath, but I didn't quite catch it in time to see what it was. Doh!
It updates the Samsung App app.
unaservice update
For the past few days i have been trying to use my samsung and quik vid app but it always pops up that there is an update. But when i click to allow update it always goes to update incomplete. Just wondering what i would need to do to be able to get these apps working again. Any suggestions?
Hello guys. Been using the galaxy s2 for the last 4 months and am amazed at the speed and amount of customization that can be done. Have not rooted it till now, am thinking about it. I'm running the latest gingerbread version 2.3.5 updated through samsung kies.
Anyways I'm having the following issues
1) The phone gets heated up when there are no widgets running and sometimes also if I just keep it on the table. it gets heated up so much to the point that it becomes scalding hot. have checked it with battery meter and temp goes upto 55 degrees C. When i switch off the data networks it returns to normal. Are there any apps which run in the background without my knowledge? if so how do i stop these apps from running.
2) Recently bought a sandisk 16gb memory card and when I transferred my 3rd app (any app) to the memory card the phone goes into a boot loop, and also causes some of the widgets and app drawer to load slowly, which caused my phone too heat up toooo much!!! I changed memory cards (4gb, 8gb etc) still the same. When I tried to show the samsung service guys this problem everything was normal. I tried the cards on another s2 and there were no problems!!! I showed them a video of the problem and they were puzzled!!!
3) Before giving my phone for checks/repair of the above problems I tried to do a backup of the phone. Even after two hours the backup was at 0% and the phone had heated up! I used another PC the next day to do backup and it was the same case!!!!
4) When I gave my phone for checking at the samsung service they asked me how was the gingerbread update done? Did the samsung service center do it or was it installed through third party software? I told them that I updated the phone via samsung kies. They then tell me that its third party software and its not official. if it is done by the samsung guys it is official. I asked them since Kies is a software released by samsung for the backing up/restore/updation of their phones how can it be third party software. they tell me thats how it is! Now the question is why is samsung kies a third party s/w to even the Samsung guys?????
5) I also told the samsung guys about the fact that i couldn't do the backup (problem no.3) and asked them to do it. But they were saying that only contacts and photos can be backed up and not the sms or mms. Again I asked them that using Kies we can do the backup of everything including sms/mms; they again, actually they demanded that it was just a fluke, and sms/mms never get backed up by the kies software. so i was wondering whether it is true that sms/mms never get backed up?
6) After I got my phone back from the service guys (the phone was formatted and 2.3.5 was freshly installed Baseband version I9100XXKI4 Kernel Version 2.6.35.7-I9100JPKJ2-CL655700 [email protected]#2 Build No.GINGERBREAD.JPKJ2). Now the question is how do I download the apps which I had before??? I don't remember all of them. Does the android market keep a record of the apps we have downloaded so that once the phone is formatted we can download the same apps by visiting the android market?
7) How do I get Need for Speed Hot Pursuit?? I'm in Qatar and I only see NFS shift in the samsung apps and that too is for galaxy S1!!!
8) the android market on the phone says I have an update for google maps but I cannot download since it is not available for my region!!! But when i access the market through a PC it says that google maps is already installed. What's happening??? Anyone have a solution???
Send a complaint to Samsung directly about the service center and the allegations they made.

Scalding = Burns does it burn the table 55 is not scalding .

100% not true its genuine Samsung though its possible for a user to mess up a firmware update via Kies did you have problems before this update .

Connect to the market using your original account log in details .

1) sorry for the misuse of words.....but the unit was hot!
6) I went online the minute I got my phone back through my PC....there was a history of the apps I had downloaded. But when I checked into google via my phone...the entire history was cleared i.e gone!
8) Initially google maps on the android market said the update is not available for my region". Now it says "Your device is not compatible with this item."
Hi everyone this is my first time posting on the forums. I just upgraded from my blackberry 9700 to a Razr HD from Fido. I've never had an android phone before so this it's all new to me. I have a few general questions about how the operating system works and i was hoping you guys can help me out.
My phone came pre-installed with a few apps from Fido, but they only link me to a website to buy games, music, etc, and only work when i am on their network. I tried deleting them but i can't, i looked it up online and the internet said the only way it can done is by rooting the device. I bought the phone replacement warranty from future shop and i don't want to void the warranty, but the internet also said that rooting the phone voids the warranty.
I also downloaded a game but it wouldn't load since i needed flash player for it to work. The game redirected me to the adobe website to get it, but i wasn't sure which version of android my phone has. My phone info only said 4.0.4, and the versions on the adobe site were 4.0.4xxxxxxx. I tried 2 of them randomly from the list but they didn't work. Also how do i upgrade my phone to the most recent version of android? When i checked for updates it said it had the most recent updates.
How secure is android, and do i have to be careful with what websites i browse or what apps i download from the google store. And is there any way to make sure an app or anything downloaded from a place other than the google store is safe?
The last thing is how do i close programs that are running? I know on my ipad i could double tap the home button and close/open apps, is there anything similar on android?
Thanks for any help you guys can give me. If you have any other general advice that would be great too.
The apps that come pre-installed can only be deleted by first rooting your phone.
Yes, rooting does void warranty, but nothing to worry about as you can unroot your phone and it will get your warranty back
About Flash Player... I really don't know.
4.0.4 is the latest update for the Motorola Razr HD. Although latest version is 4.2.1 Motorola has to work with the drivers and several stuff to get a stable version of Android working on it... Updates are not as fast as you might think but according to Motorola your phone should be getting 4.1 (Jellybean in Q1 2013)
I don't know how secure is Android, but I never had malwares or anything like that... Just try to download apps which have good comments and lot of downloads...
For Samsung Galaxy phones they all come with a Task Manager, where you can close all apps and background programs. You should download "Advanced Task Killer" that will close all the programs. and remember to not push the middle button if you want to close an app, as it will leave it running in the background, just press the backwards key.
I hope someone else completes my post :3

Questions should be asked in Q&A.
Welcome and read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1466228
The flash player isn't supported on 4.x +. But there is a way to get it. I will link u to that. And talking about play store, the apps on play store are mostly secure. But make sure u check what permissions the app is asking for and also check the reviews before downloading.
There is a built in task manager on ics (4.0.4). Hold the home button for like 2-3 sec. U ll get it. Swipe it away to close em. Personally I don't prefer any task managers (other than the stock), Cuz they r just gonna be running in background, doing some Crap thus draining battery. (not that I'm telling all that the member above said was wrong, they r just my ways! )
Flash player - try

I know it will probably never happen but would be nice for an update from att is an update that give you the permissions to remove the bloatware. I'm content with no root and even if i had to go in manually to uninstall the att stuff and amazon app, kindle, facebook, direct tv,uber etc. I had a bunch of apps disabled on my s4 because it was stupid to have Soft Pay enabled when you couldn't use it since the service was shutdown and you couldn't uninstall it either. It was the samething with the samsung market etc. I think on the last update I got for the s4 after the receiving the update and tried enabling the apps when I attempted to click on them on the screen it said the app was not installed and it disappeared. I went through and did that for a bunch it it cleared out like 4 or 5 apps I think. I just figured that since the apps were disabled the update wasn't able to delete them until I enabled them again which was perfectly fine with me.
Note that I only have one Google account on the device
I bought a brand new sealed Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. I setup the device for the first time and went straight to updating to Marshmallow which then allowed me to finally update to Oreo. So then I tried to install an app that I already paid for. But it said I didn't pay for it (says $3.99 instead of INSTALL). So I thought that maybe it's from a fishy developer who makes their apps temporary free (P.AG.F.) and pulled the rug from under me. But then I noticed all of my paid apps are UNPAID. So then I decided to go for a legit developer who I was confident is a good developer (Nova Launcher Prime), and even on the Play Store page it said I have to pay money for it even though I already purchased it on my Google account. Even when I click on "Purchased Apps" the apps show as purchased, but as soon as I go to the app's page, it show as unpaid.
So I decided to maybe factory reset the device. Nope. The problem persisted. I checked for an OS update past Android 8.0.0. There was no update. So then I decided to lookup an APK mirror for Google Play Services (using Play Services Info), and I downloaded the correct app for my device (architecture and dpi). I installed the latest Play Services. But in Play Services info it shows that my newly installed App is still the old version from 2016. On Play Services Info it says I need to install the 2018 version (obviously I tried to). It didn't do anything. Still did not work
I am wondering if I got a botched update of Oreo. What do I do? I am out ideas at this point. Man what the heck???
EDIT: Play Services version 12.6.88 (also the updated OS install this version)

I'm sure it's not the device. Check to make sure you have the latest version of play store. You can do that using the three bar menu in play store and going to settings.

That's interesting. Mine is 10.2.06 and says it's up to date. It's also working fine. Did your device update to Oreo on it's own or did you flash it with Odin? You're in the US, right?
Edit, my play services is 12.2.85. Play store is 10.2.06

Also, make sure you are not in your "Secure Folder" when running play store. It will not access your account properly and will force you to pay for everything again.
Can you access Play store from a computer? Do you still see the apps you paid for?
Otherwise, I'd contact Google Support and see what is wrong with your account.

Oh man what the heck. What do I do? My device won't let me downgrade. Oh man. I am screwed. Edit: Yes everything is fine on all of my devices. Including Android emulators. I turned on the "use secure folder" during factory setup. But when I click on Secure Folder it tells me I need to sign in to my Samsung account in order to use it. So I am not even sure if Secure Folder is the issue. Cause it wont even let me into the app unless I sign up. Play Services is 12.6.8 no downgrade allowed. Play Store is 10.2.06 ???

You're not screwed. How did you get Oreo on your device? There isn't a US version so I'm assuming you used Odin. If so did you use the UK version. You're right, you won't be able to down grade to nugat but I'm on Oreo, in the US, and it's working fine.

Nope. I read news today that Samsung Tab S3 in the US are rolling out Oreo updates. I got excited and I was like oh what a coincidence because that day was the same day I decided to open up my brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 from the sealed retail packaging. So like I really didn't do much. No tweaks. No strange configuration or app installations. I literally went through Android settings and installed the updates through the official "search for update" method. Note that the update service found the Marshmallow update and forced me to install it before I would be able to find the Oreo update.
No Odin. No flashing. No rooting. No Adb. Nothing nada. EDIT: It's possible I bought a NON-US version of Tab S3, but I don't see how that is relevant because that version of Tab S3 should have Play Store bugs ironed out by now.

The US version of Oreo isn't available for Odin flash yet, otherwise I'd give it a try and see if it's an issue with the firmware. But I don't think even Samsung would have messed up play store. If it was just released it may be available later today.

I feel like if I flashed an Oreo ROM then the problem would disappear. Is there no one else from the US beside me who has updated through the official outlet?
On my Oreo Play Services is v12.6.85 and Play store is v10.2.06-all and I see my paid for apps without issues.

Man. Wtf why does this always happen to me with Google? Like in YouTube, my old playlists show up on my PC Chrome Browser. But they don't even exist in the YouTube app (only the new playlists appear). And on YouTube, there is exactly ONE youtuber that I can't toggle notification for, and that is Marquez Brownlee. But if I made another YouTube account I can toggle on the notification (the ringing bell symbol) for this YouTuber just fine.
NOBODY has these issue except me. Why?
I HAVE INCLUDED SCREENSHOTS AND PICTURES. SOMEBODY HELP ME

Oh I meant that I can't downgrade Play Services, as in I can't install an older version of Play Services.
Another Picture shows the Play Store works fine on other devices. Also here is video of Marquez Brownlee notification problem if you don't believe me. Problem has existed for years already and still hasn't been fixed.
Edit: Second video is portrait because I'm taking it with the Tab S3 with a heavy armored Gumdrop case and can't hold it in landscape (small hand and body) while using the mouse. Don't have tripod either and I was trying to obscure private information.
It isn't that we don't believe you. We do. But there is something wrong with your Google account. If it was me I would factory reset the device and go through the re-install of the Google Account. Somehow Android is not getting updated with your Google Account info so either it is a connectivity issue with Google or something with the install process.

SOLVED.
You have to turn off that option during initial "factory" setup. I couldn't turn it off because I didn't have or don't remember my Samsung Account. You need the Samsung Account in order to go past the login screen for "Secure Folder". As far as I know, there is no way to turn off secure folder after it is turned on without a Samsung Account. Deactivating/disabling the Secure Folder app also did not work. I fixed it by factory resetting the device and making sure that the initial toggle for Secure Folder is set to "OFF" (I think the reset is a necessary prerequisite). It looks like the issue is poor software design. Being required to have an account to turn if off, while being able to turn it on without the account is just a terrible choice in design. User aspexil, you have been thanked.

Glad you got it solved. That might be something new with Oreo. I didn't have that problem when I first got my tab. Ever since it's been rooted and I've never had a Samsung account. Or maybe I turned it off when initially setting up the tab.

UNSOLVED.
Actually it's unsolved again. I typed down Nova Launcher in the search box to check if I have it "paid". And it showed up as paid. But now I realized that I was looking for Nova Launcher Prime. Damn it. I guess I need to flash my Tab S3 to a reliable ROM then?

When you factory reset did it reset to Android v7.1? Maybe just stop there and see if you can get the tablet to work before applying Android v8.0? I haven't used anything but stock so don't know what ROM to use.

Nope. When I factory reset. It reset to Android Oreo 8.0.0. Play Services installed was 12.6.85 (instead of 12.6.88, I think I actually installed 12.6.88 manually via sideloading). The play store version is the same 10.2.06.
So I am wondering which ROM provided online is legitimately unchanged and STOCK so I can just flash via Odin. Then install the Oreo update via WiFi (I am assuming I received a corrupted update that won't happen again).
Also, one guy told me from another thread that he had the same issue and said he just waited a few days and let Play Services "sync" and it just fixed itself automatically. Although, I don't know if he really does have the same problem.

I'm pretty sure you will not be able to install nougut firmware after installing Oreo. The bootloader for Oreo is new and Samsung usually trips an e-fuse when updating the bootloader. But you can give it a try and then letting the device update. I get firmware from updato. But be advised that Oreo for the us isn't available yet (nougut is there). The UK version works fine, though. That's what I'm on.
PS, you'll have to enable developer options and then oem unlock to use Odin.
