Try disabling Google Now, it eats your battery pretty fast. Also, remember that Google Maps may have separated configuration for this (location history). You can also use some app like Wakelock detector to analyze what application is preventing your phone from going to deep sleep.

Use Betterbattery stats or Gsam Battery Monitor to see what is using the battery or keeping the phone awake.
With out more information people will just be guessing
No its not just you.Theres been several threads about this since its release.
You can revert back to 4.0.3 which will cure that problem.
No need to search,or post in the LS8 thread,or muck around with BBS etc.
"noob ok...lazy noob not ok"
Well, who knows? Maybe search first, because this topic has been discussed way too many times by now.

so....
so what you are saying is that, this is a REAL ISSUE and that samsung must release a fix for this, right???
is this a real posibility , like would Samsung ever consider to realease a FIX for this, did they ever do it in the past in a similar case?
or maybe if were lucky in a year or 2 they will, by then...
No it means some people are having worse battery life then on ICS but I have better batter life than on ICS if you read the other threads about the same topic over the last few days you might see something that helps you improve the battery life. Or install battery stats and see what is using the battery
we...?
Should i Flash back to ICS 4.0.3 with ODIN???

Hello and please let me give my personal experience.
I think it is a matter of modem.
It depends on country/carrier.
I had the same problem exactly, I flashed a XXLQ6 modem [even though it is for 4.0.4 firmware - I don't know if I did something dangerous for my phone, I am a newbie], signal is much better and battery lasts longer.
3G - H - H+ : smooth and stable internet browsing with the new modem.
My country is Greece . Carrier is COSMOTE. Stock Samsung XXLS8 firmware. PhilZ-cwm6 - Safe Stock Based Kernel v4.00-b39 from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270
I hope I was helpful with my 1st post here.
Yes the modem is one of the possible problems you can have and flashing a modem that works better for your area is the best option if the stock one does not work well as you have done.
The OP says nothing is using his battery but yet the battery goes flat so it is not possible to help with that as something is draining the battery else it would not go flat unless the battery is faulty but then it would not last for any ROM.
I use XXLQ6 modem as well
Congrats on the 1st post...
just turn off Google Now and Google localization. it should increase your battery life.
I had drain went to millitant rom, now my battery is better then ics

Greetings,
I had rooted my Samsung Galaxy S II running official Jellybean (XXLSJ) and instantly noticed that the phone's battery life was suffering. After analyzing the applications and services running in the background with adb, I found the phone stayed 'awake' even when it was not being used, and SuperSU is the only application in the phone requesting the permission for "Preventing the Phone from Sleeping" Could SuperSU be the reason for reduced battery life? Please help me in resolving this issue.
Thanking You
Are you sure battery life was okay before rooting?
Many users have experienced serious battery drainage with the recent JB releases which emanate from the stock ROM, not the rooting process. There are several threads around that describe the possible causes and possible workarounds.
Rooting doesn't affect battery, users do.

Hi there, I have a P768 with V20A running, I have rooted, installed CWM with bootstrap method, I have frozen or uninstalled the bloatware that was preinstalled on the rom. My battery doesnt last long at all! Anyone got any battery tips or things i can freeze? ICS was much better on the battery. Could it be the mexican baseband making it drain fast? I use my 3G a fair amount.

I bought an LG Optimus L9 P768 from a friend (my 1st smart phone ever), who has updated it to JB. I noticed that the battery behavior is not usual; I charge the phone about 3 times daily with only minimal 3G internet browsing and few calls. After some googling, found that some people reported the same battery drainage directly after the JB update.
My questions:
01- Has there been any update or patch to solve that battery problem?
- checking from the phone returns "You are using the latest software version for current OS."
- using LG Mobile Support Tool yields " Your device has the latest software available from the LG Mobile Support Tool"
"Software version V20A" (SCREEN ATTACHED)
02- As an Android primitive caveman, the 1st thing that came to my mind to revert the phone to ICS. Using "Update Recovery" in LG Mobile Support Tool.
- After asking me for my IMEI, it downloaded a 500+ file, then failed TWICE at 5%. (SCREEN ATTACHED)
03- I stumbled on [GUIDE] FLASH Any LG Factory ROM (kdz) WITH OFFLINE FIX METHOD [UNBRICK], but I cannot figure out how to get the official stock roms.

3A- Will any rom with the same model, i.e. p768, work regardless to the country?
3B- I also found THIS but the website looks suspicious, doesn't it? tried downloading that one from United Arab Emirates section, as it's the closest to Egypt where I bought the phone with it's working warranty in country, but I always get "Size mismatch after 23%".
NOTE:
- I'm not in love with ICS or even the official roms in general, I just want my battery to last as it should be without any weird application behavior.
- Any suggestion with any trusted custom roms are much appreciated as long as the battery will work properly.

Charge phone to 100 but leave it charging then factory reset and remove cable. Tell me if you see any difference in drainage after a few hours.

Despite of the fact that I did a factory reset before starting this thread, I did it again as you described with the cable on and then removed it. Unfortunately, the problem still persists. Using Opera mini on a 3G connection with 50% brightness drains the battery on the rate of 1% every 3-4 mins.
not sure about the battery problem only being with jb. but i could surely help you with rolling back to ics
and the website you found for lg firmwares is perfect. i guess everybody on the forum uses this website.

I succeeded in reverting back to ICS stock rom (downloaded a random 10A one from that page), followed cmahendra's guide and the unusual Cell Standby percentage is gone. But my impression is that the battery usage is still relatively high; why don't we, L9 users, make a standardized battery benchmark? using Antutu Tester for example, so that we don't rely merely on impressions.
I'll start by sharing mine. (See the attachments)
I know it cannot be that accurate due to different ram and cpu usage, which Antutu cannot control, but at least gives an approximate picture.

Hi, I'm havin the same battery drains after JB update, specially from cell and phone idle (ridiculous). I did the Antutu test: full charge, begin test and I lefted it with no use overnight; and I scored 463 (aprox in the middle of the chart).
How old is ur phone?

Original date of purchase is in last April, then I bought it in August from a friend. I don't think it's old enough to cause this unusual battery drain. Don't you think so?

I tested with Antutu again and the score decreased; 1st time (on ICS) was 399, 2nd (on ICS) 370, 3rd (on JB) 326. I think we need more users to share their test results.

Yeah, more results would be useful. I asked the LG support for help with this problem, they haven't answered me yet... I'll tell you if they do.
Solution?
Hi, I tried something that worked for me. I did this 2 days ago and yesterday I went from 100% battery at 9 am to aroud 40% at midnight. Apparently the battery needs to get calibrated after the update. Anyways, what I did:
Use your phone normally until battery gets depleted and the phone turns off by itself.
Then plug in the charger and turn it on again (you have to wait until the yellow icon dissapears)
After I turned on I saw that the battery was around 25%, wich was ridiculous considering it was depleted and it was charging only for 5 minutes, so I plugged off the charger and let it reach 1%
When almost depleted and before it turns off again plug it in and let it charge for a while (I left it overnight)
After that the battery estarted to work like before the update to JB. Phone and cell idle are still the most consming apps though, but well...
It's 2 days after that and battery is working fine, I'll update you if anithing changes.
PD: no word from the LG support... -.-

Can you test using Antutu Tester and post your phones score here?
I am so close to throw this piece of **** for a phone out the window
my first and last LG purchase
My galaxy s3 i9300 is draining the battery fast.
It hardly last for 5-6 hours on standby.
At first I thought it was jelly bean 4.3 that caused the problem, so I removed 4.3 and installed 4.0.4 but the problem remains.
Then I figured the battery must be problematic so I bought a new one, follow the instructions on how to handle new batteries but still it drains it fast.
It drains it with 4.0.4 and with 4.3.
No apps are running in the backround, it drains it on a fresh installation of the OS.
I really don't know what else to try.
Can any one give some help or pointers?
Regards
Hundreds of identical threads, search and read for more information.
If you are running stock firmware then you have many apps running during standby, disable or remove all Samsung apps and greenify the rest.
