[Q] Trying to get back to factory firmware - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I have been trying to get back to factory stock on my Australian tab z as per the instructions here
The trouble I am having is, I'm not exactly sure which numbers I'm supposed to be using where.
I have found the correct customization from this list and it is as follows:
"SGP312 VMo AU_NZ 1273-3733" "1272-9961 SGP312/Tablet/VMo AU_NZ (VMo AU_NZ)/White" for 11000000
"FSP_Pollux_GLOBAL_WIFI32G_1273_3733_S1_SW_LIVE_5CA3_PID1_0002_MMC.R3B_10_3_1_C_0_136.SIN_FILE_SET"
"MS_CDF_1274_9926.R2A.SIN_FILE_SET"
"ELABEL_Pollux_elabel_sgp312_row.201305301031_1_10_3_1_C_0_136.SIN_FILE_SET"
"APP_SW_Pollux_WIFI_1269_4875_S1_SW_LIVE_5CA3_PID1_0002_MMC.10_3_1_C_0_136.SIN_FILE_SET"
Can anyone tell me which digits are the ro.semc.version.cust?
Thanks

I can't answer your question, but why don't you just use the Sony Falsh Tool ("Emma") to go back to stock? You can find all you need here.
Be Aware - this will completely wipe your internal SD.

For some reason, it always tries to make me flash a Japanese SGP311 even though I am looking at the box it came in with SGP312A1 on the side and it most certainly has 32gb storage. Weird huh

[Q] Returning to stock?

Howdy Folks,
If [when] I go with one of the "ROM's" (i.e. GreyBlur/GladiAtrix/GingerBlur) if I should desire to go back to the phone's stock ROM how would I go about doing so? Is that just a matter of a factory reset, or do I need to take another approach?
I'm also assuming I would need to do so to update the phone?
Thanks for the help!

Thank you!! By the way, what in the world does SBF stand for?
System boot file?
So back on this topic, can't I just recover back to stock by going into recovery mode (a la http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966648)? Or would one of these ROM's modify the files that such a recovery mode uses and therefore make it not an option?
EDIT: and now I've come across this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038063&highlight=cwm
So can I somehow backup a copy of my phone's OS to restore to? That would be ideal.
I'm not familiar at all with this clockworkmod thing. Sorry I know these are probably stupid questions but everyone has to learn for the first time at some point. Thanks folks for the help.
Sorry for the bump but I'm trying to get this answered. This is the last thing I wanted to find out before I root / install a ROM.

[Q] p7500ruxkh4 Rooting and more

Ok here it is,
Im reading and reading about the rooting.
I tryed to synch my tab with kies to root my tab following this THREAD but it doesnt work
So I posted about it and someone suggested me to check the LOOK HERE THREAD instead
I have a p7500 16gb 4G(well in fact 3G++) and wi-fi (p7500ruxkh4)
Im in canada (quebec province) and am with rogers
data plan, locked sim
honeycomb 3.1
kernel is 2.6.36.3
Now i want to use some apps like titanium backup and some others that need a rooted tab and thats it. I dont want to change kernel or rom or whatever else.
In the LOOK HERE THREAD, there is 2 different P7500 rooting method, one for the 3G and one for the 4G.
On my box and in my "task bar" its says 4G but for what i know, its more 3G++ than real 4G, So WICH one of the tuto do i follow ?
Also, at http://www.samfirmware.com/ i cant find the stock firmware for my p7500ruxkh4
That mean that if i do wrong, i wont be able to recover as brand new. Any clues of where to find it ?
Now about CMW and Odin, since i just want to root, do i have to dl thoses programs ?
Also in the UNROOT tutorial, you guys talk about the filesfordummies, but for what i read, this file is for the p7510 and not for my p7500 right?
So if i want to UNROOT my P7500, what are the proper steps to follow ?
I know, theses are probably noob questions but after searching on the net and this forum, I couldnt find any clear anwsers so i think i should ask you guys first instead of trying and brick my tab.
There is 5 bold/underline questions. I hope some of you have all the anwsers.
Thanks in advance for your help
1. IMPORTANT: in the look here thread use the root package for the 3G model
the 4G/LTE version will cause your system to bootloop
2. DO A NANDROID backup of your stock install -- then you have that to go back to.
3. Team Overcome have a great guide and package: stock for restore and clean purposes, CWM for root usage and a very nice custom rom: see here
4. if you want a custom kernel, there is one by Pershoot and the modification by rego here which plays nice with Overcome and matches your 7500 very well.

thanks but just like i stated before, all i want is to ROOT the tab.
I was wondering if you backed up your Stock Firmware? I am using some Europe firmware as of now because I was one of the unlucky who used the 4G unlock.

well, i rooted my tab and used rom manager to backup my actual rom. i dont know if it can help u.
another thing, i changed the hosts file in /system/etc/hosts to avoid ads in games or app.
since im not rally used to all this stuff, tell me if there is something i can do for you, and if so, ill help with pleasure
If you backed it up just after you rooted it should be okay, I should be able to load your Backup to get my rom back to normal and then Factory Reset to get it all cleaned off. Let me know if there is a way you can email or dropbox it to me in a pm.
It would be awesome!
check ur pm, if it work, just click thanks
Thanks alot. I'll click thanks and personally write a thank you note.
Just so you know you're likely to be asked to help other Canadians as well. As the firmware is apparently hard to come buy.

[Q] Help needed for a newbie

Hi all,
Sorry if this is the wrong section and has possibly been covered many times before but I am new to this Android stuff and wanted instant answers due to not understanding things covered in posts and threads on the forum.
The phone:
I have a Sony Xperia x10i which was previously on Orange but has now been unlocked. It had Gingerbread 2.3 before but now has been what I assume is "debranded" and is now 2.1 (I dont know what)
The Problem:
I have tried to update via SonyPC companion where it shows "update avaliable" as I go to proceed it fails after clicking the next button (which sometimes comes up hidden in the dialog box)
I want to update the android market app to GooglePlay but due to being stuck on 2.1 it wont allow it unless 2.2 upwards.
Using Google - i typed in the build number which seems to throw back that it is a Greek rom of some kind?
Final note:
I want to keep my phone up to date without destroying the software or installing custom roms, basically keeping it original and simple. I want the latest firmwares etc so that it is all up to date. Also I would like to keep it unlocked without having to shell out to get it unlock again after it has been done once.
Hope someone can help me out. I can answer questions if more info needed.
Many thanks in advance.
(UK using o2 SIM)
I dont know 100% on what to do because im certainly no professional, but in the system phone menu at the bottom does it definatly show Android 2.1?
It says firmware 2.1 -update1 if that means anything?
It needs to mod the build.prop file to set device as global generic one and update with PC companion.
But it requires root first.
Evenit is very strange, almost all of the x10i got 2.3.3 fw.
Or second solution - download 2.3.3 stock fw and flash it via flashtool
Thanks for the reply.
Can you explain a bit better as I dont understand sorry.
Did you mean I have to modify the build somehow?
I thought about the new rom solution but not sure if my device network unlock would still be there after installing new roms. Can someone point me to a simple guide on installing a new rom etc.

You must be sure if what you want first
If you want to install a custom ROM, you will only need to root your device, install recovery and flash whatever ROM you want.
Or you can flash the stock 2.3.3 with Flashtool (thing thats the easiest solution for you) update and decide for custom roms later.
You have X10i rignt? Not X10a yes?
After you will decide what you want will provide further information.

I think I will go with this option first and try the roms later when i have more understanding on what i am doing
Definately x10i. (what is the difference between the "i" and "a" by the way for interest)
I think i have tried rooting by using superoneclick and it is rooted (any way to double check?)
I appreciate your help a lot with all this..

The X10i is version for europe and parts of asia and so on. X10a is mainly from USA and Canada (other GSM module). Also exists SO-01B which is a Japanese version of X10i.

Yes on google play exists app called Root check However it is not so important because we dont need a root at this time.

Everytime someone helps you, hit the "Thanks"button below his post, it will give him more good feelings Its a good habit everywhere here on XDA.
So here we go:
1.) Download the Flashtool form here:
http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
2.) Donwload the generic SE WWE 2.3.3 ROM (here from my older post):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26141346&postcount=13
3.) Once complete - extract the file.ftf form ROM archive and place it in Flashtool directory called "firmwares"
4.) Run Flashtool, select Flash, choose Flash Mode (not fastboot) and then follow the onscreen steps
5.) Hint - maybe you will have problems to get your device into the Flash mode, see my post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26135308&postcount=4
Enjoy!
Smashing! I will definately give this a go next week as going away so dont want to screw the phone up before go lol. Will report back when Ive cracked it.

Hello,
Sure i want to help you,it was a lot of searching on the internet,en a lot of "hit and mis" trying
for me this helped me just fine, but maybe other more experiences users do it another way...
First backup everything you dont want to loose.
I have first installed Flashtool 09.9.0 here is a link; http://androxyde.github.com/
then i have searched for the Android gingerbread 2.3 ftf file. (its a bout 250mb big unzipped or 500 mb unzipped)
here a download location where you can download the file: https://rapidshare.com/#!download|271|2005005665|st27i_6.0.B.3.184_CE_ftf.rar|270851
and choose "save file to your computer")
Then put that downloaded file in your flashtool folder (normally this is: c/flashtool/ ...and put it in the folder "firmwire")
Then connect your x peria go with usb connection to your computer.
open flashtool and choose the "flash" icon.
then choose "flash mode" and then normally the right file is already selected ( 'st 27i-60b184 etc...) if not you have to choose it manually
(c/flashtool/firmwire..) then hit the "ok" button and of you go!
Just follow further instructions very secure (be sure you follow it correctly, for example ress volume down button,connect/disconnect the usb cable etc...) if you are doing in nog right it will not work.
I hope it helps you :good:

Phil

Thank you very much but another question, is this for the st27i (note the "i") or for the st27a, cause i read that they use different 3g freq, another thing is this global or locked to a specific region? (im in mexico so i want to make sure that it will work) because when i flashed to ics 3g didnt work, and the guy that works for my carrier company made me the favor to change its freq or someting so that the 3g's phone worked but im pretty sure that he wont do it again lol thank you in advance
there's no such problems i used MT15a firmware on my MT15i.... they use the same baseband so dont worry
Sent from my MT15i using xda app-developers app
Hi,
Hmmm that is a trickky question.
I am located in europe (belgium) for me everything works fine, but for mexico i really don't know...
I schould say give it a go...and if it dont work put back android 4.0 (or whatever is on your phone)
putting back android 4 is the same as i described to put android 2.3 back on it with flashtool...
and if im correct you can let the software do that (that came with your phone) from sony itself to get the update to android 4.0
Greetingsn

Hello,
Well i thought my phone was working fine now (and it does)
but like you say my 3 G for internetting also do not work....
At home i go on the internet via Wifi and thats works fin,but today i tested my 3G connection for internetting and indeed it dont work...
You think it is the fault from a wrong ftf file "st27i"?
Hmmmm in dont know what region uses the correct file,so if somebody knows where to find that, feel free to help
But if 3 g dont work overhere in europe the chacne is big it works fine at your place...
EDIT:I just called my provider and it was only a matter of selecting some internet options on my phone.
so that i had no 3G had nothing to do with a bad firmwire from another country.
They think this firmwire should work everywhere, its more a matter op selecting the right options on your phone...
hope this helped...

Phil

what were the configurations that you had to do in order to solve 3G's problem?
Wel i went to the website from my operator here in Belgium and for each phone they have put all the correct settings on their site step by step, very easy...
For example my "sony xperia go" it is this page: http://klantenservice.telenet.be/mo.../st27i-xperia-go/internet/handmatig-instellen
then you see on the rightdown side "Volgende" klik there a few times on and you see what steps i had to take to get my ineternet
working with 3G.
Offcourse these settings will maybe nog suit your phone in your country, but then you see what pages you must change to get 3G working.
Only the settings will change but it is the same pages/menu on your phone
Best is to contact your operator and ask what settings must be done
Baseband didnt change

Hi, i know its been a while, but i just wanted to let you know that the reason why i didnt had 3g was not because of the baseband changed, the reason is because i didnt had the APN of my carrier... i know that is reaaly noob but it was my bad... just in case this is useful to someone else

[Q] Xperia stuck after cyanogenMod

Hi,
I really hope someone can help, after installing CyanogenMod my xperia no loger gets past the opening screen which has the round circle animation with CyanogenMod in the middle.
I can get into recovery so if someone could provide ideally either a stock rom or possibly instructions on how to get past this it would be greatly appreciated.
I've looked for a stock rom but can't seem to find one.
BTW this is a SGP321 model
Thanks in advance

Hi,
1. you can find the Stock firmware here.
2. To maybe fix the bootloop I would need more info
- Which Cyanogenmod did you use?
- Did you wipe beforehand?

Hi,
Apologies for the late response and thank you for your help.
I don't know how but the device seems to be working now with cyogen 10.1.2...weird
I do have a follow on question, if that's ok, can i load your recommended 10.2 version or the stock rom after installing cyo 10.1.2?
apologies for the newbie question but thanks again for links.
Best regards

Hi,
1. you can find the Stock firmware here.
2. To maybe fix the bootloop I would need more info
- Which Cyanogenmod did you use?
- Did you wipe beforehand?
- If you try to mount /data in recovery do you get a warning that it is inaccessible

Hi,
- theoretically you should be okay updating to CM10.2, but make a nandroid backup nonetheless. I use CM10.2 for 4 days sraight now and it works just as good as CM10.1 for me.
- going back to stock on the other hand will most certainly not work without losing your data.

Thanks a lot lowtraxx,
thankfully I not loaded anything on so no major data to lose. will give 10.2 a go after a backup.
thanks again for the support, really appreciate it.
