[Q] How re s-on HTC EVO 3D CDMA? - HTC EVO 3D

I am trying to create a guide (video) mainly on how to s-off the htc evo 3d cdma. My evo 3d is already s-off and i was wondering how to s-on it again so i can make this guide. I have already tried to reinstall this>(http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph..._1.43_release_271101_signed.exe&send_file=yes) and it dosent s-on it. Is there any way to do this? I s-offed my phone using the jbear wire trick. Maybe i could use a cmd command to s-on? Any help will be thanked!

The only way to revert to S-on, is to enter this command in fastboot:
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
Warning: you MUST be on an oem stock hboot variant to use this command. Otherwise you WILL brick your phone.

You dont get S-off if you use htc method. you unlokck the bootloader and it remains s-on.

Run the RUU for 2.08.651.3, then relock the bootloader
Code:
fastboot oem lock

To clarify the terminology.
Currently, only revolutionary will mark the bootloader as "s-off" and their exploits only work on Hboot 1.3 and 1.4 (along with the same respective system software versions).
Using the HTC method which will only work on hboot 1.5, the bootloader will show *UNLOCKED* at the top. After undoing the HTC unlock method, the bootloader will show *RELOCKED* at the top.
There is no "s-off" for hboot 1.5 and no way to prevent the *RELOCKED* from appearing when the HTC unlock method is turned off.
Hope that helps clarify!

[Q] get rid of ***RELOCKED***???

has anybody succesfully gotten rid of ***RELOCKED*** on the 3d after rooting? i went back to stock so i am s-on again but want to get rid of the relocked message.
I have a gsm model. Reflashed ruu via pg86img to older version from my carrier. Then fastboot command 'fastboot oem writesecureflag 3' and then I was back to s-on showing lock not relock
I was revolutionary s-off

Same here got the ruu from xda then run the ruu then head to %TEMP% folder in windows and copy the rom.zip then rename it to PG86IMG.zip place it on sd , boot into bootloader on phone and update. this makes your phone like brand new from factory then connect to pc open command prompt and type "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" this turns s-off too s-on after this reboot bootloader and you will see ***locked*** s-on
But to do that, you have to be s-off first.
Otherwise there's no way to flash the img via bootloader if i'm not mistaken.
I just tried it (s-on / relocked) and neither the flashing or the fastboot command works unfortunately

cant you use the revolutionary method to s-off then flash the ruu zip? then use the command to s-on again. worked for me on hboot 1.4.9.0018 this gives you ***locked*** not relocked!

HTC Warranty.I'm from Europe
ok i do have sprint...i want the locked message...not relocked.
For me on Sprint version, no matter what I did it would show relocked if I was on hboot 1.50. If i was on hboot 1.40 it was fine. So I stayed 1.40 on went s-on. But HTC may actually upgrade it and check. Not sure.
so if im hboot 1.50 and root, i could downgrade to 1.40 then flash a ruu to loose root and it will show locked in stead of relocked?
does this work if i unlocked the bootloader with the HTCDev method instead of revolutionary?? my evo 3d is GSM

***LOCKED*** but on S-OFF (((Needing HELP)))

Ok here is the skinny on the situation:
I began with an unlocked bootloader & S-OFF using the wire trick & 4ext
After loading the borked CM9 yesterday, to recover I used the RUU for T-Mobile

I want to first say thanks to the unlimited.io team for making S-OFF possible.
Secondly, by following these instructions you are acknowledging that should something go wrong and you brick your device, I am not at fault nor are the developers of the S-OFF method for the HTC RUBY. Follow these instructions at your own risk! I am NOT a dev, just stupid enough to be the first one (I think) To try this. I am not going to give instructions on how to use fastboot, if you are S-Off, then you should already know.
Third, you WILL be able to re-unlock your bootloader and regain S-OFF after you have followed these instructions. If you want to do so, there are other threads on how to do that.
And 4th, I have only tried this on a tmobile branded device. I have no idea if this works on any other device. I think it should, but I don't know for sure. If anybody wants to give it a try and let me know, then i will update the OP.
Now to the steps.
1. Download the stock ruu from here
2. Lock your bootloader by using the fastboot command "fastboot oem lock"
Now my bootloader displays:
***LOCKED***
RUBY PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.93.0002
eMMC-boot

When attempting to flash a recovery with latest Hasoon 5.1 toolkit
or
using the recovery.zip from dcacklam
I'm presented with:
C:\ADB\fastboot flash recovery c:\adb\recovery.zip
seding 'recovery' <6320 KB>... OKAY [ 1.513s]
writing 'recovery' ... FAILED <remote: not allowed>
Finished. total time: 1.839s
So I attempted to unlock via HTCdev bootloader procedures and I'm presented with an the following error:
Unlocking Bootloader Failed!
Sorry it didn't work out. Here's why:
We're sorry, but it appears your attempt to unlock the bootloader on this device has failed. This could be caused by several factors including simple errors in the entry of the unlock token, problems with your device, or a lack of manufacturer support for the unlocking process. Please see the specific error code listed below, and try again if necessary.
Error Code: 173.
Error Reason: Check Rule Fail with exception.
After attempting at least 5 times (I had read HTCdev has given a similar error as a false answer) the other error was that the token id was to long
I've searched for over 2 hours after a 12 hour day & a 3 hour drive this evening. Anyone with advice I would welcome it.
Do I attempt to S-OFF the phone again?
Keeping trying the HTCdev site (its incredibly slow with IE 9 & Chrome)?
Thanks again.
My bootloader sayes *unlocked* and S-ON wel it cares only aboved the S-*** i think.

Do you need to be unlocked if you use jbear hboot?
I mean don't you just need a eng hboot or jbear hboot,to flash recovery?
Sent from my HTC Ruby using xda app-developers app
You don't need to unlock your bootloader. You need either JB HBOOT or ENG HBOOT. Flash either HBOOT and then flash the recovery.
So wouldn't it be less of a headache to just flash jbear hboot then try to re-unlock bootloader if it just errors repeatedly.

Just need another HBOOT. He has s-off. That's the point. You don't need to unlock the bootloader since s-off is an unlocked bootloader.

You said he may need to reunlock the boot loader. I'm saying he doesn't need to, unless I misunderstood what you wrote.

I tried many methods always get I/O error and the device disconnects in linux.

try that tool kit and see how it works for you ...if not there is another unbricking way but takes longer
next time relock your bootloader first THEN do the fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
