[Q] battery drain LTE vs Wifi - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm planning to buy a XTZ. But I'm not sure whether buying the LTE or Wifi version.
How does the LTE-module affect battery drain, compared to Wifi?
thanks,
woggly4

I'm not using LTE now but 3g only. It drains A LOT. But when I'm on plane mode (for turnig of mobile data permamently - trick from asus tablets) and only wifi, it works much longer.

Network Signal issues

My Phone gives good network only in GSM mode
as soon as i switch to WCDMA mode the signal strength drops considerably(0 to 1 bars) with a lot of call drops.
Im on Vodafone in India(Dehradun)
Phone model: GT - I9300
Android ver : 4.0.4
Baseband : i9300DDLF3
there is another forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449540 which looks at the same issue for HTC sense..but nobody has substantially answered that.
I want a good data speeds with ability to have good network for calls and SMS(that the phone was originally meant for )
is it a hardware problem??software problem??
Propably its your carrier "problem", its mean weak 3/3.5G signal strange in your region.
Try Network Signal Info from market to check this.

First is definite network check .
Second is factory reset.
Third is update firmware .
Fourth is change modem .

well the app showed: -103 dba 3 asp i guess that pretty bad..
will try out another network and will post here.
Another noob question though : cell network with edge
cell network with 3G ..do these both work on different radio freq.?
cause when im on WCDMA mode....data transfer is seamless without any problems...its just the calls that are bad....

gsm mode = edge
3g mode = wcdma(hspa,hspa+)
yes they operate in different frequency.. as long as your signal is bad you will see drop out in calls.
OK.. so i tried some stuff....
i did a factory reset.did not solve my problem
i inserted another network's SIM card and the signal fired up immediately.
so i now know its Vodafone's bad signal in my area.. :crying:
Anyways..thanx for the help ppl.

Last ota energy problems + mobile data

Get the feeling since the last ota the battery drain increased much + loseing the LTE signal and when it switch back i dont get a connection. Have to activate air modus and reconnect.
Others?

Almost the same problem here: while a good LTE or 3G signal is present, data is getting disconnected randomly, usually after only about a minute of proper operation. Flight mode or rebooting will not always return the device into a usable condition.
After swallowing the broken finger print sensor and the poor audio of the loudspeaker, this is completely inacceptable.
While I rarely return products, I am done with Elephone and will get rid of it, while I still can.

Max wifi speed?

Hi everybody,
I have question about wifi speed xperia z ultra.

So,my question- it's possible somehow setting xperia z ultra for more speed,or 300mbps is max?

LTE is 150mb/s down and 50mb/s up
Wifi is 325 Mbit/s down over 5GHz AC. No details of up bandwidth.
http://dl-developer.sonymobile.com/documentation/whitepapers/Xperia_Z_Ultra_LTE_C6833_WP_7.pdf
So the z ultra is running with the pedal to the metal on your wifi network.

Honor 10 only connects to 5Ghz wifi after boot, then only connects to 2.4Ghz

Hi everyone,
I have recently installed a Unify AP in the house. This AP allows me to see what devices are connected and at what speed. I noticed that my Honor 10 seems to be always connected to 2.4Ghz band and not to 5Ghz. I tried restarting the phone, after which the Honor 10 did connect to 5 Ghz, so I know it is capable of doing so. However, when I walk around the house, it switches back to 2.4 Ghz.
I understand that 2.4Ghz has a longer range, but when I am close to the AP, it would be nice to have 5Ghz connection.
Does anyone have the same issue or knows how to fix it?
I never had problems with 2.4 / 5gHz in honor 10. Are they showed as two Wi-Fi access points? Maybe the production of EMUI did not put much effort into Wi-Fi networks at different frequencies... If they're 2 separate Wi-Fi points you should be able to select one and connect. But I guess constantly switching from 2.4 to 5 without user interaction It could cause problems, e.g. delay in changing the network at an important moment
I guess for some reason it just prefers the 2.4 gHz

AP set to 5Ghz preferred
I set my AP to prefer the 5Ghz frequence. I do not have my wifi set as separate access points. They have the same SSID and passwords, but that should not matter.

Hi,
I recently installed a Unify AP network in the house and seeing the same issue. Honor 10 will connect to 5ghz if you choose a '5ghz only' SSID but if it's a dual SSID then the Honor 10 will always choose 2.4ghz. Other devices on the network don't have an issue and connect to 5ghz fine.
Did you ever figure out a solution?
Thanks
