This is just a simple build.prop mod to fix the fingerprint back to the working ERE27 one used in CM. Everything in Settings still shows FroYo, but the Market sees you as ERE27 & thus gives you your protected apps back
To install run this from the directory you unzip the file to:
ADB Method:
Code:
adb remount
adb shell rm /system/build.prop
adb push froyo.prop /system/build.prop
adb shell reboot
Then, once it reboots, go into the dialer, and type
Code:
*#*#CHECKIN#*#*
which is
Code:
*#*#2432546#*#*
for those of you who are too lazy to read the letters
A message should pop up into the status bar after a few seconds depending on your connection speed saying checkin succeeded.
Now you're good to go, open Market and download away
EDIT: Since I know some of you will wonder what this does, it just changes the ro.build.fingerprint & ro.build.description settings back to ERE27. This alone would normally be enough, but you're depending on luck to when you next check in. Dialing that code in the Dialer will force a checkin.
EDIT 2: Thanks to Shafty023 here is a method for the shell:
LINUX SHELL METHOD
Copy froyo.zip to /sdcard, then open a Terminal shell on your phone
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
cd /system
mv build.prop new.build.prop
unzip /sdcard/froyo.zip
mv froyo.prop build.prop
rm /sdcard/froyo.zip
reboot
Upon booting back up, open Dialer and type in the following code
Code:
*#*#2432546#*#*
Once you see a notification in the notification bar that says checkin succeeded you can now open Market and are done.
Nice! Trying it now.
EDIT: Working great so far. Thanks!

Use one of the root file explorers to unzip the file, delete the old build.prop, put the new one in, and then type the command in the dialer
Works like a charm, thanks!
Worked great, THANK YOU!!!!!
I'm getting checkin failed. should I have renamed froyo.prop to build.prop?
edit: I'm able to see protected apps though.
So what happens when apps start getting udated to take advantage of JIT? If you have ERE27 signature do you get the JIT'less version of the apps? I know Replica Island is coming with a JIT version. I'm afraid to mess with anything right now, rather be patient and give it a few days.

If you inserted this line correctly, it renames and places the file in its directory as build.prop
adb push froyo.prop /system/build.prop

Apps don't have to be updated to take advantage of JIT at all. They can be optimized but they can be optimized without JIT too. There are no different versions. JIT just converts the Java/Dalvik code into native code at app launch, instead of running it through the slower virtual machine. Its like C++ vs Java on a desktop, the native code (C++) is much faster when executed.
The only thing this will lead to is when apps start showing up in the Market as 2.2+ only, but by that point Google will have updated the market to recognize the new footprint.
Can someone give an example of a "Protected" app? If its worth anything, im assuming its paid apps. If so, i can see them without a modded build.prop.

I think Twidroid Pro is protected.
What I'm wondering is, if somebody swaps out the build prop but hasn't installed flash yet, would this block them from doing so?

Nope, Flash still shows up in the Market top apps for me, but I already have it installed. Technically it probably should show up only on the 2.2 Market, but Google may not be able to filter that yet since they haven't enabled the 2.2 fingerprint yet. Just theories here, don't take anything I say too seriously
Also, a perfect example of protected apps is all the Gameloft apps. Search the Market for Gameloft. They won't show up on 2.2 without this, I tried multiple times

Hi i was just looking for some quick clarification if anyone is willing.
Boot into Clockwork Recovery. -DONE
Navigate to "mounts and storage". -DONE
Select "mount USB storage". -DONE
Copy /usr/src/tegratab/boot-custom-kernel.zip to the mounted filesystem. -HOW?
I tried adb push /usr/src/tegratab/boot-custom-kernel.zip /sdcard I dont believe it worked since nothing actually happened. I didnt even get my command line back. Im just waiting though, its been about 10 minutes though, I really dont think anything is happening. Actually it just finished, and now my tab is locked up. After I fix this I hope someone will be able to tell me how to properly install this. Also when I go into the android system then turn on usb storage device and try and drag and drop it says its going to take 3 hours?
I cant seem to figure out how to copy my file to "the mounted filesystem" I dont get a filesystem that I can drag and drop my zip into, I dont see or know of a command to do it through the terminal. So how can I accomplish this?
Thanks!

Need details--
Whose kernel is this? Is it for the gTab? Where was it compiled from (source)? Is it stable? Has it been tested? Why is the guy telling you to copy the zip file onto the internal SD via ClockworkMod when you can do it more easily by other means? Can I have a look at the contents of the zip file?
really? in order to install it you have to know all that? The zip file is over 1.5 gigs.. How do you propose I get it to you?

This is why I asked you for the details. A compiled kernel for the gTab, along with the most useful modules, plus the installer program, is about 3MB, max.
The complete Linux kernel source, uncompressed, is around 450MB. Compressed, it is ~100MB. A compressed 1.5GB file would therefore contain a heck of a lot more than just the kernel sources. What were you expecting to happen here? Ram a boat-load of source into the tablet and it should automatically compile and install everything for you?
Actually no... I followed a link and followed directions and I actually thought I was doing well till I saw the size of the file... Im actually going to work on recompiling the kernel again. It was a version of pershoots but I think the tutorial I was working off of is incorrect as are most of them on the net. Im learning but sadly not at the pace I would like, Im new to linux and android. Thank you all for the help so far. I'll post what ive done here in a lil bit and I was wondering if I would be able to get advice on how to install it... Ill even link the tutorial I follow. Here it is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916198
Now that Ive gone over it again its an issue in the zipping... For some reason my 28.7M file zips to 1.6gb WTF? Here is the command I used
From inside the file where the contents is to be zipped zip -r /usr/src/tegratab/boot-custom-kernel *
Yes evey time I zip it it comes out to 1.6 gigs. The system file is is pretty small but after its been ziped it actually takes most of the 1.6gb... Could I possible send the meta file, kernel file, and system file? Or maybe someone could tell me how to correctly do this? Ive followed the directions in that link and thought I was getting a legit output but I guess that im not even close.
GOOD NEWS EVERYBODY! I can save you 15% on car insurance...
Actually I was able to figure out what has happened... There were some symlinks that didnt get removed so it grabbed everything in that link and zipped it as well... after I fixed the issue it zipped correctly and I was even able to get it to install... Sadly the prolific driver for the 2303 is still not included even though it shows on the kernel menuconfig as being included, I guess Im going to try again and make it modular and see if I can get the driver file to install that way.. Ill let you know how it goes and also upload and link it if I can get it to work in case someone else wants to grab it and build off it. Im also planning on helping out the forums a little bit...
Thank you again.

Attach the .config (kernel configuration file) so I can look at it.
Does running dmesg on the new kernel show the driver loading/initializing?
Are the /dev/ttyUSB* device files present? Are the permissions for those serial devices correct? I'm not sure what they ought to be, but try making them read+write for all--at least while you are testing things: chmod 666 /dev/ttyUSB* as root.
Here is actually the zipped kernel file. When it compiles it does show the drivers being installed, I just cant get the device to recognize the Prolific cable. Ive tried including them, Ive tried modular, im not sure how to make it work, or if there is something im missing entirely. Thanks again.

The real test is the dmesg output, not whether the driver is being compiled in.
However, I think your problem is that you've compiled the wrong driver. What you need is the driver for "Prolific PL-2301/2302 based cables" which is included by enabling:
config USB_NET_PLUSB
which depends on
config USB_USBNET and
config EXPERIMENTAL
The module will be called plusb.ko, I think.
Sorry for being really uneducated on this. But I can not find any of thoes that you listed in the kernel. Also I cant even find the config file. I know where im targeting it from command line but if I try to move it it says file not found, and if I try and go there visually the file isnt there.
Id love to be able to upload what you want to see, and Id love to be able to add in the items you just suggested. But alas. neither seems possible.
Its honestly odd to me.. Ive been reading a couple different posts on the net that say you install this driver for the Prolific 2303. But not the PL2303.... So why is it included when it doesn't do what its supposed to do? Ive tried a lot of different methods and none of them work. It sucks cause I see people using it. Maybe Its not the kernel and its the android OS? I really have 0 clue at this point and about to just give my resignation at my employment.
The .config file will be present in the kernel's main directory (/usr/src/tegratab/gtab-2632/.config) if you have already built a kernel.
It looks like there are 2 drivers for Prolific hardware in the source tree. One is for host-to-host cables with Prolific chips (which is not enabled by default, and which, I think, is what you want), and the other for a Prolific USB serial port adapter (which is already enabled by default).
To build the module for the first, do a make menuconfig, then select:
Device Drivers > Network device support > USB Network Adapters > Prolific PL-2301/2302 based cables
However, you should verify what you have before you build the module. Do a "lsusb" then check the USB device IDs against the USB ID database in /var/lib/usbutils/usb.ids on a regular Linux machine.
Hints:
0. See pershoot's hints to another user here and further along in the same thread.
1. Make sure that you have downloaded the correct pershoot kernel: froyo or gingerbread.
2. You don't need to include all the modules in your kernel zip file. Just overwrite the kernel proper (zImage), the wireless driver (bcm4329.ko) and then add only the prolific driver module. Otherwise you're just wasting space on the /system partition.
3. Sign the zip file after creating it.
Thank you so much for the attempt.
But my .config file is not located where you have directed me. I checked there before, I could send you a screen shot showing you this.
Thank you for showing me where the driver for the cables where, I would not have checked network adapters looking for USB.... Alas, this has not solved my problem. The cable is still undetected by the OS. Although almost EVERY other usb is detected.
Im really not sure why this wont work. It installs 100% fine I have 0 issues on this, but the Prolific 2303 usb to serial cable will not show up in log cat or anything.. Although when i adb shell and do lsusb I see it and it has a device ID and everything.
Thank you again for the help..

It is created in the kernel's top-level directory (ie. the same directory as the file REPORTING-BUGS) after you do "make menuconfig".
If you still can't find it, do,
find /some/path/ -name .config
after you've finished "make menuconfig". Replace /some/path/ with your kernel source dir (or / to search everything that is mounted).

If the driver is built as a module then the kernel will recognize it only after you have loaded the module. Load the correct module first, either plusb.ko or pl2303.ko, depending on your hardware, then check for detection/initialization messages from the module by issuing a "dmesg" command immediately after the "insmod /some/path/driver.ko" command.

Still lacking details:
1. Did you download the correct kernel--Froyo/GB?
2. Are you sure you're running the new kernel after flashing the zip file?
3. Did you insmod the correct module?
4. What is the USB device ID shown?
5. Did you run dmesg--not logcat--after you insmod'ed the correct module? Can I see that dmesg output?
I can not find a .config file anywhere on this computer. it just does not exist.
Yes I am using a gingerbread version.
Insmod does not install anything for me. Although I installed the modules before even packaging the kernel. Ive verified this by checking in the the correct driver files once installed.
I dont remember the device Id exactly but its something similar to 067b:2303
I didnt run dmesg, honestly, this is way beyond me. I have absolutely no clue what im doing at all... I wasnt even hired for this job.. I was supposed to create an app that will use this specific cable on this specific device, although they did not give me the device able to use the cable... So now I have to figure out how to do this, and im just going to resign and tell them im not a hacker im a developer. Thank you very much for your effort but I am turning in my resignation here now at the end of the day. Thank you again and I'll give you thanks.
You had asked a while back if dev/ttyUSBx has shown, and I did get that to show last night. its dev/ttyUSB0 Ive tried to use a usb to serial api but the app couldn't open the serial port... Im guessing because android does not support that (since they dont really support anything) I personally dont even understand why these things sell... Does the app have permissions to read/write the device? Use the chmod command I gave in an earlier post to give permissions.
Next: once the actual hardware is connected to the Prolific cable, is data appearing on /dev/ttyUSB0? Run,
Code:
$ [B]hexdump -C /dev/ttyUSB0[/B]
to see if any data appears.
But, this depends on the device. Some devices need to be triggered, either electrically or by sending commands to the port, before they will send anything back. Other devices will spit data out as soon as power is applied to them.
Which kind is yours?
lsusb returns 067b:2303
My device needs to have data sent to it in order for it to start spitting out data. Otherwise there is nothing happening. It requires a 16bit hex "Start Command". So of course $ hexdump -C /dev/ttyUSB0 returns nothing.
I have the kernel I built here, as well as the gingerbread 2.3.4 rom i am using, and Ive also included the Gaps I needed to install into 2.3.4 to activate the USB feature. (why isnt that feature standard since its really the only difference for 2.3.3 and 2.3.4?

That's assuming that /dev/ttyUSB0 is the correct port, which may not be the case.
Right after the tablet has booted, load both the Prolific kernel modules (or only plusb.ko, if the other is built into the kernel--you still haven't sent me your .config file), attach the Prolific cable to the tablet, then attach the actual device to the cable, then run a
Code:

Couldnt do it. Lost the job. Thanks anyway.
Hello friends! I really hate the vibrator function (yes, I love a quiet phone) and I will be very happy if someone know a way to totally disable the vibrator (well, let me explain, I don't want to open the phone and disconnect it...)
Each app can be configured individualy to vibrate or not (I know) and sound options lets you configure the vibration when the phone rings, but is very annoying to do it for each application, even when you have a lot of apps (it's my case)
I was googling for a module, a build.prop line, delete a file... no sucess...
Do you guys know a way to totally disable vibration?
Regards and merry Xmas
Havent tried myself, but you could delete the vibrator module so the kernel doesnt load it.
The module is located on /lib/modules/vibrator.ko
You should make a backup else where (just in case) and try to power the phone with it deleted to see if it all loads correctly and the vibrator should be disabled.

Thanks for your reply, but unfortunatelly this doesn't work, I tried it and the module recreates itself when phone is restarted. I also tried to unload it with a init.d script, using the command rmmod -f vibrator, but no sucess...

Code:

insmod /lib/modules/vibrator.ko
Have you tried commenting that line?
The init.rc file is located on the root / of the phone.

Use the leaked ICS builds as they do not have proper kernel support for the vibrator
I'm trying to get together all the files I need to have a go at getting a DVB-T tuner working with the Tablet S - I have all the DVB-T modules, but for a lower kernel revision, and from what I've read they probably wont work with this kernel.
I'm really not looking forward to compiling these myself as I use Windows 7 and am aware that there are issues with compiling Linux on a Windows system and being new to Android/Linux cross compiling I could cause myself more problems than I solve.
So the question is, has anyone got info on a repository for these modules compiled for ICS at our kernel revision?
Have you seen this?

Hi Kulen,
Thanks, I'll fix that link. The files i uploaded are just more compiled kernel modules, you'll need to use the tar -xvzf flag to unzip them as it was a bigger tar file than xda would allow. They're compiled from the kernel sources available from Sony...I don't have the link to the sources at the moment, but if you search the forums you'll be able to find it. The modules are loaded with insmod, the same way as before, yes. I have no idea how one would go about putting these to use but it seems like in addition to the kernel module you'll need a driver and perhaps more kernel modules for an ARM architecture that will work with the 2.6.39.4 kernel version. Looking at the avermedia's website, the support they give is for an x86 architecture so you may be out of luck unless somebody can help you out over here:
linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/AVerMedia_A828
Have you ever gotten this usb tuner to work with a real linux box?
Good luck,

Well, thank you.
You are really fast and willing to help.
I did make this tuner work with linux mint on x86. Actually my friend Google did it mostly, so I'm not sure what I did any more. It was a long time before and I'm not very familiar with linux.
This is what Avermedia site says for both x86 and x64 driver:
"The following distributions, with their stock kernel, are officially tested and supported:
1. Open SuSE Linux 10.3
2. Mandriva Linux 2008
3. Fedora Core Release 6
4. Fedora Core Release 7
5. Ubuntu 7.10
6. Ubuntu 8.10
7. Ubuntu 9.04
8. Ubuntu 9.10
9. Mandriva Linux 2009
Sent from my Sony Tablet S using xda app-developers app"
I guess I should find some generic ARM driver that works with my tuner?
Is there a way to batch insmod (all at once) all this modules? something like insmod *.ko?
Do I need all those modules? How do I find that out?
Hi there,
You're welcome, I'm happy to help.
In order to load all modules within a directory (and its respective sub-directories), try:
Code:

I'm not sure what kernel modules you'll need, but I would look at the #include files in the driver and/or ask the people over in the forum that you listed who work on these tuners specifically. Perhaps some people from the arm-based rasperry pi community might be working on this type of thing too.
Good luck,

Thanks for answer, again!
I already solved problem "insmoding" them all at once by making a script for them all as you showed me in your kernel modules thread.
At first it seems not all of them are insmoded. "no such file or directory" error. But at second script run it seems they are insmoded. I guess they are dependent on each other and need to be insmoded at right order? I also guess "file exists" means it's already insmoded?
Some of them return "exec format error" which, Google suggests, mean they are not for ARM?
anyhow nothing happens when I plug in my tuner.
I'll have to do a research starting where you sugessted but I'm setting my expectations low.
Terminal transcript of running script 3 times is in attachment. (I'll upload it later, can't do it from xda app - DONE)

Hey there,
maybe we can get DVB-T-Sticks working on Tablet S. Some devs got the "WinTV Nova-T"-stick working on Odys Loox. Kernel modules they used were:
dib0070.ko
dib3000.ko
dib7000m.ko
dib7000p.ko
dib8000.ko
dibx000_common.ko
dvb-core.ko
dvb-usb.ko
dvb-usb-dib0700.ko
If abactor can provide us these files we're maybe able to get it working. But I don't know if other sticks are working, too.

some of them have dependencies and others may not be compatible with our hardware even if we can build them. all of the modules are built in the same way but there may be issues due to some modules being built-in to the kernel - I don't know how those sorts of conflicts are resolved. another way to go would be to build the whole kernel again.
I would keep loading the modules until the output from insmod stops changing as you've done...or look up the dependency tree and load them in order. your way is easier.

I finally managed to get the dvb-usb.ko built with some manual editing. I'm going to post them to the other thread with all the other kernel modules. The link is posted above. let me know if this does or does not work for you guys.
If you guys are having trouble loading the dvb-usb.ko module, it may be contained within the dvb-core.ko module it seems...

Hi Kulen,
I managed to get my dongle working in Ubuntu with the correct kernel revision after a lot of hair pulling - when i tried to cross compile the modules for ARM, the compiler crashed and trashed my Linux installation, after trying for days to restore my system, i had to resort to a re-install and have not attempted anything since.
I got all my info here :-
http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
Sorry I can not be more helpful, but I see a lot of guys on here chipping in with very useful information - hopefully you'll succeed where I failed.
PS - I might just get back into this again.
I can't say thanks enough for all help I got here.
@abactor_xda
I tried all modules you posted. since some of them are in both archives I tried first those from one archive, then from another. I extracted all and then I copied ones and other over them, and then the other way. I wanted to be sure they all are there. And then I used commands you taught me. I insmoded them 5-6 times to be sure, but some modules were not insmoded. some with that exec error and some with no file error.
and nothing happened in any case.
but here we come to another problem. I'm not sure how to check it. I use Droid TV app and it says:
" Sorry, no device found or device acces denied. This application NEEDS a working DVB device, plugged into your Android device and set up with drivers, firmware and correct permissions. Make sure that these prerequirements are met and try again."
I also get some massage from android system that connected USB device is unsupported or unreckognized or something like that.
any idea how could I see which modules are/are not activated when I plug DVB tuner?
and thanks for your help again.
@praed0r
which DVB tuner do you have?
compiling and all the other programming stuff is, unfortunately, way too much for me, so I have to rely to help from good people.
Hey Kulen,
I'm sorry to hear that didn't work. Though I had a feeling that would be the case as I also had issues trying to load those modules.
I have a feeling the modules need to be adapted somewhat before being compiled or a special driver written.
Otherwise run "dmesg" from the terminal after you plug in the device. Maybe this info would be useful to someone who knows about this stuff (unfortunately that's not me
If you do find out how to adapt these modules, I can try to compile them.

well thanks again.
I can make dmesg by help of google. but that's about maximum of my developing competence.
I guess I have to give up on this, unless some "good soul" shows up here and give us a solution.
I will post dmesg in cca. 10 days, cause I don't have tablet with me now and wait...
it'll be a pity if all abactor_xda's unselfish work was for nothing
"Blobs" are the files specific to each device that we need in order to compile custom ROMS that work on our device. The process of finding them is tedious and slow... I have been picking away at them for months when I have time. There are over 600 files so far! But there are also references to files that are not being found. They are either missing, or they are not located where they are expected to be located. This is where I need help.
So, if you want to help, go HERE:
https://github.com/mightysween/android_vendor_motorola_payton
and look through the proprietary-files.txt file for anywhere that it says "warning".... and then search inside of the firmware (working on 8.0+ now, not 7.1 please) and try to track down the file that it says is missing [obviously, you will need a system dump, or to search on a rooted device]. If you find it, please post below like this:
LINE NUMBER OF THE WARNING (from github)
PATH TO THE MISSING FILE (relative to /system... in other words, don't inlude your own local path)
Once this file is complete, we can use it to automatically pull the correct vendor files into our build environments... having a working recovery, active kernel developement and completed vendor blobs should open us up to more development efforts.
Also, if anyone has done any testing and knows of other proproetary files that are needed, please post them here so I can include them.
My time at the computer to work on this is really limited, so I have only identified a dozen or so daemons that definitely call for proprietary libs... I am sure there are more
I would love to pitch in on this but have zero experience with anything related to development. Do you think I could still be of help? Sounds like a basic enough task that it wouldn't be too difficult. Let me check and see that I understand the process.
Went to github and looked at proprietary-files.txt. The first warning I found was in line 49: "blob file libpn553_fw.so missing or broken". Then searched for that file in my device's system folder using ES File Explorer with Root Explorer enabled.
So is this what you're looking for?
49
/system/vendor/firmware/libpn553_fw.so

I'd like to contribute in some way but if this is best not left to a complete noob then I totally understand

If you have root on the system you can find the files for, you should be able to find any given filename with:
find / -name "filename" -print
And it should output any filenames that match. I don't have time at the moment to dig into this any more, but would this resolve much of it?

Any way that works is fine by me
I am on the road a lot and just don't have enough time to sit and work on it... so it is taking months. I bet a few people helping could finish it in a matter of hours.
I am hoping to have a few hours next week to work on it. But the sooner this is done, the sooner I can shift to trying to compile Lineage OS with working hardware.
BTW, Lineage *does* compile if I comment out all the stuff causing make errors... not much works, obviously.
The next step will be compiling with these blobs, then logging all the new errors and chasing down all the additional broken symlinks... and then adapting the kernel as needed.
Then, MAYBE we can get a base Lineage tree up and open up the X4 to building for other roms. I know someone started a skeleton tree for Carbon already on Github... they are likely just waiting for the completed device tree, too.

I don't own this device yet, but I was thinking of getting one. I figured this might help you all out (you'll need to be running linux):
First, let's get a list of all the files on the phone, to make searching faster.
Code:
adb shell
su
find / > /sdcard/allfiles.txt
exit
exit
adb pull /sdcard/allfiles.txt
Now you should have allfiles.txt on your machine. Also grab the proprietary-files.txt, and then run this:
Code:
grep -Po '(?<=(blob file )).*(?= missing or broken)' proprietary-files.txt | xargs -I @ grep "@" allfiles.txt
That should find the paths of all the missing files (except the ones marked "wildcard")

Thanks, I had recently completed this, but your code worked fantastic for double checking, and actually helped me find one that I had missed :good:
Now, on to identifying any more daemons that need proprietary files... and then assembling the tree itself... PROGRESS!
PHASE 1 is complete!

I am 99% sure that this is only ~75% of what will be needed to actually build LOS15. But it is a good foundation to work off of now.
My plan is to start attempting to compile LOS and take error logs to chase down the remaning missing stuff. LOTS to be done still to get to that point...hoping for some other builders/devs to materialize here and help out
Hi! Just a question: it´s mandatory to use A/B partition scheme to build a custom ROM for this device or it will be possible to use a traditional partition scheme and free up some GBs of internal storage for use?

It would seem that we will still be stuck with A/B, as the bootloader does the initial check of the active slot. Perhaps there may be some clever ways around this in the future...but nothing I will be tackling.

You would probably need a custom kernel to do it properly. The bootloader passes a kernel param (androidboot.ro.boot.slot_suffix) specifying which slot to use. In the absense of a kernel param, the value is read from the ro.boot.slot_suffix build property.
That being said, you might be able to just repartition your device to only have 1 slot, flash your ROM, and use
Code:
fastboot --set-active=_a
. If your ROM has disabled OTA updates from the OEM, you should be fine.

@vache at the Moto G5 Plus forums has already managed it using the /oem partition which is otherwise unused for custom ROMs

The more I am reading about enabling Treble, the more I think it is entirely possible.... and probably the best direction to focus our efforts.
Seems like we have partitions that could be used as /vendor. I am reading up on exactly how the Treble vendor partition is set up. Tricky, but not implausible.
EDIT: Actually, none of the partitions we could potentially re-purpose for /vendor are big enough. So, it may be harder on this device than on others. It may require repartitioning.
