the 3000mAh extended battery for the Hermes costs about US$105 here in Tokyo - should i get it?
i know that it is quite bulky, but in your experience, is the regular battery that comes with the Hermes enough to get through a heavy day?
Don't be lazy and search before you post.

€25,-?!?
The 3000mAh one cost me $69 at LionBattery IIRC. And I'd rather buy from them than from a suspiciously low-pricing vendor on eBay... I'm not risking my TyTN nor my €25,- with such a vendor

thanks for the info... but id rather trust my device (and money) on reputable stores rather than eBay... as they say, "you get what you pay for..."
no offense, though...

I just got this battery from Lionbattery and it is emazing. I use to get about 15 hrs with standard batter. With this one I get 48 hrs, it is really worth it for me. I only had the battery for 3 days thus far.
i just got the extended battery - and am in the process of charging it now...
well, as what most people said - the back cover that came with the battery doesnt fit snugly into the unit. there is a outcrop on the seams (much like a bulge if you were too tight a pants)...
question, though - it says on the label that i should initially charge and discharge it between 3 to 5 fives to maintain the noted capacity... what does it mean? that i cannot use it until ive gone through 3 cycles?
also - how does one full discharge the device? i mean, doesnt the device turn off automatically after some set of seconds? how can i keep it ON the entire time?
thanks in advanced!!!
I bought a 2800 one off ebay came with charger, and car charger for $30 last week.

The whole "Lithium batteries has no memory" thing is really a myth. All batteries have a memory. The Lithiums are just way, way better at forming a false memory than Ni-Cads or even Nmh batteries. The lithiums are so good, in fact, that you can treat them as if they have no memory.
Anyway, to train the battery intially, put it through 3-5 full charge/discharge cycles. I do it with normal usage. Charge it till it is full and then use it until it shuts off. Repeat. The hard part (at least for me) is not plugging it into a USB for syncing or for modding the thing... cause that'll charge it, and you don't want to apply any charge (if possible) for those first 3-5 cycles. When I get the first battery alarm, I'll back the phone up just incase, then keep going.
Also, I've heard it was important that once you start charging it, you don't stop until it is fully charged again. ie, don't unplug it from the wall to make a call... go over to the wall and make the call while it is plugged in.
There is a site that we highly recommend for information about batteries. The site is www.batteryuniversity.com.
They also have detailed information on how to prolong the life of your Li-Ion battery HERE.
If you're up to doing some reading, you'll find the information very useful.

Lion Battery
Li-Ion's do not have memory. They have a drastic drop once they go under a certain point of discharge.
I have the 2800 mAh, it works great and after a full day of use I have about 40% battery life.
-2 hrs on phone
-40 emails
-random web browsing
-Turn 3G and WiFi off when not used.
So you can see from the stock 1300 mAh which would last me about 9 hrs this is a HUGE step in the right direction.
Mine was on ebay for 30 bones with car charger, and Wall charger.
Don't buy on eBay, at least not from lifestyle0806
Last year I ordered 2 extra batteries for my Nokia E61 from that guy.
The two batteries were wrapped by a fake nokia sticker. When I removed the sticker, I found inside the REAL size of the battery. It was a small 850mAH battery inside a plastic frame with a sticker claiming it was 1350mAH
So on eBay you'll find 2800mAH or 3000!!!... for only 20$ or something... but they are totally fake.
Or at least, they'll SUCK big time
I still used those two fake batteries, and one of them randomly shuts down my phone even if it's still full. The other one will drop to 1 bar of battery, then spike back up.. then drop.

Mark,
Great information and I am glad to hear that I don't need to cylce through charge and discharge in order to get good performance out of the battery. I have cycled my new battery twice but I am not going to do it anymore. According to the information from above site, the battery last longer on partial charge.
Thanks

Seidio 3200 MAH, It Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!
i just ordered one off ebay
I bought a 2800 mah battery for my 8525 off ebay from a cheap vendor and i admit it did give me more power but on closer inspection when i cracked the pack open it was two 1100mah wired together. I know this because they were stamped with 1100mah lol. Im still using it until this day but you truely get what you pay for. I would take the advice and buy from a reputable vendor or.... take my knowledge if you want a 2200 mah battery for 15-20 bucks.
I got an extended battery 2850mah from ebay. Initially it is no better than the regular battery. Then after a few cycles (5X) when I check my SPB battery meter which indicates the approx run time in hours it comes to 10 hours +! with the regular battery it only goes 3-4 hours. In terms of percent it stays at 100% longer.

Sorry to have to say but in this paragraph, you contradict yourself, first you say they dont have a memory and call it a myth, then you say they do.
In fact they dont have any memory effect, its better to charge them whenever rather than let them drain completely..

rant over
I bought a 2800 from 360wireless on ebay and have had it for almost a month. It certainly has doubled my usage, so with random surfing on 3G/HSDPA (roughly an hour or so of solid surfing), a keepalive connection on my IM program (on E/G for battery purposes), screen dimming after 30 seconds, and about 10 emails a day and 50-100 chat messages, I'm at about 50% at the end of my day.
I'm good with that. I don't need to open it and inspect it. If it's 2 batteries put together, as long as it does the job, I'm good.
Hi, Bin looking at some of the mobile solar panels you can get for charging your phone on the go. Some seem quiet practical and strap onto backpacks etc.
Anyone have any experience with these? Do they work? How do they fare with our power hungry HD's?
I have Powermonkey eXplorer and it is so usefull! I had it with me on my trip to Bulgaria and for week I didnt have to use wall charger for my ipod nor Touch Diamond.
It requires lots of sun to charge from empty to full but it is very good if for example leaving on car hood (inside) to charge battery.
For straight solar panel -> phone or other device it is good for retaining or slowly charging device. When I was on beach I listened music almost all the time and it solar panel kept battery full always.
Remember, solar panel needs sun! Here Finland it is pretty useless except now that summer comes.
Bought mine from inkino.co.uk for 45£ and always keeping it with me when going little farther from wallchargers.
I have one as well. If your battery is near empty it will recharge to about 25% before draining completely, still enough to get you out of an emergency. You should know that it takes about 10 hours to charge using the solar cells but you can use a notebook USB port to charge it in about an hour. I would say definitely a useful device, I use it mostly if watching movies on my HD.
Thanks Guys, Are there any that will fully recharge the battery from dead?
I've seen some that come with a 1000mAh and you can get replacement batteries for bout £10.
Rekon its worth gettin one with a few batteries n charging each o them? I'm planning a trip where I'm not going to be able to charge the phone during the day, so charging a secondary battery would be useful.
If you dont mind messing with a soldering iron, you might want to try this out.
Not sure if it'll work on our baby, but it looks interesting and fun.

At least its cheap 8O)
Vey Nice! Maybe as a summer project just to see how well it works. Might try it out on my old wizard 1st
In the meantime! any1 else had any experience with the commercial ones? I'm worried they wont have enough clout to charge a touch HD
I've got the Power Monkey solar charger mentioned above but it only discharges my battery. I have never seen it recharge as it should. Probably not powerful enough.
How about the onion trick? Will be interested if that one works

Even managed to charge two phones at once!

Hi,
Here is some information on free loader charger.
Free Loader charger absorbs the suns energy quickly and can store it as electrical charge for up to three months.
The Free Loader is 120mm long when fully extended, and 17mm thick, made of smooth aluminium. The solar panels slide out when you want to charge it, and can alternatively be charged via USB if the sun hasn’t got his hat on. Then you add on one of the various included adaptors, connect it up to your chosen device and voila- extra juice! It can run a phone for 44 hours, an iPod for 18 hours and a PSP for 2.5 hours. Apparently.
I've tried the Soldius1 and Solio units.
The Soldius1 is a foldable panel with no battery. That means it's a power source only in direct sunlight., so you'd have to carry them around or leave your HD where you leave the chargers.
Unfortunately, one of them wasn't strong enough to actually charge the HD. External power is detected, and the HD wil indicate that it's charging, but any power it thinks it has will appear to be drained in a couple of minutes, so it's just some voltage thing it measured rather than actual charge!
They're relatively cheap however, so i just bought two of them and made myself a cable that connects the two Soldius units in parallel, and this time it actually worked pretty well I put the HD nice and cool in the shade and put the two Soldius1 units in the sun with a USB extension cable, and they were able to charge the HD up to half its capacity in about 2 to 3 hours. Only thing is you'd have to get two of them and make your own cable like i did.
So even though this works, i didn't like the hassle with the working but poorly built cable, so i bought a Solio Classic as well. This is a collapsible charger that has three rotating blades that can form a flowerlike shape when unfolded. This one does have a battery pack, so if you charge it before you go it's even useful if you don't see a single ray of sun In addition, you can leave your Solio out in the sun while you run around with your HD and charge it overnight at the end of the day, since the Solio has been gathering its charge on its own.
It turns out that the Solio can charge the HD up to full capacity if the Solio was fully charged itself. However, i wasn't able to charge the Solio for more than half of its capacity during the day. I left it unattended, so there may have been shadows and clouds, and i only did this for two days (i drained its charge into the HD each time, so it started out empty both times). Then again, they weren't particularly sunny days, so you might get more out them.
In any case, if you live somewhere where there is a lot of sun you can do with the Soldius method if you don't mind fiddling with wires and cables. If you want a more compact unit and want the added advantage of having a backup battery pack, go with the Solio.

Ok, I will be the 1st to ask.. I found this on Amazon and it saids its for AT&T SGS2... not sure about this brand and wonder if anyone have any comments on this.. Is it too good to be true?
if it's 2000mah with standard size battery, then it's probably not true. can't trust the sticker on the battery. if it's larger physical size battery, with new backing, then it's most likely better than the oem battery (due to larger cell size).
Ok, I will be the guinea pig on this one. I purchased it and will let you guys know...
$19 including shipping... damn cheap, i am not expecting much..
I just hope its around the OEM battery and I will be happy.

I'll sell you a 2500mah battery that's the same size, and will sell it to you for half. Don't rub too hard tho, the "2500" is written in sharpie, hehe
Battery technology isn't rocket science. Size = Capacity 99% of the time. You might be able to squeeze out 2-5% in a form factor, but any claims of more are generally smoke and mirrors.

Thanks for testing this out bud.
initial impression...
I got the package this morning and it was in shipped in a plastic mail bag. Inside was the 3 batteries and the charger each having a white generic box sticker-ed with its model and serial. Inside, each was additionally wrapped with clear plastic.
The batteries feels good and solid. The wrapping was as pictured in its black skin with a generic label stating...
Replacement for Samsung Galaxy S2
3.7VDC-2000mAh
Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery
Read Instructions in operating guide before using the battery.
[some warnings and icons]
Made in China
I did not receive any instructions on the charger nor for the batteries.
The batteries fits into my ATT SGS2 perfectly and I did not need to replace the back cover nor was there any gaps after replacing the cover with this batter into the phone.
The charger is smaller than a pack of cigarette which measures about 2inx3.1inx1.1in. When charging, the bottom of the charger has this bright PINK light on that turns to BLUE when charging is completed.
It took about 3 hours to finish charging the 1st battery and I popped it into my phone. Now, the test is to see if I can charge the battery with the new battery.
NOPE! The phone instantaneously cycle reboots with the phone charger's microUSB plug into the phone when attached to the AC outlet. I unplugged the phone charger and it was fine.
Using *#*#INFO#*#*
I compare the specs of the OEM battery vs the new GtMAX batteries..
Original:
Battery Voltage: ~3907 mV
Battery temperature: 31-34 C
new gtMax battery
Battery Voltage: ~3817-4075 mV
Battery temperature: 27-34 C
The numbers sway a lot with the new battery but does not seem to affect the phone so far as I have been using it and it seems fine.
1st use battery life:
10h 20m on battery
AOS 49%
Display 29%
Cell Standby 6%
Market 5%
Phone Idle 5%
Email 3%
Android System 3%
Android core apps 2%
Time on 43m 14s
66% battery left
I have yet to test these scenarios:
1) long term battery test (maybe it gets better after a few charges)
2) plug into Laptop USB port for charging / data transfer
3) charging OEM battery with new charger
10 hours and 33% used isn't too shabby.

Does anyone know if the boot loops are only with our version? I haven't seen them mentioned in the international version forum. Is it an issue of using non-NFC batteries?
update: These batteries definitely do not last as long as the OEM battery. I had to switch out 2 yesterday each lasting about 1/2 day. I guess thats why it comes with 3 of them.
After 1.5 hours of screen time, the battery is about 20% (within 1/2 day)

Thanks for the review. I wish there were more stringent control\standards in the battery marketing field. It's so annoying how they can so easily claim to hold 20% more and consumers not know until they get the battery that the claim is false.
Can you imagine Toyota telling you your gas tank holds 15 gallons then getting the car to the gas station for a fillup and finding out it only holds 10 gallons? LOL
Thanks for the heads up for everyone. I think you saved many of us lots of time and anxiety waiting only to be disappointed.
Good Catch
Thanks, I was considering buying a few of these since they were cheap, but didn't after seeing this. You guys are right, after browsing through a bunch of forums, I've noticed that when the batteries are the same size as stock battery, "higher" capacity, and cheaper, they are almost always a ripoff. Thanks again for the clear, concise info on the batteries.

I got this as well and it's on its way. I hope to simply rotate them well enough that I get good longevity between the three (the two from this purchase and the OEM one).
i also got them they seem to work just fine
I trust that these batteries will work just as well as the OEM one...in terms of both battery life and overall longevity. Based mostly on the fact it's a US based company.
Unlike those HK ones...that sell for cheaper...but they're lucky to even hold a normal charge for like 3 months. Basically, we get what we pay for...more often than not.
I just ordered this off of Amazon. I figured for the low price it was worth the risk.
I've had them since Note Day #1 (2/17) and they are def worth the money. I just can't say how long they hold a charge, since I haven't kept track yet. My guess is that they don't last quite as long as an oem batt. But they don't seem horrendous and 2 batts and a charger to your door for about $30 is hard to not be happy with.

I had an issue with mine today...
Left a battery on the charger overnight and got up and the light showing it was still charging the next morning....Tried another battery and over 4 hours later, the same thing happened...Put another battery in there, and within an hour (battery wasn't empty), it turned blue letting me know charge was complete (and phone showed 100%).
Got another one in there now and it's been there for about 2 hours, and the light shows it's still charging.
Is there a charger out there that has a display so you can tell what's going on??

That charger charges at 550MA(MAX). That should take 5.37 hours at best. Still a far cry from the 1000mA that the stock charger uses.

consider the fact that you should not drain a bettery beyond 25% or you will shorten the life of it because the work to hard and overheat beyond that so your talking about 75% of 5.37 hours = 4.0275 hours and i dont think thats a big issue unless your battery doesnt make it 4 hours and trickle charge is better on a battery??

I was under the impression (maybe mistakenly!!) that for the first few charge cycles of a battery, you wanted to fully discharge and charge it...then after that...you can you can go back to the 75% rule.
At least that's the way it is with Lithium Poly Batteries.
Am I wrong?
Please Help
I guess this thread is dead?
It would be nice to get an update from those who bought these batteries 8, 10 or 12 months ago... to see how they held up.
I've been researching Hyperion and I've found quite mixed reviews... Several places I found photos (obviously can't be truly verified) of Hyperion batteries with the labels peeled back to reveal the metal shells which appeared to be stamped/marked (presumably by the ORIGINAL manufacturer) with different product ID codes, serial #s, as well as significantly lower mAh ratings than Hyperion's outer sticker.
I'm curious if any of those who started this thread still have their batteries... How have they held up? Are they still good?
Does anyone still have one of these batteries that they're no longer using? Would you be willing to try stripping back the label to check to see what you find under it...
I do believe that there probably are some companies that actually do make good, less expensive alternatives. But the scammers need to be exposed...
I've searched amazon and the bad ratings of claimed exact replacments are full of counterfeits. Ebay, forget about it. I've considered ordering from sprint but they want $50 for a battery and external charger that God knows who it was rebadged from. I've also considered anker. Some people love them and some say they see the performance taking a steep dive in less than a year. Many say the anker external charger is crap and falls apart quickly. I don't know if the phone or the Samsung external charger would beotch that the battery isn't official and refuse to charge it. I've seen this many times with both the phone and charger, when the hardware was definitely oem.
I have 3 "oem" batteries and 2 "oem" chargers. I write on the battery, the number in which I put it into service. So far, the battery that came with the phone lasts longer than the second. The 2nd is showing signs of buldging and erratic charging levels. After playing games for an hour and a half, it is saying I have 20 something percent. After a reboot, the number jumps to 70ish. My third and newest battery lasts the longest.
Any suggestions?

I recommend sprint or Samsung itself. It's just not worth a counterfeit that can damage your phone and won't hold a charge.
I had 3 batteries for my note 3. 2 from sprint one from Amazon. The Amazon started loosing charging function about 3 months into it. It was the same vendor that I had purchased my prior Samsung batteries from.
I got it because sprint stopped having them in Stock at a store and the eta was 3 weeks.
