So I was trying to transfer some pictures from my phone to my computer but in the middle of the transfer I got the following error "unfortunately mtp application stopped" on my phone. How can I fix the problem?
Plug your cable into a different port, use a different cable, trouble shoot your phone while connected to your computer. Never seen that error.
I Google the problem and a lot of people have the problem but couldn't find a good solution instead of factory reset which I don't want to do.

Looks like your problem is a little different since you were able to connect and start transferring. I would still try the things I mentioned.
I did try the other things you mentioned but still same problem. I tired USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 cable on different USB ports. It is weird that the transfer progress goes then gives me a error at the end also I did transfer files in the past but this problem just started just today when I tried. I have a alternative way to transfer files via wifi file transfer but just want to know why and how the problem started.
Sent from my SM-N900P using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I also faced this problem on my new Note 10.1 2014 edition SP-P601,
I unable to copy downloaded video file which was having file & folder name more than 50 characters. I simply reduced & renamed that file & folder...
Bingo..problem solved !!!
but do reinstall & update MTP drivers for safe side.

so i'm trying to upload videos to my computer and came across dropbox. I tried it out but was unsuccessful. videos will not upload from my phone onto the app.
what are other ways of uploading videos from the vibrant to a computer ?
USB cable?
Sent from THE Vibrant......
I use dropbox and awesomedrop from http://labs.dashwire.com/drop/android and they work without a hitch.
Dropbox really is a great way to transfer files between multiple devices including you phone, but since it does have to sync with the cloud it is not as fast as a direct connection. Sometimes you just have to be patient, movies are large.
As always, if you need to sign up for a Dropbox account you should always use this this link --> https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTEyNTA5OTQzOQ?src=global0 <--

So I just tried out AwesomeDrop and it only lets you drop files from the computer onto your phone.
I need to do the opposite. Video from phone to computer.
I tried the usb route but I cannot seem to find video files on the folder that pops up on the computer screen. Maybe it's cause I cannot seem to find a way to choose mass store from my vibrant.
When I pop in the usb cable to the phone from laptop I get no pop up menu asking to choose mass storage on the phone ......

My USB setting was on MassStorage. SO I now have no clue what to do . I'm trying upload a video to youtube from my phone and cannot figure out how.
Man ! I thought this was going to be easy ...
I tried uploading a video str8 from my phone using the share>youtube>upload but I guess my video is too long for that to work.
Video is about 7mins long.
You may have a USB interconnectivity issue. I have noticed intermittent issues myself with various ROMs. Try rebooting the phone.

Are you on WiFi? I don't have any vids longer than a few minutes, but the ones I had I was able to upload via share from gallery. HD quality vids required me to be on WiFi though.

As far as ROMS goes I will soon be rooting my phone for the first time and will be trying out new ROMS ... Can't wait.
So yeah, I give up trying in hope to get some decent help here.
I am not able to connect my SGS3 to any of my 2 PC's or my notebook.
I have tried everything as far as I know (on all 3 systems):
(Re)installed KIES
(Re)connected my SGS3
Rebooted the computers
Rebooted the phone
Did a factory reset
Used the SGS3 toolkit
Tried different USB slot
I even bought a new USB cable just to be sure :s
When I plug it in it starts charging and that's it.
Windows doesn't even give the confirmation sound when any random USB device is connected.
I don't see my SGS3 anywhere on my computer (not in device manager, nowhere).
I reinstalled KIES several times and installed the drivers through the SGS3 toolkit.
I own the international SGS3 with stock rom (haven't been able to update at all because of the connection issue).
I do not know what to do anymore.
Please help oh wise XDA gurus !
I would try a return to supplier and get them to prove its not hardware

Probably a broken registry on your computer try fixing it using advanced system care (it's free) afterwards try reconnecting it again. If that doesn't work try to go to samsung's support section and see what you can find to resolve your issue.
I tried it on my PC at work, same problem.
Registry issue on 4 different machines?
I think not.
Also:
I got connectivity for a moment on both my PC and notebook but it went away within seconds.
The phone gave the notification that it is connected as a mass storage device.
Then the message disappeared and it only charged and nothing else.
Playing with the cable it came back and off a few times.
Now it stays disconnected.
Seems like the connector in my phone is dead :s?
Open Terminal Emulator
type SU
then type this.....
setprop persist.sys.usb.config mass_storage adb

Check the connector on your S3. The PC's maybe fine, but something is shorting pin 2 & 3 thereby nullifying the data pins.Hence it is being detected as a charger.(Actually that is the difference between a charger connection and a PC connection).Thereis a thread on XDA about cleaning it with a toothpick. Takes a few minutes actually.
you may consider on cleaning your phone's usb port
in addition, there is an app in the market (for free) that enables/disables usb mass storage (that's how i used to fix my usb problems; i honestly dunno why)
also, if u have tried different roms (stock/kernel), it may be a hw problem.

I thought I had connector problems myself sometime ago, but as Dr Danish said, I un installed the samsung drivers which are different from un installing kies. Restart pc and connect phone, make sure you have Internet, and windows will auto install them again.

if this is happening on multiple machines then its more likely to be the phone, did it happen after a flash phone reboot?. It happened to me on my old galaxy S2 after flashing a corrupt MIUI ROM.
Flash back to FULL stock should resolve, if not then your phone is in a state you can return it in, if you haven't had it long they may do a straight swapout.
It is the only thing that worked for me. It tells the phone to inquire about mtp/mass storage everytime it is connected

Does that mean you solved this with a flash back to Stock as I advised?, although sgs3 doesn't use mass storage, if you are on stock you wouldn't get these messages unless you had rooted and installed EASUMS. When you plug it in it should just say on your phone "connected as media device" and it will connect to your PC using MTP. All you need for MTP to work is the correct drivers, Kies install will provide these if you havent found them elsewhere.
Where are you at now then?
Just got my dna... Never had issues with just connecting it to the computer and being able to access the storage. I can't seem to drag and drop onto this phone. Do I need htc sync installed for that to work? Can't start root process until I figure it out. Thanks.
Nothing is stupid but reading helps
Yes you need htc sync or android MTP drivers installed then it will show up as a drive when connected
Ya the MTP install keeps failing. Just Google for those drivers?
I installed the HTC drivers found in the all in one kit thread, but still failing...
I'll try htc sync. Sorry... Long day and annoyed haha
Maybe its write protected? I have issue when i want to drop files on sd but it didnt work and i jusj realzed that the paste and delete command is missing.
Or just turn off the mtp mode. Cmiiw

I'm trying to just copy over a simple text file... Only thing that shows up looks like a camera. Opened it to see my folders on internal memory. But won't let me drag over. Now doesn't show up at all. Installed sync, no luck. MTP just fails installing.
I am having zero luck...
Could it be something that I have on the computer from previous HTC phones? I've had the Inc, TB and Rez...
MTP fails every time... Can't just access storage. Installed HTC drivers from all in one root thread, installed sync... Nothing. I'm confused...
FWIW I am turning debugging off, yet as soon as I plug it in to the computer it's turning on automatically...
I've checked in cmd "adb devices" and its showing the device there.
Just checked and my rezound still connects no problem... No luck with DNA
Here is where I'm at with it...
On a separate computer, I had no issues getting everything the computer to recognize the phone and allow me to drag and drop onto it.
On the computer with issues (mine), I have all drivers installed. I can give the phone ADB commands and they work. I can reboot into bootloader and all that jazz. What I can't do tho is just access the storage. When I plug it in my computer is recognizing it as a camera. A prompt for scanner and camera wizard will pop up and if I go into My Computer it shows the phone, with a camera as the icon. I can double click it, and see all the folders and files that are on the phone. If I try to drag and drop a picture, music file or even a text file, the mouse icon changes to a circle with a line through it (no smoking sign type thing).
Only other issue with plugging it in is the MTP install keeps failing. Is that an SDK related issue? I may have an older SDK, but I think it is at least ICS related. Or is it something else altogether. The error states something is missing from the INF file or wrong with the INF file. Can't remember exactly.
I got the phone rooted and what not, I'm just trying to be able to put a few music and picture files on it at this point.
Any help I would greatly appreciate. Thank you.
This is a long shot but what USB cable are you using? Is it OEM or just one laying around? Did you try another cable?
You need to go at the MTP install failure from a Windows troubleshooting perspective instead of the HTC or android perspective.
I had this problem for a long time on my computer which was a VERY nice rig besides that issue. So finally when I got a device that needed MTP, I spent about 15 minutes on Google, made some changes in device manager and the registry, and fixed the problem completely.

Thanks, this solves it!
1. I have been unable to connect it to my PC for a while, I tried downloading and installing the Samsung USB drivers, and connecting with the white USB cable it came with but it always says Device Failed to install properly, and my Device Manager says Unknown Device. I've resorted to using AirDroid to download my pictures and videos which takes a little while and is annoying.
2. Tumblr app: my login does not work, after I type my password and hit login, it says logging in... and it tries and tries and says login failed. I tried setting up a new account using the app but that did not work either. I tried using a non official tumblr app to see if it would work and same problem happened.
3. Goggles App: Does anyone know how to use this?
4. Youtube App: Just about every other time I watch a video using this app, it somehow loses its connection to youtube and a button appears to Retry, and I hit that several times and nothing comes up. I end up closing the app and re loading it, and it works for one or two videos and then the same thing happens. Super frustrating. I am able to use other youtube apps without a problem like Zing Youtube but I am unable to login and see my subscribed favorites.
5. Twitch App: It lost the feature to search, so I found a non official app called Twitch Player that works great except that some streams cause my phone screen to turn off and I have to take out my battery and turn it back on in order to get the phone working again. Quite annoying.
My friend said he just rooted his S4 and said it was easy, and I was thinking about doing it too but I am hesitant since I have never done that before, and this is my first smart phone which I love dearly. Any advice? I want to do it so I can use the app ShareKM which allows you to use your PC mouse and keyboard on your android.
Thanks!

1. USB to PC problem
A: Delete all drivers for the phone from your PC.
B: make sure your phone isnt plugged into the PC and make sure USB Debugging Mode is off
C: replug your phone to your PC and allow the MTP drivers to install, then switch to camera mode (PTP) and let those install then you can go back to USB debugging mode
2. Tumblr app problem
A: make sure you have the correct login info by trying to log in through the PC's browser. If not, just press "I forgot my login info" or whatever and have the password reset email sent to you.
B: make sure app is updated. if it is and youre certain you typed the info properly then the app is buggy.
C: firmly swing a hammer on your phone.
3. google goggles
Its works when you take pictures of logo's or landmarks and google tries to use its knowledge graph to identify it and give you info on it. as you can imagine this is a tough program to get to work well. As such it doesnt.
4.
If youre using a custom stock android rom like cyanogen or AOKP or paranoid or any variation of the three you probably flashed a bad google apps file. If youre not using one of those, make sure youtube is updated from the play store and it very well could be a connection problem with your router.
5. on idea
6. Rooting your device
One of XDA's awesome devs Adam Outler created a program for your computer (any OS) that will root your phone and unlock your bootloader with the click of a button. you can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2272066

The questioms have already been answered but something caught my attention, you want to use your keyboard and mouse on your phone. You can already do that, the Note 2 has USB OTG active so you can use just about anything on it, except XBOX controllers, like PS3 controllers, jump drives, external hard drives (they have to be formatted a certain way but they are able to be used), mice, keyboards, etc.
You should still root your phone because it opens an entirely new world for you.

Wow! I ordered one of those little cables that lets you plug in USB things but never thought to simply try using a USB keyboard or mouse with it! I am typing this on my USB keyboard and it works like a charm I also tried using a USB mouse and it works great, the wheel even works for scrolling up and down. I will try my wireless keyboard and mouse combo later to see if it will work but I am doubting it will work if it needs drivers (It is not the bluetooth kind). I wonder if this thing can handle USB splitters....
Thanks!!! Love the Note2

I was able to get the PC USB connection working thanks to eboodnero's advice, but the real issue was that I was trying to connect the USB plug into a splitter USB plug instead of directly into the computer A poor mistake, learned the hard way.
Also, I tried logging into the Tumblr app after changing my password to an easy one without special characters, and that seemed to make it work ^shrug^

Sup my XDA'erzz... Hey so real quick is anyone experiencing issues with Android File Transfer and a Mac? I'm specifically using a Macbook Pro i& quad-core with a SSD and running OS X 10.9 Mavericks... I never had these issues with my Verizon OG HTC One 32GB... But since picking up a Verizon HTC One Max 32GB Android File Transfer refuses to work and for the life of me I can't figure out why.. If I just plug it in nothing happens unless I manually launch AFT and then I receive a message that says please connect your android device with a usb cable. If I plug it in and restart the phone it picks it up but then says can not connect to device... It's extremely annoying because I'm working on some ROMs for it and I have to constantly ADB push everything....... Not that big of deal but I'd still like to be able to mount my storage where everything is visible and can add/remove as I please.... Any suggestions would be great, thanks guys!!

Did you look at what the usb phone setting is on. I know there are extra ones like modem or something or other that could prevent transfer.
I am having similar issues, the mtp file transfer mode seems to borked. I can get files from phone but not send em. I've been mounting my external sd as drive then moving the files using root explorer.
Of course.. It always shows that MTP mode is enabled but does nothing when you tap it, and also shows usb is connected on the phone but when taping that it brings up only options for internet passthrough and sharing etc...

Could be the USB 3.0 intermittent issue. Try a powered hub that is USB 2.0 as if your notebook is new enough most likely the USB ports are all 3.0.
Just saying.
