With the given ok from danutzz, the originator of turboprop (which this is based off of), comes GSM Auto-Script. What this does is sed out the ril/network values in build.prop, replaces them and creates a backup of build.prop. Also extracts/overwrites apns-conf.xml. This of course will ONLY WORK PROPERLY on an AOSP rom.
Enjoy!
PS: The creator of the apns-conf.xml please come forward as I am unsure of whom it is.
The creator has been found! Thank you siulmagic!!
PLEASE ONLY RUN THIS AMON -RA, Have not tested this on any other recovery!
Changelog:
v2
Re-built edify script using specific file extracts instead of directory extracts.
v1
Initial release
Awesome to see this posted .
Special thanks to Neo for providing us with the ril properties to change.
Credit to siulmagic for the original find.
Also, I've used this on twrp 2.3.2.3. The newer versions didn't work.

To be clear, this will allow a rezound running an aosp ROM to run on a gsm network? I had read in the past that the changes wipe data on your phone. Is this still the case? What about reverting back for CDMA Lte use? I am asking in case I want to travel to countries with gsm networks but use my rezound.

You are correct but it doesnt wipe data, GSM AOSP on the Rezound. Should only need a nand backup to restore back to CDMA/LTE.

I don't believe these changes will wipe data, but they do need to be done on a fresh install in order to pickup the new apns and ril settings. From what I can gather, the ril changes basically just force the phone to boot into gsm by default. Thus the phone will be using any gsm carrier apns by default. I don't know about "switching back" to cdma afterword as I don't use a cdma network anymore, but I don't think that's how it works.
Anyone who has a better idea on how the network settings work please feel free to correct me if any of my assumptions are wrong.

Thanks for the info. Mind sharing what carrier you are using and what kind of connection you have? We are able to get HSDPA+ with our radios, right?

I'm on tmobile. I can only pick up edge network, but with some radio edits found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32331786, you can enable hspa with att towers. So far, no luck with tmobile. That might change once they refarm their spectrum, but I'm not in one of those areas to test.

Tested this with infection and it doesn't seem to be working as expected. I'll try to troubleshoot, but it added an extra etc folder to the root directory (not system). Also, it didn't update the build prop. Tried on twrp 2.3.2.3 (working before) and 2.4 and no luck.
I rebuilt the rom zip adding in the prop edits and the apn xml pre-flash and that all worked. Seems like cm10.1 doesn't like anything being flashed before booting. It just kept giving me system crashes.

I will rebuild it without using the symlink to etc.

Just tested it. Seemed to sort of work. It was searching for a sim but said I didn't have one installed. Adding apns is a no go, but I suspect from reading, if I understand correctly, its supposed to be that way.
Does not seem to work with Infection rom yet. Was the issue fixed in v2 ? Does not even show the Cyanogen Mod boot logo - just a plain black screen
i hope someone can get gsm working for infection, as its my only way to use the phone.
but anyways keep up the good work guys!

I may be a bit off the mark here but on the other roms when GSM is enabled you can navigate to Settings>Data Usage and toggle Mobile Data on/off.. With Infection when the patch is run it doesn't even show the Mobile Data toggle. Don't know if it really means anything but I've noticed this...
Well we know what's not working. Just no idea WHY it's not working. Neo will have a patch out soon, I'm sure. Hopefully we can figure out what's wrong with this and 10.1. Works fine on all other AOSP roms. Both ics and jb. Something to do with 4.2.1 breaks it.

Alright, first let me say that I am very appreciative of the roms we have. I just wanted to know what it would take to port roms from other carriers to use on Verizon. When roaming through all the forums, the amount of flashing one could do would be enormous. Any detailed info would be great. Thanks in advance.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Yes, I believe all you need to do are swap out a couple libs and edit the APN info, but there may be a little more besides that.
Thanks imnuts. Could you maybe give me some advice on how to proceed? How would I go about tracking down the libs? Would I see what was in our stock rom, and check the differences in a alternate carriers rom lib folder? I understand the apn settings somewhat, but as you can tell, I am new to having a phone that is on multiple carriers, and Samsung. I have themed some of my own stuff, but haven't done anything like this. The reason I ask is because I have seen people here saying that they were on jellybomb, and others. Any adive would be helpful.

I'm doing a Verizon to tmo right now. All the info you need should be right here. Also to expand make sure you still run a Verizon radio and kernel. By the way the people on jellybomb just flashed ROM then Verizon kernel and radio. The link above is how to do it correctly as imnuts mentioned.

Thank you so much for the reply. I am trying to wrap my head around this so bear with me. I am not going to try it until I completely understand what I am doing. From what I read,
1. I can flash a att/t-mo rom.
2. Run the rom checking script(make sure it passes)
3. Flash kernel, and radio, and boot rom.
4. Check csc's, and build prop, change files accordingly.
5. Check data networks, and gps function.
5. profit?
Is it that easy? I am sure I am oversimplifying this. If it is that easy, could you point me in the right direction for the radio. I did a quick search on xda, and google without finding it. Thank you for holding my hand : )
By the way kintwofan, I pmed you the same message, if you feel l I ke it is spam, delete, and thanks for getting me this far.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Okay to do it correctly you will need to do a little work. You will need to edit your build.prop and the files in /system/csc
to reflect Verizon.
Next remove the tmo or sprint specific app (from link). Then you will want to get the Verizon specific apps (from that link) and put them in /system/apps.
If you don't do these things then the check zio will show incompatable. Then just make sure you are on a Verizon kernel and radio (I'll find link but it's in development thread)
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
That helps tremendously. I will hunt down the radio myself. You provided more than you should have to. That thread was just a little over my head, and I will reread many times before trying. Coming from the rezound, this is like a very complex, and new heaven. Thank you again.

They should be fine, before you flash any make a nandroid. If they don't work just restore your backup. I would avoid the ones that say Only for X on the thread title, it shouldn't brick your phone or do anything you can't come back from but there is always the possibility with the ones that say Only for X that there is something in them different fro, a normal theme. Just be on the safe side and make a nandroid so if anything does go wrong you can always restore.

I would be a little more leery in flashing Sprint themes just because their kernels sprint writes /data on /dev/block/mmcblk0p17 instead of on /dev/block/mmcblk0p16 but that is only on the kernels and not themes. There are a few differences with the Sprint Note 2.
I would think that the Cleanrom or Beans themes would be fine, probably most other themes would be but I don't want to tell you 100% yes when I'm not 100% sure at the moment, I'm about 99% sure.
I know when I used the VZW S3 we could use *any* of the other carriers S3 themes so I would assume it would be the same with the Note 2 and the worst thing that would happen would be you might, just might, get a bootloop that could easily be fixed by restoring your nandroid.
Also I noticed you said you were looking in the S3 forms, S3 themes won't be compatible. Other Note 2 versions themes probably will be compatible but you can't just go using other phones themes when they're made for a completely different phone. At least the Note 2 versions are close enough that it shouldn't matter but using s S3 theme is asking for trouble.

Well that theme may work on the N2 if it stated that it did, I don't run themes when I am on TW so I haven't really looked.
I wouldn't flash the S3 themes, just because I don't like having to restore nandroids, but it could work. I wouldn't think it would but I am no master themer.
You might try asking this in the themes section and see if one of the themers had any answers.

Today I have been sitting at work. I compared the LG Nexus 5 to the Galaxy S4 and noticed they were pretty similar. Not same, just alike. Anyway, what I though about is can the S4 be cleaned up and as close to a Nexus as possible? Is there a way to mod this and replace the ROM with something as clean and stock that is NOT SS? I am not one for writing code but I do follow directions pretty well and can mod without bricking my phone. I've started modding back with the Samsung Moment/Transform. So, is this possible? if so, are there any threads? and lastly, what is the difference with android dev and original android dev? the forums kinda changed on me one day and now it has new stuffs.

With the locked bootloader you are out of luck replacing the full OS.
But you will lose some nice features if you could.
I rooted and disabled all the Verizon and Samsung stuff I don't use or need. YMMV on what you want frozen.
I have mine pretty tuned now.
I have the latest version of wallet supporting tap and pay.
Have Xposed framework installed to change behavior.
I don't need vanilla Android.

I am rooted on ME7. I didn't upgrade because i am in the field playing army. anyhoo, what samsung stuff did you freeze? i don't want to freeze something that is required to run. Can i freeze the launcher if i have a replacement already running(touchwiz)?
what did you do to "tune" it?
And it's been awhile since i modded.
I checked the sticky and froze apps from the list people tested. I then picked a few of my own. I'm running xposed and the Wanam module that allows me to change all kinds do of appearance stuff. I also have tethering working. I moved from ME7. In hindsight I would stay there MI1 has more limitations for customization.

That is why I am staying on ME7 until i see a viable root for 4.3. I don't want to risk losing root or the framework either.
as for the sticky, i can't seem to find it in the boards. i wear glasses so I know i'm blind.
Framework works on mj7. You can update without losing root but yes you need to find the thread, there are files and instructions. Also will likely need a como to properly odin no wipe back to a stock system set up.
Find in the general section.

I've noticed only a few ROMS available for the Sprint Note 3. I know Sprint is always a few months behind other carriers but I do greatly prefer Sprint over all other carriers. For their political beliefs there environmental outlook and quality of service. Though... One of my favorite things to do is flash ROMS and tweak my devices. So I'm now I'm in a position where my carrier is preventing me from doing one of the things I enjoy doing. I'm wondering if the ROM developers can start porting their ROMS for SM-N900P Sprint Note 3, or is there a moderately difficult process someone can point me to so I can port them myself. I can follow directions no matter how difficult but I cannot program.

just a bit dramatic, technically they are not stopping you. the lack of roms is stopping you.
but i digress...
While I'm always for more roms, i like mine to be different enough from each other to be able to tell what i'm flashing.
i guess we could just get a bunch of very similar roms that way you could just flash a new one all day.
though i say with the ones we have, and at the rate they get updated, if yuo install them and play around with each one, by the time you were done there would be updates to the first ones to go back and start the whole series over.
that wasn't a run on sentence by the way.
porting roms is a whole can of worms...
starting with getting permissions from the original authors
to figuring out what needs to be changed to make it work.
can be painfree and simple
or can be worse than doing it from scratch.
though i have a prediction, not that i would have heard or anything, that we will see a few new roms shortly.
shhhhhhhhhhhh dont tell them i told you they wil AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
