I am in a little bit of a predicament, I relocked my bootloader because I was trying to unroot but it seems I should have flashed a stock rom wit an older radio before locking the bootloader and now I cant fully unroot. so my problem is that I am trying to re-unlock my bootloader via htc dev, but when I go into fastboot and plug my phone in my computer will not for the life of itself recognize my phone. and I tried it on my laptop and the same thing is happening anybody know what could possibly be wrong? any help is appreciated, thank you.
Try a different cable and/or different USB port.

yes I am on windows 8.1 , but I downloaded the new drivers that work for windows 8.1 already.
I'm having the same issue trying to install the new CM. On 8.1, my usb drivers aren't the intel 3.0's, am S-OFF, adb works fine, just unable to get to fastboot to install twrp 2.6.3... Is there another way to install latest twrp? Please forgive me as it seems like I've done it before, but so long ago. Here @ 3am it is escaping me.

Also, Flash Image GUI, if you have a running ROM.
Thanks for the links fellas. I'm attempting to get it working now. Really frustrated with not being able to get fastboot working, but I guess I can live with it.
Edit: Flash GUI is stuck trying to flash it. Flashing as zip failed. Goomanager won't download the file at all. Think I am doomed here...
Re-edit: Flash GUI ended up flashing it correctly... thanks

Do you have the International or ATT One X+? If you didnt do a nandroid backup first then you need to re lock the bootloader and then run the RUU for your phone. The phone should be in fastboot mode with the bootloader locked and attached to computer via USB. Then you should be able to run the RUU which will restore your phone to stock settings. If you tell me which carrier you have i'll point you to the correct RUU.

My evo is rooted, ive got twrp recovery installed, and i recently tried flashing a rom and its not working for me . i have S-ON and i heard you need S-OFF to flash roms properly. Ive been looking around for a tool to S-OFF my evo on windows(HBOOT 2.09.0000) and i have yet to find one! is there a tool available to do this? if so, is it going to factory reset my device? will i ave to re-root and unclock the boot loader? as you can probably tell, Im new to the whole rooting and rom ing thing. I would like to be able to flash roms, so any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Try the method I described in the thread I came up with this morning - if you're comfortable with doing everything. It wasn't too hard to do. I just had to convert the jargon into words I could understand.
Try using the Moonshine method first though! It's easy and straightforward - if it will recognize your device (which it wouldn't recognize mine for some reason).
Here's what I did.
Good luck!

I get the same error messages. For the update one, make sure your firewall and anti-virus are off. That solved mine. For the "Error run distiller again" issue, that's what brought me here. Pleases let me know if you solve this!

I think the "run distiller again and read" part means you pushed some buttons and otherwise touched or maimed your phone while Moonshine is working. I solved my issue. I was unzipping Moonshine to one folder then cutting the visible files out and pasting them to a separate folder. This left behind a hidden file. Solved problem by unzipping directly to my SDK platform tools folder which contains adb.exe and fastboot.exe. Worked first try. I'd already stopped firewalls, turned off anti-virus and tried to switch to usb file sharing during install (which is why I was told to "read". None of those were required this time. Never touched phone even though it was not in correct file sharing mode, and it still worked.
Ok so my son threw my rezound down n the battery drained
I went to fix the phone and it wouldn't boot but I could get into recovery so I did a wipe in recovery.. Something failed n the phone restarted n now I can not get into recovery. It keeps restarting every time I go into recovery.
I think I need help using ADB. I've downloaded a "mini adb" n I can't get the computer to recognize my device. I know I have to go into adb to fix this but it has been forever since I've used adb.

ADB is used with USB debugging in Android OS... Not in HBoot. You need to use fastboot, can you start fastboot and have it recognized with fastboot devices?

Another issue, I'm on win 8 n I am having driver issues.. Googled it and tried some things that I found n didn't work for me.. So in the morning I'm gonna try on a win 7 computer at my brothers house.
I was able to get aroma in a ph98img.zip file transfered to the SD card, put that in, it installed and I'm still having the same issues, Boot into recovery, it starts loading n then restarts.
Win8 can be a problem, you might need to install HTC Sync but it likely won't work.

If you are S-OFF (and presumably locked) then you can't use most Fastboot commands so it might not be very beneficial anyway to get it working.
Just get the latest PH98IMG.zip image of TWRP and put it on your flash card, boot into Hboot and it should parse and reflash TWRP and correct the problem. Once you get recovery working you should be able to just flash the ROM again.

Hello,
I was recently given a bootlooping Evo 4G Lte. I have been trying to figure out how to get this thing out of a bootloop and havent been able to do it. I, unfortunately, have no history on what happened to this device. Currently, it bootloops on the "Mean Bean" loading screen but will go no further. I can get into the bootloader, which says it is Unlocked, S-On, but I am unable to boot it into a recovery, it just returns back to bootloader. I have tried fastbooting twrp, but it fails (remote: image update error), and I have tried fastbooting the Mean Bean kernel thinking maybe thats all it needs, but that failed as well. Anybody have an insight? Much appreciated! Thanks.

I would run the 3.17 RUU. Hit the top link in my sig and look at the last post in the thread. You can run it from the bootloader. You'll need to re-root afterwards but it should get your phone back in working condition.

Thanks for the quick reply. I downloaded the RUU and ran it. However it sits and says "Waiting for bootloader" then errors out with "USB connection issue". The usb is working. The reason I never ran the RUU in teh first place was because i thought i read that you cant RUU with and unlocked bootloader. Is that not true? or is that my problem?
Mike
Not 100% sure but I will check with someone who used this tool recently and see if they were still unlocked at the time. Were you connected via Fastboot USB? Sounds more like a driver issue.

Yeah I was connected and it said fastboot USB. It said rebooting to bootloader and rebooted, still said fastboot USB. Then it sat at a screen that said "waiting for bootloader" and after a while error ed out.
You can try relocking. You just need to run the command "fastboot oem relock" from a command line while connected via fastboot USB mode.

you can use the stock RUU and you can leave the bootloader unlocked as it will not affect anything.. it will fix your looping problem (Amongst others) as in gps not working ect.. once your done you will need to fastboot over your TWRP and from there mod as normal Good Luck! and ill be watching if you need any help!

When in doubt update your android SDK remove the htc drivers reboot install drivers reboot and you should be good to go! Check the integrity of your USB cable and if possible use a rear USB port (More Power) Painful process yes but well worth it.. HTC drivers act strange till you reboot OOOh and make sure your using the proper HTC drivers for windows 32 bit or 64 bit!

The drivers seem to be ok, but I am still not able to get any further. The RUU finds my phone, then reboots again to bootloader, but it just sits there saying "Waiting for bootloader" until it errors out due to "USB Connection error". I have tried a few different cables, and different USB ports. Not sure what the problem is but it just wont go any further. I re-unlocked my bootloader with htcdev. I have tried fastbooting a recovery to the phone but it errors out. I just cant get anything to work so I can boot anything. I really just want to get something working...anything! Any other ideas? Thanks.

Well, which recovery file should I be using? When I use the main TWRP ones (ie openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.0-jewel.img) it gives me the errors like I said above. I now see they have a few labeled like this PJ75IMG-twrp-2.3.1.0-jewel.zip. When I use these, it tries to continue but says "Main Version Is Older. FAILED"

Did you guys rename the image file you downloaded to "recovery.img"?
Also, you're not trying to flash it with the phone turned on, are you? USB debugging has no bearing on fastboot mode... Make sure you're in fastboot mode and not bootloader mode also.
i double checked everything. I am in usb fastboot mode , cable connected to phone etc. it just doesnt work.. giving me the error message as before.

I have an ATT phone but currently living in Jamaica...I've had this phone for close to 2weeks now but im getting frustrated with all the att bloatware pre-installed..i would also like to tether using the phone but instead have to b using pdanet. i have already unlocked bootloader on htcdev following ur guidelines and i have all the correct htc drivers installed. upon looking through ur threads about the desire 610 i came across 1 person who has the same ATT phone and followed ur rooting guide but now has posted pics of their screen with icons to the left and the borders bigger...are u working on a new root or better yet, is there a way to enable tethering or uninstall the att bloatware without rooting the phone bcuz thats all i really want to do in the first place...and before i forget, i dont see an option to update the phone without using ATT, does this mean that i cant update to newer versions of kit kat knowing that im in jamaica... Any assistance would be greatly appreciated...
I'm not certain yet. Wait until I get a one click solution for you, and we'll see if it's something that's easily fixed. The root method is about as good as it's going to get. There's no exploit needed, so it's unlikely one will ever be created that will work.
try adding ( .img ) at the end so recovery.img.img it looks like, change to recovery.img then add another .img at the end.. worked for me isk why.. or use kingroot to root after bootloader unlocked. Sorry to add to old thread.
