[Q] Flash Celular i5500 going forever - Samsung Galaxy 5 I5500

Hello, I am trying 2 months to flash my cell i5500 I have used a lot of firmwares, there is no way, I use odin multi downloader, it recognizes the cellphone but after I start it spend hours and doesn't complete the job. Here is a video that I recorded about it:
youtube.com/watch?v=5K-pcTBS80s&feature=youtu.be&hd=1
If someone knows how to do it I will really appreciate, I don't have experience in it, and only did because it was with a lot of software problems.

You're using Odin 4.03, but you're supposed to use version 4.27. Older versions don't support your device, and newer versions have a different kind of incompatibility.

With 4.28 same thing happens..

"Older versions don't support your device, and newer versions have a different kind of incompatibility." The way you say, there is no solution for it, isn't it?

First, stay with Odin 4.28 (I wrote 4.27 by accident). It appears to be working correctly, as the title changed to "Odin Multi Downloader (GT-I5500), meaning that the .ops file is also correct.
Are you sure that you're in the correct download mode? The "Emergency DLoad mode" will also show the yellow indicator in Odin, but it's not really compatible, and will hang on flashing just as in your video. You must be in the regular download mode only (volume down + center button + power), showing the yellow triangle. If you've tried to flash previously and it failed, the phone will be in an invalid mode, so you need to remove the battery, re-insert and re-enter download mode. Verify that the drivers are working correctly too.
I can see some Portuguese words in your file path - maybe Odin is getting confused by that. Try to move both the ROM and OPS to a folder at the root of the drive with no Latin accents anywhere in the folder name/path.

[Q] Read all the posts I can find and I still can't flash with odin! Please help!

Hi everyone,
I brought a new galaxy s2 phone about 4 weeks ago and it has spent most of that time soft bricked since I tried to update it to the newest firmware, K14....
I am using windows 7 starter, 32bit. I have installed kies, uninstalled and re-installed kies, tried uninstalling kies and just using the drivers.
Recently I did a clean install of windows, installed kies, as more drivers seem to be recognized and downloaded odin v1.85. I restart the computer, start task manager end all processes that say kies, run odin as a administrator, put the tar file in pda, only auto reboot is selected. I then plug in the phone, in download mode, wait for yellow box and press start and the process only goes as far as boot.bin.
I have tried all of my usb ports and the only difference is the number of the modem installed driver and how far along odin gets. With two ports it only goes as far as setup connection which was as far as anything went before I re-installed windows. I have replaced the usb cable and made sure the phone battery is fully charged. The phone was put into usb debugging mode before it was bricked. I have attached a picture of what drivers get installed when I plug in the phone. The firmware I am attempting to flash is the uk 3 version off the firmware page of this website.
Please can somebody give me the solution it is driving me nuts!
Sorry for waffling but I figure you need to know what I've tried so that I don't waste anybodies time.
Thanks guys
Did you try a different stock rom? Did you try a different pc? Or if you want to, flash a CF-root kernel. Then boot in recovery and flash a rom of your choice.
The flashcounter will start and stock roms can't be flashed this way (at least as far as I know).
Is your phone a I9100 model?
I ask this to make sure you are trying to flash the correct firmware for your device.

Possibility one bad firmware file or wrong file ,
Or not using Samsung USB cable .

Hi Lenny,
Yh, i have tried it on my desktop which runs 7 home premium. Clean install with same results. Tried the K14 firmware a few times but that never got any further than setup connection. Don't understand the rest of your post sorry. Can you do a flash for dummies thing? And is there a firmware you would recommend trying?
@ aceofclubs -the box says i9100 and so does the sticker in the back.
@ JJEgan - the first cable I used was the one in the box and while the one I have replaced by ebay, they had good feedback. The K14 firmware was given to be by a user of the galaxy s2 that he had successfully flashed with.
Does the phone look to have installed correctly, the guy who gave me the firmware said he had abd appear in device manager, which I haven't got. Also after the phone is finished installing drivers if I click in the system tray, the green icon that shows devices that are present is not there and neither is the phone but if I go into device manager samsung composite device is.

No you dont need a ADB neccesarily for flashing. ADB (Android Debug Bridge) is a tool that comes with the Android SDK that allows you to control and interface with your Android device. Well do u have the phone specifications before bricking it, like Model No, Built, CSC, Kernal Etc.
First try to uninstall Kies and Install the latest version, so that you have the latest drivers.
Check the Intratech thread on Stock ROM ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278) and download the correct rom.( I presume you have I9100 Intenational Version of S2). Open Odin 1.85, do not change any options, brownse and put the stock rom u downloaded into the PDA section and click on start button, you should be good.PM me if you have any issues.
The above didn't work. Here's what I got:

AS you have the yellow box in Odin you have the drivers all the firmware in that link works .
run odin as a administrator, put the tar file in pda, only auto reboot is selected. I then plug in the phone, in download mode, wait for yellow box and press start
Lets do this the right way just to be sure . Open Odin put the tar file in PDA
go to download mode at first screen download mode on phone follow instruction ( vol up from memory ) after next screen connect Samsung USB cable to phone and PC .

Thanks, think I've done that anyway but, just to check, what do you mean by next screen?
The screen when you are in download mode and press volume up.
Yh that is what I'm doing, thanks tho. Can someone please give me a reliable link to an older version of Odin to try? At the mo I am using v1.85, this the latest version?

So close! I plugged the phone in and got as far as cache with the green progress bar showing just the tiniest bit. Left it for over an hour but the bar didn't move at all! Encouraged I restarted the computer to try again only to find that now the computer and odin won't recognize the phone until I uninstall and reinstall kies and always hangs on cache. I restarted in the first place as the phone never shows in the system tray. Sorry to be a bore but have you any idea why everyone else can plug in and flash and my machines refuse to! I welcome any ideas you have. Thank you.
Instead of Odin, you could try Heimdall. Maybe that will work for you.

hey hope everyone had a good christmas and new year. Still no joy, where do I get PIT files to flash with the newest version of heimdall to go with our firmware? The newest version won't let me add files until I enter a PIT. I tried version 1.1 but I couldn't get it to recognise a compatible device.
On the odin front: I thought I'd cracked it. It started flashing, took hours but I had half a green progress bar and then it just seem to freeze. Also this seems replicable a few times and then I get stuck at setup connection again. I then have to do a system restore to get it to flash to the furthest point again. Does this give anyone any clues? Or does anyone know of any heimdell packages I could try? And the long shot, any way of getting firmware on to an sd card and flashing that way when a phone is soft bricked?
Sorry if I'm annoying you but there has to a way round this. I brought a rooted one to use while this is sorted, love the phone but need to know I can update and be able to sort it out if things go wrong.
Thanks again for your help and suggestions.

[Q] Stuck in Odin mode "Could not do normal boot."

I recently got my new Verizon Galaxy S4 and decided to play around with it. I got it rooted fine and got a few apps on there (like Titanium backup) and decided that, since I would eventually want to play around with ROMs, I would want to unlock the phone.
I looked around and found there were some options for me, the one I chose being the "all in one" option that roots, unlocks and installs a custom recovery mode for you. I went through this process and now get nothing but the Downloader Mode (could not do normal boot). Even if I pop out the battery and try to reboot it, I get this screen.
I later found that apparently the ME7 model currently will not accept attempts to unlock the phone and install a custom ROM or recovery menu. How do I fix this? I tried using Odin, but it doesn't recognize the phone as being connected. I am currently trying other methods like Kies, to see if there is any way to at least to an emergency recovery and get it back to normal.
EDIT: Ran into the same issue with Kies as I did with Odin, it does not see anything connected to the computer.
Do you have the correct drivers installed? Does adb recognize the device? You're in Odin mode when you try to use Odin to push something? I believe with ME7 you can Odin back to the official stuff.

You need to make sure you have the drivers for the phone and have a solid USB connection (I prefer the rear of a tower)

I ended up getting it to work. I had to go here:
http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/inf/sb/CS-013541.htm
and get files to get the computer to recognize the device. Even afterwards, Keis had no idea what was going on, and Odin saw it and was able to install a stock firmware I downloaded earlier, saving the phone.
For now I will be satisfied with just root access and will wait for ROM capabilities.
I hate to hijack a thread but I'm stuck here. My GS 4 (Vzw) was supposedly successfully rooted using TWRP, but now I have no way to enter any sort of recovery. The package I downloaded for the root does not have an Odin version to run. I've been getting the endless prompts to install the 4.3 update but there is no way to do this on my phone. I get the same "Could not do normal boot. Odin mode. Write protection enabled" message with the downloading screen. I try to boot into recovery via CWM or Goomanager but it always goes to the same screen. I can't make any backups or restore now either or I would just do a factory reset. Any ideas? I'm on VRUAME7.
Um.... there's no recovery available with ME7.... are you on the MDK bootloader?

I don't think so but how would I confirm? I'm just trying to get the 4.3 update installed but at every attempt it goes into Odin Mode and gets stuck.

You're said that you're on ME7 - what you need to do is to flash the "No wipe" ME7 ROM onto your phone. It's in the Development forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301259
You've got to update to MI1 before you can install the 4.3 update (MJ7).
ONLY flash files intended for whatever release you're running. You can't mix and match, can't go backwards, and can't skip updates.
Theres also an ml1 factory image in the dev section.
Hit thanks if I helped you out. Doing a little bit of reading goes a long way. Sent via tapatalk.

Hi! Sorry to kind of "butt in" on your thread, but I'm somewhat of a noob and have the same exact problem as you. If you don't mind, can you explain what you downloaded from Intel and what you did afterwards that fixed your problem? On that page I linked to, look for this:
Solution:
Download and run the Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility so Windows* properly recognizes the SMBus controller.
Get the proper driver download according to your OS, then install it. This should allow Odin to see the phone for you to install a clean copy of the stock ROM onto the phone.
If you want more details I am sorry to say I cannot provide them. When things involve me fixing my own technology, it is a lot of rapid-fire troubleshooting and I just go with what sticks without really memorizing what I did (so if I run into this issue again, I have to re-research).

[Q] Unroot - Recovery Mode- Download mode

Ok
Trying to Unroot.
But today I have this giantic issue.
My recovery mode just doesnt appear anything like before.
I have tried unrooting using a Root_Remover.zip file. But I can't find at all the "install zip" menu in recovery mode I had when I had to root it first ! Now it just wont appear at all. I only have :
Reboot system Now
Apply update from external Storage
Wipe Data/Factory REset
Wipe Cache Partition
and nothing more. I even tried the second menu (apply update from ext.stor.) but im not using any external storage.
I thought "all right, Ill get through it with ODIN >>> WRONG !!!!!! No download mode ...
So right now I'm completely screwed since theres no way I can perform an unroot under such conditions.
Please someone help me out with this, sorry for being a bit too straightfoward but after 72h spent on that @#%? I find it pretty unrelevant that this ****ing menu wont show the hell up. Even though I guess Im just doing something wrong, I need help.
EDIT : All right. So I figured out most tutorials are written by incompetent people whom mostly release pseudo tutorials that are just here to show the world that they can perform this or that, but in fact, can't take a single second to make a point where you don't get access to DOWNLOAD MODE the same way on a Tab2 than with a S2 -_-. We don't enter DOWNLOAD mode the same way ... geez ... so I figured out that using the Up volume button instead of the down volume button would eventually get me there. Which it did. Come on ... how is it possible that after 15 tutorials, not ONE did mention that ?
Also, ODIN doesn't want to do @#%? right now. I browsed the right firmware, plugged my tab to my laptop ... hit START and it ends in 5 seconds after "all thread completed (0 succeed/0 failed)
I've tried multiple stock firmwares (all the same but form different locations or mirrors) and ... nothing. So ...
First, please clarify these couple of questions. What device do you have? What version of recovery do you have? And one more out of curiosity. Where did you get that root remover zip?

Most of the tutorials are written for the GT-P75xx. Being that it's also the device for the section you posted this rant in, I can see why the tutorials were not what you needed. Just my two cents but condemning the authors of the tutorials will most likely get you very little help. Not to mention this section isn't for your device.

Don't know what happened to my last reply but anyway :
All the threads I read were for Tab2 p51xx or SII.
As explained in first reply (which disappeared), I had and have my damn good reason to condemn people who spam the net with their useless blogs. Won't waste time explaining again a reason which won't certainly arent interested in. But it was costy in term of $.
That said I then realized XDA still exists so I launched a quick google search and fell on this subboard. Reading "Samsung Tab 10.1", unfortunatly didn't mean to me it is a seperated sub forum from the Samsung tab2 10.1. My bad ... do I have to get this thread transfered to the right place or admins will find it useless ?
_____________
My ROM is none. I unrooted but didn't install any ROM. After that I simply figured out I don't need one. But today I need to upgrade to anything above 4.0.4 after the very bad experience I had late friday eve which is quite costy.
I have one more minor trouble I didn't speak of in my first post :
I bought my tablet in September 2012 in the Netherlands GT P5110, ICS 4.0.4. So after checking on the XDA page where all of the stock firmwares are listed, I realized there is no "perfect" match. The only firmware for the Netherlands and for P5110 is from April 2012 and ICS 4.0.3, not 4.0.4 ; yet it is the one I downloaded. Should I get another one ?
About the Root remover, I uploaded to my tab one I downloaded from a website which I can't recall or find on google right now because I downloaded two from two different websites and only remember this one : www techbloggerzone com/2012/09/how-to-unroot-galaxy-tab-2-101-gt html [dots for WWW | COM and HTML were removed since I'm not allowed to post external links yet]
I think there's nothing else missing, but tell me if there is.
IMPORTANT EDIT : I just realized the factory usb plug I have for the Samsung must be damaged. It charges on sector, but isn't identified properly on my laptop and thus won't let me connect it by wire. Didn't figure this out earlier as I did all transfers by Kies wifi. Damn ... but it only explains why Odin can't upload anything to my tab, not why I can't use find the zip install option in Recovery mode for the root_remover.zip
As already stated you're in the wrong place but we all try to help each other here...but no more rants or you might find a stoney silence will be your only reply....
Problem with Odin is more likely laptop drivers and/or windows version and not your cable...
Samfirmware has many 4.0.4 roms for your "area", they have a 4.1.2 version for Netherlands and 4.0.4 for Belgium, Luxembourg etc. As long as you find an XX version it will have Dutch language option.
The recovery you described when you eventually got into it sounded like stock recovery so you wouldn't be able to choose and flash zip from there
Calm down, take a deep breath, get your laptop and drivers sorted first or you'll not get anywhere... Did you have a yellow indication with com port number in the Odin window, if not it is surely drivers. Does windows in any way recognise the tab when connected? (warning tone, does device manager show anything?)

I thought I had all my drivers updated (for the samsung tab, installed like two or three weeks ago), so if it's about drivers, then I don't get it . I checked that in the first place. The cable sometimes fails the connection to my laptop, but today it just won't work. :/. Windows recognizes the device as an external object which can't properly install and such connect (yellow pop up message in right corner, over the task bar). I do not exactly undersatnd what you mean by a yellow indication with "com port" number in the Odin window, but I don't think I had that ... in fact I'm pretty sure about it.
If it's just about drivers, where can I go to find the latest ?
Try looking in Samsung site for drivers here http://www.samsung.com/us/support/
What version of odin are you using? Would recommend 1.3 for the tab 2.
The indication of com port in odin is as in attached image, if you haven't got that then the computer is not recognising your tab, either because of drivers, or cable, but as we've said, you should start with the drivers, probably by downloading the latest from Samsung, deleting all drivers you have at the moment then re-installing.
If the tab is not recognized by the computer then programs like odin cannot do anything as they use the computers' usb bus...

[Q] Bootloop, no recovery, only download mode, USB questionable

Hello,
Yesterday I've checked my Galaxy S3 only to find it stuck on the logo screen, which was weird since it was working fine minutes prior to that moment. I've tried booting it into recovery mode, but the same thing appears, only this time it flashes the logo, then goes black again, then flashes it again, and so on. It can, however, go into download mode. So I've tried connecting it to Kies, and doing the firmware upgrade, but it won't recognize my phone and it fails. I've tried re-flashing the ROM via Odin, several versions of it, but it says that the partition information is missing, or something along the lines of that. I've tried re-partitioning it with the .pit file, but it failed. So then I downloaded the Galaxy S3 unified toolkit, uninstalled Kies, installed the drivers from there, but the phone doesn't get recognized in the list of devices. I've tried several other USB ports and other cables, no change. It doesn't show up as an Android device in Device manager. Perhaps the device drivers are missing, so if I can get them for the device, it might get recognized, but I'd like to get some more insight and help on this while I'm trying out other options.
Some google searching has led me to find that this is a known issue and called a bootloop and is apparently fixable, but I'm stuck for two days now, and I'd really need to get it fixed ASAP. Any help at all is appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Had the same issue. Had to download & flash *.bin file through ODIN which did the trick and enabled me to boot into recovery. I can tell you the *.bin file name when I get home later today.

That would be extremely helpful, thanks. Did you also have the PIT issue?

As a matter of fact it is. What does that entail?
Here's what the download mode says:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME:
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: No
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
It was running 4.1.2. before the incident happened, I forgot to mention that.
It means your emmc chip is damaged and you cannot fix it with software.
If you have any remaining warranty then I suggest you contact samsung, this problem is known as partial sds.

[Q] Broke My Beloved Galaxy S YP-GI1CW

Hi
I unsuccessfully tried to root my YP-GI1CW using the process described at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852546
I realise now it was the wrong process but unfortunately my player now has the "firmware upgrade encountered an issue".
I would like to recover if if possible but Although Odin can detect the device when attached, adb does not see any devices. Im not sure if I can make the damage any worse but would appreciate any help in recovering my device.
Thanks - xdanewbie
Did you make a backup of your ROM first off
Second: can you get in recovery
Third: if you want to superuser try superoneclick to root your device
Fourth:you have to be careful not to do things like that it's very dangerous to the device.

As long as you can access download mode you should be able to get the device working again. I'd try heimdall (get suite 1.3 I believe) instead of Odin. It usually works better. You just need to find the Odin stock package for your device.

No you didn't break your device forever. All you have to do is install your stock rim that suites your device and flash it with hemidall

Hi
I have found all the files I need here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531850
BUT I cant get the device into download mode. I start the device with Powe+vold down+home key and it asks me to press vol up to continue. However, when I press vol up I get the "firmware upgrade encountered an issue" error.
Boy am i learning now
Thanks - xdanewbie
Hi
I realised that Heimdall was failing as it was using the standard sansung USB drivers. Im now trying to figure out how to stop those drivers from loading every time i plug in the YP-GI1.
In the meantime, I used ODIN to try and load the PIT and PDA rom image.
It appears to work but then the write fails (see attachment)
Any help would be appreciated - Thanks

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51762484 on heimdall did you follow my instructions on "----Installing device's driver for Hemidall----"? That's how I got it to install the correct drivers. Note: This is for restoring a YP-G1 (Galaxy Player 4.0) so don't use that restore file.
Is This Progress ?

Hi
I couldnt get zdiag to pick up any driver, the word samsung_android briefly appears when i connect the usb cable to the device but by the time standard usb driver load, the zdiag drop down window is blank.
However, I tried Odin 3.0.7 with the pit and rom files and the device did flash sucessfully. Now the device boots and says sansung galaxy SII GT-9100G and a yellow triangle and stops there. I can boot the device into download mode but I cannot seem to get into recovery mode by holding power-home-vol+
Im not even sure if this is progress or whether I have used the wrong rom (which i doubt because it clearly stated it was for the galaxy 4.2 international version YP-GI1CW
I have taken a screenshot of the successful flash.
Thanks for talking the time to help me. Im a little stuck now as I dont know what to do next.
Cheers -xdanewbie

First you would need to take the right package for your device as I explicitly written it was made for YP-G1 only. (See the YP-G1CW) you would need in that case, something so you can fully restore your device. Maybe you can find it in the 4.2 general forum.
And even so you said it was made for the 4.2, the file says it's for YP-G1 a.k.a the 4.0.

Did you try getting the 4.2 drivers from Samsung Kies and then using zadig? Also it seems like you're using an S2 restore, which isn't for your device. The comment I linked you to is for restoring a YP-G1 so you would have to get the right heimdall package for your 4.2 like zaclimon said.

Yep, Im officially an idiot. I did not even know the firmware was for the 4.0. I had missed the different between the YP-G1 and theYP-GI1
I have now found the correct rom here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1884071
However, i have tried every version of Odin from 1.3 to 3.0.9 and they all fail to complete the Nand write (see below)
I have tried 2 pc's with 2 cables and all versions of Odin.
Any other pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks - xdanewbie

I think you are going to have to use Heimdall for this. Try and get the drivers installed for this device, and see if zadig picks it up.
Day 4
Hi
OK. It appears that I can either setup my PC to Use Heimdall (which requres the samsung KIES drivers NOT to be installed) or Odin (which requires the drivers to be installed)
I have now deinstalled the kies usb drivers, run drivecleanup to remove the old usb entries and downloaded Heimdall 1.3.1. When I run zdiag it picks up the samsung usb driver and install the heimdall driver.
Im trying now to use the rootted rom available (which seems ok for odin) available at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1884071
However, if I try to use it with Heimdall 1.3.1 it says missing firmware.xml
I have a friends galaxy 4.2 also. Is there any way to extract the required info from that device or can anyone give pointers to where i might find a heimdall package for the YP-GI1CWXEU
Thanks - xdanewbie
In my opinion...heimdall is a little more advanced as opposed to odin. I suggest you stick to Odin...the flash might have failed because you flashed the wrong files before. From your thread...I believe you will get the PIT file...flash that and then flash the ROM and if you want, the kernel.
EDIT: I tested Odin v3.04...and it works fine with my YP-GI1.

Hi
Thanks for your help. I have the rom from the link above but where would i get the pit file from ?
Thanks - xdanewbie
Update: I found the PIT file for the international 4.2 version. I used odin 3.04 with the pit file followed by the rom and my device its now working again Is there any way now to get rid of the Salaxy S2 logo ?
Either way, many thanks to all who helped and I hope this thread helps those who were as silly as I was !
Thanks - xdanewbie
To remove the yellow triangle, you need to use a USB JIG, google the term to know what I mean. There are no other ways to do the same.

PS: For those who may be interested, 4.2 case seem very expensive. I purchased this (whch is for a galaxy S2) and its a perfect fit but you need to
extended the button holes with a dremel.
