Hi, i have a problem like i said in topic title.
After connecting my phone by USB to PC and transfering some files to SD card and then disconnecting, i'm getting error "Application not installed" on some apps installed on SD card (for example Adobe Reader, Temple Run 2). The only way i figured out to solve this problem is restarting my phone... I don't want to restart my phone nearly every day, just because i needed to connect by USB cable to transfer some files :crying:
Is there any way to solve this problem?
Phone: Alcatel One Touch Idol 6030X, Android 4.1.1 - official, not rooted.
is it happening after every time you disconnect USB? if you wait some time (30-60 seconds for example) after disconnecting USB, can you run the sdcard installed apps?
Maybe your device is trying to remount its external card while you are trying to run the apps, and it's hanging on it

I remember one thing from my last LG Swift phone. When I disconnected cable i think always popped up in notification bar some text like "preparing SD card" or something like that. On this phone there is nothing like that happening.
Little refresh, anybody have some ideas?

I updated my x10 mini to 2.1 yesterday and now everytime i connect phone to PC
and click on Mount USB phone just restarts. Does anyone have the same issue?
although this is not a x10 mini thread, i experience the same problem (with my mini) after upgrade to 2.1. i wonder if it is not because you sync with "my phone explorer"... do you?
Android Commander
Use android commander to transfer files does not require putting into USB mount mode.
Or MyPhoneExplorer.
It used to do that back on the RF...014 firmware.
They seemed to like it so much, that they implemented it again!! lol!
*sent from my X10i
mine does it too. but it happens when i plug the usb cabel to the device so the software above won´t work..any solution?
When you connect phone to PC choose to "charge" after that choose "mount" no restarts
but it restarts just after i plug the cable into the device, i have no time to select one of these options
Have you tried connecting the phone with another computer, usb port or usb cable? If that doesn't work...
Have you tried connecting the cable without the sd card inside?
Try that, if it doesn't restart you know it's the sd card that's causing the problem. If you have an sd card reader (some laptops have them) put it in and copy your important files and format the sd card to fat32. You can also use the phone to format the card, but you will lose everything on the card.
Hope that helps.
thanks for your reply
but i had to flash my phone again and now i´m not having this problem anymore so far
Same thing happens to me too. Yesterday updated my X10 Mini Pro to 2.1, now the phone restarts, when mounted. I have tried on 2 computers (PC and laptop). Just now tried the suggestion to choose "Charge" and later "Mount" from status bar, seems to work
Actually, just now i remembered that this started happening not right after the update, but after i enabled Text-to-Speech or Speech-tp-Text or whatever it was. Will be trying to switch that off later.
for me the upgrade to 2.1 solved the problem...try to re-flash

I use exactly the same workaround on my X10 mini pro. This bug started after the android 2.1 upgrade. I never had it before...
It happens only when I mount the SD on Win7 and not on Ubuntu Linux: Could it be a driver issue?
EDIT: btw the issue disappeared after i uninstalled the live wallpaper

phone restarts when I mount usb pen drive to it!
My wt19i restarts some times when I mount pen drive. The mount buttun pressed and then screen turns black, then restarts. Please help me.
Try to move those apps which you use more frequently to PHONE STORAGE or kill their procces before you mount your USB...this helped me
When I plug my Atrix into a device (computer, car, etc) via USB, the SD card auto-mounts. I would like to be able to adjust when it mounts but the auto-mount isn't a huge problem. My issue is that when I unplug the phone from a device the SD card doesn't automatically remount.
Is there a way to set up the SD card to automatically remount? Is there a manual way to remount besides restarting the phone?

Did u try mounting in Settings --> SD card and storage
Yes, when I go to that menu it says, "Insert an SD card to mount". I'm not able to click "mount" because it is grayed out with the above message on it.
Any other ideas?
When u plug your phone in, there should be a USB icon @ the top of the screen. Pull that down, and select 'Do Nothing' that should clear up your problem. Always make sure you do this before unplugging your phone if it mounts the SDCard to avoid corrupting the data. Let me know if this fixed your problem.
I have the same exact issue. Selecting "None" for usb mode does nothing for me either. I have to reboot my phone just to get the SD Card and Internal storage to re-mount.
I don't know if this is related but I am also running ADEO ROM.

I'm rooted but running stock otherwise.
Selecting "none" just affects the phone's internal storage, not the SD card. Also, whenever i plug my phone into any device it automounts the SD, I'm never given an option. It is really frustrating when I just want to charge via USB and not mount my SD card.
Any other ideas? Is there an app that would solve this?
EDIT: I'm also having an issue where my PC won't let me "eject" the internal storage of the phone or the storage on the SD (drives F and G) so I have no choice but to just unplug it.
I should add that with my case my phone unmounts internal storage AND the sd card. It's to the point to where I am using adbWireless in order to push or run any other commands needed for adb.

Yeah you and I are having the exact same problems. This is really aggravating. However, I might have found a solution. In the app switchpro, you can set one of the controls (icons) to be "media remount". I have had soem limited success with it. Try it out yourself and let me know if it fixes the problem.
Thanks
I'm having the same problem. I downloaded the SwitchPro app and used the toggle mount/unmout successfully, so i don't have to restart the phone. It's a shame I had to buy an app to fix a problem with a new phone. I believe the first day of owning the phone I may have unplugged from the cpu while in media link mode for the usb connection, but since then I have it set to "none".
I am not rooted, nor am I running adeo rom as mentioned above.

OK I'm glad we've found a fix of sorts at least.
That reload media widget works for my music player. Unfortunately, my widgets (dependent on teh SD card for skins) don't reload properly liek the rest of my media does. I'm still stuck powering on and powering off every time i unplug from a device.
SD Card problem
I think I have the opposite problem. I just rooted using aRoot. Now, when plugging the phone into my computer using a USB cable, the phone says the SD card is ready to be removed. And the Media Link can't read it either. Once I unplug the phone from the computer, the SD card is able to be used by the phone.
Any ideas?

My problems started after I used aRoot as well. Unfortunately, I never really found a solutions. I've just been restarting my phone whenever i plug it in. In your case, have you tried switching it into mass storage mode after plugging it in?

I've tried every setting with no luck. All I wanted to do is add some music to my SD card. So I ended up taking the card out of the phone and inserting it directly into my computer in order to add the music. Not the best solution to the problem.
No definitely not. At least the files get transferred faster that way
Both my 32gb and 16gb give the following message after applying the 3.5 update. "Removed SD Card".
When I try to connect the TP with my computer I do not get the USB symbol. None of the programs moved to the sd card previously now work.
Please help.
BTW, when I boot into webOs and connect the TP to the computer via usb, all is well.
Hi,
Try this instruction.
When I disconnected the usb cable before i rebooted to CM7, it did not work. When I kept the usb cable connected for the reboot, it works fine for about 10 seconds and then once again says the the SD card is removed.
Running into this exact same issue.
I recently decided to move a majority of my apps (mostly games and larger files) to "SD Card" and am not sure if that is the cause for all of this. When I attempt to move the apps back to the "phone" I'm told that the apps can no longer be located (like they are stuck in some type of purgatory).
Any other suggestions besides that tutorial?

Out of curiosity, where did you find this?
When plugging my S3 with USB it only says its a portable mediaplayer and does not show whats on my SD-card, Please help!
the fact that it shows as a portable media player is normal: that's what it shows for me when it's either rooted or stock. you should be able to click on it and see 2 storage options your internal storage and the SD card.

do you have an SD card installed? maybe it's the drivers not working. try on another PC and see if it'll read.
Drivers Problem
This frequently happens to my computer so I know how you feel.
To solve this problem,
1. Go to devices and printers.
2. Click on your S3 device, it should be there.
3. Look at the bottom of the window
4. If it says that the device needs troubleshooting, right click the device and select troubleshoot.
5. Wait for troubleshooting to complete
6. Your SD Card and Phone memory should now pop up on your computer.
Unfortunately i have not been able to find a permanent workaround for this problem. So this solution has to be applied everytime you connect your phone to the pc.
Hit thanks if i helped you!
thanks guys! i got it working!
Did you use my solution to get it working?
I found when I use stock firmware that changing from connect to MTP to PTP and back again, my computer finds the phone, eventually but running an AOSP or Cyanogen the computer finds it without any problem
Hey,
if i connect my phone with my PC, i can normaly see all files,...
But if i want to copy a file from my computer to my phone (internal or external sdcard) its stock at 0%. (in system and twrp)
After a while (2-4minutes) windows says, that was an error with the transfer. After these message, the phone reboot (twrp)
I tried to reinstall the right usb drivers, tried sideload and adb push but.
i googled the problem, but i cant find something like this.
sideload says something with "cant read comand"
and push says its done (800mb file after 10sec :/ ) but there is nothing on the device.
I dont know what the problem is. the phone is from 2012 but EVERYTHING else is working fine.
sorry for my english

Did you tried with another computer ?
And if you really can't fix your problem you can also use micro sd card to transfer file.
