Our phone Canvas HD has the MTK6589 chipset, which is identical to the MTK6589-T chipset on Canvas Turbo, which is 1.7Ghz.
Refer this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2376283&page=10
I wanted to ask if there was any coder skilled enough to port the MTK6589-T kernels for Canvas HD with the clock settings up to 1.7GHz.
I found plenty of links with sources to MTK6589 and MTK6589T kernel sources, but dont know much about coding them. Some skilled developers did create an overclockable kernel for Canvas-2 Model

I think MT6589T, MT6589M source is same as MT6589. You can see codes for MT6589T here . I've changed return 3;

Because I wanted a higher clock. But after doing all that my phone just lags. I'm not any specialist in kernel and I don't know C deeply. May be some skilled people can help us.
For GPU, the same method works for some. Check this

Also if we can underclock, that is set the min CPU freq to some lower value would be great....

they both are snapdragon but they are different chipsets, the x10 runs ona qsd8250 and the play and other newer xperia models run the msm8255.
the msm8255 chipset is easier to overclock plus the newer model xperias have their bootloaders unlocked so better kernels can be implemented, the x10 has not got its bootloader unlocked but bypassed, so even though we have custom kernels we cannot fully take advantage of the hardware

newer gen processors have a much wider tolerance.
A desire z can be overclocked from 800mhz to 1.8ghz successfully
The highest our phones will ever be overclocked is around 1267mhz before they reboot automatically.
I wouldn't even suggest leaving it at this for very long, you'll fry your chip

I have a Nexus One that is identical to X10 hardware-wise, including CPU. Its tolerance for OC is about the same. This generation of Snapdragon processor is not capable of huge OCing.

i mean im pretty happy with the x10i, wen i did get it, the best android phones out was this and the htc desire, n i was coming from a satio so i wanted summat with a decent camera. i was new to the android crowd but not to xda as my 3 previous phones were windows mobile ones. im happy cos its been updated to 2.3.3, i dnt do a huge amount of gaming as i know the x10 isnt really the best device for it, with its lack of multitouch and buggy dual touch. buh hey my upgrades due in 6 months and theres gna b some bad ass phones out by then so i dnt mind chilling with my trusty x10, and plus the devs do wonders wit this.
its not the same chipset...

Arc : Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset / GPU : Adreno 205 GPU

2.is it possible to overclock msm7227T to 1GHz in near future with stability? because its predecessor msm7227 which 600MHz by stock can be oc to 750-800Mhz
is it possible to msm7227T to oc or its only be oc to 864-921MHz??

I don't see what the need to overclock the phone is? Are you trying to run Call Of Duty on it? Ketut's OC kernel will take you to just over 900mhz. Any higher and your device will reboot.
If your SGA is slow, chances are you need to free up a little more RAM. Not everything is attributed to the CPU speed.
All it'll do is give you slightly better benchmark scores (who cares) and sap your battery quicker.
Hope that didn't sound too condescending btw =S

Is Geekbench an accepted Benchmark? How accurate is it? The scores seem to be all over the place with the Nexus 7 with the crappy tegra 3 beating the GS3 in one test while the GS3 beating it in another. Don't really trust it if the results change on the fly like that. haha

I'm getting 1854, 1574, 1292 respectively for 4, 3 and 2 cores. So the final score doesn't seem to scale that well with cores, which is obvious consindering there's single-core performance tests.
Here's the Exynos [email protected] 1Ghz with only 2 cores for a clock-for-clock comparison;

The A6 clearly and undisputedly has the upper hand here. The score may be lower but we're talking about vast IPC and frequency disparities here. The Cortex's are getting slaughtered in memory bandwidth.
And here's a 1704MHz bench for the hell for it: 2283 score.
Would be interesting if somebody with a Krait phone would run it at 1GHz and stock frequency respectively.
I hit 1800 at stock on Jelly bean Omega rom V26.
I might try and clock this phone and see what happens

Any benchmark tool will be 'all over the place' depending on what is running in the background. Yes, you can turn off wireless, BT, data etc., but apps will still be launching and closing in the background which will affect the score. After all, these are supposed to be multitasking devices aren't they ?
Also, it's an inaccurate score if you actually go and forcibly disable system apps that would be running on a stock device, just to get a faster score.
Best way to use ANY benchmark tool is to get the device as near to stock as you can (consider a rom flash / data reset followed by very basic config) and then run the test a few times and take an average score. When I run benchmarks (Antutu, Quadrant, Geekbench), my results are often 'all over the place', so if I go with just one test, it would be luck of the draw really.
That said, my average score on S3 stock, rooted, unclocked in Geekbench 2.3.4 is 1586.
Funnily, when overclocked, the average was 1537
im on official (unofficial ) jellybean im updating to the latest leak now then i will come back with results that rape apple a6 cpu hard and in the arse
1830 at stock is my best so far without optimising anything other than a reboot.
The scores are higher on everything other than Memory Performance which is where Apple have beefed up the SoC.

This benchmark tests a combination of single and multi-threaded tasks. So obviously it will be all over the place when comparing an A9 quad-core phone to an A15 or Krait dual core phone. The phones also run differently clocked/speed memory, so tasks which are memory intensive would give a higher score to phones with faster memory.

Yes it's made for 1-1,2GHz, but you need a custom kernel. The thing I would like to see more than overclocking are some more governors and schedulers.
The overclocking will gets more power from the battery or ?
[sorry for my bad english, I hope someone understand me ]
we need someone to create a custom kernel for our phone. without custom kernel, we cant overclock our phone.
but i dont see any reason yet to overclock, the current frequency are fast enough for me even for gaming. unless you have a very slow phone, 1ghz single core processor and below it would be good.
i used to overclock a lot on my single core processor phone from 1ghz to 1.2-1.8ghz frequency. of course the higher frequency you're on the more risk you are gonna damage the cpu of your phone and battery because of overheat. from 1ghz, overclocking to 1.2-1.4ghz is safe.
underclocking would be a smart idea though to save battery.
the main reason custom kernel are needed for me are to use some governors and schedulers to save battery or performance.
Thanks guys! Oh, and could someone explain or post a link to a guide on overclocking?
