Recently I switched to T-Mobile and brought over my Verizon Galaxy S4. I am on VRUAME7 and installed safestrap and the google play edition rom with the vruemj7 modem since VRUAME7 doesn't support Band 4 and VRUEMJ7 has Knox and no safestrap support. The LTE is working now, but I can't connect to wifi. I have unlimited data so this isn't terrible, but sometimes I need the extra speed. I didn't install the ME7 modules so that might be the problem. I will edit this if this is the problem.
EDIT: I was able to fix the problem by installing the me7 modules right over everything and my baseband stayed on mj7.

Since Verizon boot-loader MJ7 can't be unlocked and custom recovery can't be installed, have anyone tried so called "dirty installation" of a Custom ROM over the existing Official Verizon firmware?
I have Verizon I545VRUEMJ7 and I am particularly looking for the ROM with Wi-Fi Calling feature (lousy connection at home). I switched to Family-Mobile who's hanging on T-Mobile network, so T-Mobile wi-fi calling should work for me.
Does anyone have experience to flash any Custom ROMs over Verizon I545VRUEMJ7 without a custom recovery (CWM of TWRP) installed. Should be data cleaned up first, some apps maybe disabled or deleted, like KNOX, or Verizon security for instance. Any advices?

Since the bootloader is locked, you can not flash custom firmware. If Hashcode gets Safestrap working on MJ7, you may be able to flash a ROM that does what you want, but not today.
I recently switched to T-Mobile and to make my Verizon Galaxy S4 work on the network I had to install safestrap and use the MJ7 baseband, however I drop off the network quite often and in addition, I often switch out of GSM/LTE mode quite often from phone info. Safestrap has been ported to MJ7 and MK2, but MJ7 seems more stable for ROMs. I wanted to know how I can perform the update to MJ7 instead of MK2 (and how to update without the Verizon SIM if possible) and whether I could use the T-Mobile patch for Hyperdrive on my phone to make it work better on the T-Mobile network
I'm normally one to be able to do research on my own, but i'm deployed and on a satalite internet connection that is slower than what is considered acceptable by even the old 56k standards, so I come here for help.
In a few weeks i'm going to be hitting port again and I'd like to update my phone from Hyperdrive 14 into the new hottness HD 17. Every guide that I've found online for the installation of HD17 says that it needs to be NC5, or at least MK2 baseband install. I'm currently on MJ7.
Do I need to update from MJ7 to MK2, and then to NC5 just to install HD 17? Or can I just update from MJ7 to NC5 and install HD17. As far as the end of the NC5 upgrade guide, what is the point of reverting from NC5 to MK2? Just lots of questions - I'm also fairly new to SafeStrap - the way that I understand it, only the stock rom slot is working; could I just install HD17 and forgo the NC5 install, or is this mandatory?
Thanks for the info in advance. You've all helped me out lot.
yup, gotta be on nc5 to use any kitkat-based Safestrap ROM
also sorry about the internet, might want to try tethering using the phone. sounds like 4G will be a lot faster than what you have right now haha

No you do not need to upgrade to MK2 from MJ7 before installing HD 17.1
If you use Surge's instructions you can upgrade everything but your bootloader to NC5 and that way, if you ever needed to downgrade, you still can.
Here is his method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2726868
Then once you have NC5 installed, follow instructions from HD thread to get to 17.1
Awesome. I'll give this a shot once I get to port, and to an internet connection. I was very confused as to the point of Surge's post - why not just flash NC5 and be done with it - But that's awesome, able to keep my MJ7 bootloader with all the benefits of NC5 firmware. Thanks for the info and the help!
Hopefully this will happen soon - Never really know when we'll pull in. I'll reply when it happens though! Thanks again!
maybe i've missed it tried searching high and low. I have a verizon s4 4.2.2. Build KOT49h.I545VRUF NK1. T mobile needs 4.4.4 and verzion never made 4.4.4 or it was quickly pulled i havent fount it i get everything except lte it shows up on the phone but when i connect to google i get a DNS error T-mobile told me they are up to 4.4.4. upgrading to lolipop will **** up everything. I know I have seen a caynogen mod that is 4.4.4 for verzion so all i need is root. has NK1 been hacked. towelroot wont work, Super su is just blocked from knox
My only idea and SO i heard is to use ADB and connect and delete knox one at a time all files. then downgrade, I tried ADB but my phone wouldnt connect dont know if I did something wrong but this "world phone" give me lte bars with t-mobile but i cant get lte without root or 4.4.4. phone and text is ok havent tried mms but because its tied to data I doubt it would work any advice or help for this old device? :good::crying:

Verizon's 4.4.4 was nc5. You can not go back to Cyanogen mod. Your best bet is to go to Stang's LP ROM, since that is lolipop.
note: I am on nc5 4.4.4
Cracked my screen on my rooted S4 which was running Hyperdrive and was given a friend's old S4 that has 5.0.1 on it. I rooted with Kingoroot and I'm still running the stock rom, which I don't have a problem with. I would like to use my phone as a hotspot by hitting the hotspot icon but I have Verizon's unlimited data plan and when I click on the icon it says I'd have to pay a subscription fee. I can use FoxFi but I don't like dealing with the extra step - just wondering if there's a way to easily fix this by flashing a module or if it really requires a full rom flash. I haven't even looked into custom roms that run 5.0.1, but I really don't mind the stock one. Flashed the OF1 tether module but still getting the subscription screen. Any advice?
