Right now I have a problem with my IMEI on my S3.
I was on the leaked 4.3 but the performance wasnt that nice, so I downgraded my phone again to 4.1.2.
Now my IMEI Number changed to 0049, and I do not have any EFS backup.
I also read similar topics like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264021 but nothing fixed my problem
I heard that it's possible to create a flashable zip and flash it again, but I dont know how to do it.

no backup of the efs is difficult to recover the imei. 4.3 or try to re-flash a modem mg4 or higher. maybe you are lucky and recuepras imei. but you can try with kies, being a rom 4.0.4, .4.1.1 or 4.1.2 and expect to be updated, in some cases I've seen so solve it.

Hello, i have one big problem. It'a about my brother S3. He rooted his phone and flash him with Turkbey rom, everthing worked fine, but today he downloaded wrong rom, he downloaded rom for VERZION S3 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1934572 ), after flash old Turbbey rom was booted insted of new one, now phone don't recognizes SIM card, and there is not IMEI number and BASEBAND number.
I search on forum and found something about efs, he has some efs backup but i dont know can it solve this problem.
Can someone explain to me did he bricked device and can is there a way to solve this problem?
I hope you will help me, thanks in advance!!!

I am in the same boat as you only with my GS3 LTE version. If you still have the box to get the IMEI from or look under the battery you might be able to restore your imei using an nv writer http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804117
Try to do a full wipe then reflash the stock rom with odin.

1st i was on liquidsmooth.. then got back to stock.. the i flashed the latest jellybam rom,, when i flashed the jellybam.. it didnt work.. so decided to restore back to stock again.. then i realised that i dont have signal on my phone anymore.. i research then i learned that its imei issue.. so i checked my imei and its 0049 which accdng to the post i read is fake or incorrect

the stock you flashed was the MG4?
If its the MG4 u must flash it again and stay with mg4 modem.

i actually forgot.. what i remember is i download a stock rom using the galaxy s3 toolkit.. the stock is i9300xxella then it update for 3 times.. one more thing i actually deleted my efs folder too, when i did a message always pops up on my phone with my phone infos on it,, lockscreen not working and when i press power it automatically turns off.. ITS SO MESSED UP..
then i asked my friend to comeover so i can copy his EFS when i did, the pop up goes away and lockscreen works again, but still imei is a PROBLEM.. I ALMOST GIVE UP :crying:

i have encountered EFS been wiped, IMEI changed to 0000, no network detected after upgrade from 4.1.2 to 4.3 (I9300XXDXUGMK3).
i have tried anything that could helped such as flash MG4 modem, MK1 modem, MK6 modem but still the same. i cant try ARIZA PATCH because OS version is I9300XXDXUGMK3 not MG rom.
I need helps from someone that could bring back their network & IMEI return back. thx in advanced!:good:

thx for your reply. i have checked that as well before come and posting here ask for helps. unfortunately, i have not backup the EFS folder as i thought the 4.3 update was safe without backup the EFS. any good idea to bring back the network & IMEI by flashing any modem? thx for understanding n helping!!!
If you've tried the sticky thread then you'll need a repair centre, go for a reputable one with right tools to enable 4.3 to work properly. Cheaper repairs downgrade the phone then use patches.
Your thread will probably be locked as it duplicates hundreds of other identical ones.
Post your question in the thread link I gave you it well be answered better.

I tried to flash a stock rom via odin but there's the same problem.
Imei is still fine.
I flashed 4.1.2 with modems and it works now. but i cant flash 4.3 without get this error? WHY?!
the whole stroy is: I changed IMEI in laboratory (they changed it to s2 imei, if this is important), because the Imei didn't work and after that I was trying reflash the SAME rom (HD Revolution) with full wipe and then get this network error.
What I tried:
reflash HD Revolution 51.0 with network error then flashed MG4 Modem that downloaded from somewhere then flashed zuluman patch and get null imei.
flashed stock 4.3 via odin>rooted>flashed custom 4.1.2(Gorgoid rom)+modems (XXDME4, DDEMG2)-didnt work>flashed MG4 Patch again>works.
How can I flash a 4.3 rom without get problems? I'M SICK OF IT!
*sorry for bad english, but pls need ur help guys i cant stick with 4.1.2 :S

SIM Card is not being read by the ROM. I am new to the modding scene and I'd like a clear explanation on how I could fix this problem.

I don't know what an IMEI is, but I firstly came from a normal rooted 4.1.2 firmware. It was a stock FW. But now, I use a " aokp_i9300_kitkat_nightly_2014-01-14 ". I'm switching around ROMs to experiment, and I seem to love the S5 ROM except that the mobile network won't work.
I've seen this as a solution ""If you don't have reception (no signal), here's a quick explanation: THANKS TO S0ul_
It means you flashed a new modem over the MG4 one. It's not a bug, that's because Samsung has changed the format of the EFS partition with the MG4 baseband and now the older modems (MC2, etc) can't read the IMEI from the EFS, hence the failure to register your phone in your carrier's network.
To fix this issue you need only to install MG4 modem from aroma installer"
But I do not know how to apply it on my phone.

You had to backup your EFS partition/folder before, try to search in sdcard if there is folder or file like efs_backup, efs.bak, efs.zip, efs.tar.gz etc maybe aroma did it.

No. It won't let me. I changed my ROM to aokp_i9300_kitkat_nightly_2014-01-14 for now.

Stop to flash any other rom. first try to search for that file or folder because the first rom you installed uses AROMA and MAYBE it did a efs backup, otherwise try to flash a pre MG4 modem to fix signal.

Don't flash or do anything else like restore an efs back until you guve more info.
You have not answered my question above. Is it only mobile internet you have issues with? Can you still use wifi, make calls, receive calls, send and receive texts? If you can do all of that your efs should be fine and it points to apn issues which can get mixed up when flashing roms.

You need to read up on efs thread before giving such info, flashing a pre mg4 modem will solve nothing as it can only read efs V1, if he has indeed corrupted the efs then nothing will be able to read it.
What I think you ment was flash mg4 or above which can read V2 but this is only required if using 4.1.2 or an early 4.3 which no one should be using these days.
