the only way to really change this is if you have root - are you rooted?

Nope, no secret codes. As previously stated, use Voodoo LOUDER, or try some equalizers ans ram everything up, but that'll probably give crap sound quality.

Do you know any programs that can boost headphone volume? I tried every app in the market.

Voodoo louder work just fine.
I have heard that the Beats audio (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1728391) works for some and distorts for others. I was able to get it to install but haven't really tested it.

I messed with the volume using xxTweak on Ktoonsez's fluxx and ended up destroying sound on my phone calls. I got it back after resetting to default, fixing permissions and rebooting but I've been reluctant to mess with settings without knowing how I messed them up the first time. Not sure what corresponds to what in the options.

Max volume on S2 is way too low, and the easiest solution for me was to use Voodoo Louder from Play market, but it's not a free app (you install a free app that will test compatibility and then you have to buy a license file to use it, and your phone has to be rooted).
Dorimanx kernel had the loudest sound

It wasnt always like that, and besides, why is there no difference AT ALL between the max volume and 7 levels below that?

Does it work with slim 3.1.0
It's a known bug in headset, you'll reach max volume at halfway.
Dorimanx 7.4.2 should be good for you and has headphone power and separate gain adjustment.
You won't really get any more out of the stock speaker though it's not great.

I had the same problem with Ressurection Remix 3.1.2 with CM10 kernel, and volume was really low... I'm on the leaked JB now (NeatRom Lite 4.0) and volume change all the way to max, but still a bit too low, and Voodoo Louder fixed max volume both in RR and NeatRom.
I would have tried the Dorimanx kernel if I knew it fixed the volume...
im using ExTweaks or STweaks for sounds boost

hi
the first versions of mxplayer had a possibility to increase the sound above the predefined highest level, which it was effective in some musics and videos, but there were also media files of which the loudness didn't improved.

Does zv8 fix the low volume issues?
Its sounds a little better but not by much. My set up is zv8 with a modified mixer path. Use viper4android to control the volume output.
