So I just got my unlock code for my phone so I can use any carrier while traveling, but my phone is rooted. Does that mean I have to unroot in order to enter the code? When I try to click the UICC unlock tab in settings menu, it gives me a error saying that it could not connect. Anyone know anything about this?

my phone is rooted as well but on stock ROM. Sprint does not give an unlock code ,they send unlock over the air. theoretically you shouldn't even need to click the UICC unlock. once Sprint told me it's unlocked, i was able to insert MTS (Russia) SIM ,and the phone no longer complains about "invalid SIM" in notification tray. if you on custom ROM, you might need to go to stock if the menu is broken, otherwise root should not matter.
Did you try to use different SIM?

Hey I just did the restore to the ORIGINAL ROM, but I lost my phone UNLOCK and I cant use it with my actual SIM card, I used the Galaxy_S_Unlock to unlock my phone and I have a folder name "Galaxy_S_Unlock" in my internal memory. What do i have to do? Unlock the cellphone again like if it were a brand new phone or do I have to copy something from my folders? Thank you.
Okay you had it sim unlocked? To my understanding once its unlocked its always unlocked but if that's not the case just repeat the procedure. You might have to go to settings and select your carrier.

I thought the same, but when I start my phone a legend appears and says "Network Lock... (dismiss)"
but if that's not the case just repeat the procedure. You might have to go to settings and select your carrier.

When I select my actual network it says "UNable to select network, select automatically"

ok thanks,i will give thanks all for reply my question.
The phone comes with the sim unlocked. You can use it with another carrier's sim card without any extra steps. (You may need to verify compatility of the radios/frequencies).
There is a second lock on the phone - the bootloader. You will see many threads regarding unlocking the bootloader, as well as "rooting" - getting superuser access. Unlocking the bootloader has nothing to do with the sim. Unlocking/locking the bootloader will not affect the sim card lock (or lack thereof).
It is, and always will be(unless Verizon tries to update it and lock it down), sim unlocked. So you can use any sim in it.
But it is not boot loader unlocked stock. You have to do that yourself.

I got a new phone and activated it before I unrooted and relocked my rezound. Is there a way to relock the bootloader and unroot without it being activated? When I try to do the adb reboot bootloader command it tells me the device is offline. So maybe this means I have to re-activate and then send it back to stock?
Thanks.

Pretty sure you can just pop the SIM from the new phone in the old one and its active again... The SIM is what's activated, not the phone itself.

Doesn't the phone have to be complete stock when you do the unlock code? Once you unlock the SIM and put your new SIM in then you unlock the bootloader and do your root. Not sure but it could be the reason.

Hmm. Im stock just rooted and bootloader unlocked. I dnt think that would affect the unlocking procedure. But then again, im unsuccessful so far. I will try to revert to complete stock. And try the code again. Also should i revert back to jellybean? Or kitkat fine?

I would think as long as it is stock the version would not matter.

ok. i downloaded an RUU file. legit and with matching MD5. when i run it it asks to update to 4.20.502.1 ....from my 4.18.502.7. should i stay away from upodating it to 4.20.502.1 ....or its ok?
update: i have reverted back to stock 4.4.2
i removed s-off and locked the bootloader. and RUUed the 4.4.2 update.
but i am still getting incorrect code.
so frustrating.
I'm in the same boat. All stock kit Kat. Unlocked boot and rooted. If I figure it out will post here & would do like wise.

Cellunlocker.net does a freakin awesome job!
I am moving to Taiwan next month and I wanted to unlock my phone to be able to use SIM cards from their carriers there. I am planning to call Sprint to have them do it for me OTA but I just wanted to check on a couple things first.
1. If I decide to install a custom ROM after Sprint does the SIM unlock, will it "break" the unlock? I'm not exactly clear on what controls the locking of the SIM card so I just want make sure I know what to avoid doing to my phone in order to keep the phone unlocked for international use.
2. If I cancel my Sprint service and only use the phone on an international carrier will the SIM unlock stick? I'm assuming it would but I just want to make sure because of my ignorance of how this whole SIM unlocking thing works.
Thanks in advance, any insight about this topic would be greatly appreciated!
The ssu app will work if your on KK.
Once it's unlock it stays unlocked.

Thanks for the link! I think I'll try going the free route first and have Sprint unlock it for me. If I end up running into any problems in the future with flashing ROMs, it's good to know that there's an app I can buy to keep it unlocked.
