Need some guidance to downgrade without root - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Hello all hope somebody will give me proper guidance and links of threads.
Just got my Xperia ultra today it is United Kingdom (GB) model number C6833 with Build number 14.2.A.0.290
I am very new to Sony Xperia phones, have bit experience in rooting HTC, Archos, Samsung but Xperia is new to me.
I did some research and found it is only possible to root 290 firmware with Unlocked bootloader. Here is the problem start I don't want to loose my DRM keys by unlocking bootloader, wanted to have backup of TA partition before I unlock my bootloader if I needed in case. I can't backup without Root so I am stuck and confused what to do? Is it possible to downgrade to other firmware to root my Xperia ultra then I can backup my DRM keys. Also found some posts by users saying if you downgrade from 290 you loose IMEI so is there any solution?
your help and guidance will be highly appreciated.

Follow the top sticky in this section.
Imei isn't a problem if you go back to 290 ftf, and even if you don't there are solutions.

You can revert back and will probably loose imei. But you will still be able to root and backup your TA that is intact. And from there use any ROM you want.

Only way to root a LTE version currently is to unlock the bootloader. Remember if you unlock you loose mobile Bravia Engine 2,permanently.

Yes. If you have .253 you will not be able to root with a locked bootloader currently. You have to unlock to root.
Have a look in this forum. Other people have asked the same question.

Yes if you have root. But you don't. It is a catch 22. To get root you need to unlock. When you unlock you loose the keys. The user users on the phone, The Xperia Z also have tha same issue but they can downgrade and then root, backup keys unlock bootloader and restore keys. Well that is how I understand it.

OK.. So first of all backup you ta (Ta controls your bravia engine) here is thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598 unlock bootloader with fashtool (fashtool is easiest way) To relock just restore Ta (remember not to restore it on custom rom) that all.... And if you don't know.. you don't need to unlock bootloader to flash stock rom...

Z Ultra GPE Root update and Ta Back up

Now from what I understand there is no root method for this device just as yet now my question is how different is the Sony branded Z Ultra from the GPE version besides android version. I all's know that root is needed to back up the TA partition so is there a work around for your our device.

The GPe version doesn't have the same type of TA partition as the Xperia model AFAIK, but you still have to unlock the boot loader of the GPe to root it.

That I understand but how is the back up of the ta partition made is root is required to relock the boot loader

You can't backup TA. You root, you lose.
Or you can downgrade (the Xperia model if that's the one you have) to 532, root it, backup TA, update to 290 and lose root, unlock the bootloader and root it again. The difference this time is that you'll have the TA backup. It's a helluva way of doing it, but it's your only option right now.

Nope, you can't do that with the GPe. Root it and lose it. It's as simple as that (for now).
Thanks for the info but I don't think the recovery is stable for the GPE its still testing and I'm not looking for a brick right now can afford another device right now so I'll just wait

@hamdogg? I've not watched that one... comments? but I think it for unlocked BL only
If you can unlock the BL life is simple (even easier if you dont want to keep the DRM/TA partition)

No not really i dont think. I did this to my wifes t-mobile z with current firmware and locked bootloader and was fine. There is 2 downloades you do. you can download the installer which is for windows and then the flasher which you do in recovery after you have rooted and installed recovery from the installer. Very easy to use.

but still i need to make sure that :-
1. i don't end up with Bricked device and
2. if i install root via recovery it will work.
Thanx
Bro tried this method yesterday. Cmd ended up saying
Your device is not supported..... Are u sure u did it with .136 fw coz its not working for this fw. Or else can you tell me which file exactly u used.
And if it doesn't work then downgrade and do all that jazz.

[Q] How to get root on Lollipop without unlocking BL?

Hi
I'm a new user of Z2 D6503. I have the newest Android Lollipop, 23.1.A.0.726.
I'd like to get root without unlocking Bootloader and I don't want to downgrade software via Flashtool because I've had some problems with flashtool with my Z3 Tablet Compact.
Is there any way to root Z2 without unlocking bootloader and without downgrade? Any tools/rootkits etc?

Just ignore the warnings.. Great advice there. Here is a link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60709899
