I wanted to begin making CM themes for earning some bucks on Google Play, so I searched Google, XDA, and Cyanogenmod forums on a tutorial on how to do this. I found one, and began theming. While testing, I found out that the template and tutorial was for CM10, not CM11, so I continued on searching. After searching all android-related forums I could find, I found that all tutorials for making themes were too old. Therefore, I made this thread on XDA. Well, the question is; Can anyone send me a template, give me a short tutorial, or at least point me in the right direction? This might also be helpful for other people looking to make themes.
Edit: Link to CM11 template is to be found in post 3 for anyone who wants it.

I have been searching here and ppcgeeks trying to find how to make cab files. I want to learn how to make .cabs to edit registry values, things of that nature.

Thanks.
PPC Installation Creator works pretty good.

Excellent replies, thank you both. This is the kind of info I was looking for. I tried to post and search in the development forum, but kept getting errors. I get the feeling that they dont want new guys like me cluttering the forum.
Hard to search when you don't know what to search for.

I went to search this forum (in the android section), typed in resource (well I cheated kind of since I knew the code word to use ) and this was the third link to show up. First was the kitchen (which most tutorials use), Second was an advice thread that had some links to resources, and this one was one that I also had bookmarked and has good info.
Honestly I'd say take a day to just read through (atleast scan through and just read the titles) of every thread in the Android chef section... Then you'll know which ones to bookmark and save to read for later reference.
(If this comes off as me being an ass, I'm sorry, I'm kind of buzzed and just trying to keep it short and simple lol).
Can someone tell me where can I find tutorials and books for programming Android Apps? I already installed Eclipse and now I need to read something that will help me how to begin the programming. I know some Java programming and know I need to learn how to apply it in developing Android Apps. I need some sources other than developer.android.com
Here's a tutorial:
http://www.vogella.de/articles/Android/article.html
Also, you can always use Google:
https://www.google.com/search?q=android development tutorial
Or even YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=android+development+tutorial
to find tutorials.
thenewboston on youtube. best tutorials ever. for java beginners and for android programming. i have a subscription to lynda.com and thenewboston is much better. fyi.

Hi, I'm having a hard time working within Eclipse and getting started. I'm used to Visual Studio and thought I could start writing code, debug and go.
What I've done so far is downloaded Eclipse for android developer tools, and started downloading a bunch of plug ins for different versions under the Android SDK. I have downloaded many sdk build-tools, but I'm unsure how to compile and debug (the equivalent of hitting F5 in VS) so I can see what my application previews as and test it.
Can someone help me get to the point where I can write code and test/debug it visually? I've installed API's 14-20.
Thanks for reading.
I watched the video here
http://www.xda-developers.com/xda-t...-1-setting-up-eclipse-and-android-sdk-xda-tv/
trying to resolve this on my own, still no luck. Is there anyone who can get my setup, so I can stat building Hello World projects?
Here is what I am seeing with the most basic application for "my first app"
I can't post a screen capture because of lack of number of posts, but here is the link with some spaces

You most likely never got an answer as you provided no real troubleshooting info like IS version, how you installed it and where. Also there are many tut know the site about setting up eclipse. Best bet might be looking in the theme threads as that is what it is used for primarily. Also might check the google developers page. You have to remember this is not a support forum. Basic questions like this most of the time will go unanswered
Hey guys!
I searched for this topic and couldn't find it, but I also apologize as I might just be incapable of locating it if there already is one...
I've installed some themes lately from this forum, but they all display as Trial themes ONLY on my system - I don't seem to be able to apply them permanently... am I missing something?

To post a theme, or app, on XDA, a free version for members must be posted as well. So if you encounter trials that expire, or free versions of anything that are basically useless, please report them and moderators will handle it. :good:
Edit: If you mean completely free themes show up on your device as trials, all free themes, then disregard the above. That's another story.
