[Q] RECOVERY Hotkey...??!! DEVELOPERS PLZ Help - Samsung Galaxy 5 I5500

To All Galaxy 5 developers,
Please, sensiorly leave your replies here, about this issue. Can't we modify our galaxy 5's BOOTLOADER and just enable hotkey functionality for recovery (just as there is one for Download mode vol down+select+power)?
I want a permanant hotkey. Not the temporary one that disappears after a data wipe.
There are total three hotkey functions on our Galaxy 5:-
1)Hard Reboot (Vol. Up + Power)
2)Download mode (FOR ODIN)
3)ARM11 boot mode (useless for us)
NOW, Almost all of the Galaxy 5 users are in need of the 4th Hotkey functionality,
That is Recovery hotkey (If possible to create then we can set it as Vol. Up+select+power)
It is found in cheaper devices than our Galaxy 5 also (like Galaxy y, Galaxy star, etc.). Just an issue with our Galaxy 5 is that it was launched earlier than these devices.
So, finally I want to know, if it is really possible to edit bootloader (or boot.img also may work) to enable a Recovery hotkey
OR
Is it a totally hardware based and cannot be enabled by us?
Plzz leave your knowledgeable replies here.
I really need this...Plzz tell me the truth.
Thanks in advance.

It works. But what about bootloop situations and many such others?

a developer named nEnd in madteam has already did Recovery Hot Key. It also worked fine in CM7 to 10. but he lost his mobile and stopped the development. If someone else can take that project to their hands and develops for CM11, it will be very helpful.

I told I want a permanent hotkey. The one by nEnd gets vanished after a data wipe.

Nobody knows how to unlock the bootloader of our device.
We can't get a permanent hotkey until somebody unlocks it.

[Q] CWM Recovery for A13-MID

Can anyone help me get set up with CWM recovery on my generic A13-MID tablet? I have been searching forums and google for quite a while and have not found the information I am looking for. I have a 7" tablet running Android 4.0.3 (rooted). I have installed plenty of custom roms, etc on my droid phone, but I am new to the tablet and with a knock-off device, I am really struggling to find the info I need. One obstacle is that for physical buttons I only have a Volume +/- and Power (no back button), but I have read that people have installed CWM with touch capabilities instead of having to use the physical keys. I just really want to be able make a nandroid backup of my current working system...any thoughts??? Thanks!

Thank you, I will give it a go later today. The only other thing that concerns me is the lack of a Back button on my tablet. Do you think I'm going to run into problem while in CWM without the ability to hit a Back button?
Thanks!

Just flashed CWM per your instructions - very nice! Only other question I have is how to get to CWM manually (not form novo7tools) when the tablet is off...I tried the usual Volume Up + Power, but I get nothing.

just press the power button with volume up for 5 to 8 seconds the release the power button !
I actually can't get it to boot to CWM with the hardware buttons...not sure what's going on, but hopefully I won't get to the point where I need to do that.
try with volume down button !
did you have any problems installing the usb drivers, if not can you post the drivers you used as I have tried downloading drivers and my device is not being recognised
I already installed the novo7 tool and did the instructions posted on the link given, still it didn't able to enter in the recovery mode, and all I got is a android logo lying down with a red triangle icon with a "!" inside it.

[Q] Casio G'zone Commando Custom ROM

Hello. Maybe some of you have heard of a certain phone known as the Casio G'zone Commando. It is rugged phone from Verizon, and I think it is time that someone develops a custom rom. Even with all of the bloat uninstalled, it still freezes up every once and awhile. This phone isn't very popular, so not many people have tried a get a custom rom on it. Through my research, this is what I found out: The Commando doesn't have a way to get into a recovery menu (there is no key combanation) However, I know that Getitnowmarketing has posted a working recovery on androidforums.com, but you still need to hook it up to a computer to use it. So what does this have to do with custom roms? Also, what is a bootloader, and how would I unlock it on the Commando?? I really need some help. If no one will volunteer, I may just try to pull this off, but first, I am gonna need some education on custom roms and technical android stuff. Thank you!
I have been fooling around with the commando as well, and have found that if you have it connected to your laptop and while booting up you press the power+camera+vol down buttons it will pull up a hard reset screen. During this time I also had Odin3 v1.70 and it shows under the ID:COM - 0:[COM51] highlighted in yellow. Could we at this point download custom firmware, or possibly root?
Any help would be appreciated!

That's very interesting! I think this means that there is a way to recover your phone if something goes wrong!
Unfortunately, I still don't know if this is enough. Somehow we need to get an expert to help answer our questions...
Hopefully one of our devs will be a real sweetheart and get ICS rolling on this device.
There are there no known ICS ROMs for this device???
No, there is not an ICS or JB rom for this device. I don't know if it would be able to run stock JB and ICS well considering it is 800 mhz (I've heard somewhere the recommended ICS speed is 1 ghz), but overclocking is always an option (I think overclocking is easier on custom roms). Also, JB or ICS may run better on it with some customization.
But either way, a custom rom, whether it be based on Android 4.x or 2.x would be great! I would learn how to do things like unlocking the bootloader and making custom roms, but time is an issue for me. I just wish there was a dev out there willing to do this. I would even consider donating!

Yeah I actually realized his is the 4g one neither version seems to have very much support of any kind I wonder if it would be possible to take the ics rom off the new one and make it work on the old one but that is far beyond my scope most I can get is a file dump from the 4g the rest would have to be left to much more capable hands lol all I can even find on the 4g version is rooting it

I've found a few methods to root it. You just need adb and google lol
My dad has the original commando, and his upgrade is in April. It's a ways off, but I may be able to make a port of CM for it from my OG droid CM7 rom since they are similar. I'm not sure yet, since I've never tried making a CM port before, but I'll give it a shot after I get my new phone and customize it around the same time. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to release a stable port for it.

No service after flashed jelly blast

Hi all,
Just flashed the jellyblast rom onto my s5830i, it's all working except I've got no signal/service.
I've been reading around and found that I might have to install a radio? If so, does anyone have any help as to which one?
Any help much appreciated, or if you need more info please ask.
Cheers,
Jack.

Well I'm using jelly blast no problem... I'm guessing you're using 3.0.5 (latest) did you first flash 3.0.4? If not i suggest going back to stock then 3.0.4 then .5
You might of had some random conflict if you flashed from another custom ROM to Jelly Blast
Also what do you mean radio?
The app? That's included in Jelly Blast, well it is in 3.0.4 (that's what I'm using)
Oh and apparently I'm now meant to tell people to ask questions and stuff in the sticky thread (The one by "iamareebjamal"), or post this in the jelly blast thread to help keep the general section free from spam
The usual Xx James xX only on mobile (XDA Premium)
I think you've lost your IMEI (don't worry it's not lost, this rom somehow can't read your IMEI number). Please check your IMEI number by using *#06# on call screen.
If you can't see your IMEI number, install GalaxyToolbox and check the IMEI from there. If you can see the IMEI from GalaxyToolbox, it means IMEI is still there but rom can't read it.
Please install any other rom. (you can/should backup your IMEI by using GalaxyToolbox before doing anyting on your system)

Thanks for bricking my phone.....
it doesn't work my phone can't go into CMW or boot now i would be extremely grateful for some help please.
@jrtbing, lets dig some graveyard mate, shall we First of all jellyBlast was band from XDA ages ago ( not to be mention there are far more sophisticated stable Rom @ Dev sub forum)
As for your problem goes, please remove your battery for ~1 Minute ( don't make any difference though, just for discharging purposes ).
put it back and try press and hold the Volume Up + Home keys and then long press the Power key till the start up screen with “Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i″ logo blinks for two times and you see your desired recovery screen.
If the combo keys provided don't be effective ( due to possible boot loop, corruption of your partitions; kernel ,,etc,,etc,,) we need to check your download mode by pushing (Volume(+) + Volume(-) + Power) simultaneously ,, still no use,, You probably hard-bricked your device mate. USB jig might be your last solution to force your device get into Download mode, nothing will be guaranteed though.

[Q] any way of installing new firmware whe home button broken

just a quick question...
i had previously installed lightening rom on my samsung galaxy s2 gt-i9100. recently i wished to upgrade to jellybean however as my home button is broken/recently stopped working i cannot enter into recovery mode to use odin. kies does not recognise the os so it will not allow any upgrades.
could anyone advise me on any options i might have, im new to all this so i would really appreciate some assistance from the more knowledgeable members on this site. is there any way of breaking into the recovery/download mode without having to go thru the power/volume down/home key route?
thanks in advance for any assistance
Yes there's ways of booting into download mode. I'd advise against it though. Why? Because messing with the software with no escape route is playing with fire. If something goes wrong and you need the key combo to boot into recovery to factory reset, you're toast.
Moral of the story, get the hardware repaired before you continue to mess with the software.

just a quick question...
i had previously installed lightening rom on my samsung galaxy s2 gt-i9100. recently i wished to upgrade to jellybean however as my home button is broken/recently stopped working i cannot enter into recovery mode to use odin. kies does not recognise the os so it will not allow any upgrades.
could anyone advise me on any options i might have, im new to all this so i would really appreciate some assistance from the more knowledgeable members on this site. is there any way of breaking into the recovery/download mode without having to go thru the power/volume down/home key route?
thanks in advance for any assistance

Adb reboot recovery?
And there's a home button fix for certain kernels..

Hopper is right, 'messing' with the phone with busted hardware is asking for a 116gm plastic paperweight. Do the smart thing & fix the button first.

Do you think it's really broken? If I remember right, it's a problem with litening Rom, it had a feature like "enable home button" so it could be a software issue, full wipe before flashing new Rom should fix it...afaik..
Flashing a touch recovery (dorimanx kernel) can also work around this.

Hi,
I was just wondering: Have you rooted your device and have you installed twrp for your specific device? (I know, sounds like a dumb question, but you'll be suprised how many people install wrong versions). Because if you have rooted your device properly, and you installed twrp (one for your device), then you should be just fine. But I'm afraid that you haven't, and that therefore the screen is all fuzzy. And also, is the screen fuzzy in the twrp menu, or when you are on (e.g) the homescreen? If the second option doesn't apply, then you are not bricked. Please answer and give as much information as possible on what you did, then I might be able to help you. (btw, it's very unlikely that you are hard-bricked and that your device won't be able to be repaired)
(and a happy new year )

Yes i root my device before i installed twrp , when i boot my tablet twrp boots up the screens goes alll blurry / fuzzy with colors then it becomes normal recovery menue i installed twrp touch so i should be able to touch the setting but i can't i press the power button and a fuzze Unlock with ''Slide to unlock'' comes up but i can't slide to unlock it.. Oh yeah and it is upside down so i have to turn my tablet upside ..
I think[I know] i installed the wrong version of twrp which does not work for my device, Is there any way i could get rid of this recovery or factory reset?
What kind of tablet do you have? Does the bootloader support fastboot? If so you should be able to flash the proper recovery. If not does adb work when in recovery? You may be able to change it here. Also your OEM may have a download mode to flash firmware, this may be another option.

I have a Allwinner A31 table to be precise ubonton u705a
I have tried adb but it just says [waiting for device] so I guess ADB does not work.
I don't know anything about bootloaders it had an option of fastbooting in the power menus if that means anything sorry for my lack of description Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app

I think the easiest would be to just install the right version, the same way you installed this version. You are still able to connect your device to your pc, I guess, so you should be fine. To go back to your stock recovery, find the stock recovery for your device (you can probably find it somewhere here on the forums), and flash it.
Hope this works and good luck
