I put my XZU in the magnetic dock overnight and now the touch screen is acting all weird.
Could it break because of instable current?
Where I'm at the power is not very stable and I'm worried the phone is broken.
Is there anything I can do? Can't go to a repair center juat yet.. Will a factory reset fix it?
Give it a really good clean?

Really?
Imma go ahead and upgrade it to 4.3 with a clean installation, else I have to go get the warranty...
The place where I was charging it had very bad electricity with flicking lights and power breaks all night long, since I had it charging overnight the touch digitizer must've fried or something.
Can't really think of anything else that could've done it.

No there is a breaker inside the ultra going from USB and Magconnector to your device. This would break first and your device would stop charging. Which is a cheaper fix then your whole main board.
Sounds like you need to clean your screen... or a random issue that just started happening.. it should go away

Yet the phone stopped working after being on charge overnight... And really, the screen cannot get more clean than clean.
I was able to factory reset it after a while and I also upgraded it to 4.3 through Sony Companion yet the problem persisted.
I took it back to the shop and they agreed on that something isn't right with the hardware and I'll have it back in a few weeks in working condition.
Something must've gotten broken with the touch digitizer, I hardly believe it's a software issue.
Ah well, now I get to use my old Nokia 3310! :victory:

ok so i have a tmobile tp2 and been having it since the first week it was released.
for the pass couple of days the call, home, and back buttons wont function like they need to.
also when i slide my keyboard up the screen goes completely black even when i close my keyboard, the only way to fix it somewhat is to keep pushing the sleep/wake button untill it turns back on.
my guess is that maybe something like a cable became loose and is causing it to have these problems, and i just wanted to hear what you guys have to say about it, or what you think the problem is and what you would recommend to fix it because i cant afford to buy a new phone for quite awhile.
Posting in the Accessories forum might not be your best shot at an answer.

Sounds like an app running to me. Even File Explorer (when searching the Windows folder) can cause my phone to hang for a long time. I would check in task manager to see if something is running. You can also try and app called "Clean Ram", it works great. The other option is a hard reset, to ruke out software issues. It could be harware, but I doubt it.

Very true.
It's likely a loose cable as you presumed. Hopefully you still have time left on your warranty.
I hate to be the oen to say it, but it sounds like your ribbon cable is going.... My son had the same thing happen on his Kaiser/Tilt (Grandpa to this Phone)... It started like you said... then got worse over the matter of a few weeks... His screen woudl only work when it was closed... the buttongs on the screen housign stopped working properly... then his memorycard reader (it was in teh screen part on that phone) went nuts... got to the point where that phoen was basically useless... I hope that isn;t your problem, but it sounds like it..

yeah i can pretty much say that it is the cable since i could still slide my keyboard but the screen just looks fuzzy like and when i close it, it takes time to adjust back to normal. so basically now its just an all touch screen phone to me now... sort of sucks since i miss using the keyboard so much.
and yeah the buttons got worst now to a point where none of them worked but somehow the back button started working again so thats the only button that does work now.
and a new problem started occuring in the last few days, the screen would turn on by itself with even a slight bump around where the battery is located, it really sucks for me cause it kills my battery faster and it just starts opening up random apps while its in my pocket.
I would like to hear what finally happened. People don't forget we are using WM phones. So no matter what the problem, hard reset before deciding!

wow super late response to this.
but my final verdict is that it was the flex ribbon cable that is the issue.
my TP2 doesnt even show anything no more, its still functional but you just cant see whats goin on with the screen because its like its turned off.
it stopped working on me on dec 25,2010 (what a great present from the phone, huh?) to how i described it.
so now im using my sisters old HTC dream, but even this one is starting to have an issue with the ribbon cable too! i just get bad luck with these phones now i guess.
edit: oh yeah i still have my Rhod210 just sitting on my desk till i get it fixed... oh how i miss my TP2!
Another late response then
Fixed it yet, have you?
this occasionally happens to my phone too, that it, the screen blanks out sometimes. the cause in my case is pocket lint. since it's hayfever season, i carry tissues in my pocket which kind of disintegrate to confetti after a while. while my tp2 is in my pocket, these tissue particles tend to get in behind the ribbon cable and cause some kind of blockage. by just blowing in around the ribbon cable area, it tends to clear out those fluffy bits and the screen is working again. so don't carry tissues in your pocket with your tp2

i actually took the time to open up the touch pro2 all the way today for a full diagnosis on it, and i was right. it was the cable. where the cable is exposed when it tilts, it looks like it sort of got stripped around that area. im not sure how but it left part of the cable exposed which im guessing is whats causing it to have the issue. i was taking a couple of pictures as i was disassembling it, but i forgot to take a picture of the cable itself to show you what i mean. maybe ill disassemble it again tomorrow so i can take a pic! =)
but yeah im still using the g1, and i finally fixed it! (ended up bricking a g1 so i used the other as replacement parts on it) but hopefully not for long cause graduation is tomorrow for me, and i MIGHT end up getting a new HTC phone as a graduation present from the family. so i hope that does happen!
ok so i reopened the touch pro 2 and took a pic of the cable to show you what i ment.

Does your computer recognize the device? Do you see QHSUSB_DLOAD? If so, its possibly equipment failure

You might need to contact HTC.
Hopefully you didn't unlock your boot loader because that voids your warranty. If you did you would know you did its not something you do un-ententionaly. As for auto rotate it could be you accidentally turned it off on quick settings idk if thats on stock but it is on mine but i have a custom rom. As for your phone not turning on try it being plugged into the wall it never hurts to try it has happened to me before if not I would suggest skipping T-Mo and going directly to HTC for advice as they know their phones the best. In addition if they only have a sending it in solution then I would contact T-Mo and tell them your issue. Then you could most likely take it into a store and get a replacement no problem as it seems your phone is pretty new. The phone is pretty new not as new but it never rules out the possibility for a bug as even older well profound technology still has bugs that can cause a major system crash. Happens to me a lot when flying aircraft. Hope this helps.

Before taking off the battery, my charge was 90%
What I did exactly is, pull out the battery, went to sleep, wake up, placed the battery again......Dead
About rotation i know about settings and was not that..
So, after cracking my digitizer a few wks ago- I decided to drop the 65 bucks to have my digitizer professionally replaced. This is the first time I've ever had one replaced. Last few days I've noticed things like random screen unresponsiveness and capacative buttons not working until phone is put to sleep and woke back up. Do these seem like side effects of this being a botched repair job? At first I thought it was the rom I was on, but I switched back to sense, and now it's still doing it. Totally random, sometimes I can go hours without it screwing up.

I had similar issues on my Asus Transformer after I took it apart and put it back together. It ended up being simple: the ribbon cable going from the digitizer to the main board was seated slightly crooked, causing it to occasionally malfunction from either poor contact or shorting two neighboring pins every now and then. Re-seating the ribbon cable into the connector seemed to fix the issue.
It seems likely that whatever is causing your issue would be a similar connection problem between the digitizer and the board. It is also possible that the replacement digitizer is simply defective. Either way, sounds like you need to talk to the company that replaced it for you and see what they can do to fix it.

Thanks for the replies. I talked to them, and get this.. They're ordering me another rezound.. I guess it's such a PITA for him to take back apart, that he'd rather just eat the charge of a new phone (at least it better f'ing be new!).. Supposed to be in on weds.. Didn't I read somewhere that they were out of rezounds?

that was a temp thing for VZW returns. they have a bunch now. lol
So now that I know I'm going to have a new rezound tomorrow- I'm re-doing my homework on getting it unlocked/s-off.. The jbear instructions have d/l's for ics leak fw, do I really have to be on that leak, or does it work if I immediately ruu to the latest 4.03.605.2 and install a custom rom w/ root?
I have a sprint evo 4g lte the screen cracked and I replaced it. At first it seemed everything was OK but then it started shutting down. THe battery says it is full but it will just power off. Can anyone tell me what is the most likely problem? I will probably have to open the phone up and I am concerned one of the connectors is probably a culprit. Which connections would be the most likely cause of this?

You need to give more info. What firmware, what ROM, custom kernel, S-off. It may be a connector or it may be software related. If it was connector related to the screen I would think the screen would simply black out, unless it's causing a short. Though I find that unlikely, those screen connectors are fairly simple.

Maybe take it in to a Sprint store that repairs phones, have them take a look at it. They've always been good to me and not charged me anything. Last time I had a loose USB port, they checked it out, and got a refurb that looks brand new for $50. I didn't have insurance either. Same phone a couple days later when putting on screen protector w soapy water, got under screen, I went back in and they swapped the screen out from one going back and didn't charge me for that either.
I agree with what's posted above. If the phone is stock, I'd take it in and let Sprint take a look at it. Sounds like a hardware issue of some sort.
I bought the phone on November 2012. I dont remember what rom it had but it was stock. Also rooted. Last 2 months it was too laggy and was draining the battery too fast...Also i noticed that it did a few reboots by itself...
So suddenly a few days ago it just died. It was in my pocket so it wasnt charging...
It does nothing. Showing zero response. I tried power button, power button+volupe up/down, home button with power up...nothing.
I plug the charger and it does nothing. Plug it to Ubuntu also nothing...
So by some searching i saw that there is a sudden death problem with S3s...I also saw that some people claim they fixed it by pluggin a usb flash drive with a rom or an sdcard with a rom...I am not sure if those are legit.
So are those legit or not? Any links? Thanks.
P.S. Exackly because it died that particular day it cost me like 1000 dollars just because i couldnt log in. So i hope at least i wont be needing a new phone. I have a warranty but because it is rooted and also i have a small crack at the up left corner of the glass i guess its void although i will try it if anything else fails...

Sounds like sds to me. So you can't get into download or recovery modes?
If not then there is no reason why you can't get warranty because they can't check to see if its been modified or not.
As i said i have also a small crack on the upper left corner of the screen, actually not the screen but the glass so thats what i am afraid most. But yeah i guess i will have to send it to them and see.
So if it doesn't open no matter what it means its dead for good? I am asking because of some videos i watched plugging in some kind of usb drive...

I don't no about your country's return policy's but the crack shouldn't matter. Just explain the crack has been there for years and been working fine.
The worst they can say is no its not covered by warranty.

I shall only focus on the first bit and ingnore the rest.
If you cannot boot the rom they can't see whats on it or been watched. I might suggest that this could be the reason why it died.
