Rooting Sprint Note 3 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

How did you root your Note 2 and what complications or feedback do you have for folks that haven't rooted their Note 3 yet?
Thanks

I used Chainfires CF-autoroot, super easy. Goomanager to install twrp. Wiped and installed freezas rooted stock rom and the knox removal zip. Not one problem at all.
Some people use the kingo method, but since they are not XDA devs, I don't trust them or their app.

You must have not seen very much about this phone .... it has knox basically allows you to sandbox apps for higher security ... but they put a e fuse in knox when you root it turns to 0x1 and as of right now there is no way of resetting the flag to 0x0 and some things in knox will not work with root etc ....

In theory, would this be able to be removed or changed back to 0x0?
That's the only thing turning me off of rooting. Would disabling this knox thing keep it from flagging it?
Not yet and maybe never ....its only the loss of warranty ...

Well The SG Note 3 is a loot more intresting now
Easiest phone I have ever rooted. As usual your videos are very detailed and well explained. Looking forward to more videos! Also the N3 is a hell of a phone, I don't understand all of the hate for this phone.

Well, that was painless.
I was slightly apprehensive about the KNOX binary counter, decided that I would risk it, I don't want any of Sprint/Samsung bloatware anyway.
Now I'm waiting for a deodexed stock ROM, maybe even something with the bloat pre-cut.
Came to the Note 3 from the Epic 4G, quite a huge difference. Very satisfied at this time. Thanks for all your hard work!

This worked great! Thanks a lot.. But just wondering, do I need to wipe everything before rooting? Cuz I didn't, and I noticed some bugs every since I rooted.

I cant find a clear answer to this... if I have a new note3 all stock, but setup the way I want and I root will it factory reset everything?
Or - does it just root the phone, leave everything else untouched?
Thanks!
it just roots if you do it proper qbking77 has a guide on youtube check it out
Thanks for the video & links. I did this on my new Note last night and it was painless.
For anyone else whose first step after rooting is getting Titanium Backup apps restored, you may run into problems with those apps force-closing after restore. This is a known issue, and the fix lies in either of these links:

New to Note 3 and "ROOT" Need Advice, Help
Hey Guys,
This is my first "Android" Phablet (Note 3) SM-N9005. Had iPhones for last 3 years. Time for a change and time for a root
Ive Read all about the rooting process regarding the "Root de la Vega" so i don't trip the KNOX claymore
I've downloaded my AP, CSC files, de la Vega Odin v3.09 and the ADB Fastboot.zip (all from XDA latest Sources)
Few questions i have regarding the process before i get started:
- Do i need the INSTALLER. and SAMSUNG USB drivers 1.5.27.0 for the De la Vega root?
- people were talking about flashing some sort of backup will trip KNOX. is titanium backup going to trip KNOX after i root?
- What is this SUPERSu app/program? Do i get it before root or after root? do i need it?
- After i Root it. What is the best recommended ROM/Kernel to flash?
thank you sir!

[Q] Root help...

Hi guys,
I want to root my Sprint Note 3 SM-N900P, Baseband: N900PVPUBMJ4, Software: N900PVPUBMJ4, Build: JSS15J.N900PVPBUMJ4
I want to know if using CF-AutoRoot will work flawlessly. From what I have read it works sometimes and doesn't other times. Can anyone provide straight forward proof (yes or no with tips) that CF-AutoRoot works on the Sprint Note 3?
Also wondering about this kingoroot. Should I just use that program? Does it actually work for the SM-N900P?
Any help, tips, turn aways, anything towards rooting this device is welcome!

I used the Kingoapp on my Sm-N900P and it worked fine for me on MJ4. Then used the Xposed framework and Wanam Xposed app to spoof the status to Official. Knox is not tripped and all the root apps I've tried so far work with no problem. Miss having a custom recovery but I can live with that for now. The following threads will help with details. The first part of the second link below contains details on the Xposed part. HTH

Kingoapp is the way to go. Especially if you are not going to install a custom recovery and a rom.
I dunno if it matters if your going to install a custom recovery and rom

so far for MJ7 root there is only a method that is frowned upon at the moment called VRoot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2511815
i reccomend reading the entire thread before attempting that method because its still up in the air on how safe it is. it has been confirmed working by several people though.
at the moment all you can do is root mj7 you cannot replace the bootloader and install custom roms unless a method came out overnight which i am unaware of. safestrap is not yet supported for mj7 either.
Thank you! I will definitely take a close look to VRoot and see how it goes.

Well, if you are looking for a ROM, then you will have to be rooted and the bootloader unlocked. If you are just looking for Note 3 apks, there are some floating around.

accidentally let it update to 4.3, how do I root my phone now?

I think I might have accidentally let my VZW Note II accidentally update to 4.3. (although I swear that it did it by itself without my permission. or it that not possible? I have denied it for a long time)
Anyway, what are the chances of rooting the phone now? How do I root it?
Thanks!

Saferoot.. search it in the forums.. just a reminder bc A LOT have people been doing this.. Rooting your phone does NOT allow you to install custom recoveries or Roms. .so please don't make that mistake of thinking you can flash something

Rooting can be done using Saferoot and framaroot and others.
But be advised as said previously. . This will not allow you to have a custom recovery like TWRP, Philz or CWM and install custom roms! Unless it has a unlocked bootloader. As of now theres no simple friendly way to do this anymore. Only solution is to have mobiletechvideos downgrade your chip and send it out to them for a service fee. There highly recommended on here for doing this. Hopefully a fix will be released soon as many people are working on this.
Good luck

You got the answers on rooting, I would just add that yes after a period of time of you denying the update it will just do it on its own. In the future root and freeze the update program. In this case SDM 1.0

XDA developer h311sdr0id made a post a while back to help out with rooting the sch-i605 on 4.3. You can find his post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2608827
I'm still on 4.1.2, so I haven't had to use it yet, but this seems to be the method that a lot of other people are using to root their devices on 4.3.
Thanks to k1mu for posting the root method and h311sdr0id for pointing it out for the Note 2.
Good luck!
I successfully rooted using saferoot. So simple and easy just installed a zip on my computer and ran the bat file and that was it. You can Google it to find it. It took 2 minutes

I think I must have read too many threads and got confused.
After using Saferoot, I was able to root in less than 5 minutes.
The only problem now is that I have no idea why I want or need root at all. Are there any interesting apps that require root?

You can use titanium backup and restore apps. You can also download xposed framework and there are some random mods with that and you can also disable ads with ad blockers. Honestly that's pretty much all I use it for. I'm pretty upset this happened to me. In really hoping that the devs are continuing to work on safe strap for our phones so we can at least install other tw roms
