[Q] i9100 Black Screen - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So theres no easy way to put this, other than I've ****ed up and am struggling to undo my tinkering.
I've been using a i9000 for about a year and have been tinkering with it without any problems. My brother given me his i9100 after an upgrade and i though it would be pretty simple to root and unlock for my UK network Giffgaff.
Sadly, whilst using odin, jeboo_kernel_i9100_v1-2a and CWM-KitKatCompatible-i9100 i've managed to eff it right up.
I'd successfully installed the kernel using odin, but then ran into problems whilst trying to reboot to CMW, possible because i'd not installed it properly. Now i've got the whole yellow triangle thing going on, but in odin mode I have 2 custom binary showing and the phone will not boot past the galaxy s2 yellow triangle screen.
So i admit i'm a total noob with this sort of thing and have possibly f'd this i9100 up. Is there a way I can undo my stupidity.
Can anyone offer me some advice or point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Galaxy S2 - Boot Loop. Help? (Paid work for fixer)

Hi guys,
My first post and unfortunately I'm asking for help, sorry about that! I've spent all day researching this problem and I'm now desperate as I've got to send this phone off tomorrow!
I rooted my phone a while ago, did the usual, all went well. I was running a "insecure kernal" (is that the right term?) as the yellow triangle was appearing everytime I booted the phone. I wasn't fussed so carried on using it as normal.
Yesterday I finally got around to removing that pesky triangle by installing a "secure kernal" (again, right terminology?). Everything was fine until I wiped the phone. I'm now stuck in an infinite loop. I can access the mode where I can install things via Odin (yes I'm a noob, the XDA welcoming video drilled this into my head quite well).
I'm running Gingerbread if that's of any use? My firmware version contains BOKE3 (that's the kernal that I intalled). Again, I'm sorry for my noob questions and info. I'm stuck and almost pulling my hair out. I'll pay £15 to anyone that can help. (Can I offer money? If not I'll speak to my girlfriend and see if she'll let you borrow her for the night...I kid..maybe).
All help is appreciated.

Since you've already wiped the phone once, I guess you don't mind losing any data on there.
Find a stock ROM for your device (check under battery for model number), be that GB or ICS. Flash from download mode via Odin. Factory reset from stock recovery.
Out of curiosity, why did you wipe your phone after flashing the kernel?

Honestly I want to help you buddy, but because you neglacted to read anything before you did this, this is your fault!
Yep very old. I cant believe that Koush hasnt figured something out for this yet. He fails too. CyanogenMod has always pushed ROM Manager, even tho most devs state not to use it.
OP: Get into download mode, and flash another, PROPER, kernel with ODIN or Heimdall.
Then use CWM to flash things.
I's in good mood today?
Well thanks anyway; hope to find a solution and post it. I know it was my fault so lwts move on its part of the experience in Android World.

True.
@jdpardo,
If you can get into download mode, or have any sign of life from your phone, then it is not a brick, and you should be able to recover. Please let us know if you can get into download mode, and more help will be forthcoming.

Wish you good luck with that. Jtag takes a fair amount of dexterity for the micro soldering, and some fairly expensive equipment. If you are unable to get it done yourself, the owner of Mobile Tech Videos will perform Jtag recovery for about $50.00.
I sincerely hope you know that the method for getting into download mode on I777 is to take out the battery, plug normal portion of USB into computer already running Odin, then hold both volume buttons and plug in micro USB side to phone.
If that really does nothing for you, then try mobile tech videos.
i777 soft bricked, boot loop never goes away...
I bricked my samsung galaxy s2 i777 by trying to flash a rom via rom manager. While it was installing it, it rebooted and got stock on boot loop.
It can go into download mode but never to recovery or beyond.
I tried every solution recommended out there, like flashing stock kernel, stock rom, different roms, siyah kernel, oneclick unbrick, and you name it. I tied ADB but it does not recognize the device, nor does oneclick unbrick.
Somehow I need to go ahead and wipe everything but since I cannot get to recovery, I cannot wipe it, and every time I flash something via Odin, it goes through the whole process successfully however once it reboots after flashing, it is in bootloop again. All I see is samsung galaxy sII logo window.
Any solutions?
Thanks!

This. Do u have the android sdk installed, and the drivers for the i777 installed? You'll need those plus usb debugging already enabled to use ADB. (if u went the ADB route)

Something went wrong flashing AOKP from AoCP, bootlooped and I thought I could fix it, didn't realize I had to hold the buttons FOREVER, worked, thanks man
A simple way to get the i777 into download mode:
unplug the usb cable
turn the phone off
hold only the volume down button
insert usb cord
Almost instant download mode.
this really will help you

I'm not saying it won't work, but the fact that you've got a file from gs2root shows your inexperience and/or lack of concern for the well-being of others devices. There is no reason to take the risk of using ANYTHING from gs2root... you can get everything needed to do everything possible with this device right here from xda and have the peace of mind that it will work as expected so long as you follow the instructions.

[Q] phone unable to boot stuck at yellow triangle

after using a windows phone for years, I finally switched to android and OMG. I love it. Except, it's like linux. Once you break it, it's really really hard to figure out what you broke. I've been googling for the better part of 5 hours now and I've read through literally hundreds of different sites and I still can't figure out how to fix my phone. I followed the instructions on how to root your phone at androidauthority.com/galaxy-s2-epic-4g-touch-root-zedomax-kernel-65389/
When I restarted, it booted to a yellow triangle with a bang in the middle. It will not proceed farther than that. I'm assuming that is because much like linux, the kernel isn't compatible with the OS. It's the zedomax kernel on a sprint galaxy S II SPH-D1710. So, my questions are, am I in the right forum for this and.... how do I make my phone work again? I have odin installed and can get to download mode. However, I can not figure out how to get to recovery mode. Any help is appreciated!
P.S. sorry but it won't let me post links.
I figured out how to get to recovery mode. It's the default one though. Doesn't do me much good I think.

Good to hear that but don't forget to head over to the link i posted in my previous post.
Read as many sticky threads as possible and if there is anything you don't understand, then ask questions.
That's the best way to stay safe while flashing.

Installed GT 19100 On i777?

Attempted to root my phone today, needed to install CWM, and followed the guide here:
androidauthority.com/galaxy-s2-i777-att-root-clockworkmod-recovery-76868/
Unfortunately, the files they linked to are no good; when I try to boot the phone, it now says GT 19100 under the Galaxy S2 logo, there's a yield sign with an exclamation point in the bottom, and in Odin my phone it shows Epic 4G in the top bar. This leads me to believe I've flashed my phone with the Sprint version of CWM. So far, I've tried flashing the kernel from creepycrawly's download repository, which hasn't worked, and I've downloaded the full .exe of the Stock Binaries; when I click it, my phone doesn't show up. Please help!
Thank you,

Lesson learned on that one. I solved my own problem; flashed the Full Binaries from creepycrawly's repository in Odin, phone is working again. I'll be sticking to XDA in the future, and doing a lot more reading up. Thanks everyone, the comments did actually help me figure out what I needed to do!

How to quit in the middle of rooting

Hello XDA, my name is Guy, and I've recently received a Galaxy S3 (International).
I did do much best scouring the earth for this dumb question, but I didn't really find anything...
So I was rooting my Galaxy via Odin 1.85 and CF-Root SGS3 V6.4, when my the root got stuck in the PIT mapping process.
Now, for that I have found more than a few solutions which I am going to try out. What I don't have a god-damn solution for is how the hell do people try rooting again? I've read in threads about people stuck in PIT Mapping that they tried to root like 5 times after they got stuck, but I'm just stuck in the downloading thing on my phone (Where you press volume down+power+home), and my Odin is in the middle of its work. Do I just power off my phone? Take out the battery? Close Odin? Will those things not cause trouble?
Thanks again, sorry for the silly problem, I guess I didn't really use the right search terms.
Sincerely, Guy.
PS: Say I do find a way to stop Odin from working, is it possible to stop the downloading mode on my phone (Without destroying it, that is).
i think you should odin a stock firmware and then root using another method
