I've searched the forums for a similar issue with no luck, if anyone knows of a thread with a matching problem please provide a link.
My problem is that whenever I connect to my home network via wifi, I'm able to connect/disconnect a maximum of 3 times before wifi stops working completely. On the forth try, the phone will detect the network, try to connect and instantly disconnect. The only way I've been able to get wifi working correctly again is by rebooting the router, which also restarts the '3 connection' cycle.
I'm using a Netgear DG834G v2 and currently running Wolfbreak's latest version of CM6.1.3 but I've had the same issue with every other rom, including the official SE firmware, which leads me to believe that it is a router issue and not the phone itself.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
In your phone, go to WiFi settings and press options button, then select "advanced", in wifi suspension politics (or something like that) select NEVER, then download and install Blade Wifi Fix from the market (i don't know what exactly does but it will prevent WiFi disconnections and it really works), and you can try using (optional) this app to connect to WiFi, if the problem still persists i would rather think it's a router issue or something ._.
CescVicious, thanks for your help. I tried both of those apps but my wifi continues to disconnect. I'm leaning towards it being a router issue more than the phone and have posted the problem on the Netgear forums.
Thanks again.
Jason
is anyone having a problem with the wifi after updating to jellybean for s3?
inital connection to WIFI works but after a certain period of time, the wifi stopped working and i need to restart the wifi again for internet to load. IT happens all the time now after leaving my phone with WIFI on.
Constant restarting WIFI to get connection does not happen in ICS..

No such problem for me with JB LJ5 stock or custom!!!
Might be your modem-router....
This happens to me too. It's fine for me at work, but when I'm at home the wifi fails to connect after some time. Are you using dd-wrt at home? I am and I'm wondering if that's the issue.

I find that having my wifi set to always on in advanced I get better wifi and slow drain, having it on wifi off while asleep makes your wifi keep disconnecting and reconnecting. Best way is to switch wifi off when you don't need it.
Also some battery saving apps I've found to stop wifi and need to keep reconnecting, this has to be changed in the settings
wi fi dropped

Hi, Mine is Galaxy Note 2 i317 with Jelly Bean 4.1.1. I did have similar issue. I took two smart phones to Target, one is ICS 4.0.3 and the Note 2 is 4.1.1.
The 4.0.3 never has any issues with wi fi connection. But the Note 2 keeps on dropping the connection. I ran an application wifi analyzer to check the available networks. It turns out that Target has so many routers that are using the same ssid, i.e. "Target Guest Wi-Fi". There are channel 1, 6, 11, etc, as well as many 5Gs. I did an alias for every available connection. Then I pick one of the stronger signal strength 5G and connected to it.
After that no connection was dropped.
The point is that you should try to connect to the strongest signal SSID so that the Note 2 won't keep on dropping the weak connection.
I have no idea why the ICS 4.0.3 can handle better than the 4.1.1 Jelly Bean as far as wifi is concerned.

Same problem!

I'm experiencing the same problem since updating to Jelly Bean 4.1.1 on my HTC ONE X. So it seems to be an Android issue, not specific to Samsung or HTC.
I connect to my home network over WIFI, everything works fine until after a little while my apps seem unable to connect to any data/internet. They just time out or come up with error messages about connection problems.
Sure enough, if I disconnect and reconnect to WIFI, everything starts working again... for a little while.
It's like the WIFI goes to sleep, but forgets to wake-up again.
And there is no indication on the phone, ie. it still shows as connected.

I echo that? It's 3 months later... has anyone figure anything out in regards to this issue?
Mine shipped with JB already. Sometimes, when reboot, it doesn't connect to my WIFI network, unless i disable WIGI connection and re-enable it...

I installed CyanogenMod Nightly 10.1 on Note 10.1 n8000 and it runs fine. I followed the steps shown in the other forms and everything worked.
But i am facing a problem, I can't connect to my wifi router , i enter my wifi password and connect then suddenly the tablet shows that the connection signal is weak and then it disconnects, then the signal returns strong.
I tried changing the password encryption, ssid, channel, rebooting both tablet and router, using wifi manager app and wifi fixer but nothing worked.
Everything else in my tablet works fine.
I installed the package :
cm-10.1-20130504-NIGHTLY-n8000.zip
gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip
I tried installing others but the problem stays.
Please can any one help.
The tablet i bought was new and i tested the wifi and it worked fine.
But after rooting and installing the cm 10.1 the wifi malfunctioned.
the tablet can scan normally for wireless network and asks for the key normally but when i connect to a wireless network the signal suddenly becomes weak (as if it is droping the connection). Before connecting the signal bars are at maximum but when connecting there is only one signal bar.
I first rooted my tablet and never checked the wifi then installed cm 10.1.
could the rooting process be the problem??
i got the same error with my LG o4x too.
have u fixed it?
Hello all, I'm having a weird networking issue that is only affecting one of my android devices, It's a brand new cube i7 remix running android 4.4
I noticed my android device drops it's network connectivity. It stays connected to my router but it drops connectivity then reconnects but does it all over again. it does this every 2-4 minutes. I viewed this in the wifi fixer app i downloaded.
now whats weird is i was using the tablet at a friends house and it was fine but when i came home i noticed this happening, i also checked it using my karma hot spot and everything was fine. only when i connect to my home network does this happen.
I honestly don't know how to trouble shoot this, i rebooted my router, i changed the dns. nothing. I could really use some help. thank you
I use my Redmi 6A as an Wi-Fi hotspot to use its data on laptop. But since I started doing this, I notice that its hotspot is not working as it should be.
Every once in a while, internet connection goes away, while Wi-Fi stays connected. It happens especially after the laptop is rebooted and Wi-Fi reconnects. If that happens then I'll have to turn off hotspot on my phone and start the hotspot again for the Wi-Fi to work.
I tried to see where the problem is, and I found out these:
1. Wi-Fi stays connected, but no internet.
2. It happens after random period of time after the laptop is connected to the hotspot
3. It also happens when the laptop is rebooted and then it connects again to the hotspot.
4. From the laptop, ping to gateway IP does not work. Ping to any other IP also not work.
5. Turning off and on again the hotspot solves the problem. And then it happens again.
Do anyone else face this problem?
Can anyone tell me why is this happening?
ROM version: 10.3.2.0 Global (Problem was also happening since a few previous versions.)
Laptop: Windows 10, Ubuntu (problem is not in the laptop, because it works fine on other phone's hotspot)
Old thread, but nope. Mine works great and wifi is stable.
