Hello, planning on buying an XPZ and just wanted to check about the status of the AOSP roms, are they stable enough for a daily usage?
Thanks
Heard zero complains about them... Though why not stick to stock?
Haven't tested the stock yet as I don't have the device, just needed to know about the alternatives.

Hi everybody
Recently I noticed a large interest in the subject custom ROM for Mega. Especially a lot was written about the AOSP. Please express, what do you expect after installing such ROM and why you do not like TW?
Another thing are stock ROM's stripped of almost all s-apps and other software deemed unnecessary in order to recover memory. Please share your opinions on the advisability of such action. Did you really needed all this reclaimed memory?

I expect most of the new features for S4 and Note 3 to be available in this ROM.
I still dont know if we can expect full 4.3 update. Some web sites claim that Mega wont receive this "Premium package" update whatever that means. I dont think that Mega 6.3 is a mid class smartphone and it would be plain stupidity if we stay out of good updates. So very important part for a custom RoM is the availability of the latest Samsung goodies from the flagman like S4 for instance.
Also I think that TW is not so bad, I like its interface.

Hmm, I was asking about expectation towards AOSP custom ROM-s as such CM or MIUI. As you probably know, many futures in Samsung stock ROM depends heavily on TW. Massive striping stock Samsung ROM from all s-apps could even cripple your phone. But installing AOSP ROM will means clean-out all samsung dependencies, so there will be not possible to run futures from S4 or GN3. maybe I'm wrong, let somebody correct me.
I think so TW is not so bad either and was curious why some people are so opposed to it. I was user of Motorola Defy which actualization stops on Android 2.3 so custom ROM's were only alternative. Now I am not so eager to strip my Mega to bare AOSP.
Yeah I missed the point of AOSP rom a little bit, but I strongly believe that a Samsung device without TW loses its advantages. I've been using Galaxy S with AOSP for a long time but I was forced to do it because of the lack of updates after 2.3.6
Samsung says that the new 4.3 update will bring new and fast TW without lags and constant refreshing. This makes me think that porting the new SW is better than Aosp roms. Of course there should be some roms based on CM cause many people preffer stock android instead of customized one.
I just want CM because it allows you to port MIUI v5. I have always been a fan of MIUI roms.
Curious what other folks like for AOSP KK on the LG G2. Specifically, I have the Verizon variant. I've tried CM11 - though not recently - and like everyone had the well documented freezes and reboots. Most recently, I've been running Mahdi-Rom 2.5 Beta 4 and it's been pretty solid with occasional lock ups most affecting my launch (TSF Shell). Anyways, what are you running and what do you like about it? How's speed, stability and battery?
We do not allow threads which compare ROMs as developers do not like seeing their work compared to that of others.Besides everyone has their own needs and what's best for one person may not be what's best for someone else.

Hey,
I've been looking for a decent, stable lightweight ROM for my Xperia Z2 tablet and so far from looking at some top lists the only ROM that appears to be available for SGP511 (castor_windy) is Cyanogenmod. Just wondering whether there's anything else out there that could work - I just use my tab for watching videos and reading with the Kindle app and I want something that will make sure it holds battery as long as possible without wasting resources on other background stuff.
So - any other great ROMs for this device? Seems like popular ones like Paranoid Android, Slimrom etc are not available for this tab.
Thanks!
You can try PACman rom...its a shame that no devs work on slimrom for z2 tablet....the z2 phone have a lot of roms...maybe you can ask for some z2 phone dev to make a rom for tablet....its the same device....or almost...
Best ROM? Very clearly the 5.0.2 stock ROM with root and Xposed.
These other ROMs have far worse battery life, and some features of the stock ROM are not available.
Hmm... OK. I'm gonna sound stupid now, but... what is Xposed? I looked it up and the jargon didn't get me any closer to knowing what it actually is / does.

It's a framework that allows installation of modules that can deeply modify/customize the system. I agree the best rom available for this device is the stock one for lack of options. But without xposed it'd be a pain. For me Xposed is really essential.

Even the CM12 rom ?
Yup.
Too bad, I wanted to give it a try. I don't mind the missing features but I'd expect similar/better performances and similar battery life.
I just don't get why ROMS for Sony products are generally so few anb buggy while it's by far the most AOSP-supporting manufacturer.
You don't get it?
Man, it's simple: It's because Sony stock ROMs are very good and there's simply no real need for other ROMs. (As opposed to e.g. Samsung.)
Yup. Rooted stock rom is awesome. 4.4 or 5. Lots of useful features and Sony bloat apps uninstalled.

Is exposed working on xperia z2??
Of course it is.
Hi guys,
Pretty new to this forum. I just gave my younger cousin the Samsung Galaxy Note 1 (I717 model Rogers). I've tried to disable what apps I can, but still notice that the phone is fairly slow. Can someone please give me some advice on what is the best custom rom/root option out there that will enhance the performance of this phone? Doesn't matter if it's for Kitkat or Lollipop, just something that will speed up this phone. I am sure touchwiz running on here doesn't help, but I am looking forward to suggestions!
Thanks in advance!

What is best is what works best for the way you use it. Stock roms are the most stable and least bugs. There are older, speedier, stock based roms including Ginger Bread and Ice cream Sandwich as well as slower Jelly Bean varietals. You may prefer a highly customized or base Cyanogenmod rom depending on the features that are important to you. These are now available from highly stable CM 9 to rapidly developing, usable but far less stable CM 12 varieties. Do your research on these forums and try some at your own risk. There are lots of historical comments on these roms to give you an idea of what worked and what didn't.

Hello everyone, I am new to this forums but have been operating on phones for a while, I am currently wanting to ROM my Samsung S3 ( I9300 ) to a nice interface and a nice stable ROM. I have narrowed my search down to TWO ROM's that I like and have read up on a lot but I was wondering if I could have some opinions. I am basically struggling to decide on which one to choose. I am mainly wanting the ROM with the best stability but also nice looks if that's possible with either of the ROM's below:
Would you rather install 'Ressurrection Remix' or 'CyanogenMod' and why?
Im using ResurrectionRemix at the moment and its very stable , unless u go to the settings and faceroll enable all the customizations
Hey man, if you don't mind me asking, what do you use your phone for as mine needs to be stable but also optimized
