Does anybody know of a good screen recorder for the L9?
I'm using screen cast but it creates the file onto my internal sd which starts to fill up pretty quick

My wife got a G2 coming from an iphone and one of her biggest gripes is that Android doesn't auto convert videos to fit into an mms text.
Now don't tell me about shooting in mms quality or uploading the video, these are simply not options for her. Recording in mms leaves you with one incredibly crappy original copy of a video and uploading is simply not a seamless experience.
After doing some searching online I read that the Optimus G can edit a video to fit into an mms message. I quickly checked the G2 and can't seem to find a way to do it.
My question is, does the G2 have this functionality and if not can we install the Optimus G2 messaging apk? Or whatever apk has this converting functionality? I don't have the Optimus G so I'm not quite sure. Thanks everyone!
its reducing the size if thats what you are asking

Yes indeed. But I can't seem to be able to find this native functionality on the G2. Apparently the Optimus G can natively convert a video to fit for MMS AFTER you've already recorded the video in 1080p or whatever, just like an iphone does.
I was wondering if it was the SMS app on the Optimus G that's doing this and if so if it's possible to install on the G2.
What I really need to know is if it's possible to install the Optimus G MMS apk on to the LG G2. That would solve my wife's problem and my headache.

Why don't you go to the optimus g thread & see if you can find the apk & sideload it to find out? Then we'll all know

I would like to know this as well...
Edit: Try this solution. Worked for me.
Compress video to send as an MMS by picking a video in the video app and by sharing at as a MMS message. It will tell you it's too big and if you'd like to trim it. Click yes but then just click done without trimming, it compresses the video and attaches it successfully. Takes a bit to compress but it works.

Probably a stupid question but just wanted to ask to be safe, and can I put my own ringtones etc if I convert them to .ogg?
Done it before on the Optimus Elite with no problems.
Thanks in advance c;

I think you can, Android OS is Android OS,
I think you need to make a Ringtone folder if that is not already there
I added Custom Ringtones to my cell i have a samsung exibith 4g running CM10.1
and it can play mp3 or wav files, i dont like songs so i googled and downloaded a bunch of " classic" Ringtones
like the Motorola Brick phone and Startac ones, Some Avaya Office PBX phones ones
and some classic touch tone Home phone ones
I was looking for LOUD ringtones and indeed... the motorola classic and one of the home phone sounds are LOUD
Love em.
Just recently bought an L9... and i want to root it to install CM10.1 or try other suitable ROM

Yes you can. But you're not limited to .ogg format. You can use MP3's also, you'll just need an application that can accept file picker intents, like ES File Explorer, for choosing ringtones that aren't in .ogg format. Also, if you're just looking to make some free space, you can optionally just move all your ringtones, etc. to your external SD card. The system will pick them up no matter where they reside.
Hi guys,
I've been using iPhone since they launched and LG V30 is my first android phone.
Here is my question,
Is there a way to record more than 4 GB?
I've been using my LG V30 to record some of my music sessions and it seems that everytime file size reaches 4GB, it stops and restarts.
Stop and restart is okay but there is about 3 second missing from it.
I've tried open camera app but for some reason, audio is terrible.
Can anyone chime in and help me out with this?
Thanks alot.

Are you using the LG camera app in order to film your work or are you using the app called HD audio recorder? On my TMO V30 the HD recorder was already installed.
Next are you recording to internal storage or SD card storage?
If you have external SD card how did you initially format the card? FAT32 or EXFAT?
Answers to those questions may point you to an answer.

Hi psawjack.
Sorry I thread was miss leading.
I meant Video recording.
So I am using LG Camera app.
I tried both internal and external and both did not work. and SD card is formatted as EXFAT.

Okay, here's what I would do. I'd try to do a recording with the HD recording app and test to see if it allows recordings over 4gb. If so then issue is probably due to Camera app. From there if try a different camera app to test. I'd recommend the Google camera mod app available on this forum.
If the HD recording fails after 4gb then maybe system wide limitation. Do you have a AV file over 4gb? Could you connect to computer and try to copy file over to both SD and internal storage and see if you get any errors copying?

Hi! I'm getting a V30 this week and I also plan to do a lot of video recording with it so this is of interest to me. I did bump into the 4GB file size limit on Android as well when recording long videos with other Android phones such as my V10. First I thought it would have something to do with FAT32 storage format which has a 4GB file size limit but after doing some research it seems it's not related to FAT32 but a (arbitrary?) limitation of the Android OS. However, some Android phone makers seem to be able to tweak the OS in such a way that you can record beyond 4GB, for instance Sony (tested it on a Xperia XZ).
Regarding the V30, I just happened to come across this recent thread which is talking about a new OS update for the V30/V30+ bringing features of the newer V30 ThinQ to the older V30(+): https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/how-to/oreo-update-ai-camera-t3760379. Now the interesting thing is that one of the new features listed says "Google Drive supports downloading files larger than 4GB". It could be nothing after all but maybe, just maybe, this also means that Android on the V30 now generally copes with files larger than 4GB and that this will also affect recording video with the native app.
Other than that, a few thoughts how to tackle the problem:
- Judging from my experience with the V10, the native camera app of the V30 should have the option to change the recording bitrate. If you can live with a lower bitrate for your video, you can squeeze out a couple of more minutes recording time. On the V10 I was able to record over 1 hour in 720p resolution with the low bitrate setting.
- I don't have the V30 yet, but maybe the native app (or some 3rd party recording app) has the option to record with the newer H.265/HEVC video codec instead of the (still) common H.264. The superior compression of H.265 will allow you to have a much smaller file size while keeping the quality, ergo you will be able to record a lot longer even if the 4GB file size limit continues to exist.
- OpenCamera is only one of the 3rd party camera apps that support auto-restart: If you find the audio to be terrible you could also check out "Cinema FV-5" or "Filmic Pro".
That being said, I'm glad to hear that on the V30, the native app at least seems to automatically restart after reaching the file size limit. On the V10, you have to manually push the record button again which is annoying when you just want to place the camera somewhere and keep it running while you have other things to do.
Still, let's hope Android get rid of this limitation asap!
I recently realized this limitations of 4gb and there's an interruption of several seconds at least when recording 4k slog format...this is terribly disappointing.
I don't mind the 4gb size limit but how is it possible that you miss time between files?
Infuriating.
Can anyone supply the stock LG Gallary app for the G5? I scoured the internet and only found apps from the G5 here that were ported for the G3/G4 but will not install on my G5.
Pulled from stock nougat G5 H850.
You might need the other 2 files also.
Hi xda expects,
My friend have LG G5 having a problem with half screen glitch. Help me with this please.
I uploaded a video to YouTube but i am not allowed to share my link here so i can tell the name of the video over there (Lg g5 having a problem with half screen glitch).
